I am not a tablet person but if I had the money I would use this.
Before my the iphond i was a tablet user,before the tablet user i waa laptop user.
Samsung DeX makes a huge difference nowadays. I'm using it more than my PC to be honest, because it's so simple to just plug your phone or tablet to a monitor and continue doing whatever you're doing. Personally, I'll be picking this tablet up for digital illustration and DeX mode, because its Wacom pen technology is way superior to the iPad Pro's; besides it's powerful enough to keep up with any ultrabook. I only wish Samsung made a 12 inch version, although this size is really portable and lightweight.

Just got mine March 31, 2021. I watched this video and many others before purchasing a wifi+gsm unlocked one for $399 on backmarket. It still runs great and you won't noticed a real big difference between this and the S7 performance wise. The screen is amazing. Plays all games on the maximum graphics settings smoothly still and videos look amazing. Highly recommend for media/gaming/comic reading. You can get them even cheaper than I did but I wanted to be able to slide any sim card into it. If you were hesitant because it is slightly older I would say go for it and you won't be disappointed!

Looks amazing, but the price is absurd! That's up around some mid-to-high-end laptops which all have so much more power and flexability. I'd like to see this closer to $500 or so which would be much more compelling.

This was a really good review, full of information (with specs and benchmarks, not many do that) I just subscribed.
i bought this tablet so i can read all my fav mangas, articles, memes and watch movies with occasional light-casual gaming. i've also done some picture editing.
its amazing, no slowdown at all. the screen is really great for media consumption. it also make your friends jealous seeing the tablet outperform most of their phones lmao

I’m wouldn’t call it overpriced if your getting high-end everything in it. There’s such a thing as getting what you pay for. If you need a laptop, get a laptop. But not a $600 Windows laptop, you’ll regret it almost immediately.

OK, if that happens you will probably pay less money and get little or no support. Good for 2-3 years before it dies on you. Not really worth it. If you can't afford the S6 now then wait a year or so to get it at a lower price.

i just got this tab, mainly for my emulators. damn is this thing powerful for gaming.
I'm still using an old Tab 4 as my phone, no stylus, plastic back, and I glued a powerbank to it for extended battery life, and instead of cameras it has two fleas who draw your photograph...

Looks like the new TOP ANDROID TABLET. Your benchmarks sure prove it - 30% or more improvement across the board. Was concerned about the somewhat slow GPU, but your gaming performance appears to put that to rest. Also wondering if a less than optimized game could better be used for comparison as most high-end devices should have no trouble with current games - if you're interested in future comparision I'd suggest using World Of Steel: Tank Force but you'll need to run the game up to about 30,000 tanks killed.
Once again the only competition in the Android field I can think of is from Huawei, but it is yet to be see if their Tablet M6 (or MediaPad M6) will make it to the western world. I'm already using a less than well known Chinese brand, Xiaomi, and it looking like Huawei's are becoming as hard to find information on. What a lose to tablet users, particularly as Huawei still support the 8-inch format.

I'm planning to buy the samsung galaxy tab S6 Rose Blush (256GB) and the Samsung Galaxy S10+ (1TB).
I tried to get the cloud blue version of the Tab S6 but they only had the grayish one available for preorder

I have been waiting for this review and its strange none of the more main stream channels have released a review on this device. You made a great point, in an alternate universe if Apple allowed third party apps to be sideloaded that device would be the gold standard. I stumbled upon your channel by chance and I am really glad I did. Keep up the good work, you do great reviews :)

Love that tablet. It helped me at college with note taking; so versatile, reliable, and portable. My classmates were surprised when seeing how easy it was to keep my notes organized using One Note in the little tablet. I also remember them asking how they could take notes by hand on their iPads; which was not possible at the time.
@@davsdf1 it helped to keep me entertained during class in high school😂, after doing all my work of course. Sadly, it's sometimes painfully slow and has horrible battery life. Performance can be so bad that the TH-cam app will lag on playing 720p video, freeze the entire tablet and eventually crash. It's done it's time.

What tickles my curiosity when it comes to powerful tablets is to know how close they get to being a laptop replacement.. for me that would mean juggling through different office programs/apps, mails, youtube playing in the background and a comprehensive file manager all at once

@ZED Oh yeah its going to be amazing since I am going to get a m.2 nvme ssd for my boot drive and will get a 960gb ssd for storage, will be able to handle a lot of good emulators like even ps2 will run well. I might even get big box for it for my front end.

When it comes to tablets these days, most use them for media consumption and many just want a 10 inch or larger tablet for thst purpose. This is where it becomes harder to justify top-end tablets vs affordable ones. It looks like an amazing tablet. I recently picked up a Fire HD 10 for $100 on prime day. It happens to be all I need.
There is a 64 dollar Walmart tablet and it is literally the same as Samsung Galaxy tab A

I'm still holding on to my Galaxy Tab S2... it has also replaced a laptop during trips, but way more limited than this S6. No DeX, SoC is pretty ancient by current standards, no fancy keyboard, single speaker, microUSB charging.
But here's something that's a bit curious about it - it's still the lightest 9.7" tablet ever. Lighter than the S6.
Of course, it has far less features than newer Galaxy Tab models, so of course it would be lighter... if you take away the extra camera module plus the extra 3 speakers the S6 would probably be lighter. But you know.
It's great for what I actually use it for though. Reading articles and writting a few comments here and there, reading comics and manga, some TH-cam watching. I'd consider getting an S6 if I was doing more than that, but for now it's not necessary.
But I think things are gonna become more interesting now that a desktop mode is seemingly coming to Android 10 natively. With that, more devs will port their apps to work in desktop mode, which will in turn make Android more compatible to a desktop experience.

I have the tab s6! It's suuuper light. My guess would not heavy at all. Unless uou have heavy controllers!

Really nice piece of HW, love the screen, one thing really stopping me from using this, or DEX in general as my main PC is that MS Office is missing all functions, would it have that I could for my work work just with DEX.

@@ETAPRIME see what Wii games will run on it. I have the note 8 witch can run super smash bros brawl at around 40 to 60 frames per second. I'm using stock settings on my note 8 as well

Thanks for another good video. I like your basic no-nonsense approach to giving a thorough examination of specs and performance.
But, wow, this thing is so expensive! No way I'll be buying one. Even so, I was very happy to hear you say at the end there, that you'll be doing a review video on DEX with this device. What are the chances of doing one exclusively about Linux on DEX? It would be great to see that angle, since your DEX review on the Note 10, which uses the same processor, only looked at DEX on windows. Also, since this processor more or less foreshadows the SBCs we'll hopefully be seeing within a couple of years, I personally would love to see these things being pushed a little further, beyond the recreational/gaming/emulation tests. Maybe start testing the computational power with some gimp or cad/slicer or rendering tasks? Sort of like a "how will the higher end SBCs of the near future compare to the mid-range to upper-mid-range PCs of today" idea.
Please include Wii games with the Dolphin Emulator. I'd love to see how Mario Kart preforms. Heads up though, some level have a translucent blue box, so just try a different level/map if you run into that.
Meanwhile I'm still using my tablet from 2016 and it still runs good on android 5.1.1
