It's incredible that hackers are doing way more for the community than Nintendo ever did. Great guide! I really don't like duplicating pokemon, so this was perfect for me. I just want to bring my old pokemon to the present.
Thank you for this, you answered many questions I had with the whole process. Most people don't care about cloning their Pokemon so their explanations disregard the concerns about avoiding it, thank you very much for your guide!
With the way GF and Nintendo operates, this info could be invaluable in 10 months or ten years lmao. I appreciate it regardless, I just want to help where I can!
btw if anyone wants to know. YES, YOU CAN SEND THESE POKEMON TO BANK AND HOME, JUST DON'T MESS AROUND WITH THE SETTINGS OF YOUR POKEMON (making it shiny, changing its levels), THAT IS CONSIDERED CHEATING!
@@jeffreybenefield2530 Im guessing it should be fine unless its something considered ilegal by Home such as a Pokemon with moves it shouldnt learn or shinylocked pkm.
Thank you I had my gen 1-6 living dex sent to Sun with Bank and I HATED it and wanted it back and this tool saved me. All my boxes safe and sound back into X where they belong
This PKSM tool is so powerful and well done it's absurd. I have recently bought, used and modded a 3DS for the first time and never thought such a tool like PKSM would exist. Now I can really complete the National Dex on my copy of Black 2 :D Great explanation by the way. Thank you very much.
Thaks for all the info, I'm already thinking about transfering my pokémon and I had a few doubts. Cloning seems a bit more safer to me just in case so I'll definitely try that. But I have to inform this just in case, the other day PKSM bugged my FireRed save and I lost a bit of progress, and Mewtwo, no idea why. I managed to get it back and all, but is something that may happen, so I advise to backup your saves before messing around with PKSM lol
I agree, cloning(which can be done with pksm/checkpoint) is the best option to ensure safety, some people don't feel like that is "authentic" though. My recommendation is making a save bu before editing and still editing the main cart, that way you always will have your original save, and can still do "authentic" transfers with your cart without any worries of losing anything. Someone mentioned using script injection in some gens can mess with your save, so good to know! I am a massive advocate for save backups. ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR SAVES. NO MATTER WHAT haha. For real though, even if you never intend on editing your save in any way, having a backup will only ever benefit you. Life happens, you might not have that specific cart "forever", but you can have the save "forever".
Just a heads up you can get your title id for your gba injects by going into FBI then titles. Just select the game you need the ID for and then take a picture of the id with your phone.
Another question. I recently bought an R4 card. Does that perform the same functions as the Cart Dumper you mentioned in the video? By the way, thank you so much for answering peoples questions. Not many do.
Yes and no. It does work for gba games, but since the 2 slot ds isnt compatible with gb/gbc games, youd still need a cart dumper for them. Then again, if you have a 2 slot ds, you can just transfer the mons legit to gen 4 from gen 3. If you mean using roms on the r4, I'm not super sure unfortunately:/ No problem at all! Just dropping a video and not helping out when I can seems pointless to me.
@@SleepyTaylor I do have a 2-slot DS, and a physical GBA game of Emerald. I do know that I can transfer mons legit, right up to Gen 7 and Home, but it requires an enormous amount of playtime. Each game that the mons are passed to have to be in post-game and have the National Dex. I was hoping for a shortcut with the modded process. That’s my understanding anyway. If I’m incorrect, I would love to know. 😉
You are correct! If you don't care about transferring them through an unofficial method, it is way quicker to just put the mon in gen 6/7 and then send if from bank to home. I only brought it up because some people do care haha.
@@SleepyTaylor Yeah, I do care too. The only thing that’s pushing me, is the imminent death of Bank in 2024. I do have everything I need to do it legit according to a TH-camr called ZdsPro, except for game progress. Good grief, I think you have pushed me into changing my mind and rethinking the legit process. More work, but ultimately more satisfying. I’ll put some serious thought into it. Thanks for the discussion! 😀
With the eventual close it is likely they give us a few month notice if not a half year notice, so I wouldn't let that stress you out too much! This will always be a great backup choice if timing doesn't work out and you can't get all the games progressed far enough:) No problem at all, I love to chat about stuff like this!
Thanks for the vid! I have a question if you can help me. I have my old 3ds with my nintendo account and a Pokemon Moon cartidge. I also have a second 3ds with cfw. Is there any way for me to send my pokemon from my cfw games into the old 3 ds and then send them into pokemon home?
I'm not sure if you can still log into account, but if so, I'd say the easiest way would be log in on the cfw 3ds and install bank using the hshop. My other recommendation would be, dump your moon cart for the rom(if you don't already have a gen 7 game installed on your cfw 3ds) and install it onto your 3ds. Then you can just move all your mons into the installed version of moon with pksm and trade them to your official moon cart inserted into your 3ds with bank installed. I think that's the best bet
So, would this work with the Pokémon games I have as roms through Twighlight on my homebrewed 2DS? or is it only for physical and digitally copies directly on the system and not through roms and what not?
Is there a way u can make a video on game IDs? I aint very tech savvy and im wanting to use pksm for my pokemon gen 1 and 2 VC games from the 3ds eshop
Here is the real problem. There are a few pokemon that cannot enter any switch game yet. So you cannot send them to sword/shield or scarlet/violet or legends or bdsp. So you can't send them with pksm and therefore cannot send them to pokemon Home. That means that for these pokemon, it is impossible to transfer them and they are lost until there is a compatible game. Currently I wanted to transfer all furfrou forms. This is not possible because you can't have them in any switch game.
