    The problem you encountered regarding torque inadequacy at low/close to idle rpms cd well be fixed by a simple electronic correction of raising the idling rpm to a higher datum by the press of a button👍😁

    • @1000pscom
      @1000pscom  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It was not really a problem, more a change of the engine character. It works well from 2000 rpm onwards, but it's not as thumpy as the old long-stroke 411 engine, which some poeple are going to miss. I didn't really mind and liked the engine. Greetings, Gregor

    not the most beautiful bike, but for me I think RE have created a very useful and enjoyable machine, with nice features and characteristics for adventure and travelling. For me it seems Royal Enfield really listened to their customers and improved those key features they were asking! As you said, if the prize is reasonable, this bike should be a success!

    Hi and thanks for a great review. My main concern for this new bike is how reliable the all new water cooled engine will be. It seems all RE engines to date are air cooled. I have not seen anything on what RE may have based this engine on and how they arrived at this finished product. Do you or anyone out their foresee any teething issues regarding this new engine. Aside from that it looks pretty good to me…

    • @slakk5093
      @slakk5093 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Highly recommend watching the video with the design team lead of the engine. Very interesting video and insightful, like how they went with a semi dry sump so they could lower the crank to lower the centre of gravity. Also no one mentions the air box being moved up to the front so the bottom of the fuel tank could move under the seat also to lower the centre of gravity.

    Please, how tall are you Gregor? I decided that the Himi 2 will be my next bike. Always afraid that my 1,90m (6.3) and around 100kg look a bit massive on the bike. Maybe the rally seat will help? What do you think Gregor? Danke!

    • @1000pscom

      I am 1,85 m tall but a skinny fellow with only about 75 kg. For your size I would 100% recommend the Rally seat and probably you'll also have to adjust your handlebar a bit. If the suspension ist still gonna perform as well for you as for me, that is really hard to say without trying. But most of the qualities of the new Himalayan should work for you too. I hope that helps you a bit. Greetings from Bobi-land, McGregor

    Great first hand review. Your English is amazing, I say that as a Semi fluent English man in Spain. Your review really confirms my thoughts. The original was so unique. The new Himalayan is a VSTROM 250 copy. They only had to make a long stroke air cooled single at 500cc to retain the unique quality of the original. Ok it might have only been 38bhp or so but with a 6th gear it works have been enough. It’s a totally different bike to the original. That’s why on my channel I won’t be buying the new Himalayan. Ride safe and I have subscribed

    • @VivekNa
      @VivekNa 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      There is nothing in common between the V Storm 250 and this bike
      You cant make an air cooled long stroke that passes emissions these days - air cooled is dead

    • @martyn_g
      @martyn_g 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Mmm. Vstrom 250 copy? I don’t see it. The new Himalayan has a 21 inch front, more suspension travel, can do proper off road (Suzuki calls their bike a “crossover”) it has more grunt, and more versatility. If it’s about looks, the two look nothing alike - Vstroms are angular these days, (I have a 1050 XT) whereas the Himalayan has more curves, more organic look. Face it. Bikes need to progress. Look at the 1300GS. BMW has done a major revamp, engine as a stressed member, where BMW has only maintained the very basic profile, and people are losing their shit, lol. But it’s clearly a major evolution, like the Himalayan. On every metric the new Himalayan pastes the old one. And that’s a good thing. Sorry, totally disagree with you.

    • @thelayoffm965

    Great review! I have one question (ok two) that no one seems to be able to or want to answer. Regarding the electronic fuel injection can you retrieve trouble codes and live data through the cluster as on Japanese bikes? If not is there a specific scan tool available for Royal Enfields? I really think this could be my next bike but if I can not fix it myself that would be a deal breaker.

      Windscreens are a VERY personal thing, I’ve discovered. There are so many aspects which can make them effective, or not. You need to ride it first to see if it’s enough. Sometimes, smaller screens are more effective. I have an adjustable screen on my Vstrom 1050Xt, it’s more effective in the lower position then the higher one. I also had a smaller screen on my DR, and it worked perfect. But I’m 5ft 9, with a short torso. Someone bigger, or smaller than me, on my bikes might have a TOTALLY different experience.
