As a German citizen, i am so glad LH extended their usage of the 340-600 ( such a wonderful machine) and a getting rid of their "Dental Clinic" first class look with the new first class cabins.

I have a dear friend who's not had an easy life and had been dreaming of a trip to Europe while he was still able to enjoy it so a bunch of us connived and pooled our miles/points/what have you to give him an experience of a lifetime which included first class Air France and Lufthansa. After his experience, he called me up to express his deep appreciation and while the service on all aspects was beyond over the top, he said he felt out of place but he did say that the AF and Lufty crews who had been advised of his situation bent over backwards to make sure he enjoyed himself as much as possible.
Is First Class necessary? No. Is it something my friend will ever forget experiencing? No. Was it worth spending 30 minutes with a lovely agent from AMEX and using our points to arrange in order to show our love for him? Absolutely!

A340 is such a cool plane.
Travelling First Class is about so much more than the seat. The whole experience, from the booking to the collection of baggage at your final destination should be a joy. I particularly like the car transfers from the terminal to the plane at Frankfurt, it really did make us feel special.
The real red rose sounds like a Mafia thing. One day you won't find a rose. And when you realize "Where is the rose?" you realize, that you don't leave this plane alive.
Watching this less than 3 days after I flew on Lufthansa's A346 on economy class, I was quite impressed after I had bad experiences with Lufthansa in the past.

Simply Aviation is the only channel that has review Lufthansa first class and showed the way you can adjust the footrest. I’ve always wondered if it came closer to shorter people since it’s so far away. You also talked about having a business class ticket while connecting from Frankfurt after your first class trip and having access to the first class lounge. No one else mentioned that, now I know. I’ve seen just about every review of Lufthansa first. Thank you.

@@college388 No, there are way to many incidents (especially because of construction).......
Also the front simply isn't looking much beautiful or modern anymore.....
And the interior isn't anything special, too. In contrast to the A340-600, were you have better 2x4x2 seating, a bit more space in general and of cause the iconic "toilet room" which is located downstairs in the "belly"/lower deck of the plane.
I say it’s terrible, A350 deserves more love than the A340.
I had a plain experience with Lufthansa on FRA-HKG flight, economy class. It was 4 months ago. You get for lunch an ice cold eggplant sandwich 😂 and a mini dinner in such a long haul. No wonder they've 1 star less now. While on a 30 mins domestic Hong Kong Airlines I got a warm and delicious hotdog and rice bun + a bottle of water. Gotta love Asian carriers. Asian carriers in common = superb! The hospitality is just perfect!

I feel the a340 is one of the most comfortable plane ever made. I cant explain how or why but it just is.
Gentler acceleration and manoeuvres due to the smaller engines it runs with would be my guess.
The A340 is famed for having a very long takeoff run.

I am with you but think the A380 is even more comfy, "Soft take off", "soft Landing", not so shaky in the sky, not so noisy and better cabin climate
@@oldpeopleplayinggames9426 A380 is one of my favorite plane but if i am being honest in the a380 you do not get the sense of speed or sensation but from my personal experience a 340 seemed more stable however a380 is quieter and has more leg room and wider seats.

As a Hong Konger, I'd advice people to get a octopus card (since you're gonna be using it alot on public transportation and what not) so you can take the airport bus instead, it starts of either A (the express) or E (usually locals take it to work at the airport but still takes you to the terminal but slower). The cost is wayyy cheaper compared to the airport express, and you can basically find them anywhere in hong kong.

What a fantastic presentation! Thoughtful, detailed and easy to watch review. Yes it's too much but life is short and if you have an opportunity to do it with miles, you shouldn't think twice. I did that before Covid with Emirates First. I'm excited about the opportunity to be on Lufthansa's 747 on the upper deck this July. It's "only" Business but definitely a bucket list item that is exceedingly rare since the 747 ceased production and being phased out.
Very considerate of you to ask about the egg pan. I'm not a religious person and I eat all foods but I still found it very moving.

You should defiantly review Breeze Airways on one of their routes from Norfolk to Tampa, Las Vegas, or Los Angeles, I've flown them twice and the flight crew was very nice and I recommend you fly on their A220 but you can also fly on their E190s and E195s.

I flew actual international first class for the first time in 2022. In this case it was JAL from Tokyo Haneda to JFK.
I mean, sure it was lovely and all but I'm not sure I would spend the extra miles over business unless the difference was minimal, like it was in this case.

