Of the many flight reports you’ve done, this is likely my favorite. Both of you are very funny; Maro seemed to be in a particularly chipper mood. I know what she must have felt about the salad accident; you see, I spilled a cup of hot coffee onto my neighbor on a domestic, FIRST-CLASS flight. The editing was really good on this vid, ‘cause you caught your “mistakes” and corrected them with script in the final edit. One of those catches was, of course, the MD-11 identification. The MD-11s “parent” model was the DC-10, and they appear to be nearly identical. The DC-10 (Douglas Commercial) was the last entirely Douglas-built plane. Douglas had started the MD-11 project before McDonnell merged with Douglas; but it was the merged company that completed the build, thus the MD-11designation. It is a common confusion by spotters.

Good evening guys, I watched this one in two halves. I woke up early this morning not long after you had posted this and watch the first 25 minutes or so. You made me chuckle a when maxi said we are going to refrain from alcohol as we had some drinks in the lounge and then announced but the drinks have arrived and we've got a bloody Mary with vodka. I'm sorry Maro but I also had a chuckle at the tossed salad. The Airport filming together with the taxiing were very good. As someone who prefers to sit near the rear of the aircraft I loved the view of the wing and the engine. Maxi you need to stop giving me a hard time about the barf bag lol, it is interesting for me that I have felt travel sick in the rear of a car and on a ship but never in an aircraft. On the amenity kit I have never flown long haul without one. Ice for the breakfast I've never had a satisfying aircraft breakfast so I tend to avoid them and have another Bloody Mary. I saw the flaps come down
Good Evening Derek, we hope you have had a good day, it was rather cold throughout the day here in Copenhagen. HeHe me (Maxi) and Maro mean well with not having a little drink but when the cart comes the words "What the Hell, Why Not?" seem to take over HeHe! A few drinks are a part of the journey and the fun experience of flying :-D HaHa, the salad toss was a little embarrassing, it was all over the aisle next to Maro´s seat... and we were to shy to film that. The rear of the aircraft is also our favorite place to sit as we also enjoy the view of the engine and wing. The Barf Bag will never be left out, at some stage we will tell the story about it ;-) Funny enough we do recall that we received an Amenity Kit onboard the Lufthansa A380 but not on this flight, strange. Breakfast was definitely not well presented, but as I (Maxi) mentioned in the video it was very tasty, a Bloody Mary can go down well in the morning too ;-) Glad you saw the flaps, next time Maro flies solo she has instructions to keep filming the flaps! Thanks for another entertaining and informative trip report. It’s annoying when they run out of the meal you would have preferred. It’s particularly bad when it’s the hot breakfast choice and you get to smell everyone else’s. That happened to us on AA. Nice to have hot towels and metal cutlery though :-).

