Biggest pain with Akuma are his grounded fireballs. They are ridiculously fast with great recovery. He can easily control neutral with those. Then he uses the air fireballs and then demon flip. His walk speed is broken. Teleport is technically weak, but your so focused on the other stuff from the mental stack it will allow them to catch you. Pretty much all his buttons space trap and his pressure, while having gaps, can be used without them and then just walk back out of danger. Only weakness is his health. U just have to outplay him and hope for user error. Good luck with that.
I can admit his teleport isnt the best of the best, but its also one of the most unique abilities I have ever seen and like you say, you are conditioned to expect everything else, that you dont see it coming. So, really its the player using the skills, and not really the skills themselves.... but it its because of a skill, expect it to get nerfed severely.

That opening is on point Mura. Out of a 2 hour session last night, I think I played 3 other characters than Akuma. (Gief, Ryu and Aki) By the end I just got angry and frustrated by the matchup. I don't think that's what Capcom wants their game players to feel like...but I don't know if they care about anything other than how many people watch their events. (Which is where they get sponsorship money from I would guess) It's almost like they're using Akuma as clickbait.
One thing you can do is empty Drive Rush when he is jumping. If he do his air fireball or a dive kick, you can punish the hell out of him. Unlike in other Street Fighter games, he cannot abuse his air tools or he will get punished hard.

Like with Guile even I can force him to walk back or have to approach me with boom DR to avoid losing ground or something, but Akuma just seems to be able to repel me unless I perfect parry his fireballs like a god. What's up with that?
I'd like to mention that I've managed to counter punish air fireball with DI many times. Its tricky and messing up is punishing but if you are in good distance and react fast it can work. But I feel Akuma is overtuned, even with 9k health, though this seems to be his reputation anyways lol
I'm trying to find ways to counter Zanku with Rashid without necessarily need OD Mixer. It's kinda hard to check it, but normally I'm using it perfect parry on the fireball and heavily punishing Akuma. Sometimes saving the LV3 to response it, there's plenty time to use if I see the fireball coming.

I've actually dropped out of ranked for a few weeks. Literally every single match being against Akuma gets old fast. At least casual matches have people testing out what other characters can do. The army might as well get in on it while they can, I suspect they won't be super happy when the first patch drops. Adding a hurtbox to the projectile and slowing it down seems likely. At least his air nonsense is nowhere near as good in a game with universal armor DI.

Right now, Akuma feels really annoying to play against. I'm all for giving him new tools and the low hp is a good trade-off. My only problem with him is that he does too much damage. What's the point of him having lower health when he can beat you in the same number of hit confirms and he's given all the tools he needs to overwhelm you on offense and turn the tide of the game on defense? Meanwhile other characters have less tools, some don't even have a DP, and they do less damage. Akuma is popular because Capcom wants him to be popular. They need the DLC money and they sure aren't getting them from Rashid
I know SFV was the same but it annoys me that you can't lab against the DLC characters unless you buy them. I'm not saying give me them for free but at least give me an hour in the lab every couple of days or let me rent them for X days with drive tickets lol.
Giving him less health is a lazy way of "balancing" him. I assumed in SFV that they did it as they didn't know how to tone him down. In SF6 it feels as though they again didn't know how to REALLY balance him.
I don’t like how fighting games release single dlc characters. In my opinion they should release them all or several at a time. Every single dlc character that comes out the first few weeks it’s nothing but mirror matches or a large percentage is.

I can safely say that Akuma is not touching the 5 clowns in the tier list. Ken, luke, Juri, Rashid and Deejay are still top tier. I personally put him as Top 7 at best. He is strong, but he is not broken tier like the top 5.
Aki can definitely make the akuma player pay if he doing dive kick or that dive chop move she can anti air with hk then cancel in to her dive especially when coated in toxin you can drive rush then crouch hk in to super afterwards it's hard to make the read between dive kick and air fireball but if punish the dive kick hard each time then should make the akuma player only use air fireball