Hi! Thanks a lot for the video, it cleared up a lot of things for me. However, I have a doubt. I edited one from my Pokémon in ORAS to turn into a shiny one, and now I want to transfer it to HOME; will Gamefreak detect that I edited it, or is there a risk of me getting banned for modifying this aspect of the Pokémon? Also, are Pokémon from emulators illegal to transfer to home? Also, I “created” a chimchar from pksm to beat Pokémon Black with, so the doubt goes with that one too. I’ve read that as long as they don’t have any ilegal moves or stuff like that, I should be fine, just wannna confirm it with you. Again, thanks for the video, a really complete one.
Glad I could help! I'm honestly not sure how in depth the checks are for legitimacy. I'd assume moveset, met locations would be the main 2. I don't think you'd get banned, at most they'd delete your mon in home. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful with your question!
Is there anything to prevent you from accidentally sending back Pokémon that did not exist in past games? I feel like I'd accidentally try sending back a Mimikyu or something lol
@SleepyTaylor which is the method (and consoles+ accessories needed) should use to transfer LEGIT mons from gen 1-2 up to gen 5 (b/w) without using clones? I wany that damn metagame Chansey haha
So in order to get my mons to the switch I need a physical cart use pksm to move them to moon/sun, mice those to the bank, and then move those to home.
It is indeed possible, as long as the mon isn't obviously hacked, it should transfer no problem. I haven't transferred mons to home in a long while, but you should be fine.
According to the 3ds hacks guide site, you won't have any data loss! It's closing on 8 years since the last time I had to hack a 3ds, so I don't personally remember.
bit of a stupid question but still wanted to ask if it was at all possible to transfer pokemon from pokemon black to pokemon home through this method and without the use of pokemon bank. i just got into shiny hunting and at the worst possible time with pokemon bank about to close in april 2024 and it would bring me a bit of relief knowing i still have different ways to get them across. i wanted to shiny hunt mewtwo on fire red and than send it over. again im sorry if youve covered this before in a different video but thank you for this video in the first place.
from my understanding there is a way, however it involves cloning your mons, cfw on both a 3ds and a switch, and a pc. I haven't looked too much into it, I plan on doing so when i acquire a switch with cfw. bank wont be closing in april, just everything else is shutting down online wise on 3ds. You can still download transporter and bank if you have a cfw 3ds/2ds from the hshop. Hope this helps!
Thanks! I'll try my best. If you have a cartridge, you can check it 2 ways, roms you can check one way that i know of. I'm sure you can check with a hex editor with either, but I'm not counting that. There might also be an online log of them, but I haven't looked. If you have a cart, you can dump your save with GM9(I show how to dump a VC game, but the process is the same but easier). With cart dumps, you don't have to load the game first you just go to the "cartridge" option instead of "sysnand". Your save should be named the games title id, or you can dump the rom and check on your pc using something like the New Super Ultimate Injector for 3DS. It will show the title id as basically right after you load your rom. This is also the method i'd recommend if you just have the rom.
Is there anything fanmade that lets you transfer your Pokémon from these games to Gen 8 and onwards? That's my biggest worry since we have no idea when Pokémon Bank is shutting down.
I have a question? So I have a modded 3ds with a couple Pokémon I want on Pokémon sword on my switch but I also have a modded switch and I pireted Pokémon sword and my question is if I can still transfer Pokémon with a pirated version of the game
I don't think you'd be able to connect to home if it's a pirated version of the game. If you can connect to home, then you can still send the mons. You can also, possibly, use pkhex to transfer mons to sword. I haven't looked to much into what you can do with a cfw switch, as I don't own one:(
don’t know if you well see this but my save file won’t show on pksm for black 2 i grinded 69( no joke) hours in it enjoyed it but i wana transfer pokemon from my heart gold to switch but if i transfer it to this game it won’t come out because the game won’t show up in poke transport and it well show up in pksm but won’t open it
So does it emulate the original mechanism used to transfer mons between generations ? Say i move a mon from gen 3 to gen 7 then to home it will be legal and seem as if it was transferred with poketranporter ?
You got it! I've transferred several mons into home and into newer gen 8 and 9 games, none have ever been deleted. My shiny Arceus even sat in home for like 3 years before I sent it to PLA. I even got my mew a battle ready mark in SwSh, so they were for sure seen as legit. The first time I used home, my sos shinies got duped somehow(good ol ILCA spaghetti code), and even those never got removed. So I feel like it's pretty hard to get your mons deleted.
I have a copy of Pokémon Black I had since 2011 and I want to transfer all the Pokémon I had onto Pokémon Home or an alternative, I want to restart my file so I can redo thing but want to transfer my Pokémon so I don't have to worry, does this method still work today on the og 3ds today? (kinda new at this)
I have a question. I’m getting a modded 2DS (arriving today), so I’m not really familiar with the modded aspect. I have 3DS’s though (not modded). I think that this video will be very helpful with what I want to do. Please tell if I can or not. I want to get and play through (digital) Emerald to the point that I can use a glitch to get Deoxys. I want to then transfer it to Bank then Home. Although I don’t really understand a lot of your video yet (until I’m familiar with the modded console), it seems to indicate that this might be possible. I’d like to know before playing the entire game and going through the glitch process. Thanks for any help.
