As a Navy Corpsman that has been to Afghanistan twice and seeing different wounds those pellets would be a nightmare to try to get out amd clean all of the wounds and make sure there wasnt an infection days weeks later.
Would you even need to get them out? Thought it’s SOP to leave bullets in as long as they aren’t too disruptive or doing something nasty like going through an artery. Seems like that would be the case with not to deep penetrating tiny little birdshot pellets.
No bullets are surgically removed stuff like shrapnel and pellets that can be pulled out with tweezers and forceps or need to be surgically removed or removed to prevent infection. Not on the battlespace but once you get back to Battalion aid station or if their CASAVACed they would go to a shock trauma platoon/field hospital for secondary and tertiary treatment to be stabilized treated for infections etc then either remain there until they can go back to their unit or go to a full hospital like in Longstool Germany and eventually get transported back to the US.
I’d love to see a video on how effective 50 BMG rat shot is at different distances. You could put large poster board behind the targets to see the pattern as well.
Well, at about 5 feet it is... And I agree with the General there, I think it was more the muzzle blast than anything. Maybe he should test some .50 blanks!
Just knowing that the Mexican drug cartels and Taliban have a lot of 50BMG's.. I am pretty sure it is safe to say that this same exact experiment has been done at the same point blank range on a few human beings.. probably not rat shot.. but who knows..? After this video 50BMG rat shot will be sold out everywhere.
Well... This has to be some of the best High-speed footage yet. Now I am curious of the .50 BMG Ratshot does at further range. Oh and, do they make loads like that for the Nitro calibers? 700 Nitro Ratshot would be something to see...
@@CampinSteve You are full of it. I don't believe you. Scott should start all over and do it again. He needs more than just three rounds of BMG to prove to us that it works. LOL
I may get some disagreement from other watchers, but I have to think the headshot had to be the most awesome and devastating shot I've ever seen in my life!!! I mean, it wasn't just torn off or blown off.... it quite literally EVAPORATED!!
I feel like the smaller calibers could work as less-lethal rounds but if you've taken a worthwhile self-defense course they look more like a problem than a solution. Pretty cool array of ratshot!
Even if ratshot ends up stopping your attacker, now you have a very alive attacker who might try to sue you. Best to just magdump and use the panic/adrenaline rush defense.
I agree they might serve as good less-lethal ammo, but how do you even employ that? Load the first two as rat shot and the rest as regular ball rounds?? What if you are in a situation that demands lethal force quickly? I just see them as a novelty. MAYBE a warning shot round in terms of scaring a dude off who maybe has a knife. But anyone who poses a legit lethal threat needs to be met on level playing ground.
just look for his video on blanks. A 50bmg blank had nothing on the ratshot even though with the blank the muzzle touched the head. (Basically the blank turned the skull into a cup, it didnt vaporize the skull.)
Scott, this was the best video you've done. And you've had some great videos. Your reaction to every 50 BMG was amazing, and the table destruction was top tier comedy. Great work!
At the range he was using the 50 BMG he might as was have been using a 12 Guage with 00 buckshot or a solid round, like with any scatter shot at close range there's very little spread
Just understand the following: A Dislike of Eggplants, Table destruction, and Watermelon explosions. That's the gist of Kentucky Ballistics. I also recommend watching the videos related to his .50 cal accident. Basically he received a bad batch of ammo that caused his gun to explode and it resulted in his jugular being cut, a lung being punctured, his orbital bone being broken in three different places, and his nose being broken. He lived through all of that and has a new lease on life and he isn't afraid to joke about it. I respect him greatly because of everything he's been through and his attitude towards what happened to him. I love his attitude and his respect towards guns. Kentucky (Scott is his real name) is awesome!
Scott never disappoints! He might disjoint torso’s, but he never disappoints. That’s just S I C K ! 50BMG with rat shot is crazy. Scott’s response is priceless. Thanks for another informative, and might I add, educational.

I think the concussion wave coming out with the rat shot from the 50bmg is doing a lot of that as well, if I remember correctly even the 50bmg blanks had quite a lethal effect even at a couple yards. I'm not saying the 50 bmg rat shot isn't wild but I suspect that there is more physics at play then just the rat shot effect.
Yeah I've seen .308 rat shot and it didn't do much. I'd say, based on him not hand firing that serbu, he had something other than just rat shot in there.
@@clydecraft5642 I didn't mean to imply he was lying necessarily, just pulling a fast one. That was really devastating for rat shot. I think he spiced it up a bit. Could be wrong, often am.
It has come to my attention that there is something called a Ratshot Warhead. I'm not sure if it's real or a joke, but it's essentially what you'd fire out of an RPG-7, just filled with ratshot. Based on today's tests, and your penchant for rare weapons. I figured you might be able to find out if it's real, and if so. Potentially get one to show us and have some fun with.