Just enjoyed this wonderful report . If honest I was very much looking forward to this flight as I love the a340 and I think in a couple of years they will disappear. Looked a lovely flight and mark weins does make some strange faces when he tries local food so I did get your look lol . How do airlines get these Bloody marys wrong and I just don’t get it it’s easy . Regards to Kuala Lumpur it’s all booked as of last Friday and I’ll give you all the information in a message 👍 we can fly direct from London on BA or Malaysian airlines but if honest I don’t fancy either so probably via somewhere with another airline . Lovely to hear that you enjoyed this flight report with the Airbus A340, yes in a few years time most of them will probably have been replaced. The thing we love most about the A340 and A330 is the 2 seat window configuration, we wish the new aircraft types would have this 2 seat window configuration too! Regarding Bloody Mary´s, one airline who does get it right as far as we can remember is Qatar Airways, they have a perfect ready mix! :-D Lovely to hear that KL is booked, we hope you will enjoy it there as much as we always do! As regards flights, if we had the chance we would definitely want to try Malaysian Airlines as we have heard that they offer a good service ;-) I (Maxi) flew a few times with British Airways (1980´s) between Johannesburg (South Africa) and London, Heathrow and the service was very good. I have not flown long haul with them since, but from what we hear from family members who have flown with them and other travelers, the service is no longer what it was (I was not at all pleased with the legroom offered on their short haul flight between Copenhagen and Heathrow - see the video here: th-cam.com/video/y-h-fplnTjM/w-d-xo.html Very much looking forward to reading your PM about your KL trip! Gday my friends Well what a wonderful flight in a fantastic airliner,it will be a sad day when they do not grace our skies anymore. I like the seating layout also 2/4/2 wasn't it? I love the inflight display at Frankfurt showing the aircraft's exact position on the taxiways,when I use FSX flight sim it leaves a lot to be desired and is not easy navigating around a major airport ,especially at night! Food looked quite good ,even though Maro threw hers on the floor ! Lol. As you were transiting over the Bay of Bengal ,it reminded me of one of our famous aviation pioneers ,Sir Charles Kingsford Smith (Smithy) who was lost over that body of water with his co pilot Tommy Pethybridge in the Lady Southern Cross back in 1935,they were never found,I think the aircraft was a Fokker triplane from memory. The A340 is a lovely aircraft and our favorite part of it (as a couple) is the 2-4-2 seat configuration, it´s so nice to have the row bu the window to ourselves. Most newer aircraft have unfortunately chosen 3 seater window rows. The food was not bad even though we have seen nicer breakfast presentations in Economy Class, but as I (Maxi) said the breakfast was delicious, was not that keen on the dinner noodles ;-) Have a good day and lovely week ahead. I'm flying out to Barcelona for a 22 night Med/Trans Atlantic Cruise back to Tampa and will fly home to San Jose CA. Were on a LEVEL Iberia A330 in 5JK in the mini Y Cabin with only 3 rows in the front behind Premium Economy. I may try to upgrade to Premium. One way ticket is $280 with luggage, seat assignment meals/drinks and $148 from Tampa to San Jose on Soutwest! Sounds like you have an American Pilot!
Hi there Daniel, congratulations on the price, how lovely is that! We also have a 55 inch 4K TV and really enjoy watching High Def footage on it. The Good News is all our footage since about 2015 has been filmed and uploaded in 4K so most of our footage is available in 4K. Our TH-cam App that we play on the TV does not however letter us play TH-cam vids in 4K, highest resoltion is 1080 (HD). On our Laptop and PC we play vids in 4K without problems. Those cups come in handy when you want to brush your teeth. Bring a bottle of water along with toothbrush and toothpaste. Pour some bottled water into cup so you don't get your bottle water contaminated with toothpaste and such. Really helps.
Judging by your answer and the answer of our other viewers, you are right about the cups being there for when you brush teeth, we had not thought of that! Nice to now know what the reason was, thank you :-D (and for the other water tips).

Opening the different items on the tray can be a bit difficult. Once I was struggling to open a small butter pack. I did not thought about the fact it was places right beside the hot meal. The result was when I finally got the foil of the packaged the now fluid butter landed on my trousers. The rest of the flight I was smelling of melted butter and it looked like I have peed in my pants 😉

Lufthansa is a better option compared to their other star alliance partner & subsidiary , Swiss global airlines. I flew with them from ZRH to BKK, the Boeing 777 has louder engines , compared to an A340 and the seat pitch feels tighter than Lufthansa’s Economy.

Traveller - Air Travel & Travel Videos I would prefer Lufthansa over Swiss, as the Swiss menu from ZRH to BKK is pretty basic .Two meal choices I had. chicken aubergine ragout or South Indian vegetarian dish. Flight attendants did not come around as often as on LH to offer drinks, etc. I’ve paid extra at the check in to upgrade from economy to premium on LH from SIN to FRA for $300SGD. When flying in a boeing 777 with its large, loud engines means you need to have some Noise cancelling earphones to get some sleep. Have you heard of EVA Air? They too fly to BKK from AMS. I was satisfied with their level of service, since I never flown them before. But the best is Singapore Airlines, never had a bad experience at with them yet!

Singapore is a good airline but we feel that they are overrated as many of the other Asian airlines we have flown with offered a very good service too. Hi there Anders, thanks for watching. We enjoyed our flight with Lufthansa as we have enjoyed our other Long Haul and Short Haul flights with them before. They are actually one of the airlines we enjoy flying short haul with most because of the onboard service. To answer your question, "What did they expected?" We expected a better presentation of the food. Yes, we know this is Economy Class, but we have seen meals presented better in Economy ;-) Nothing "Snobby" about our comments, we are just sharing our opinion ;-)
Being on a low carb diet but demolishing that bread roll at the breakfast haha... On vacation carbs don't exist 😆 PS: The airport is pronounced "Suvarnapoom"
A great review with the salad moment as a culmination point. Are you still on a low-carb diet? Lol It's disappointing that nothing went flying during the breakfast. :-{