Yep you are correct! For what you want, you'd want to setup an "extra save" in pksm, I show how in the video, it will let pksm see your digital install of emerald. From there you can send it to a 4th gen or newer game and start the official transfer process. Or you can just put the mon in a gen 6 or 7 game and skip most of the transfer process except from bank to home.
Unfortunately I bought a katsukitty cap card back in the day haha. I'd recommend one from loopy, they are more reliable. I get random disconnects with the katsukitty one.
I appreciate the Tutorial, it's been super helpful. But I can't get my hg/ss save, platinum save, or black 2 save to show up (all in twilight ++, forwarded to homescreen). Any help?
Have you tried using the Extra saves method? That should work 100%, I even tested it with pokemon white. It's honestly the better thing to do with twilight. If you say you have, i'll rip one of the specific games you are having issues with and check them myself. Perchance, do you have a link to how to forward games to the homescreen? Been meaning to look into that, but i'm lazy lol
Does this work with region swaped 3DS? I get error code 005-5958 when opening pokebank because it's a modded 3DS LL that was region changed to USA. Wondering if this option would work.
After this method is it as simple as buying the thing on nintendo switch home to be able to get them off 3ds? Have so many shiny legendaries on my black copy
Yes, and no haha. You shouldn't have to buy a home subscription if you don't need the extra room. Also you will still need pokebank as well. You can download it from the hshop if you have custom firmware installed.
Did you try the extra saves method? Just show pksm where your save is located and what game it's for. You should then be able to load it. This is for if you don't have the game installed on your 3ds. You'll also need to go to the all games menu and select emerald from there. It will never show up in your downloaded games. Otherwise, you can just enter the titleid, and it will pop up with all your other installed games. I go over both ways in the latter half of the video.
Out of curiosity, if I wanted to move mons I have from old games into Bank and then on into Home for one of the newer games in the series, could I or would this throw some flags with that system and basically ban my console/account? For additional context, these save files would be from legitimately owned, physical copies and the mons in question wouldn't be hacked in, hex coded in, etc. In addition, I considered using ROMs I already have of some older games as well (HGSS, DPPl, BW/B2W2) which require Transporter which can't be gotten legitimately. I did try looking around and didn't really find anything definitive to point me in one direction or another.
Yeah I should've been more direct with that, I only mention it in passing in this video, my bad haha. You can use this method to skip poketransporter and send pokemon from bank to home. That was the original reason I sought out this method. Shiny arceus can't be sent through transporter, so you have to use a method like this or pkhex to skip it and get them into Bank, then Home. I've sent multiple mons, including dupes(before I found out about pksm, the only method I knew involved duping), and have never been banned. Nor have they been deleted. I was even able to give my mew the battle ready mark in SwSh. My shiny arceus sat in home for multiple years and never got deleted either. Also I'm 99.99% sure you can just download poke transporter if you have CFW installed through the hackstore. So there is also that lol
@@SleepyTaylor Thank you OP and thank you Sleepy, this was my exact question as I have been replaying Gen 1 and Gen 2 on OG hardware and didn't want to have to restart on VC. This video just saved me countless hours of transferring and replaying.
Hi there. I was curious if this could be used to simply transfer from VC game to VC game as well? I’m trying to complete dexes but don’t have access to a second console to trade.
Yes and no haha. Normally you can, but there is a bug in the version 10.0.0 that prevents moving pokemon into gen 2, and possibly gen 1(haven't tested this one) VC games. You can move them out, they just don't save when you try to put mons into them. Your choices for cloneless transfers is to wait till they update the app, or if you know how to compile apps from github, you can compile the app yourself. The code on their github is always up to date and patched, they just wait to push actual updates. I unfortunately don't know how, but I can't imagine it is too difficult to compile code into an app. It just looks like you need to download a few programs. Either way you choose, once it is done, you'll be able to use the pksm storage as a termp holder for your mons to send them to your other VC games.
Please help I’m trying to use this but when I try to use pksm it doesn’t look like you’re it makes me pick the game idk if that’s an older version or something but when I try to scan the QR code it won’t download
My guess is you have an old version of pksm, and possibly cfw. Is your cfw up to date? My guess is your luma hasn't been updated in a while, so it isn't compatible with the latest version of PKSM. If you are up to date, I'd try downloading the .cia of pksm from github and manually installing the app.
I play older generation Pokemon games from the DS thanks to Twilight Menu, and I was wondering if I could transfer my 4, and 5 gen mons to the 6 gen, and then into the 7 gen with PKSM, so I can transfer them to the PokeBank... Is that possible? Nothing will happens to my mons if I use this method? Will my Pokemon be legal?
Yep you are all good. At most, some people have reported some mons changing gender, which is a super easy fix. You just use editor and change it to the correct gender. Other than that you are all good to go.
I had an issue opening my backup files; a message appeared stating: "Backup couldn't be opened!" So far, so good. It wasn't until I transferred some Pokémon from my SoulSilver game to HeartGold for training that, upon returning to transfer them back to my SoulSilver game a few days later, they inexplicably disappeared. I want to recover them, and I'm not sure if you know anything about this.