16:14 Seeing the "heart" fly out like that in slow-mo was awesome. I think it's safe to say that .50 BMG "rat" shot point-blank is probably the most brutal round (out of a rifle, at least) you could shoot at anything, period. That was amazing, lmao.
I'd slightly understand this thought if you were referring to the third shot but the first shot from like 5 feet away from the muzzle being as devastating as it was kinda destroys this theory. Sure 5 feet isn't that far but in terms of muzzle blast power and it's ability to go inside wound channels, it becomes exponentially weaker over distance.
Good video Scott, despite that the .50 rat shot damage is likely to overpressure from the muzzle blast. In Panama in 1983 at JTOC had my cover blown off my head from 15 feet away from an M2 mg mounted on an M113 apc at 2 am. Min safe range of the muzzle with blanks was a min of 13 feet?
Holy cow, the way that zombie absolutely exploded. With such small, dispersed projectiles, that round is a lot better at dumping the huge amount of kinetic energy into the target rather than penetrating like it wasn't there.
Pretty sure most of that destruction came from the force of the explosion itself and not the pellets lmao, just the hot gasses basically ripped it apart.
the .50 would have been interesting to see at a bit farther distance against like 4 targets next to each other. would both let air pressure dissipate (as it seemed like that was what caused most of the damage) and show the spread of the rat shot.
That cavitation from the blast oof. If like to see what a .50 blank would do on it's own. I've always been curious about rock salt shotgun loads as well.
Rock salt is tricky, too many grains and the force will turn the salt into powder. They sell salt guns for killing flies, and on humans it's pretty much powdered on impact, though it has sufficient force to cause capillary damage and bleed lightly. If the rock salt stayed as crystals it would have enough force to abrade and maybe lodge under the skin, but I doubt it would do any real damage - unless it came out of the Serbu lol.
I appreciate you all so much! I hope you enjoyed the video and thanks so much for watching!

Scott, when you ran the rope around the tree and pulled that table through it was almost like watching something Wile E Coyote would have done trying to get the road runner and backfire. THAT WAS GREAT!!
Yep, I think he hit it out of the park with the most devastating table destruction to cap off the most devastating zombie destruction!

TH-camrs telling you repeatedly to hit the subscribe button does get old (not knocking them, subscriber counts matters to their ability to continuing creating content). I'd really like to see what that 50bmg Ratshot does at different distances. Find the max effective range, then get about 5 yards closer with every shot.
I bet video game shotgun physics would ensue.
@@cruelfish4824 Right. Irl shotgun takes arm off, video game shotgun shoots dust.
Im pretty sure the devestation caused to the torso was more about the gasses leaving the barrel than the impact from the rat shot. Maybe Scott should try replicating the test using a .50bmg rifle with a muzzle break remotley and comparing the results.
@@Firehazard1988 absolutely. The hot gasses are obviously what melted the torso. Would have really liked to see a fresh dummy shot at 20 yards away.
“Alright let’s even out a shoulder shall we?” Has to be one of the scariest things a home invader could hear after being turned into a human pincushion from the first shot.

Scott's reactions to the 50 BMG rat shots were epic!! 🤣🤣
Yes! I was going to put that 😂
Imagine watching it being used on living people.. the Mexican cartel like to mix things up sometimes.. and living people don't hold together as well as zombies do..
LMAO! Watching you (especially this episode) is like watching a 10 year old kid who's been handed the combo to dad's gun locker, a credit card (to purchase zombie torsos), and keys to the family truck. LOL! I'm 57 and I love these breaks of rampant, comical destruction. Thanks, Scott!

The 50 cal rat shot was insane. That's definitely some of, if not the worst, damage I've ever seen something do to a ballistic dummy.

