I'm a lean and scrawny dude. So videos like this are very important to me too. Except I rely on Ian of Forgotten Weapons to get a proper estimation of recoil. I've got a good foot on him height wise, but I'm about the same size which broader shoulders. He's the dude that I look at and think, "If he can handle it, I can too."
I'm new to the channel but i'm absolutely hooked. Its the perfect blend of enthusiasm, history and guns. No small part is thanks to Mae, you obviously have skill but the sheer joy you get from doing what you love is evident in every emptied magazine. Keep up the good work, you rock! :)
That's an impressive assortment of old designs. It's particularly interesting to see functional specimens that have features that are evolutionary dead ends. I like how Mae keeps her thumb tucked in next to her hand when shooting rifles. Smart. The first time I fired a Mauser k98, I punched myself in the nose with my own thumb due to recoil.

It's amazing to watch how the recoil between different weapons of the era. Mae does a beast of a job with the weapons and show casing the operations of them. Its fantastic that this type of knowledge is being displayed for everyone. I love that about the channel, preserving history!

This is the BEST, yes TH-cam on the topic of military firearms using metal cartridges. I thoroughly enjoyed every second of this posting. To see some of the guns in real life shooting is very IMPRESSIVE. The photography was EXCELLENT. You were able to get stripper clips and ammo for some of the firearms is very IMPRESSIVE. The person demonstrating each firearm was very knowledgeable in handling each firearm. BRAVO to all the people putting the TH-cam together .

Seeing her shoot that BAR from the hip and the determination on her face while she does a mag dump is priceless. One Lady who is as tough as she is Beautiful.
But the BAR was delivered to US troops in very small number 2 months before end of the war= the only real use automatic rifle of WW1 was the CSRG 1915 Chauchat (280 000 was produced)...
I LOVE this channel. Everyone involved is a total expert, but with a sense of humor. When I was a kid in the early 1960s there was a gun store in Buckhead, Atlanta, Georgia that dealt in surplus military weapons. They had everything from the 1890s to the 1950s. My Dad used to buy some of these things. We would shoot them, and then Dad would trade them in or sell them and get something else. Absolutely amazing. So I've shot a few of these weapons or those similar. Those days are gone.
As a shooter, an historian, and as an industrial engineer, it's a distinct and great pleasure to observe someone who so obviously enjoys her work. Thank you, Mae.

This makes me mad at the amount of missed weapons and some ugly animations (The way straight bolt guns are operated) I will never forgive DICE for not adding a swing-out cylinder revolver (Colt New Service , S&W Hand-Ejector , et cetera) .No , instead we needed a Mars pistol , a Webley Fosbery and C93 .And just cut down the 1895 Winchester and weaken the round instead of adding an 1892 or 1894 Winchester for a lever Carbine .
I am grateful for the her competence, skill and even disposition while handling a varied series of firearms. They are well displayed in form and function. I am however still in awe of the top button in the 1886 Lebel piece.😉

OMG I am 82 with three daughters and one son. her dad must be very proud of her. The BAR was from my time in the 11th Airborne in Germany, 1956 thru 1958. I jumped with that weapon and lugged it many miles. The US Army had BAR teams but I never participated . I was however on the US Army pistol teams and we fired .22, .38 or .45 center fire .45 and .45 hardball. I am a distinguished pistol shot and my son now has my two leggs bronze and silver and the the gold pistol shot badge. This is not about me, but recognize your ability SALUTE young lady my hat is off to you. I'm sure your shoulder is a bit sore from all that recoil. What's impressive is, I never once saw your flinch firing those weapons. You go gal....Ken the grumpy old retired two time Vietnam vet with twenty years. Captain Ken Bartlett US Army retired. 1955 thru 1972
The bigger the recoil, the bigger the grin. Beautiful shooter, beautiful weapons and a beautiful series of days for shooting. Who could ask for more? How about a woman who is not worried about perfect fingernails, not concerned about sweating, and determined to fire weapons as they were meant to be held - complete with demonstrating the safety features and rapid fire. Well done!!

What a wonderful program Mae, something I wish I could do over a week! About ten weapons each day, ten or fifteen shots each, nice cold beer each night. The only one that revved her up was the anti tank rifle! Loved the martial music in the back ground too. A real pleasure to watch!

OMG I am 82 with three daughters and one son. her dad must be very proud of her. The BAR was from my time in the 11th Airborne in Germany, 1956 thru 1958. I jumped with that weapon and lugged it many miles. The US Army had BAR teams but I never participated . I was however on the US Army pistol teams and we fired .22, .38 or .45 center fire .45 and .45 hardball. I am a distinguished pistol shot and my son now has my two leggs bronze and silver and the the gold pistol shot badge. This is not about me, but recognize your ability SALUTE young lady my hat is off to you. I'm sure your shoulder is a bit sore from all that recoil. What's impressive is, I never once saw your flinch firing those weapons. You go gal....Ken the grumpy old retired two time Vietnam vet with twenty years. The bigger the recoil, the bigger the grin. Beautiful shooter, beautiful weapons and a beautiful series of days for shooting. Who could ask for more? How about a woman who is not worried about perfect fingernails, not concerned about sweating, and determined to fire weapons as they were meant to be held - complete with demonstrating the safety features and rapid fire. Interesting to see all the unique designs. Some of them function similarly as well. Now adays everything is kinds the same. Crazy to see how things have changed over the years.

What a wonderful program Mae, something I wish I could do over a week! About ten weapons each day, ten or fifteen shots each, nice cold beer each night. The only one that revved her up was the anti tank rifle! Loved the martial music in the back ground too. A real pleasure to watch!
