Here is my PKSM-assisted method of doing manaphy right now. I have a platinum cart with 107 eggs in it, each of their ESVs are copied down onto a file. I play diamond until the starter, fight the starly and then walk out of the lakefront. Then i save and switch into PKSM, and check the TSV by way of the starter. Check if that saves TSV matches any of the 107 ESVs, if not then restart. I am also amassing more eggs in the background at the moment
I thought about doing this, except quicker, but it felt too cheap. Might as well just RNG manip your TSV if you are just going to skip 80 percent of the hunt, you know what I mean? I'm pretty sure you can check your TSV as soon as you make a save file, you don't need a pokemon. So at that point, you are just resetting IDs.
You only need PKSM not a PC. You just gen a mon and it will show you your TSV. So again, at that point, you might as well just RNG manip the hunt if you are cutting out 80 percent of the hunt.
Started my hunt for this four days ago now. I’m averaging 32 hatches per hour. I’m doing a different method than yours, though. I hatch two sets of four eggs in two games at the same time and trade them between each other. At the same time, I’m playing two other games up to the trade point. With that said, you explained your method well and I liked and borrowed the idea of marking your eggs. Good work on the video.

Really appreciate this video. I’m currently at 742 for Manaphy, unfortunately only have 2 systems at the moment. I played through 4 separate copies of Ranger initially to get the eggs, but ended up having one egg hatch after 1 step after trading them between games, so currently only have 3 now. I’m sticking with 3 for now and will probably look into CFW soon to get back to 4 eggs. Not able to add more systems at the moment, but will have to look into it I think. Congrats by the way!
No problem at all! Yeah I was really lucky that I had CFW for playing randomizers on 3ds games. I wanted to hunt manaohy but backed up my eggs just to be safe, and then the same thing that happened to you, happened to me. I'm sorry that happened to you:( If you do end up getting CFW, I can send you my 9 extra eggs if you want? I can send you the save file and you can open it up on one of your gmes to get the eggs off of it, if you want them. Completely understandable, I stuck with 2 systems for almost the first full 11k on this hunt. I hope you get lucky and Manaphy shines for you quick! If you are on the hunt for cheaper systems I recommend checking craigslist and your local facebook swapshops. You can find normal ds' for as low as 20 bucks sometimes! You only need one 3ds for the hunt, for cfw, all the others can be og ds.
@@SleepyTaylor it’s mainly because I’m awful at multitasking so I prefer just going back and forth with the two systems to be fair haha. I’d be way more likely to make mistakes with more than 2 systems too imo. I’m figuring once I’ve installed the CFW, I will have to run through Ranger again, but I can just sell the other copies, keep 1, and save the game data once I complete it before doing the Manaphy DLC, and get that fourth egg again. Then if this happens again I can simply redo the Manaphy DLC via Checkpoint and get another egg. I really appreciate you offering to do that also, but I think I’ll stick with what I have for now :). If I crack and get near your numbers that could change though haha!
@@JH_x3 Completely understandable! dual hunting it is pretty chill. make a save backup of one, or both for ease of access, of your games while they have all the eggs, that way you can just restore the eggs you have. No need to keep getting new ones and changing the PID of the eggs each time. That could potentially make the hunt take longer if you are constantly getting new PIDs to compare to new saves TIDs. Then again it's always a 1 in 8192 chance, I'd just be paranoid of always changing up the eggs like that. Maybe that's just because the hunt took me so long lol Sorry if that sounded confusing, I'm not the best at explaining on the spot without rambling lmao. Yes and no. The AR's(from what I just looked at) go for 25-80 usd, which is way more than it costs to get CFW. Plus checkpoint takes a few seconds to restore a save, they might be about the same speed.
@SleepyTaylor I guess I didn't realize the pricing, I got my action replay back in 2014 (also have some from 2007 and 2009) and only spent $20, thought they'd go down instead of up. I still don't know the process on getting custom firmware though, so no idea about that