@JulioBread So I just tested it out and had no issue. Sent 2 mons from SS to HG, did some battles and leveled both up with rare candies. Then I sent them back to SS and they were still there. I've never heard of them getting deleted randomly days later for no reason. I'll check back in a few days just to be safe. I also realized after typing all this out that it seems that your mons disappeared on your HG file, so i'll move mine back and leave them there. You said something about a backup error? Were you trying to load a savefile backup and not the cart? Or did it say the error when trying to make a backup? Did you make sure that you sent the mon back to your SS savefile and not back to one of your save backups? If you did send it to a save bu, then you'd need to restore that save to your cart first. Which can be done with checkpoint The only way I have ever made a pokemon disappear is doing this. -Mon is in my pksm storage that I want to send to a new game. -Open game to send the mon to. -After moving the pokemon from the pksm storage to the games pc box, I save changes. -After that I didn't press the blue save button to save the changes to my cartridge and backed out of the editor ignoring the warnings. This might also happen if you tried to close app without saving your changes, but have saved your PKSM storage changes already. Never tested it, just assuming it'd have the same results. In this case the pokemon was essentially in limbo when I closed the app. Since the pksm storage was updated to not have them, and the save I was editing was not stored to my cartridge yet, the mon got deleted.
Hi, I’ve got a bit of a problem: so I’ve got Pokémon emerald installed as a CIA (I’ve got it as a virtual console on my home menu just like you) and i followed the Title ID method exactly as you did, even going back and making sure I used the correct ID, but it keeps telling me “Title ID not found”. Any idea on how I can fix this?
So I haven’t done any modding to my 2ds and I am wondering how safe this is for my 2ds. Also how can I get my 2ds Pokémon onto switch after Pokémon bank shuts down?
As long as you follow the instructions, and don't skip steps, you basically have a zero percent chance of bricking your system. There may or may not be a big box store that you can get a 2ds at, try to add cfw, and return it if you do mess something up. I'd only recommend that if you are REALLLLLLLLLLY afraid of doing something wrong. Once pokemon bank shuts down, the only way, that I know of, would require having a Switch with CFW a well. PKSM has a Switch app(that they now are focusing more time on) that allows you to move mons from your 3ds PKSM storage to your Switch PKSM storage. I think switch pksm only works for let's go and SwSh at the moment. In time they will add more titles.
Is there a way to transfer pokemon from 3ds to pokemon home now since there is no more pokemon bank or is this the way since i havent watched the full vid, also I had pokemon x physical cartridge but now it wont even load up if i put the cartridge in and will act as if theres ni game in there at all so i was wondering if i get pokemon x a new cartridge will my old save go to the game since it might be saved on the ds?
This is more for transferring between gens, 1-7. Sadly, only certain mons can be moved to gen 8+ unofficially and it requires cfw on both your 3/2ds and your switch. If you install CFW, you can still redownload pokemon transporter and pokebank. I linked them to someone else in the comments. ds/3ds game saves are stored on the cart, not on the system, unlike the switch. You could try to clean the contacts on the cart, it might help. If checkpoint(save back up app installed with CFW) detects the save, you can make a backup of it and move the save to another copy of X if you wanted.
Thanks for the tutorial. I have a new nintendo 2ds XL in the latest update without any mods. Can i still instal CFW on it? Or what can i do. I just want acces to poke bank since the eshop shutdown
I would just double check that luma works on the update you are on. You can just google does luma3ds work on version(whatever is in your settings). They are normally super quick about putting out patches, if you even still have to update every patch. As long as thats good, go ahead a install cfw and go grab bank from the hshop!
Hello, I’ve had my copy of Pokemon Y from when I was a kid, but never transferred my Pokemon to Bank, or ever owned Bank. Is this a legitimate way to transfer them over to be used in future games despite them never being saved?
Honestly I'm not sure about that. You can for sure still get bank with the hshop, but I don't know if bank will let new people make an account, if you even need one. I'd say it's worth a shot!
They do have one for switch! It just only works with lets go and SwSh I believe. They said they want to put more focus into it now that they have covered all the gens pre switch.
I noticed that you were active in the comments and i was hoping to get some help. I watched your whole video but i wasn't 100% sure if what I'm doing is the right process. I have roms of many ds pokemon games and 1 physical cartridge of a 3ds pokemon game, i have pksm and a homebrewed 2ds xl, i just wanna know how to get the pokemon from the roms to the game is all. I've gone through so many videos looking for help but none seem to be what I'm looking for, I just hope you gave the answer.
Yeah I always try to help where I can! Are the roms on your pc or on your 2ds xl? If they are on your pc, you'll have a few options. PKHEX will let you move individual pokemon from saves, however you do this by making a clone of the mon. I have a video on this method, it's the "how to skip pokebank" video, or something like that, it's one of my most popular videos. The other choice is to install the games on your 2ds, then follow the extra saves or tittle id sections of this video(depending on if you installed them by CIAs or by just using twilight menu). The second one has more "setup" to it, but the end result is clone-less transfers. Of course, if they are already installed on your 2ds, then most of the annoying parts are done.
any game from game boy allllllll the way to 3ds! With a caveat that ds roms run in an app called twilight menu, other than that, they can all be installed and launched from your 3ds homescreen. I think there is a way to make a ds shortcut so you don't have to open twilight menu every time, but I haven't looked into it much. As for events, all of them. From gen 3-7 at least, maybe gen 8 too. PKSM is a pretty handy tool!
