It's official, Sam has THE dream job and position, that anyone in the aviation industry would love. He gets access to all types of aviation perks, from the cockpit, to the ground. I swear, it's not even a job at this point, it's a passion that he gets to enjoy and I'm glad he does. I'm pretty sure it's not all sunshine as the videos show, there's got to be a lot of behind the scenes and extensive hard work to be able to show us all the material. Just the politics in aviation alone must be a nightmare, just to even ask for permission to get access to some places. Sam, seriously, I'm glad I've subbed to your channel. You always bring the most interesting aspects of aviation and show the hard work that's put in by everyone, especially, the underappreciated staff. They help make everything run so smoothly, so passengers may be able to have a good flight, let alone be able to fly. I really appreciate the work you put in and keep it up Sam!

Nice to see that you at Schiphol and at Maastricht euro control, manage to keep all this traffic separated, save and most of the time on schedule. I just started gaming the best flightsimulator there is, and now I understand ATC much better. And as a Dutch citizen, I'm proud to see how high quality the traffic is handled.
AWESOME video! I’m very proud to say my cousin is an air traffic controller instructor at Schipphol! And I’m so excited I’ll be seeing her this coming May! And cannot wait to see your review of the now flying 777X!
Excellent orientation from this lady. I used to give tours at our Enroute Control Center (USA) when people would show up at our front gate and ask what we did because I enjoyed explaining to folks something they never knew. We weren’t near the airport so folks didn’t know who/what we were or what we did. I never said I spoke to airplanes. I just said I talked to those dots and the dots talked back. Utterly fascinating job.
As an ex-ATC'er, I can honestly say that you will be entering a highly stressed BUT absolutely exhilarating walk through your work life that no-one can actually explain and never take take away from you. Pushing tin is AWESOME.
Incredible, as i was almost landing at Schipol, these guys had their eyes on my life and the lives of the 300 people on the plane with me, and now i get to actualy see them!
I used to live about 3 miles from 27 (Uilenstede) and the noise was unbelievable but it was a great experience sitting on the patio and watching all the flights come in on a windy day. I could almost wave to the pilots!
I am so incredibly grateful for the absolute gold information in this video. I’ve been watching a LOT of aviation videos recently and there was always an information ‘gap’ of how things are handled on the ATC side of things. Thank you for clearing this all up for me!
This is real pressure. Forget Trading Forex or hedge funds or anything in Finance or coding under prssure in Tech. These guys get it wrong people die. Its that simple. Amazing, even with the technology its incredible. ATC is special. How did they do it in the 50s, 60s. 70s without the technology I wonder. Glad they have it today but what a life. Respect. Thanks Sam for showing this.

I've never watched such a thorough video & was shocked to see the radar room...I am one of "those people" who just assumed it was the tower doing all the ATC...What a job they have, I know I couldn't do it, well done all you ATC's out there!! I was at Schipol in January last year, awesome airport & huge!! I live near CWL & love watching the planes ascend/descend into it. Especially the big one's 777 & 747's going in for repair/upgrade! Such a small airport compared to AMS though! Thank you Sam..

Excellent video, very informative. Thanks to you and the ATC guys for making this so simple and easy to understand for people like me who are not associated with the aviation industry but curious to know about Air planes and related stuff. THANKS A TON !!
Hat's off to the various staff / controllers..for doing what they do...looks easy on the screen..but is far from that...the rigorous training and tests that they have to pass..not to mention ..the nerves of steel that probably each of them possess is admirable... thanks so much for giving us a close up look into this wonderful and most crucial area of aviation..
Thank you the people work really hard to get the plane to the runway and from the runway to the terminal. The air traffic control work really hard. The radar operators are also really busy since in the dutch air space is very busy.