I played till I got to see the egg on ranger net now I have a backup using checkpoint and I'm planing to load the backup to the cartridge after transferring the egg to platinum (this process around 1k or 2k times) then storage them in pksm then load them up on the actual game where is not shiny lock so I don't have to do 1k/2k trades between games. The question is Would it work? What you all think about this method? Edit: Loading ranger and platinum> transferring> receiving> loading backup savefile on ranger takes about 1:50 secs The deliveryman can hold up to 8 eggs. The whole process takes about 15 minutes or so. During the process the platinum game can freeze up and you have to reset or it simply gets into the waiting for receiving and never getting anything
It will kind of work. When you put eggs in pksm, it can mess up the egg data. Not in any substantial way, but it does make the eggs look like they were hacked in. If you don't care about that, then yeah, it should work. It's an interesting method, but when you are relying on CFW for more than just save backups, it can be a gray area.
Hey great video guide! Im about to start my hunt tomorrow and have one question, you said in the video to run the eggs down and then put them in the pc before they hatch. I understand that but say for example you've saved in front of the pc and you deposit the egg which is 3 steps from hatching, would they not hatch before even reaching the terminal to start the hunt? Just looking for any clarification before i start if at all possible
No problem and good luck! As long as you save in front of the pc, you can just deposit the eggs, run the 3 steps that would've originally hatched the egg. Then you'll have 255 more steps before an egg will try to hatch. So just grab the eggs from the pc and make your way to the trade station. Don't forget, I highly recommended cfw to backup your eggs
Clarification you do NOT need an R4 card for custom firmware on a 3DS so unless you want to use custom firmware on a NDS do NOT buy an R4 card it's a waste for the 3DS
As I said in the video, r4 was the method I used years ago. 3ds hacks will have the most up to date method to install cfw. I only used the r4 example so people have an idea of how much it could potentially cost them to install cfw. Edit, I thought you commented this on my transfer guide, sorry haha. I'm honestly not sure if I mentioned 3ds hacks for install guides in this video, It was a while back lmao.
I found out my Pokemon Ranger cartridge (most likely) still has a manaphy egg. would you even recomend the hunt with a single egg? while I am tempted I dont think I have it in me to spend a calculated possible 4100 hours for this hunt. I am (slowly) working on a full shiny dex and while Manaphy in most cases isn't a qualification for a complete shiny dex it is still tempting knowing I have a chance at it.
I would personally recommend using the method to get more than one egg from a game that I show off, instead of just using the one. It's totally a hunt I'd recommend, but as a side hunt haha. I wouldn't dedicate every time you hunt to manaphy, it will burn you out if you get unlucky like i did lol. TBF I was using way less efficient methods to get mine, up until like the last few thousand. That's when I got everything I needed for a "5 system" hunt.
Hello thanks so much for the guide and huge congrats on you getting the shiny!!! :) Since the egg only saves how many remaining cycles it takes to hatch it, let's say I have 2 cycles remaining in my Manaphy egg, will there still be 1/255 chance of advancing that egg cycle to its last cycle when trading between different saves, i.e. the fresh save that I used to hatch my eggs unfortunately took 1 step (to be able to talk to the NPC to go into the union room) to advance the egg cycle? Thanks so much! So you are right when you say only remaining egg cycles are tracked when trading an egg. However, it isn't necessarily a "chance" to roll your eggs over to their last cycle. You can get pretty good at predicting how far in the cycle you are before you trade. Especially if you try to follow similar movement patterns each time. You can optimize it more by not moving in grass when catching mons(except this will SIGNIFICANTLY increase the time it takes to catch mons). Even without super optimization, you'll figure out your average step count the more you do. In my case, I would normally average 5 and a half back and forths in the PC to hatch my first egg. Something close to that amount. it's been almost a year now haha. From experience of doing it, you can get a feel if you are above or behind your average. So you can predict if you need to run a few extra steps to ensure you don't hit the rollover. It will still happen sometimes if you aren't doing the slower encounter method of standing still and just turning. Sorry if that didn't make sense. I'm bad about rambling, and it takes me way too long to be concise haha.