When transferring Pokemon, say I wanted to use a Pokemon from an old game in an online battle or even compete at an event, do my mons get flagged as hacked or illegal?
I think the only time they can't be used is if they are pretty obvious hacks. Like illegal moves and so on. In SWSH, you had to get a mark/ribbon before using them, but you should be able to. They let me put one on my shiny English mew. Hunted legit, cheated to get to the island, but still not technically a legal mon.
The games that appear in the video were all installed directly to the console. I had to manually add emerald to pksm using title ids. I don't remember the exact process for the twilight menu. Someone mentioned it in the comments, so feel free to look back. You can use the title id method if you look up how the other person managed it. You can also use the extra save option as well and just direct pksm to where your save is. I show both title ids and extra saves in the latter part of the video.
I need to send a female hidden ability form Gen 6 to Gen 5 cuz I have no way to obtain one in BW2 & have a ton I breaded in Y & OR Non of them have hacks & I never used AR on my BW2 Carts, just bought them this year & with that brief excerpt I have a few questions Will this method work & if so will it register as a clone, for a bit of context my original file was on my a hard copy of Y & OR but I have copied those files onto the digital version of the game with JKSM not NDS Forwarder so I have 2 copies of both my files but I really only ever use the cart & back up my digital whenever I get a lot of progress & save I have a backup of my save file too however but if I restore that save onto my cart will it register as a cloned file or cloned Pokes, just asking cuz I’ve been worried about doing so cuz my homebrew 3DS is a different one then my NNID 3DS & if I ever wanna send mons to Bank & home I have to use my Cart & don’t want it to become invalid Lastly if I send the female Hidden Ability Eevee to Gen 5 & use it to breed more HA Eevee’s can I migrate them to Gen 6 using the official PokeTransfer method as I have all the subscription EShop Purchases for PokeBank on my NNID 3DS If anyone can clarify or enlighten me on any of these processes I’d gravely appreciate it as I’m not trying to dupe or hack Pocket monsters just trying to not lose my files again & make tons of hidden ability Eeveelutions in/from Unova as well
Well PKSM did work for me however it keep switching my Eevee’s gender to male whether I sent a female or male Eevee & the hidden ability can only be passed down via the female in Gen5 So I ended up sending a box of em cuz I had tons of boxes full of Anticipation Eevee’s from back when I was IV grinding in Y & luckily one of them remained Female😁 Idk why it’s like that thou, maybe it has to do with Eevee’s gender ratio in BW2 compared to XY but I can finally start an Eevee farm in Unova😅
Sorry I'm just now getting back to you! So someone else mentioned that their mon changed gender as well. It might be an issue with the converter, they will most likely fix if someone mentions it on their github or discord. If your pokemon changes gender, you can open editor in pksm and just swap the gender back to the correct one. Any time you restore a save file, you are just manually doing what official methods do automatically. When you use bank/home they don't edit your save directly. They make a copy, allow you to make edits, and then apply your new save to your game if you choose to save the changes. It's worked this way all the back to stadium 2 that I know first hand. So most likely stadium one worked the same as well. All this to say, you don't ever have to worry about a "clone status" or file, or anything like that. Also you should be able to breed the HA mon and send them up officially no problem! Hope this helped, let me know if you have any other questions!
I want to use my save from my physical emerald copy on my 3ds. If I copy it to a r4 then import it using gm9 on my 3ds will it be my actual pokemon or duplicates?
Thats a gray area. It depends on if you consider save backups as cloning your mons. You will have to back up your save, you can apply your changes to the cart after you make them. If it makes you feel better about it, that's essentially what all bank systems do, including the official ones. They backup your save data, let you make changes to the backup, then you decide to apply that new backup or not to your cartridge. So you are just manually doing what the bank system does for you. Some people still don't consider that authentic, but that's subjective.
So if I wanted to get mons from Emerald to Home, would I first get them from Emerald to something like Ultramoon, from there to Bank and from there to Home?
It does and doesn't. It's backwards compatible, using this method, for only Gen 7 and lower. There may be a way to send a bdsp Lucario back, you will need a cfw switch, and even then, I'm not entirely sure you can. Since I don't have one, I've never been able to test it out, sorry:(
Do you know why holding items desappear when i transfer from gen 4 to 5,6 or 7? Like, when i transfer my Venusaur from LF to HGSS with an holding item i was able to, without problem, and pick up the item on the game, but when i tried the same thing transfering from HGSS to ORAS the item just desappear, and if i transfer that pokemon back from ORAS to HGSS it change the nature too. I can`t find a reason neither a solution to this...
Honestly I'm not sure, it could be a conversion bug. However with pksm you can just give yourself the item back, same with fixing natures. You can edit/fix mons in the editor
so my silly ass decided to go through the long and pain staking process of getting a legit shiny mew and didn't realize i didn't have transporter. Im gonna try this and hopefully not let that work be for nothing..