Yes I would have liked to see at what realistic range these rat shots work at myself.
Yah, I want to see how much damage is due to the rat shot versus the muzzle blast
The sheer excitement Scott has in this video is as wholesome as it gets
His reaction to the torso getting blown in half was pure gold.
I find it worrying
50 cent be like:
As a Navy Corpsman that has been to Afghanistan twice and seeing different wounds those pellets would be a nightmare to try to get out amd clean all of the wounds and make sure there wasnt an infection days weeks later.
Christ I can only imagine how difficult it is to fix up somebody who’s been shot up with normal rounds, let alone tiny pellets.
Would you even need to get them out? Thought it’s SOP to leave bullets in as long as they aren’t too disruptive or doing something nasty like going through an artery. Seems like that would be the case with not to deep penetrating tiny little birdshot pellets.
Not to mention all the garment fibers dragged along with the pellet. Ugh.
No bullets are surgically removed stuff like shrapnel and pellets that can be pulled out with tweezers and forceps or need to be surgically removed or removed to prevent infection. Not on the battlespace but once you get back to Battalion aid station or if their CASAVACed they would go to a shock trauma platoon/field hospital for secondary and tertiary treatment to be stabilized treated for infections etc then either remain there until they can go back to their unit or go to a full hospital like in Longstool Germany and eventually get transported back to the US.
its the war crime shot
That was a DOOMSLAYER level of disintegration with the .50BMG Ratshot.
Imagine that in tarkov
I wonder what .50 BMG ratshot would do out of a shotgun
I’d love to see a video on how effective 50 BMG rat shot is at different distances. You could put large poster board behind the targets to see the pattern as well.

@@Gonky a crackhead

I think some of that damage was due to the muzzle blast lol, but still impressive nonetheless
Well, at about 5 feet it is... And I agree with the General there, I think it was more the muzzle blast than anything.
Maybe he should test some .50 blanks!
I think a lot of the destruction from the 50bmg is the pressure wave out of the barrel. Would like to see it a little further back for comparison.
You are correct.
Nahh the shockwave isnt going to make your body explode like that, if it did someone wouldve invented a shockeave shotgun or something already
A shockwave propagating inside a hole made by a projectile first absolutely can have a dramatic effect.
Its molded ballistic gel, the shockwave 100% would tear it apart when the ratshot makes an opening

Scott's reaction to that first shot was priceless. I laughed so loud!
I loved the video learnd so much
As close as you were, I'd be interested in seeing how much of that damage was from the pressure blast.
Me too. Would like to know what the .50 rat shot does at greater distances.
Yeah I was thinking that too!
just look for his video on blanks. A 50bmg blank had nothing on the ratshot even though with the blank the muzzle touched the head. (Basically the blank turned the skull into a cup, it didnt vaporize the skull.)
@@patriarch5009 well, the ratshot took way more air with it than air could carry on itself.
Almost none. There's videos even on this channel testing pressure from gunfire. It's all myth.

Watch the exotic shotgun ammo video.
Also watch the 577 t-Rex rifle vs zombie torso
It was pretty much thr concussive blast of the .50BMG that blew the torso up
At the range he was using the 50 BMG he might as was have been using a 12 Guage with 00 buckshot or a solid round, like with any scatter shot at close range there's very little spread
If you used a 50 BMG RatShot against an actual rat, it wouldn't even be dead, it would just cease to exist
"I stole some cheese, and he dropped the sun on me."
That first 50bmg shot was amazing! I wasn’t prepared for that kind of devastation. The only problem I see is what kind of follow up is there after that? We definitely need some more 50 rat shot slow mo footage. I bet it will be the finest eggplant destroyer ever seen.
I thought you punting the rat had me laughing until I cried but I wasn’t ready for the outcome of the 50bmg ratshot 😂😂😂
@@cobblerama since the incident with a serbu he doesnt hand fire the serbu anymore with non factory ammo. wouldnt read too much into that one.

@@Star0gazelmfao turns the thing to a fine mist...
I think the .50's power mostly came from the muzzle blast following the shot channels, acting as a wedge to rip the holes WAY open.
I shot the 22LR ones before as a kid. WE would shoot them at old soda cans. The tiny holes were always fascinating 😂 EVEN as an Adult apparently 🤣 💜
that explosion edit actually scared the crap out of me
Holy cow, the way that zombie absolutely exploded.
That table wrapping around the tree was hilarious as well as the 50 bmg rat shot tearing the zombie in half 😆
Props to the ballistic dummy for sitting still through the pain

Congratulations. You've managed to turn a sniper rifle into a shotgun.
the .50 would have been interesting to see at a bit farther distance against like 4 targets next to each other. would both let air pressure dissipate (as it seemed like that was what caused most of the damage) and show the spread of the rat shot.

That explosion prior to the 1st .50 cal shot was like a jump scare!
That cavitation from the blast oof. If like to see what a .50 blank would do on it's own. I've always been curious about rock salt shotgun loads as well.
I think he tested blanks already. Rock salt would be interesting tho
Scott The nuclear bomb explosion after setting the trigger on the 50 Cal was priceless. LMAO I thought it blew up again. Glad your OK Brother