I am also currently doing this hunt and have a question: So far, I did the following during the hunt: - I didn't know a copy of D/P/Pt/HG/SS can receive multiple copies of the manaphy egg... so for my first 3 eggs, I got each of them with a different save file. - I marked 4 of my eggs to make sure I mirror traded all my eggs. The shiny rate will always be the same. If you are concerned about dupes, and don't want to check their data in pksm, you can do it semi naturally. Check the eggs nature and stats. If they are the exact same, you might have dupes. I'd recommend checking in pksm then. If their shiny values aren't the same, they for sure aren't dupes. Edit: I appreciate the thanks:) I never thought it would take so long, but I'm not a quitter haha. You only fail a hunt if you give up!
Call me crazy, but if you're already using CFW to get unlimited eggs, why not fill all your boxes with them in an egg holding game (like game 5) and just constantly trade them with a single game? Game 1 would be intermittently reset once all eggs have been checked, and game 2 would just hold onto all the eggs. You'd have basically 0 time playing through the game compared to time spent trading and hatching, and that still seems to be the main hurdle of this hunt. I'm against using CFW personally, but I am fine with using arbitrary execution to accomplish the same thing (which I recently did). Right now I'm trying to get into a groove and find out how fast this can actually be, as I had to troubleshoot ways to consistently avoid trading when my egg cycle progress is 254/255 on either game (again, because of my no CFW clause). If you're curious I'll post how fast I can get through a full cycle of the 36 eggs I got from arbitrary execution, because only requiring two systems/games and a single capture card/camera to record checks could be significantly easier for most people.
I only got 10 eggs not unlimited, but yes you can do what you are talking about. Fill up a games boxes with eggs and then hatch eggs on other games. You can still multi hunt and speed it up even more however, it just would be a bit of a pain to track your eggs. You can work around the one step remaining problem by just boxing all the eggs and taking a few steps. You don't technically need cfw for anything, but I don't recommend the hunt unless you can backup your eggs. Backups is all you really need it for.
@@SleepyTaylor I get that - I just meant you had access to unlimited eggs; nothing was stopping you from using checkpoint more than 10 times, right? And yeah, the markings only have 64 unique combinations (2^6), so using more eggs than that could get weird. Although I suppose you could just have 64 eggs for each system and use boxes to keep track of what ought to go where... No reason to say every* new save must check every single egg. It'd be gratuitous beyond a certain point, and 64 checks is plenty to justify each new save. Personally though, it's probably not worth the cost of new systems and/or a very inflexible hunting station/process. One game to store and one game to check seems plenty fast. The 254/255 problem isn't that you can't use the PC - it's that after starting a new save and catching everything it's possible your first trade takes place when you're at 254/255 (you don't have a step counter at this point in-game to show egg cycle progress). You wouldn't realize this before locking yourself into permanently removing an egg cycle/hatching an egg. If you're careful with pathing each reset in DP, the shortest pathing (that still lets you spin around in a corner instead of risking additional steps) leaves you at 119/255 steps when you first trade. You could then trade 135* times without issue, which is plenty. If you don't want to be careful with pathing and/or avoid spinning around in grass to reduce step variability, then for your first trade make sure you send over a trash egg at 0 egg cycles. If you got unlucky and unknowingly traded at 254/255, the only thing you'd need to lose is this trash egg (I've used a Magikarp egg as they're easy to reduce to 0 egg cycles should this failsafe need replacing). Then at this point you'd know you'll be safe for the next 254 trades 😅 Sorry for the essay, just felt that was worth clarifying.
You are all good homie, i ramble a lot too haha. That's what I was getting at with the 254 issue. Even in a new game, you can still do the same thing. As you said if you are optimal about steps you generally know about where you are in the cycle. I wasn't even optimal with it and still almost always knew about how many steps I needed before hatching the first egg. The only reason I ever messed it up was because I preemptively tried to run the cycle down as low as possible. That's also where the egg backups come in handy. Then you never have to worry about it being an issue.