RIP! You can for sure use this method to transfer mew. Also with CFW, you can just download poketransporter and do it officially, if thats more your thing! It can be found on the hshop. Edit. Congrats on getting shiny mew regardless!
Is it possible to obtain the title ID if you didn't use new super ultimate injector for GBA games? I started playing fire red of my 3DS and have been trying to find out how to obtain the files and what files are needed in order to place it into new super ultimate injector (with no success). Do you have any ideas how to solve this issue? Thank you.
Yep, you just need to dump your save file with godmode9. I show how in the video. The name of the file should be your title id. I don't remember much about the Injector because it's been a while, but I remember just needing to add the rom of the game I wanted to make a .cia
If you used ultimate injected you can use checkpoint to back the games data and it’ll be on your sd card… you can then always restore and or keep the back up.
I don’t know how to do that, sorry:( Personally I would just use the save from my emulated game and open it in pksm on a 3ds (you can see how to add saves in the gen 1&2 physical carts section). Seeing as even if you added pksm to citra, you’d still need a 3ds with cfw to open your pksm storage backup. Pkhex can do most things pksm can, if you are just looking to edit your save file in some way.
Are you for sure it's legit? The cartridge is transparent if you hold it up to a light? Pksm should auto detect any legit copy of a game. Im pretty sure it's compatible with most langague carts. You can try a few things regardless. You can open checkpoint, make a save bu, and check if it appears under the all games list menu. Your cart might also show up there also. If not, I'd recommend dumping your save with godmode9 to get your titleid, and then just add your game manually using extra saves.
Can you still bring them to HOME? Or you need Bank still as a station. Cou can transfer Fire Red gba digital to PKSM and then to a Soulsilver game card version. And put those 2 then in storage and then in Black 2 and then to Ultra Moon in 1 go as long it is from storage as a station between games ??
You still need bank, but you can download it from the hackshop if you have cfw. You can use pksm to move mons from emulators/vc installs onto physical carts and then send them up properly. You can put them in a Gen 6 or 7 game to skip poke transporter and make it a bit more painless.

What language is your game? If it's us/pal/jpn, then it should for sure work. I'm pretty sure all languages are supported, but I haven't checked honestly. Is it a legit copy? That's the only thing I can think of other than a language issue/conflict. I'm not an expert with PKSM though, I'd recommend posting an issue on their github, or hopping on their discord. Anyone have an idea on how to get around this specific problem: I enter in the tile ID of my pokemon fire red to pksm, I then add a bunch of rare candies to my bag, I then save the file in pksm then click the load button to load the game. When I load the game after the Pokemon fire red start menu it says the last save file is corrupted and loads a previous save file. I would love to use pksm on virtual console games but I keep running into this problem.
This sounds like an issue that you might want to bring up on github. They most likely have fixed the issue, but better safe than sorry. They are slow about putting out updates.
Nope, still gotta have a gen 6/7 game and bank. You have to send it through bank to home, pksm doesn't and will never connect to pokemon home, according to the devs. There is cfw on switch and pksm, so you can use pksm to get certain mons into switch games, but it's limited right now. edit. I should add, if you get cfw, you can download bank and poke transporter on the hackshop still.

Life happens, you might not have that specific cart "forever", but you can have the save "forever".
do you have fire red as rom, because my save files are not displayed in pksm
Just a heads up you can get your title id for your gba injects by going into FBI then titles. Just select the game you need the ID for and then take a picture of the id with your phone.
I had no clue about this! You are a legend! I'm sure quite a few people will find this useful. Thanks for sharing :)
This is what i've been searching for
Another question.
If you mean using roms on the r4, I'm not super sure unfortunately:/
No problem at all!
This will always be a great backup choice if timing doesn't work out and you can't get all the games progressed far enough:)

So, would this work with the Pokémon games I have as roms through Twighlight on my homebrewed 2DS? or is it only for physical and digitally copies directly on the system and not through roms and what not?
you can do it you just have to select the file path for your roms save file

Here is the real problem. There are a few pokemon that cannot enter any switch game yet. So you cannot send them to sword/shield or scarlet/violet or legends or bdsp. So you can't send them with pksm and therefore cannot send them to pokemon Home. That means that for these pokemon, it is impossible to transfer them and they are lost until there is a compatible game. Currently I wanted to transfer all furfrou forms. This is not possible because you can't have them in any switch game.
That´s great! Will we be able to transfer them to Switch games even after the Pokemon Bank shutdown?
If you make any illegal changes make sure to do them after they’ve been transferred to the game you want just to be safe

Yep you got it! Except I'm pretty sure you can send the mons to any gen 6 or 7 game as they are all compatible with bank.
I can’t get my game saves to load in PKSM. I’m using a modded 3ds
What if i transfer the pokemon officially to the pokemon bank that i transfer from Gen 3 to Gen 7 using this method, is it possible and legal?
It is indeed possible, as long as the mon isn't obviously hacked, it should transfer no problem. I haven't transferred mons to home in a long while, but you should be fine.
Does this apply changes to pokemon such as ability when moving one gen to the next like using poke transporter?
If I mod my current 3ds I’m going to lose all my current software right?
According to the 3ds hacks guide site, you won't have any data loss! It's closing on 8 years since the last time I had to hack a 3ds, so I don't personally remember.
You don't!