Love the overhead view of airport & flying!
Of the many flight reports you’ve done, this is likely my favorite. Both of you are very funny; Maro seemed to be in a particularly chipper mood. I know what she must have felt about the salad accident; you see, I spilled a cup of hot coffee onto my neighbor on a domestic, FIRST-CLASS flight. The editing was really good on this vid, ‘cause you caught your “mistakes” and corrected them with script in the final edit. One of those catches was, of course, the MD-11 identification. The MD-11s “parent” model was the DC-10, and they appear to be nearly identical. The DC-10 (Douglas Commercial) was the last entirely Douglas-built plane. Douglas had started the MD-11 project before McDonnell merged with Douglas; but it was the merged company that completed the build, thus the MD-11designation. It is a common confusion by spotters.

Good evening guys, I watched this one in two halves.
I woke up early this morning not long after you had posted this and watch the first 25 minutes or so. You made me chuckle a when maxi said we are going to refrain from alcohol as we had some drinks in the lounge and then announced but the drinks have arrived and we've got a bloody Mary with vodka. I'm sorry Maro but I also had a chuckle at the tossed salad.
The Airport filming together with the taxiing were very good. As someone who prefers to sit near the rear of the aircraft I loved the view of the wing and the engine.
Maxi you need to stop giving me a hard time about the barf bag lol, it is interesting for me that I have felt travel sick in the rear of a car and on a ship but never in an aircraft.
On the amenity kit I have never flown long haul without one.
Ice for the breakfast I've never had a satisfying aircraft breakfast so I tend to avoid them and have another Bloody Mary.
I saw the flaps come down
Good Evening Derek, we hope you have had a good day, it was rather cold throughout the day here in Copenhagen. HeHe me (Maxi) and Maro mean well with not having a little drink but when the cart comes the words "What the Hell, Why Not?" seem to take over HeHe! A few drinks are a part of the journey and the fun experience of flying :-D HaHa, the salad toss was a little embarrassing, it was all over the aisle next to Maro´s seat... and we were to shy to film that. The rear of the aircraft is also our favorite place to sit as we also enjoy the view of the engine and wing. The Barf Bag will never be left out, at some stage we will tell the story about it ;-) Funny enough we do recall that we received an Amenity Kit onboard the Lufthansa A380 but not on this flight, strange. Breakfast was definitely not well presented, but as I (Maxi) mentioned in the video it was very tasty, a Bloody Mary can go down well in the morning too ;-) Glad you saw the flaps, next time Maro flies solo she has instructions to keep filming the flaps! Thanks for another entertaining and informative trip report. It’s annoying when they run out of the meal you would have preferred. It’s particularly bad when it’s the hot breakfast choice and you get to smell everyone else’s. That happened to us on AA. Nice to have hot towels and metal cutlery though :-).

