  • I decided to remove the 4" lift blocks and replace it with 1.5" add a leaf and 2" adjustable shackles to gain more articulation for off roading.
    Note Torque Spec for the u-bolts is 90 ft/lb

      I’m glad I went with the 3 leaf springs. It gave the truck a much better ride.

    Nice job! I looked like the blocks were tapered/angled to lift the pinion a few degrees. How did do compensate for the pinion angle with the AAL? Does the truck vibrate any after the AAL?

    • @xbenture
      @xbenture  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Yes the blocks were tapered. The 2 inch shackles were enough to point the pinion within the acceptable angle. I have no vibration at any speed.

  • @imua808

    How is the ride quality with the aal vs the block? Im currently running a 3" block but want to swap over to a 2.5" aal with the overload on. Im hoping with the overload left on, itll be around the same lift as the 3" block. I love your truck! Got me thinking about going full 6" haha

    • @xbenture
      @xbenture  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On the street, not much of a difference with the ride quality. But on the trail with the bed loaded with camping gears, there’s a big difference. There’s less bouncing around and drive much more smoother. That set up should get you the 3” of lift. Thanks and good luck on your next mod!

    I see you said you left the overload leaf on. ADO recommends removing it but said it wouldn’t really hurt anything to leave it on other than make ride stiffer and affect articulation when off-roading. I feel like my rake is slightly too high in the back. Do you think I should take it off? What’s advantages of leaving it on vs taking it off. Idk if I should just leave it on or what.

    • @xbenture
      @xbenture  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think the overload springs makes the ride stiffer. They’re there in case you put too much load on the bed. I carry a roof top tent and a bunch of camping gears, that’s the reason I kept them.
      If you do a lot of hard off-road trails or go fast on the washboards, then you might want to take them off. How much rake do you have?

    • @ElusiveAura
      @ElusiveAura 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure on measurements but it looks slightly worse than stock rake. I’m prob gonna go ahead and remove them. I don’t do much heavy lifting/towing. 99% of mine will be putting stuff in the bed. Some equipment. Load of mulch etc and that’ll be here and there.

    Nice job, you remove your sway bar by chance? If so how does it handle? Thanks, currently have a spacer lift and shackle but planning upgrading to Billy's 5100 and add a leaf with a 1" body lift to my 2014 Frontier SV 4x4

    • @xbenture
      @xbenture  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I don’t have the sway bar anymore. It’s less jarring on the trail without it. Just be cautious on the highway and get yourself familiar with the little lean increase on the turns.
      If you upgrade the coil springs, those will also stiffen up your front end and reduce body roll.

    Hey man! When you took apart the add a leaf was it difficult to do so? I want to use the factory overload spring like you did as well.
    How does the back end ride with the add a leaf with factory overload spring?

    • @xbenture
      @xbenture  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s not difficult at all. Just make sure you have the right tools.
      The back ends rides like stock, maybe just a tad stiffer. I can’t even tell the difference now that I’m so use to it. Good luck