Just follow the tutorial and keep a backup on your PC just in case
Considering that generation 2 has no pid but pokebank creates it, does pksm recreate it randomly like pkhex does?
bit of a stupid question but still wanted to ask if it was at all possible to transfer pokemon from pokemon black to pokemon home through this method and without the use of pokemon bank. i just got into shiny hunting and at the worst possible time with pokemon bank about to close in april 2024 and it would bring me a bit of relief knowing i still have different ways to get them across. i wanted to shiny hunt mewtwo on fire red and than send it over. again im sorry if youve covered this before in a different video but thank you for this video in the first place.
from my understanding there is a way, however it involves cloning your mons, cfw on both a 3ds and a switch, and a pc.
I haven't looked too much into it, I plan on doing so when i acquire a switch with cfw.
bank wont be closing in april, just everything else is shutting down online wise on 3ds. You can still download transporter and bank if you have a cfw 3ds/2ds from the hshop.
Hope this helps!
hey bro awsome vid helped alot iw as wondering is there a why i can get title id for nds games

Probably, but I don't have a switch with CFW, which would be required for anything, so I never bothered looking. Sorry I can't help more.
are you able to place the pkemon from PKSM to home so they can put on switch games?

Yes, and no haha. You shouldn't have to buy a home subscription if you don't need the extra room.
Also you will still need pokebank as well. You can download it from the hshop if you have custom firmware installed.
I Need help i have a Save file from Pokémon Emerald but it Doesnt Show up
Did you try the extra saves method?
The only feature its lacks is a way to HOME,
Mine Pokemon bank dont work anymore, or someone here has ideas how to solve that ?
Are they able to move to home?

@@TheRayerrralso wondering about this
I had an issue opening my backup files; a message appeared stating: "Backup couldn't be opened!" So far, so good.
Which can be done with checkpoint
The only way I have ever made a pokemon disappear is doing this.
Nice one m8❤
Thanks pal :D
I'd say it's worth a shot!
i hope the creators of this make a poke transporter so i can transport to switch
They do have one for switch! It just only works with lets go and SwSh I believe. They said they want to put more focus into it now that they have covered all the gens pre switch.
@@SleepyTaylor oh! its fine! i have swsh so i think i can transport some of my mons there. just not my ash greninja and my piplup.
Do you still need pokebank to transfer them to pokemon home?
You do, technically. There may be a way to skip home entirely, but I don't have a cfw switch to confirm:(
Does this mean you can transfer Pokémon from ds to home or another switch game like how Pokémon go and let’s go ?
Not with this exact method. You'd also need a switch with cfw. I don't own one, so I haven't looked into it much
I noticed that you were active in the comments and i was hoping to get some help.
@@SleepyTaylor ty very much, everything worked out and was able to transfer the pokemon with no problem.
@@spadesoface3528 no problem! good to hear that it all worked out for you!
Any advice on how i can use the save files from my pokemon games on my R4 card to show up on PKSM?
I'm honestly not sure about r4 carts as I don't know how they show up in checkpoint, nor am I sure if you could use the save file methods.
I've never modded a 3DS. What Pokemon Games can you emulate on this? And can you get the events for these games?
any game from game boy allllllll the way to 3ds!
PKSM is a pretty handy tool!
will this work with Roms? or will it count as hacked when transferring it to Home?
Roms are good to go. Rom hacks, on the other hand, are not recognized by pksm. At least, I think haha.
What about Ds games to Pokemon Bank? How would this be possible and can it be done on a single 3DS?
Yep, it's just the normal process. Put ds mon in pksm, take mon from pksm into a gen 6/7 game, then do the normal bank to home transfer.
How did you make pokemon games appear in the vc section? I downloaded emerald and platinum with twilight menu, but they do not show up there
The games that appear in the video were all installed directly to the console.
I need to send a female hidden ability form Gen 6 to Gen 5 cuz I have no way to obtain one in BW2 & have a ton I breaded in Y & OR
Non of them have hacks & I never used AR on my BW2 Carts, just bought them this year & with that brief excerpt I have a few questions
Will this method work & if so will it register as a clone, for a bit of context my original file was on my a hard copy of Y & OR but I have copied those files onto the digital version of the game with JKSM not NDS Forwarder so I have 2 copies of both my files but I really only ever use the cart & back up my digital whenever I get a lot of progress & save
I have a backup of my save file too however but if I restore that save onto my cart will it register as a cloned file or cloned Pokes, just asking cuz I’ve been worried about doing so cuz my homebrew 3DS is a different one then my NNID 3DS & if I ever wanna send mons to Bank & home I have to use my Cart & don’t want it to become invalid
Lastly if I send the female Hidden Ability Eevee to Gen 5 & use it to breed more HA Eevee’s can I migrate them to Gen 6 using the official PokeTransfer method as I have all the subscription EShop Purchases for PokeBank on my NNID 3DS
If anyone can clarify or enlighten me on any of these processes I’d gravely appreciate it as I’m not trying to dupe or hack Pocket monsters just trying to not lose my files again & make tons of hidden ability Eeveelutions in/from Unova as well
Well PKSM did work for me however it keep switching my Eevee’s gender to male whether I sent a female or male Eevee & the hidden ability can only be passed down via the female in Gen5
So I ended up sending a box of em cuz I had tons of boxes full of Anticipation Eevee’s from back when I was IV grinding in Y & luckily one of them remained Female😁
Idk why it’s like that thou, maybe it has to do with Eevee’s gender ratio in BW2 compared to XY but I can finally start an Eevee farm in Unova😅
@@SleepyTaylor thanks for the insight & that does clear up all the concerns I’ve had💯
Yep you got it! You can send the mons from emerald to any game that can connect with bank and then send them up!