I understand what you mean about Lufthans's 1st class cabin having been surpassed. The seats looked barely business class.
Lufthansa provides better amenity kit this time, they used to provide an environmental friendly bag. And this bag is really well designed! By the way, watching from Hong Kong and here contains of the most convenient public transport in the world.

I only travel with miles and I have flown international Business Class on 10 airlines, but never First Class. On the few planes that offer First Class, all the additional features combined are worth about 50 cents to me. I recently flew Qsuites on Qatar from SYD to BCN. After 22 hours of flying, and a 6-hour layover at the spectacular lounge in Doha, I did not want to get off the plane in Barcelona. I cannot imagine anything they could have done to make my trip any more comfortable or enjoyable. I realize Qsuites is among the best Business Class offerings, but I have been fully satisfied with every Business Class seat I ever occupied, and I would not pay extra for a flower or an overpriced champagne. (I take that back, Air New Zealand was a disappointment.)
As a LH First Class passenger, I think you had access to the SilverKris Lounge (since Star Alliance members share lounges) at HKG which has a dedicated First Class section. I think that would be a nicer experience compared to the Plaza Premium experience.
I usually fly 2x @ year from LAX to ZRH and ARN to visit family. Always in First Class on LH. I’m as old as sin itself so why not? 🧐. Favorite seat/s are either 1A or 1K and I try to fly their 747 or A340’s because one of us is going to precede the other 😂

I flew from and to Hong Kong several times in all travel classes with Swiss and Lufthansa and have to say, catering out of Hong Kong is always particularly bad with all Lufthansa Group flights through all classes!
I’m sorry but that dinner service is just not even as good as many business class meals on other airlines. This first class (especially this one that’s not even a little room) really is just solely a status symbol. I think a reasonably wealthy person would be much happier in business class knowing how much better value for money it is.

Considering how empty the cabin was, I'm surprised the crew didn't offer to turn a different seat into a bed so that Simon (and that other passenger) could go from one to the other without having to wait for the bed to be made/tidied up

We are talking about Lufthansa, so i have to ask How much is "a few" for you? Because i know the state of their Business and when Allegris (not the name but the product was announced.
Mind you this has been years in the making, and Non Stop Dan mention how their ‘new’ business class product has already been delayed yet again. They’re so far behind in technology, for a German company and having relationships with Airbus they’re always late to the party. By the time they get to unveil these ‘new’ products other airlines will already be unveiling their next seats.
Fun fact: their new product doesn't fit their planes, which is something you'd think they'd check during planning. But we're talking about LH, so who knows.

It was nice to see you experience something that most of us can only dream of doing. The only "common sense" way to travel in international First Class is to use your points. Paying cash is for either the uber rich or for fools. 😂
Way back in 2017 on my very first trip to Walt Disney World on a rainy day. I've encountered the same problem as it was, and knew that something is wrong with the engines.

It is actually sick that you also had engine problems on a Lufthansa a340, I also had engine problems while taxing to the runway on a Lufthansa a340, but that was back in 2019 tho.

Service and food looks great, but the seat and IFE... I would prefer Finnair's AirLounge or Qatar Qsuite without a doubt.
The first class dinner is almost the same anc class they urgently need to upgrade the hardware product and also their service product ! So a lot of work for the product boys and girls !

Lufthansa is a weird airline. I flew with them from FRA to ORD a few days ago and booked economy on their A340-300. My seat was 16A, right behind the PE cabin section, and I enjoyed superb legroom - my seat occupied a whopping 3 windows, and being 6'4", I could stretch my leg fully but still manage to put my backpack under the seat in front. Much better than in PE. I would never upgrade to higher cabins, not until they renovate their terrible premium cabin.
Lufthansa A340 Economy was HELL. Would recommend upgrade to premium economy if you’re flying on on of these. First class was really something different.
Do You know, if the First Class Terminal in Frankfurt is also accessible for Passengers of other Lufthansa Group Airlines? Like Swiss, Austrian, etc...
Very interesting and detailed review. Is First Class unnecessary? Well if business is very good (and there are several airlines where it is) then one could argue yes. For rich/famous people then First Class is perhaps preferable for privacy. This product looked very good but not much better than some business class products and it is strange there is very little privacy between the seats

I've flown seat 1A on the 747-800i on LH, which is... phenominal. Booked it on points, wouldn't (and couldn't) pay for it in cash.
You could go via changi & get suite on SQ for that money...
I wouldn’t sleep to much. Want to soak up first class unless I was used to it