It's just another reason why I don't advocate official methods. They are designed for profit only. I don't care if the pokemon company benefits, if they wanted money they should've made it offline compatible.
@Ragna25 I tested this for myself, NO it does not work. Transferring through PKSM storage will keep the TSV* of the old save instead of inheriting it like through trades. Meaning it will be the exact same
I recently got two Manaphy eggs today from Shadows of Almia and Guardian Signs. I already hatched one but the other one is gonna be the shiny. I heard it’s really time-consuming and lengthy, but I’m curious to obtain a Shiny Manaphy.
I'd say go for it! I just don't recommend making it your MAIN hunt you go to every day, it can burn you out pretty bad. Doing just one egg will be insanely tough though. You'll be averaging about 15-20 minutes for a single hatch. I'd recommend grabbing a few more eggs, but I respect it if you want to get that specific egg shiny!
@@SleepyTaylor It does get tiring sometimes, but I feel very determined to try it for myself. But one problem I did notice every trade I make, its steps required to hatch was one step less every time. I dont know if there is a way to preserve the egg, but my best bet is to rely on luck.
@@j4kltheoneandonly03 every game has their own individual step counter, it doesn't follow the egg, so you can technically keep the egg on it's last cycle forever. However it's very likely at some point you will make a mistake and the egg will be impossible to prevent from hatching. When that happens you better have made a save BU with CFW, or else you are out of luck. If you didn't make a bu, but still have CFW there are some work arounds, but it is best to just make a save bu. If you make sure to always take the same step path, you can somewhat predict how many steps it'll take to hatch the egg on a game before you even trade the egg. Since there is some variance with catching mons, you'll most likely never be 100% accurate. However that comes with time and paying attention to your movements. I know with my method and having to catch 5 mons, I would almost always have to do about 5 and a half back and forths in the PC before the first egg hatched.
@@SleepyTaylor I’m hatching it through a Diamond safe file and trading it back to platinum to hold onto it. When I counted the steps it needed to hatched, It was a total of 1274 steps. A few trades later, it’s total became 1264. Dividing that by every 2 steps when making a trade to the Union room, I see that I have 632 tries before it completely hatches. Despite not owning a CFW, I believe it can difficult, but thanks for the extra heads up! ^^
@@j4kltheoneandonly03 since you are using one game to hold the egg, make sure to occasionally reset that games egg step count at some point! Since that game isn’t being reset, the egg steps will hit 255 in that game eventually and will count down your egg a cycle. Since you are using platinum, I’m assuming it’s been played some, you can use the poketch to track how many steps you’ve taken.
Nice! I've never personally tried rng manip. I'm not anti manip or anything, especially when people say the shiny was rng maniped. I just prefer doing it the old fashioned way haha.
Understandable, there are just so many obscure or difficult to hunt (time intensive) mons that I find rng to be a better use of time. Trying Pokémon coliseum right now.
I consider rng manip like counting cards, using your brain outside of the game to get a better outcome more frequently. And since there isn't anyone that winning more shortchangs in Pokémon it seems fine to me.
Struggling to understand why we have 10 eggs hatching on each system if they were all generated in the same game. Wouldnt they all be identical eggs? Also how were all of them generated in one save of ranger?
I explained, poorly ill admit, that eggs are always generated with different ids(unless you got insanely lucky and got a double shiny) and they all have different stats. As for why 10, you can do as many or as few as you want. However using 10 eggs just lines up well with my hatching process. I double-checked the eggs to confirm they weren't dupes, and I even got a shiny manaphy using 10 eggs all genned from one ranger and sent to the same game. You can check out the video if you want. Only the one was shiny. You use save backups with the app checkpoint. You make a backup of ranger before you send your egg, send the egg, then restore your save. Then you just repeat steps 2 and 3 until you have the desired amount of eggs. If your copy doesn't have an egg anymore, you can use savetool(another cfw app) to fully wipe the cartridge of all save data and flags. Then the cart is the exact same as a factory fresh copy of ranger, egg waiting to be sent. Hope that clears up your questions!

