If you are a solo traveller who wants to experience golf in Thailand, there are many sports bars in Pattaya who organise and facilitate golf and it includes transport via mini buses with a shared cost..They get good deals and promotions with the many courses they take groups to..But your still looking at appropriately 5000 Thai baht for Green fees, Golf cart Caddy fees Caddy tip and transport.. But it's a fantastic experience if your a golf lover...ps..if you need to hire clubs, add at least another 1000 baht( thru the sport bar, not the golf club)
Great videos and insight into golf in Thailand. I've played most of the courses in your videos several times. Cost wise, you probably played in the most expensive areas (tourist) Phuket, Hua Hin, Bangkok. There are many other courses in Thailand, which are every bit as good and a lot cheaper. However, to access these areas, you would need to rent a car and stay away from the cities. When I started playing golf in Thailand I used have to print maps and routes in advance, long before before the smartphone and google maps ! I even got used to driving in Bangkok. Nowadays, with gps and google maps it's a lot easier (provided to look at the cars around you and not the phone !). It really depends on what you want to do after golf. If you're travelling with your boyfriend, the whole country is great, food is great and a car is ideal. However, as was the case with me sometimes, I had to keep a group of up to 30 middle aged, whining, beer guzzling, wannabe golfers entertained. That's when it becomes costly and restrictive ! Next time rent a car and get away from the tourist areas - I might even drive you !
I’m bringing some friends for the first time to Hua Hin to play , I know a taxi driver who has a izusu pick up and he is a great guy , it would be peanuts to get to the golf courses in Hua Hin , can’t wait for them to arrive
@@GolfwithShan yes so have I , I live in Hua Hin 6 months a year but never played golf , I’m just literally buying my first set of clubs after not playing for exactly 20 years , so plenty of practice needed lol
Played three courses in Chiang Mai including Alpine. As a 15 index, that one was very challenging. Alpine was as expensive as back home. Caddies were a bargain at 400 baht and I gave an extra tip of 200 for every birdie. If you don’t like holes where you carry the water hazards, you won’t like golf there. I played one course with water in play on all 18 holes. Overall, I had an awesome time on the golf courses there.
Hi Shan… Just want to say thanks for your review. You’re right on! Since I’m living here in Bangkok, I didn’t know much abt the problems visiting golfers from abroad are going thru, especially the transportation 😅 Hope you had a great times while you’re here & please come back again. I can even recommend some more nice courses. We are blessed with so many! 😊
Ive played in Bangkok before, one of the course employs aunties as caddies. They're the sweetest. Probably too sweet - they took photos of us put in on their facebook and insist to share their snacks around the course. Felt like golfing with your mom. For me one thing is we normally use metric measurement from where I used to, just ask them if its yards to meters and some of the caddies not sure on meters conversion so safe is you work out the yardage on yr own based on their advice. The caddies are well trained on golf so they are professional caddies.
There are a couple courses where the caddies seemed a little older, but yes, very friendly and knowledgeable about golf. The yards to meters conversation can be a bit confusing 😂 Here in Canada we use "yards" so it wasn't an issue for us.
Quite a lot of the caddy's actually speak good English, the newer ones not so much. As far as tips go, the 400 Baht you listed is actually considered a bit low even though people will tell you 300 is the minimum. I suggest you tip at least 500, I actually tip 600 for one off the rack, or 700 if I book a caddy. These girls have a hard life and 99% of them a lovely people, they live hand to mouth so don't be mean and tip a bit more.
400 bahts is the standard rate. If yr round is good and you feel the caddy helped you, then you can reward the caddy with extras. Especially when you are playing in a group, try to standardise the tips as the caddies will compare.
@@tlyeo6156i bet you’re from China or Singapore. “It’s the standard” Perhaps true. but they have no money, work their butts off in the baking sun and you have money and are on holiday.. be generous and don’t be rude. Which I also bet you are. ❤
@@David81515I bet you very judgemental. Try listening to what she said. She said she'd from Canada but I bet you were too busy jumping to conclusions to hear that.
I love golfing in Thailand. Originally didn't like having a caddie. Now I wouldn't have it any other way! Caddie are awesome. I have line ID and booked them for next visit. Usually tip 500 plus any snacks or drinks they want. Thailand baby 3 months this January. Btw bringing our clubs!