One of the best videos on aviation i have ever seen
14:59 respect this lady..great words
Sam, awesome coverage! I'm Dutch living in New Zealand and used to spend a lot of time along the runways listening out and watching every plane and registration. Did you know that Schiphol is the only airport below sea level in the world?? It used to be a lake! Again, great coverage; you make me proud!!
There's many airports in New Zealand that are below Sea level. Eh Hawkes Bay Regional Airport
Sam, your clips are getting better and better, and I love the variety of the aviation subjects.
Beautiful filming there.
And so nice you visited Schiphol Oost as well!
Hope Google is rewarding you well, so you can keep this up. Best!
Are you paid to comment by Sam?
A fascinating behind-the-scenes video Sam, great content. Sat in our seats on ‘planes we really do take it for granted how much work and communication is taking place to keep everything running smoothly. Credit to those who work in this industry, I can’t imagine the skillset and mind required to work such a job. They deserve the high salaries that’s for sure! Keep them coming Mr Chui! :)
Wow the lady! She’s talking with so much enthusiasm. Love it!
Wow Maggie is over experienced, Man i've never seen such an experienced personel, Its over great!
I love Amsterdam, it’s a beautiful city! But Schipnol is an incredible airport with some awesome spotting opportunities! I’m incredibly jealous of you getting that opportunity to have a bird’s eye view! That was the most informative piece from the woman in radar. Amazing! Thanks for sharing.
14:01 says affirm instead of yes. Classic ATC behaviour
"Affirm" this word
fully emphasizes
the fact the questioner asked.
It is a proper answer
for her as a professional Air Traffic Control Staff.
Yes= informal agreement, prefered orally answer
Okayyyy then....

Incredibly well done video. The people interviewed are true professionals. It is the people behind the scene, professionals that truly keep everyone safe and they deserve a great deal of respect!
I was one of the few lucky ones who had the chance to visit air traffic control at VOMM here in India a few years ago. It was one of the most interesting trips I have ever been on and really gave me a great appreciation for the people on the ground making sure you have a safe flight.
Thanks! I fly to Amsterdam several times a year from Norway as it is just a short stop away and a major hub to anywhere in the world. Always loved Schipol and I have often looked at the control tower and thought the workload in there must be insane. Thanks for the tour, the controllers seemed really professional and friendly.
I really appreciate the work you put in and keep it up Sam!
nice.t
Awww I loved this! What an incredible amount of hard work. These people have to be on and alert 100% of the time. Great video and THANK YOU CONTROLLERS!
Indeed, they work a very intensive hour (could be up to 110 movements) then an hour off. It is a challenging but rewarding job as well.
Very cool video, Sam!
My son is atc’er at Rotterdam tower and works also at Schiphol as a approach controller. I’ve been there and, yes, it is a great job they have!
Thanks for this video!
Amazing what the people are capable of. Sam is a nice personality and is knowledgeable about the topic. This is better than watching mainstream TV.
Thank you 🙏🏾 so much for this video. It’s great to see what’s going on in the Tower of one of the busiest Airports in the world (one of my favorite too) and for explaining the overall control
structure. 🔝!!
I get stressed just looking at this
same lmaoo
watching this im constantly thinking if id have that job id have people killed bc of my incompetence
Same here, i thought it was just me lol
Miyiu KWfo me too
@rocknroller1999 sure you got that right
I thoroughly enjoyed the very-informative video on air-traffic control. Thank you, Sam! The controllers explained it clearly.
Our dutch accents are just huge. 😂
You dutch accent sounds better than any other accent in English. I am currently in Australia and there are a lot of Dutch people without any accent. Can't say that about my German fellas... 😅
@@lolxd7150 true not all dutch people have the accents but all germans do
Daniel van der linde yeah the most and the accent is a lot worse 😂
That explains why TH-cam's auto-generated subtitles are in Dutch even though everyone speaks English in the video.
In Dutch to English alphabet G mean fuck me😂😂
Phenomenal excellent visit with the ATC's in Amsterdam. Thank you for doing this very professional video for us all.
Wow, who else is just satisfied just watching planes takeoff and land from their phone