@@SleepyTaylor alr tyvm!
Does it work backwards? I have a lucario from BDSP in my pokemon home, hoping to put it onto my 3DS
@SleepyTaylor Thanks! Currently region swapping so that bank will work.. ugh. Not looking forward to doing this for the other legendaries lol.
How did you do to make Pokemon emerald appear on pksm. I have that one and fire red an I don’t see them on VC only crystal and yellow
Look at the section about title ids, you have to manually add them. It's one of the last sections in the video.
How ever pksm already detects most of the save files whether the game was injected or on twilight menu. Or even using the Nds forwarder for Nds games.
Alright, Thanks for the info 👍@@rayojordan2838
I use my 3ds for emulation. Would this work for emulated ds games?
Yep it sure will, as long as it's not a fan game. Some may work but I doubt it.
I have followed it correctly but my Pokémon and items are not showing up in game what do I do?
Is it a Gen 2 game? If not, what game and language is the cart, if I might ask?
will this work with the remake of Pokémon Ruby and sapphire?
Yep it should!
Could you show how to like use the PKSM in citra emulator 😅 basically i dont know where to put the files
I don’t know how to do that, sorry:(
Personally I would just use the save from my emulated game and open it in pksm on a 3ds (you can see how to add saves in the gen 1&2 physical carts section).
Seeing as even if you added pksm to citra, you’d still need a 3ds with cfw to open your pksm storage backup.
Pkhex can do most things pksm can, if you are just looking to edit your save file in some way.
So I can also send it from this to Pokemon Home?
For some reason, my legit copy of Soul Silver isn't showing up on PKSM, just trying to transfer my mons to my switch.
@@SleepyTaylor For some reason it only just started working but yeah definitely legit.
That is odd, well I'm glad it started working for you!
@@SleepyTaylor mine bank from H shop dont connect internet and server.
Do you know how to get it to work ? Or it just need a Nitendo ID same as an other 3ds who already have bank working ?
So same ID on both to get connected ?
Any tips of ideas ?
@@thedarkblackspeedy3140 unfortunately i'm not super savvy with that. I'd recommend asking on the 3dshacks subreddit, someone will probably be able to help you out there.
Sorry for just getting back to you, youtube doesn't like to notify me about when people reply to me.
Very interesting
I'm trying this with My soul silver cartridge but it's not showing up
What language is your game?
If it's us/pal/jpn, then it should for sure work. I'm pretty sure all languages are supported, but I haven't checked honestly.
Is it a legit copy? That's the only thing I can think of other than a language issue/conflict. I'm not an expert with PKSM though, I'd recommend posting an issue on their github, or hopping on their discord.
Have you tried making a save bu with checkpoint and opening that?
How do I transfer to switch
does anyone know if this is possible for gen 4 or 5 games that are downloaded on the 3ds?
Yep! Just set the save file path using extra saves in pksm. I show how in the video
They register on the pokedex?, i was searching and older method dont unlock the pokemon in the pokedex, I only want to transfer from black to x and up, all 3ds with physical cartridges and i want my gamefreak diploma 🥺
I've never actually payed attention to if they are added to the dex. If you have 2 3ds/2ds then you can trade the mon and trade it back. I'll check if that is still a thing
@@SleepyTaylor I'm thinking in buying a 3ds but with the solely purpose of completing the Pokedex and getting my Game Freak Diploma, but if this tool dont register the pokemon on the pokedex maybe I need to keep searching
I have a problem, i find the game and save i want to move pokemon from but i keep getting this message: "Wrong size for this game! Error:0x0100000. And when i find the save file it says: Its not a valid save file..
Is it a fan game/rom hack? Those aren't supported. If it isn't, I'd recommend posting an issue on github, or join their discord
Anyone have an idea on how to get around this specific problem:
I enter in the tile ID of my pokemon fire red to pksm, I then add a bunch of rare candies to my bag, I then save the file in pksm then click the load button to load the game.
Can it be done with games like Pokemon White in Twilight Menu?
yep, check the comments, I need to just save the response but I forgot lol.
Hello, can i use pksm with original game ? Not cracked one ? Thx
Yep! All the games I used were official copies, other than the section showing off installed roms.
I’m assuming this is the easiest way to get shiny hoO arceus to get into home lmao
Lmao you got it! Mine has been chilling in PLA for a while now haha.
@@SleepyTaylor mines in big chilling lmao
Can I also just put a copy of the pokémon into the pksm storage? And then move them to home?
Nope, still gotta have a gen 6/7 game and bank. You have to send it through bank to home, pksm doesn't and will never connect to pokemon home, according to the devs.
There is cfw on switch and pksm, so you can use pksm to get certain mons into switch games, but it's limited right now.
edit. I should add, if you get cfw, you can download bank and poke transporter on the hackshop still.