Playing golf in Thailand with caddie 3x a week is about 6x more expensive than an annual membership in UK, it should be cheaper than UK not more expensive and not 6X more
Hello Shan! Love this! I am heading over in February to cheer on Jeeno and #TeamThailand in my future home! 😃👍🏼🙏🏼🇹🇭 Of course I will likely get at least a round in in the month I'm there, and this is a great video to prep for that! Khap khun khap. See you there?? 😃😃 Do you have a fb page?
thank you for the amazing video. question: how can i add the ball tracer in the video as you did in your driver shot at 0:30 because i'm planning to film my shots but i want to make it interesting to watch .
I use Shot tracer pro (the desktop/laptop version). it's a paid application. there is also an app that is much cheaper, but on laptop you can add multiple shots at once and its easier to edit.
First time viewer and very informative. However, one thing I would like to add with tipping caddies in Asian countries such as Cambodia (never played in thailand - but have played a lot in cambodia). They are paid below minimum wage - some Cambodian courses pay the caddies US$2.50 per day. They are lucky to get half the caddy fee that you must pay along with the green fees - so very little. They may not have a golfer for up to week sometimes longer depending on the course - so they rely on tips. Without tips, they make anywhere from $150-$200US per month - so they need tips to survive. They have families to look after including their parents as there is no such things as pensions. So don't be a tight ass and make their day with a decent tip. They are very helpful and friendly. They make your day as enjoyable as can be. You get out as much as you give. FYI - my finance is a caddy so I know the ins and outs
Never paid that much for a round. My playing partners have a car as I do. Carts are mostly mandatory now and lots of water, cooling towels, ice are recommended.
Hello to my fellow Canadian Shan. I have been thinking of a one month trip to golf there 3 or 4 times a week, are there any lower priced courses or are they all about the same?
There are definitely lower priced golf courses. I haven't played any of them, I hear some of them are a huge hit or miss. I figured since i'm on vacation, I'll play the popular ones.
Of course, the costs are depending on the course you are playing but your average prices for green fees are way too high...green+caddie+card are mostly around 2000 baht during the high season (December to March) and 1200 to 1500 during the low season (rainy season) except on private expensive courses...I am playing around Bangkok twice a week over the last 5 years and played more than 40 different courses, never spent 2000 per round including tip for caddie (400 baht are usual in most of the courses). Huahin, Pattaya and Pukhet have some very expensive courses but you can really avoid those places and enjoy championship courses for the prices I indicated above.
@Richard Breheny close to Bangkok: Subhapruek, Panya indra (promotion every Wednesday), the Pines golf and lodge. Outside Bangkok 1 hour drive: watermill, Kabinburi Sport club (2 hours drive), dynasty, Lamlukka Golf club (2 courses, promotion every Wednesday). Except Panya Indra (little bit expensive), all other courses are less than 2000 bahts for green+caddie +cart
@@vincentgolfeur2549 thanks very much. Always better to get the info from someone that has done it. I've added them to my list and will start planning a trip later in the year. Thanks again for taking the time.
@Richard Breheny great, just let me know if you need more information. If you can, rent a car to travel and make a real golf trip. Some of the mentioned golf courses outside Bangkok have a resort nearby. You can play and stay for a very good price
One time I played at Lanna Golf in Chiang Mai- that and Hang Dong golf are inexpensive, and I liked by caddie and she wore number 13. So a few days later I called Lanna Golf and booked a t time with caddie 13. So I get there, and a different caddy was wearing number 13! I thought it was hilarious. I was still going to play anyway. Lanna let’s you take a shower afterward which is nice and they also have a pool but it’s closed on Mondays.
Sounds great, we'll have to check out Chiang Mai next time! Also i thought the caddies always have the same number LOL maybe she had a replacement for a day
I stayed in Bangkok and played golf, not book any transportation for golf. book the golf packages in golf apps, like golf savers. There are many courses that are cheaper, around 1200 to 1500 baht, get your thai friend to book, there are also many cheap courses if you know where
Great video. I played cheaper courses in the US but haven’t played in Thailand since moving here about a year ago. We are in Phuket and have 4-5 good courses. Not sure I want to pick it back up due to the costs. We drive here and , yes, it’s hard to get accustomed to.
Thanks! And yes, USA has a lot more courses and more public courses at cheaper prices. Phuket is more expensive than a lot of Thailand for pretty much everything (golf included). Enjoy your time in paradise 🌴
Those prices are why you vid bangkok, phuket and the typical well known cities. With those prices there are many better countries to travel to for golf vacations.