You can send them all to the same save. You shouldn’t get a dupe mon or even a dupe id, unless you are just insanely lucky/unlucky? You can double check the eggs nature and stats just to make sure they aren’t dupes.

If you try to trade with one mon and 5 eggs, it will prevent you from trading. You can trade away your 2nd mon(if you have 2 mons with you) and get a 5th egg, but you can't start the trade with just one mon. It's weird lol.
Just make a save backup of whatever game you have your eggs on using checkpoint(or whatever save bu method you prefer) haha. Then they will be exactly as you left them. If you ran all your eggs down to the last egg cycle, that is the best time to do it. Then you don't have to keep running your egg cycles down.
Do you mean getting multiple eggs from ranger or multiple eggs sent to the same save file? Both answers are yes, but the second might take a little extra effort, it's been a few years since I collected my eggs. You should be able to send all the eggs to the same save file. if you can't, you can by trading the egg after receiving it and then restoring a save backup. For pokemon Ranger, you only need one copy of it, regardless if it has the egg. You just use save bus to keep restoring the egg and transferring it over to d/p again.
@@knowhatnot347 5:00ish minutes in I go over how to do that. If your ranger already sent an egg, you will need to delete the save using the CFW app called Save Tool. Play through the game and backup your save using checkpoint. Send your egg over, restore your save, rinse and repeat. If you have any other questions just let me know!

Try the hunt. The second you screw up and lose one or all of your eggs, you'll immediately regret not having custom firmware. EVERYONE I know who has hunted manaphy has had CFW installed with a bu of their eggs. Since CFW is basically essential, I also show an easier way to collect manaphy eggs. It isn't required if you want to be a purest and waste time hunting down multiple ranger carts. You do you boo. My hunt took me 1,660 hours, and I spent almost two and a half years on it. Using CFW doesn't mean the hunt will be any easier. It's about forward thinking and being cautious. Edit: Also, I didn't give you a rebuttal because I explained why CFW is essential for the hunt in the video. Maybe watch the video before complaining, lol.

I respect the theory time and effort behind it. and because this hunt is so insane I dont want to do it. and you shouldnt assume I didnt watch the video I didnt watch the whole thing but I did watch the process. the fact of the mather is though its not legit if you need custom firmware legal in an competetive aspect sure but still not legal. and my point was if you wanna get 1 persein an non legal way you might as well hack it in and save yourself a lot of time and effort because the end result is the same
This is also why I didn't bother. It's a difference in opinion. That's it. It seems, in your opinion, just about every shiny manaphy that has been found is "hacked." Other than rng manipulation. However, if you are THIS against a simple save backup of the eggs, you probably hate rng manip too. This isn't going to go anywhere, I can't change your opinion. I'm pretty sure you can check your TSV as soon as you make a save file, you don't need a pokemon. So at that point, you are just resetting IDs.
@@SleepyTaylor this is for people like me without access to computers because PKSM doesn't have a TSV checking method until the starter.
You only need PKSM not a PC. You just gen a mon and it will show you your TSV. So again, at that point, you might as well just RNG manip the hunt if you are cutting out 80 percent of the hunt.

Started my hunt for this four days ago now. I’m averaging 32 hatches per hour. I’m doing a different method than yours, though. I hatch two sets of four eggs in two games at the same time and trade them between each other. At the same time, I’m playing two other games up to the trade point. With that said, you explained your method well and I liked and borrowed the idea of marking your eggs. Good work on the video.

Really appreciate this video. I’m currently at 742 for Manaphy, unfortunately only have 2 systems at the moment. I played through 4 separate copies of Ranger initially to get the eggs, but ended up having one egg hatch after 1 step after trading them between games, so currently only have 3 now. I’m sticking with 3 for now and will probably look into CFW soon to get back to 4 eggs. Not able to add more systems at the moment, but will have to look into it I think. Congrats by the way!

