While I don’t have a problem with the Way Knives is in the original Trigun I really love how in the reboot. Him and Vash have more of a Professor X and Magneto type dynamic with the way They try and help their species. Knives(while going about it the wrong way) still did everything he thought was right for his ppl which is what Magneto did

I find your points valid. Stampede really brings out levels of moral and societal complexity that the original anime didn't quite manage. Though I tend towards Vash's viewpoint, I also see how Knives reached the conclusion that he did. Though, as many have said, he's the one responsible for the crappy situation on Gumsmoke in the first place.
What I find interesting is that both brother's ideologies are extremes that are shown to be destructive. Vash has all the physical and mental scars to show for his, but Knives' actions were shown to not only be abhorrent, but actually harmful to the Plants he's claiming to represent. Those last two episodes did not paint a pretty picture.
Thanks for your views and the excellently edited video.

It's the whole "ooo! TWO cakes!" Meme! Except in this instance both cakes are good for their own reasons.

This video's writing was good, concise, hard-hitting, perfectly understandable, not too complicated but not too basic, and well-narrated. Underrated.

I think I agree with everything in your interpretation except maybe for how you'd characterize Meryl? I'd say that initially she chooses a side, but unlike Knives... She's willing to see from a perspective that's not her own. That's the clear distinction between Knives, those who follow him because of his 'superiority', and other's. Knives up to this point cannot be convinced. He's unwilling to be convinced. He's chosen the history of humanity, their actions while being more enlightened than previously... And decided they cannot change. Meryl is simply naïve, and naivete may cause you to choose a side but if you're willing to open yourself up to perspectives that aren't your own... It's a very transitory condition.
I really appreciate you recommending me to finish this series. Once I started the second episode I finished it in as few non-working, non-dadding, non-husbanding hours as possible and I was incredibly impressed. It also lets me comment from a place of actual understanding when I say that this is an INCREDIBLE video on the series!

Pointing out every section that was edited for TH-cam copyright turns something that's usually an unspoken necessity, into an amusing quip. 😂

I've watched the first episode and my knee jerk reaction was very negative, particularly with what they changed with Meryl's character. Part of what I liked about the original Insurance Girls is that they have a degree of independence and agency (may not be the right words exactly, but it's what's coming to mind at the moment) that was rare back in the 90s/00s anime. They are still very much weaker compared to Vash, Wolfwood, the GunHoGang, but they did things. They could hold their own against the daily threats. And new Meryl gives the impression of the typical fish-out-of-water/perspective character/growth newbie character/loud and bombastic while not knowing what the hell is going on. Those characters provide a lot of potential for character growth, but it's not the mature and rightfully self confident Meryl from the original series. (also, Milly better make a damn appearance!)
However, I knew I was coming from a bias perspective. I liked the original Trigun, but I didn't remember much about it. I always held the Insurance Girls in high esteem because they were some of the first female characters that weren't completely sidelined that I saw in anime. So, I decided that I'll rewatch the original Trigun and then watch the new one before having any official opinion. I predicted that I'll either end up saying "they're different stories and saying which one is better is comparing apples to oranges. I have a preference, but they're doing different things." or, possibly like FMA and FMA:B, where I'll have a clear favorite, while acknowledging that the other did good things as well.
I'm currently a bit more than halfway through original Trigun, and now I'm looking forward to eventually starting New Trigun. So, thanks for the good video!
(Also, I'm a giant sucker for characters that do the whole "screw it, I'm taking this unsaid third option because I won't allow myself to be limited in people's narrow way of thinking!" Which is a large part of Vash's personality when it comes to saving everyone, and from the video, it seems like the new Trigun really stresses that)

When you talked about the sides and perspectives I was surprise you didn't mention Wolfwood's Stand and reason for his character, but then I remembered none of the Animes do my guy enough justice in comparison to his Manga counerpart, _yet._ I have faith for Stampede S2 though 😌✨
Well, actually, from the two I guess his 98 represent him better and the more "Realistic-Human-Middle Point" 🤔. But the Manga is still better xDD
And honestly, as someone who fell in love with the Trigun Universe in days after hearing about it for the first time with Stampede(I watched Stampede first. Then the 98 Version. And finally read the Manga). I can say that the three have the Trigun Core. I personally liked the Manga and Stampede a lot better than the 98 Version. But it's still good.
HOWEVER, the Manga is Superior and that's a Fact! 😂😂
Does it have chaotic paneling and hard to read action? Yes. Are Milly and Meryl more background characters than mains? That too. But I'm here for The Story, The Caharacters and The Themes. And the Manga delivered 🫶