Hi, we booked through www.golfsavers.com/ We paid for a package deal including 5 golf courses in Bangkok. You can book one round at a time as well, just be careful of different prices on different days.
Some courses will let you drive the cart. Some courses will allow you to share a cart. Some caddies speak English very well. Some courses will not allow you to select a caddie (unless you pay a fee equivalent to the caddie's cost)). Every set of clubs we have hired are awful - especially the grips. Prices are about right for Bangkok - but cheaper days are available (promotion days). Golf much cheaper the further you get away from Bangkok.
Wow, that's expensive. I'm grateful that my county course green fee is $58 (includes cart, and obviously, no caddy). A very nice course would cost $120 and up. Thanks for the info.
I was thinking of moving to Thailand and I´m an avid golfer. Unfortunately the manadatory caddies are a dealbreaker for me. I want to play daily, but in addition to membership I don´t want to have to pay a caddie every round I play. I´d want to play alone without a caddie. Real shame.
Next time you go to Thailand you must visit Hua Hin.Way different than Bangkok and Phuket. I live at Black Mountain Hua Hin Golf Club. I think you over paid for transportation. Good video. My first time watching.

After seeing this id probably play a one off course as novelty. Also that golf mall is dangerously tempting..great video thank you for the info
Asia is a great option for us snowbirds in Canada 😂 they are definitely quality courses! Although if you're coming from Australia, I'd just stay in Australia tbh ☀️
Oddly enough, golf in Thailand is good value for holidays but expensive for residents, because there are no real golf clubs, they are all commercial companies milking golf players. Many courses peddle "memberships" (charged yearly), but what you get is a discount (about 50 to 60%) on the green fee and still have to pay the mandatory caddie (caddie fee about 300-450 baht /round and mandatory tip about 300-500 baht minimum) and sometimes the mandatory cart (500 to 850 baht/round). That quickly adds up, one must have quite deep pockets to play 3 times a week on a standard course. Compared to Europe where you pay between 1000 to 1500 EUR on rural courses (of normal quality) for a yearly membership with no additional costs, golf in Thailand is ten times more expensive.
Hello Shan, do you have any yearly cost info about golf membership (unlimited practice/play) in Thailand/Vietnam? Golf 'd be my #1 reason for retiring in SEA and I'd practice/play 5 to 7 days a week. Thanks for sharing.
Hi, I don't know the yearly costs of memberships there sorry! I've only ever vacationed short term. Golf and affordability are always among the top reasons to retire in Asia 😎 good luck!
Now that I am retired and no longer having that great income... I cry whenever I think about how much money I threw away foolishly. Experiences are the essence of life but throwing money away will bite you in the butt later on.

Golfing in Thailand and Indonesia is never cheap and courses maintenance are not that up to speed. Malaysia had many good golf courses for all player handicapped and the best part is it is very affordable. The most value for money in south east Asia. Vietnam golf courses are slightly better and cheaper than Thailand and Indonesia. Cambodia there are high end golf courses as well as fairly moderate price courses. Myanmar there are only 2 international standard golf courses all located around the capital Yangon. They are affordable. Overall the most value for money and golf courses conditions is still Malaysia.
you can rent a car for the same cost as renting the golf cart that's crazy. I watched most of the video's for your trip and it looked like a amazing trip.

Hua Hin or Pattaya is much better . In Hua Hin You got Black Mountain that is ranked nr 56 in the World.
Thank you for the information! Online booking is often the first thing we think about. Phuket does have beautiful golf courses and beaches, but in terms of cost it's higher than the rest of Thailand haha
You go off course rankings? having actually played a lot of courses in Thailand. Thai country club, Blue Canyon, Red Mountain and Stonehill are all better courses than Black Mountain. For a challenge Red Mountain is hard to beat.
Sounds like expensive golf considering you have to add flights and accommodate, plus transport. I think I'll invest in a round at a quality course closer to home. Thank you for the info.
If you can’t ride with your friends in the cart then when would you get a chance to talk with them. If this is true this makes Thailand a hard “No” for golf. It just doesn’t sound fun as a non-Thai speakers.
You can always walk from the fairway to the green assuming you're keeping up with pace of play. Unfortunately we had to take separate golf carts though
Wrong, wrong, wrong, you can drive your own buggy, with the caddy beside you and in some courses, you can share a buggy and the caddies will stand at the back. Hua Hin

I was there last year and played under the lights for the first time (beat the heat). I was with a Thai friend and let her buy everything and got Thai prices for everything, a bit less than what you stated...LOL. Great video and a big thumbs up my friend.