Just enjoyed this wonderful report . If honest I was very much looking forward to this flight as I love the a340 and I think in a couple of years they will disappear. Looked a lovely flight and mark weins does make some strange faces when he tries local food so I did get your look lol . How do airlines get these Bloody marys wrong and I just don’t get it it’s easy . Regards to Kuala Lumpur it’s all booked as of last Friday and I’ll give you all the information in a message 👍 we can fly direct from London on BA or Malaysian airlines but if honest I don’t fancy either so probably via somewhere with another airline . Lovely to hear that you enjoyed this flight report with the Airbus A340, yes in a few years time most of them will probably have been replaced. The thing we love most about the A340 and A330 is the 2 seat window configuration, we wish the new aircraft types would have this 2 seat window configuration too! Regarding Bloody Mary´s, one airline who does get it right as far as we can remember is Qatar Airways, they have a perfect ready mix! :-D Lovely to hear that KL is booked, we hope you will enjoy it there as much as we always do! As regards flights, if we had the chance we would definitely want to try Malaysian Airlines as we have heard that they offer a good service ;-) I (Maxi) flew a few times with British Airways (1980´s) between Johannesburg (South Africa) and London, Heathrow and the service was very good. I have not flown long haul with them since, but from what we hear from family members who have flown with them and other travelers, the service is no longer what it was (I was not at all pleased with the legroom offered on their short haul flight between Copenhagen and Heathrow - see the video here: th-cam.com/video/y-h-fplnTjM/w-d-xo.html Very much looking forward to reading your PM about your KL trip! Gday my friends Well what a wonderful flight in a fantastic airliner,it will be a sad day when they do not grace our skies anymore. I like the seating layout also 2/4/2 wasn't it? I love the inflight display at Frankfurt showing the aircraft's exact position on the taxiways,when I use FSX flight sim it leaves a lot to be desired and is not easy navigating around a major airport ,especially at night! Food looked quite good ,even though Maro threw hers on the floor ! Lol. As you were transiting over the Bay of Bengal ,it reminded me of one of our famous aviation pioneers ,Sir Charles Kingsford Smith (Smithy) who was lost over that body of water with his co pilot Tommy Pethybridge in the Lady Southern Cross back in 1935,they were never found,I think the aircraft was a Fokker triplane from memory. The A340 is a lovely aircraft and our favorite part of it (as a couple) is the 2-4-2 seat configuration, it´s so nice to have the row bu the window to ourselves. Most newer aircraft have unfortunately chosen 3 seater window rows. The food was not bad even though we have seen nicer breakfast presentations in Economy Class, but as I (Maxi) said the breakfast was delicious, was not that keen on the dinner noodles ;-) Have a good day and lovely week ahead. I won a 4K TV at a raffle and I can't wait to watch you on the Samsung 55" Inch TV via TH-cam. Are you recording in 4K if not can you try and record some 4K Vids? THanks. I'm flying out to Barcelona for a 22 night Med/Trans Atlantic Cruise back to Tampa and will fly home to San Jose CA. Were on a LEVEL Iberia A330 in 5JK in the mini Y Cabin with only 3 rows in the front behind Premium Economy. I may try to upgrade to Premium. One way ticket is $280 with luggage, seat assignment meals/drinks and $148 from Tampa to San Jose on Soutwest!

Hi there Daniel, congratulations on the price, how lovely is that! We also have a 55 inch 4K TV and really enjoy watching High Def footage on it. The Good News is all our footage since about 2015 has been filmed and uploaded in 4K so most of our footage is available in 4K. Our TH-cam App that we play on the TV does not however letter us play TH-cam vids in 4K, highest resoltion is 1080 (HD). On our Laptop and PC we play vids in 4K without problems. Earphones yes. Headphones no. They collect them before landing. If they give you an amenity kit it's yours. Blanket and pillow has stay on board.

Those cups come in handy when you want to brush your teeth. Bring a bottle of water along with toothbrush and toothpaste. Pour some bottled water into cup so you don't get your bottle water contaminated with toothpaste and such. Really helps.
Judging by your answer and the answer of our other viewers, you are right about the cups being there for when you brush teeth, we had not thought of that! Nice to now know what the reason was, thank you :-D (and for the other water tips).

It is the Koh Lanta Suvarnabhumi Restaurant. A very expensive one. I also thought it was a temple first time I landed at Suvarnabhumi. And many others too. :-)

Opening the different items on the tray can be a bit difficult. Once I was struggling to open a small butter pack. I did not thought about the fact it was places right beside the hot meal. The result was when I finally got the foil of the packaged the now fluid butter landed on my trousers. The rest of the flight I was smelling of melted butter and it looked like I have peed in my pants 😉

Lufthansa is a better option compared to their other star alliance partner & subsidiary , Swiss global airlines. I flew with them from ZRH to BKK, the Boeing 777 has louder engines , compared to an A340 and the seat pitch feels tighter than Lufthansa’s Economy.

Traveller - Air Travel & Travel Videos I would prefer Lufthansa over Swiss, as the Swiss menu from ZRH to BKK is pretty basic .Two meal choices I had. chicken aubergine ragout or South Indian vegetarian dish. Flight attendants did not come around as often as on LH to offer drinks, etc. I’ve paid extra at the check in to upgrade from economy to premium on LH from SIN to FRA for $300SGD.
When flying in a boeing 777 with its large, loud engines means you need to have some Noise cancelling earphones to get some sleep.
Have you heard of EVA Air? They too fly to BKK from AMS. I was satisfied with their level of service, since I never flown them before. But the best is Singapore Airlines, never had a bad experience at with them yet!

Singapore is a good airline but we feel that they are overrated as many of the other Asian airlines we have flown with offered a very good service too. They are actually one of the airlines we enjoy flying short haul with most because of the onboard service. To answer your question, "What did they expected?" We expected a better presentation of the food. Yes, we know this is Economy Class, but we have seen meals presented better in Economy ;-) Nothing "Snobby" about our comments, we are just sharing our opinion ;-)