If the manga is any guide, I look forward to Meryl moving from being firmly on all humanity’s side to being on the side of the oppressed and exploited.
She’s already halfway there seeing as her stance for humanity comes from watching Knives be nothing but a literal terror and the main institutionalizer of evil on Gunsmoke:
The streamlining of all the bad guy groups into powerful church organization, the Eye of Michael, as well as how Knives planned to breed himself more Independent Plants cannot be understated. Knives has political and religious power on Gunsmoke and he just uses it to experiment on poor kids.
It’s a “good” thing there’s a very human bad guy who’s gonna be playing a big part next season (Legato, Legato Bluesummers.)

When I heard they were going to make a remake in the back of my mind I was thinking they were just going to upgrade the animation I didn't think they were gonna actually make a completely new trigun. I'm going to always like the original but the no one is good to but I kind of feel like they may have rushed the story a little bit.

As a stand alone anime is good enough, but compared to the original it doesnt have the same depth and nuances the original had, the 3d cg was well done, still not a big fan of but at least they did a good job at it, but the emotional moments, the backstories and complexity of characters, the world building and the "mood" felt way more "silly" and didnt manage to pass the same dark dystopia as the original(at least not as well), in the end my pre-opnion on it was on point, it was well made but it would be very hard to be a masterpiece as the original, while at the same time been re-imagined enough to validate the need to recreate it, the personality of vash seem to be somewhat different aswell, a solid anime, still would recomend watching the original

I think the best way to think of trigun verse is that everything is adding onto one another. Instead of thinking the reboot as a replacement to og Anime, it's better to call it an addition to trigun verse alongside og anime and maximum Manga.
We can see it from the producer attitude toward the whole series. He literally recommended both og anime and maximum Manga to anyone who liked stampede.

I honestly did not like this version of Vash. Not because of the design or anything, but because I feel like he lacked that original strength of "being able to smile and be goofy despite his heavy burden". This version of Vash was kinda just a wet cat gif all the time.

At it's core, it's the same (it's after all a Trigun story). But the changes made to Stampede create a really big differences with the OG. They went even more by adding things and teasing future plot point from Trigun Maximum.

And can we just say that the glasses and coat make me rather watch cyberpunk because it's like copy and paste. Why is his arm like that. I'ma go watch badland rumble and go to bed night.....

well if youd give it a chance and finish the 12 episodes youd know that milly was literally teased to be returning to the series whenever we get the next season. many of you who are og fans seem to already decide stampede is garbage, watch only the first episode and use every single difference from the original anime/manga to give you confirmation bias to proclaim you were correct in calling it garbage and then never watch the rest of the series to see if you were wrong in making an opinion from just a single episode.

I watched Stampede because I like the 98 anime and the manga. Episode 1 is not great, but I finished the show, expecting to like it better after some episodes because it’s Trigun. Waste of time. For me, Stampede is a letdown, 5/10.
If you don't like it, don't waste your time with it. It's not necessary to watch the complete season if you don't like it after episode 1. A chance means "watch one episode", not "watch the complete season / show". Should I watch all episodes of One Piece (as example) before I am allowed to decide whether I like it or not?

It is a 1/100 compared to the original. This is not vash and this is not trigun. I tried I really did. Trigun is one of my favorite anime so I went in hoping even though after seeing the way the show looked and how vash looked I looked passed it. I got to episode 6 and had to stop. Nothing worked for me. It came it went and it has been forgotten as it should have been.

The art style is terrible, characters look like emo Deviant Art fan fic. Music is generic and souless. Almost everything about it is generic and souless. They literally changed characters. Some characters aren't even in it or don't exist anymore. I could go on and on and on. If you're a fan of the original, you owe it to yourself to not watch Trigun Stampede.
