  • Recently installed my RCKilla kit from AllDogs Offroad, I wasn't able to do a installation video but here's a walk through of what went into installing this kit and some tips if your looking to install this kit yourself.

    I’ve been looking at this exact kit for my ‘18 Fronty for like two weeks now. After watching your video, I’m buying it now! Love the stance it gave your truck. In my opinion, it’s the perfect height.

      I’ve been very happy with the lift kit, enough lift for the 33’s and still rides good. Add the adjustable cam bolts, camber will be off a bit after install. Best of luck and thanks for watching the video.

      Clinton there’s not a lot of parts, the kit from AllDogs Off-road is the RCKILLA and I added the adjustable cam bolts for the lower control arms. My truck was new so I stuck with the stock Bilsteins for now. If yours is older or an SV you may want to add the Bilstein 5100’s to the kit. Other than that it was just new wheels and tires. I went with the American Racing AR933’s with the Cooper STT Pros in a 285/70 17. That’s basically it so far.

      If you’ve never done any suspension work before I wouldn’t recommend doing your own lift. You can do all kinds of damage to the axles boots diffs and ruin the ride quality if you don’t know what you’re doing. Not worth causing thousands of dollars of damage to your truck installing for a couple hundred dollar lift kit. Nothing wrong with paying a professional.

    just got a new 2020 frontier, Midnight package, so I have the 18 inch wheels. I am trying to find the largest tire without a lift kit. However, do you think I should get a lift kit to get larger tires on the truck?

    • @pro4xadventures345
      @pro4xadventures345  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just depends on what you plan to use the truck for. Off road use I would say yes but if it mainly on road I would probably leave it. Really just personal taste on what look you want. I personally like the small lift with the larger tires but had to do some trimming for the fit so there are some trade offs.

    I am pretty late to the game here so not sure if you will see this comment but after installed does your pro-4x sit level? I have '17 pro4x and wanting a small lift. the most common I have seen for pro4x is this one or readylift (2.5 inch front spacer, 1.5 inch rear). My concern with readylift is it may sit higher in the front. however probably easier install. I do not do much offroading so not too concerned about coil bucket contact if it isn't too bad. What are your thoughts? You seem to have way more experience than me in this field. thanks for video!

    • @pro4xadventures345
      @pro4xadventures345  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The RCKilla lift I installed did level a bit but the rear is still a little higher. However for me that’s fine, I’ll eventually be adding racks and gear which will add weight on he rear. As for coil bucket issues there are none as far as I can tell so far. The spring replacement doesn’t change the suspension geometry so good to go there. Obviously coil bucket contact can be an issue with the spacers because those do change the geometry. Even on road with speed bumps and pot holes you may still have contact. you can probably get away with it but off road it could cause issues without changing the uppers.

    I’m new to the frontier community. I just bought a 2017 SV. I was looking at a small lift for it. I like the idea of a added leaf spring for extra payload. I usually have a dirt bike and gear in the bed or tow a smaller utility trailer. If I we’re to purchase this kit would I still be able to use the stock shocks or would I need to purchase new ones? Appreciate your advice!

    • @pro4xadventures345
      @pro4xadventures345  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With the SV you would probably need to upgrade the shocks, I don’t think the stock SV shocks will have the travel you’ll need with the lift. My Pro4x can with the Bilsteins so it wasn’t a big deal for me. Mine does fine with the stock ones, I think their the 4600’s. From what I’ve heard from others most of the guys lifting the SV’s with this kit will jump up to the 5100’s. Pretty sure AllDogs offers the kit that’s the same as mine with the 5100’s.

    • @donniegardner6294
      @donniegardner6294 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I appreciate the response. I’ll have to look into it a little further. I’m not trying to go too crazy with it. It’s my daily driver and if I do go off road it’s nothing serious. As for the add a leaf with this kit,does it offer some extra payload? Sorry for all the questions..I can’t seem to get their website to pull up so I can read the description

    • @pro4xadventures345
      @pro4xadventures345  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would think it does offer a little better payload but don’t have any measurable info on that so don’t hold me to it. The kit basically replaced the over load spring with an additional three leafs so I would think it does. From my experience with it, which is pulling a boat, I have less squat now than I did with the stock setup.

      @@pro4xadventures345 I don't think you're supposed to be getting CBC with this lift since it's a coil over lift. At least that's according to All Dogs. That's unless you have a spacer lift as well which you didn't mention.

    • @pro4xadventures345
      @pro4xadventures345  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s possible it’s not coil bucket contact, if I jack the front end up so it’s hanging theres not much space between the coil bucket and the uca, like 1/4 inch or less so when I get the metal to metal knock I assumed that’s what it was. Happens very seldom as well, only if one of the front tires drops completely. Was down in the Ozarks in October and hit some pretty ruff trails and didn’t notice any contact so it’s totally possible it’s not that.

      @@pro4xadventures345 or do you ever kinda wish you had a 1/2 spacer in the front to level it some more. But I guess even with it level if there's stuff in the bed it'll sag.

    • @pro4xadventures345
      @pro4xadventures345  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Problem with a spacer is you’ll get coil bucket contact unless you change the uppers. Eventually it will be getting a rack and such so that should level it out a bit more.

    How did you compress your springs?

    • @pro4xadventures345
      @pro4xadventures345  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used a compression tool from autozone. Don’t suggest it though, the new springs have more closely packed coils and getting the cleats out isn’t fun. That’s the only part of this install I would suggest having someone else do that has a better tool to deal with those springs. It can be done, so did it, but those springs are a pain with a basic compressing tool.

    • @MeliorIlle
      @MeliorIlle 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pro4xadventures345 From what I have seen in videos it reaally doesnt seem hard. You compress, install, then remove the compressors.

    • @pro4xadventures345
      @pro4xadventures345  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The problem with the basic compress, like you would rent from autozone, is that the cleats are too thick, once you decompress the spring on the coil over you can easily get the cleats back out of the springs. I had to take the threaded shaft out so the cleats were all loose then get one corner pried out then beat it the rest of the way with a hammer. 8 times, which sucks. It’s not hard other than those springs, a better tool would help as well.

      @@pro4xadventures345 SO I have the double compressors with an impact wrench, from what I understand it is easy to compress. Once I get the top mounted and bolted in, it should be good to pull out, or is that what you are referring to is the hard part?

    • @pro4xadventures345
      @pro4xadventures345  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, the end of that process is the hard part, at least with the compression tool I used. Everything is going fine until you release pressure on the spring in the coil over assembly and realize you can’t get the tool out of the spring. As I said, that’s with the rental tool from autozone, other compression setups may have different cleats so may be easier, not sure.

      If mine hadn’t been brand new I probably would have, just could see spending the extra money buying new shocks to replace new shocks. Eventually will upgrade those but going get some use out of them first.