If you are on the hunt for cheaper systems I recommend checking craigslist and your local facebook swapshops.
You can find normal ds' for as low as 20 bucks sometimes! You only need one 3ds for the hunt, for cfw, all the others can be og ds.
@@SleepyTaylor it’s mainly because I’m awful at multitasking so I prefer just going back and forth with the two systems to be fair haha. I’d be way more likely to make mistakes with more than 2 systems too imo.
I’m figuring once I’ve installed the CFW, I will have to run through Ranger again, but I can just sell the other copies, keep 1, and save the game data once I complete it before doing the Manaphy DLC, and get that fourth egg again. Then if this happens again I can simply redo the Manaphy DLC via Checkpoint and get another egg.
I really appreciate you offering to do that also, but I think I’ll stick with what I have for now :). If I crack and get near your numbers that could change though haha!

make a save backup of one, or both for ease of access, of your games while they have all the eggs, that way you can just restore the eggs you have. No need to keep getting new ones and changing the PID of the eggs each time. That could potentially make the hunt take longer if you are constantly getting new PIDs to compare to new saves TIDs.
Then again it's always a 1 in 8192 chance, I'd just be paranoid of always changing up the eggs like that. Maybe that's just because the hunt took me so long lol

There's actually an action replay code for pokemon ranger US and for EU that will reset the event flag. Easier and cheaper than the custom firmware.
Yes and no. The AR's(from what I just looked at) go for 25-80 usd, which is way more than it costs to get CFW. Plus checkpoint takes a few seconds to restore a save, they might be about the same speed.

I played till I got to see the egg on ranger net now I have a backup using checkpoint and I'm planing to load the backup to the cartridge after transferring the egg to platinum (this process around 1k or 2k times) then storage them in pksm then load them up on the actual game where is not shiny lock so I don't have to do 1k/2k trades between games. The question is Would it work? What you all think about this method?

Loading ranger and platinum> transferring> receiving> loading backup savefile on ranger takes about 1:50 secs
The deliveryman can hold up to 8 eggs. The whole process takes about 15 minutes or so. During the process the platinum game can freeze up and you have to reset or it simply gets into the waiting for receiving and never getting anything
It will kind of work. When you put eggs in pksm, it can mess up the egg data. Not in any substantial way, but it does make the eggs look like they were hacked in.
If you don't care about that, then yeah, it should work.
It's an interesting method, but when you are relying on CFW for more than just save backups, it can be a gray area.
Hey great video guide! Im about to start my hunt tomorrow and have one question, you said in the video to run the eggs down and then put them in the pc before they hatch. I understand that but say for example you've saved in front of the pc and you deposit the egg which is 3 steps from hatching, would they not hatch before even reaching the terminal to start the hunt? Just looking for any clarification before i start if at all possible

As long as you save in front of the pc, you can just deposit the eggs, run the 3 steps that would've originally hatched the egg. Then you'll have 255 more steps before an egg will try to hatch. So just grab the eggs from the pc and make your way to the trade station.
Don't forget, I highly recommended cfw to backup your eggs
How did you get check point to work on ranger?
Clarification you do NOT need an R4 card for custom firmware on a 3DS so unless you want to use custom firmware on a NDS do NOT buy an R4 card it's a waste for the 3DS
As I said in the video, r4 was the method I used years ago. 3ds hacks will have the most up to date method to install cfw.
I only used the r4 example so people have an idea of how much it could potentially cost them to install cfw.

I found out my Pokemon Ranger cartridge (most likely) still has a manaphy egg. would you even recomend the hunt with a single egg? while I am tempted I dont think I have it in me to spend a calculated possible 4100 hours for this hunt. I am (slowly) working on a full shiny dex and while Manaphy in most cases isn't a qualification for a complete shiny dex it is still tempting knowing I have a chance at it.
I would personally recommend using the method to get more than one egg from a game that I show off, instead of just using the one. It's totally a hunt I'd recommend, but as a side hunt haha. I wouldn't dedicate every time you hunt to manaphy, it will burn you out if you get unlucky like i did lol.
TBF I was using way less efficient methods to get mine, up until like the last few thousand. That's when I got everything I needed for a "5 system" hunt.