Wow that's great, thanks for sharing! They definitely up the prices for visitors 😂
Even with transportation. Thailand golf is cheaper than Caribbean golf. which usually starts at $250 USD . Here's a couple of trip suggestions for you. Calgary /BC area. Fly into Cranbrook and golf all the way up the Columbia valley back into Banff and Canmore area and fly back from Calgary. You would absolutely love it. Other place is Hawaii
OMG it is literally a dream bucket list item to golf in BC/Calgary! I'm saving your comment in my notes haha sounds like a beautiful golf trip. Thanks 😊
Gambling on the golf course. Play for 20 baht/player on every par 3. Closest to pin's caddy win the pot. Always fun.
I love that idea!
Hi Shan, Thanks for sharing this👍 I'm April from indonesia, I have plan golf in bangkok at january 2023😍 can't wait to get there🔥
Hi April! Nice to meet you 😊 Excited for you and your upcoming golf trip to Bangkok! Enjoy!
This is very useful information. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Sounds fun! Would love to visit and golf in Hua Hin one day. Heard great things!
Chiang Mai is on my list! Ive heard amazing things about the Alpine course, will definitely have to check it out next time I'm in Thailand!
Would love to revisit and play more golf! There are lots of amazing courses near Bangkok and around Thailand 💕😎
“One off the rack”
Tell me you’re a sec tourists without telling me you’re a sex tourist.
😅
@@tlyeo6156i bet you’re from China or Singapore.
“It’s the standard”
Perhaps true. but they have no money, work their butts off in the baking sun and you have money and are on holiday.. be generous and don’t be rude. Which I also bet you are. ❤
@@David81515I bet you very judgemental. Try listening to what she said. She said she'd from Canada but I bet you were too busy jumping to conclusions to hear that.
@@tlyeo6156rule of thumb is whatever the golf course charged for caddy fee is starting point for the caddy tip.
We used GolfLeisure, it's run by a Canadian originally from BC.
Playing golf in Thailand with caddie 3x a week is about 6x more expensive than an annual membership in UK, it should be cheaper than UK not more expensive and not 6X more
Correct
Hello Shan! Love this! I am heading over in February to cheer on Jeeno and #TeamThailand in my future home! 😃👍🏼🙏🏼🇹🇭
Of course I will likely get at least a round in in the month I'm there, and this is a great video to prep for that! Khap khun khap. See you there?? 😃😃
Do you have a fb page?
We can use our credit cards for booking game to save costs
thank you for the amazing video. question: how can i add the ball tracer in the video as you did in your driver shot at 0:30 because i'm planning to film my shots but i want to make it interesting to watch .
I use Shot tracer pro (the desktop/laptop version). it's a paid application. there is also an app that is much cheaper, but on laptop you can add multiple shots at once and its easier to edit.
thanks a lot ....will definitely make my trip a lot easier
Lots of bars in places like Pattaya, do golf days with transfers as part of the price. 👍⛳️
Make a complete guide for new golfers with no equipment looking to come to thailand just for golf.
Thanks a bunch for the information! 😊😊
Thanks for the info. Holy cow golf is expensive there in relation to what everything else in Thailand costs. Very intersting.
yep! Golf is definitely an "upper class" activity over there. Here in North America it's much more accessible and more common
Hi Shan - Great Video, Many Thanks 🙂
Hello to my fellow Canadian Shan. I have been thinking of a one month trip to golf there 3 or 4 times a week, are there any lower priced courses or are they all about the same?
There are definitely lower priced golf courses. I haven't played any of them, I hear some of them are a huge hit or miss. I figured since i'm on vacation, I'll play the popular ones.
Good info!
Would you care to list 6 or 7 of these courses? I'd love to try em. Coming from Perth.
Also i thought the caddies always have the same number LOL maybe she had a replacement for a day
Great info Shan!
😊
I would recommend Grab or Bolt to and from the golf course. Or I could drive and join a round of golf with you guys next time. :D
How much do the club pay the caddie given that your charged for the caddie in green fee
As an example, we'll use the 400 baht mentioned here. Each club pays the caddy differently but the club would keep 50 baht out of the 400.
hi, could you share the apps used to book a round/ find a group for golf in Thailand
Hi, we booked through www.golfsavers.com/
We paid for a package deal including 5 golf courses in Bangkok.