AWESOME video! I’m very proud to say my cousin is an air traffic controller instructor at Schipphol! And I’m so excited I’ll be seeing her this coming May! And cannot wait to see your review of the now flying 777X!
Wow! This lady sure loves her job, great to see that we are in such professionals hands who really like what they do!
"This is where all the magic happens"
When Corona is over, i shall be continuing my training to be full ATC in Somalia.
Happy national job
Kheer sxb🇸🇴💙
Amazing ,I'm really proud of you, are you training at Schipol airport Amsterdam or elsewhere
As an ex-ATC'er, I can honestly say that you will be entering a highly stressed BUT absolutely exhilarating walk through your work life that no-one can actually explain and never take take away from you. Pushing tin is AWESOME.

The way she explained was just phenomenal
I'm preparing for ATC and this video is so useful. It got me even more excited about the job! Thanks Sam!
An absolute banger of a video thanks Sam and thanks to the great controllers at Schiphol!
Love the lady giving such a brilliant explanation
This was a very good special report, now every time I arrive and depart Amsterdam via the skies I know what’s going on.
Incredible, as i was almost landing at Schipol, these guys had their eyes on my life and the lives of the 300 people on the plane with me, and now i get to actualy see them!
Feels good to see the people that have your life in their hands at that very critical moment!
I used to live about 3 miles from 27 (Uilenstede) and the noise was unbelievable but it was a great experience sitting on the patio and watching all the flights come in on a windy day. I could almost wave to the pilots!
This woman has made me want to work in air control
ab c if u can do it anyone can do it smh
I am so incredibly grateful for the absolute gold information in this video. I’ve been watching a LOT of aviation videos recently and there was always an information ‘gap’ of how things are handled on the ATC side of things. Thank you for clearing this all up for me!
That’s the part we don’t hear or see often. I didn’t know this existed.
Dutch people get voted to speak the best english in europe. Sam! Goed gedaan! Geweldig video.

The lady was very fantastic in explaining how all things work. I learned a lot today from her. Thank you very much madam.
What an interesting video! So clearly explained, especially the radar controller!
Great work. Very informative. The number of hand offs involved in a flight is amazing. Wow! All that done so seamlessly, through so many different organizations, allowing us all to arrive safely at our destinations. Keep up the good work Sam.

Excellent video, very informative. Thanks to you and the ATC guys for making this so simple and easy to understand for people like me who are not associated with the aviation industry but curious to know about Air planes and related stuff.
THANKS A TON !!
This lady knows what she is talking about. Very impressive.
I see Kenya Airways beautiful 787-8 dreamliner landing smoothly. Awesome to watch!
Thanks Sam. Very interesting and informative video, much better than National Geographic. Keep up the good work!
You’re very kind. It is hard to film while not disturb the actual controller’s work!
Thank you
the people work really hard to get the plane to the runway and from the runway to the terminal. The air traffic control work really hard. The radar operators are also really busy since in the dutch air space is very busy.
Too much inspired by the lady, she really loves her job, thanks to her for making our skies safer
You learn something new everyday, i didn't know it was that well organized with all of intergrated controllers handing off the planes to different controllers. Very interesting.
13:57 --> AFFIRM :) when you are an ATC and can't get rid of the phraseology even in normal speak....
I agree sir
Thats totally right 😅 sometimes we also say Negative to replace NO
@@hatinmustika4499 :) interestingly pilots are also affected, but not to the same extent. Nevertheless, I have been to an airport hotel, where the conference rooms are named after the phonetic alphabet, so I also made the "mistake" to say at the reception "room 309" with tri-zero-niner :D it was a bit embarrassing, but the receptionist didn't even blink.

Living in the netherlands close to amsterdam and having this tour was very interesting. Eventhough i am afraid of heights, it was good to learn what they do in the area, aswell as the noise they reduce by not using 6 runways.

Now it's very nice to even have the ability to have a walk around with these videos! Very nice!!!