That's a great deal!
Hi can you give me the name of that shopping mall in Thailand you spoke about please
Which mall?
The golf one is called "Golf Trend (Thaniya Plaza) Shop" on google maps, near Si Lom station
You’re awesome. Great video ❤
Thank you!
Love Thailand. Will be there soon
Have a good trip!
I was thinking of moving to Thailand and I´m an avid golfer. Unfortunately the manadatory caddies are a dealbreaker for me. I want to play daily, but in addition to membership I don´t want to have to pay a caddie every round I play. I´d want to play alone without a caddie. Real shame.
Please tell me the minimum tip for caddie, like in vietnam is minimum 300k ~ 15 bucks, average is 500k ~ 25 bucks
The recommended tip at most courses is 400 Thai baht, you can tip more if you'd like
Whatever you get charged by the golf club for caddy fee is the minimum caddy tip, rule of thumb
you back in the six for golf seasons or still over seas?
We're back:) still editing and uploading videos from our trip
Next time you go to Thailand you must visit Hua Hin.Way different than Bangkok and Phuket. I live at Black Mountain Hua Hin Golf Club. I think you over paid for transportation. Good video. My first time watching.
Hello! After posting this video, we did go to Hua Hin and played Black Mountain 😄Loved it!
I would like to golf with you Shan!🥰
Going to be in Thailand at the end of January! Any recommendations on top 2 or 3 courses that I should play? Visiting from Canada 🇨🇦!
Ayyy 🇨🇦 we went to Phuket and Bangkok, so i can suggest my favorite from those 2 places.
Phuket: Blue Canyon (Canyon course), Red Mountain Golf Club
Bangkok: Summit Windmill, Suwan, and Thana City (but this one really busy)
Enjoy your trip!!
@@GolfwithShan Amazing! What were the total costs in CAD for these places? I'll be in both Phuket and Bangkok!

Wow i thought it would be quality courses for cheaper aud, seems im very mislead. Prices are equivalent if not more than here in Melbourne, disappointing about the compulsorily caddy, wonder whats wrong with optional, i think id pay to give the caddy a round off😂.
I enjoyed your vlog…where can I meet like minded women in Thailand to enjoy and play golf?
Nowhere beats Thailand golfing and service
Agreed 💯
holy a whole mall for golf lol would love that
It's very fun to walk around!
I bet you have a great back swing.
You have to have a caddy and you cannot drive the cart? Crazy. Can’t say I like the sound of that.
Now that I am retired and no longer having that great income... I cry whenever I think about how much money I threw away foolishly. Experiences are the essence of life but throwing money away will bite you in the butt later on.
Pretty expensive. And I have my own caddy. So it is not Thailand for me. In the Netherlands many of the golfcourses are cheaper. I'm amazed.

You can’t take a grab ride share to golf course. I heard grab is cheaper in Thailand. ( answered)
Interesting! Thanks for sharing. I would love to visit Malaysia and golf one day. Already know I'll love the food there, golf is a great addition 😊
For those prices I will stay in the US!
Perfect on the pricing.
There are cheaper courses but you get what you pay for
English is taught in Thai Schools
You can definitely drive the cart yourself in 90 percent of the courses.
Definately can not in Bangkok. Up in hillbilly country, maybe
Don't they have night golf there?
Yes! I didn't play any night golf though 😂
You forgot about when the best time of year is the best to golf in Thailand? Like when it's the coolest..xd
Her prices are really extravagant and she over stated everything...golf is much cheaper in thailand
Thanks for the $ info. I'll pass.
you can rent a car for the same cost as renting the golf cart that's crazy. I watched most of the video's for your trip and it looked like a amazing trip.
Hi, No You find a Sportsbar that have Golf tours. You get half the price. So forget online booking. I paid around 2000-2500 Tbh all included....And Then You vent to the most expensive area to play golf in, Phuket and Bangkok. Really don't know why people go to Phuket for golf.
For $120 I get five games in my home country on championship course,$120 for one game is ridiculous

Something screwy there when one round of golf costs more than nearly one months rent!
Wrong, wrong, wrong, you can drive your own buggy, with the caddy beside you and in some courses, you can share a buggy and the caddies will stand at the back. Hua Hin
You must buy a caddy?... strange
I get a grab taxi it’s cheap
I would pay so much to the caddie that the caddie would skip staying home from work and come and work.