Since the egg only saves how many remaining cycles it takes to hatch it, let's say I have 2 cycles remaining in my Manaphy egg, will there still be 1/255 chance of advancing that egg cycle to its last cycle when trading between different saves, i.e. the fresh save that I used to hatch my eggs unfortunately took 1 step (to be able to talk to the NPC to go into the union room) to advance the egg cycle?

So you are right when you say only remaining egg cycles are tracked when trading an egg. However, it isn't necessarily a "chance" to roll your eggs over to their last cycle. You can get pretty good at predicting how far in the cycle you are before you trade. Especially if you try to follow similar movement patterns each time. You can optimize it more by not moving in grass when catching mons(except this will SIGNIFICANTLY increase the time it takes to catch mons). Even without super optimization, you'll figure out your average step count the more you do.
In my case, I would normally average 5 and a half back and forths in the PC to hatch my first egg. Something close to that amount. it's been almost a year now haha.
From experience of doing it, you can get a feel if you are above or behind your average. So you can predict if you need to run a few extra steps to ensure you don't hit the rollover. It will still happen sometimes if you aren't doing the slower encounter method of standing still and just turning.

So far, I did the following during the hunt:
- I didn't know a copy of D/P/Pt/HG/SS can receive multiple copies of the manaphy egg... so for my first 3 eggs, I got each of them with a different save file.
- I marked 4 of my eggs to make sure I mirror traded all my eggs.
Both of the above shouldn't affect the shiny rate of Manaphy right?

The shiny rate will always be the same.
If you are concerned about dupes, and don't want to check their data in pksm, you can do it semi naturally.
Check the eggs nature and stats. If they are the exact same, you might have dupes. I'd recommend checking in pksm then.
If their shiny values aren't the same, they for sure aren't dupes.

Call me crazy, but if you're already using CFW to get unlimited eggs, why not fill all your boxes with them in an egg holding game (like game 5) and just constantly trade them with a single game? Game 1 would be intermittently reset once all eggs have been checked, and game 2 would just hold onto all the eggs. You'd have basically 0 time playing through the game compared to time spent trading and hatching, and that still seems to be the main hurdle of this hunt.
I'm against using CFW personally, but I am fine with using arbitrary execution to accomplish the same thing (which I recently did). Right now I'm trying to get into a groove and find out how fast this can actually be, as I had to troubleshoot ways to consistently avoid trading when my egg cycle progress is 254/255 on either game (again, because of my no CFW clause).
If you're curious I'll post how fast I can get through a full cycle of the 36 eggs I got from arbitrary execution, because only requiring two systems/games and a single capture card/camera to record checks could be significantly easier for most people.
I only got 10 eggs not unlimited, but yes you can do what you are talking about. Fill up a games boxes with eggs and then hatch eggs on other games. You can still multi hunt and speed it up even more however, it just would be a bit of a pain to track your eggs.
You can work around the one step remaining problem by just boxing all the eggs and taking a few steps. You don't technically need cfw for anything, but I don't recommend the hunt unless you can backup your eggs. Backups is all you really need it for.
@@SleepyTaylor I get that - I just meant you had access to unlimited eggs; nothing was stopping you from using checkpoint more than 10 times, right? And yeah, the markings only have 64 unique combinations (2^6), so using more eggs than that could get weird. Although I suppose you could just have 64 eggs for each system and use boxes to keep track of what ought to go where... No reason to say every* new save must check every single egg. It'd be gratuitous beyond a certain point, and 64 checks is plenty to justify each new save. Personally though, it's probably not worth the cost of new systems and/or a very inflexible hunting station/process. One game to store and one game to check seems plenty fast.
The 254/255 problem isn't that you can't use the PC - it's that after starting a new save and catching everything it's possible your first trade takes place when you're at 254/255 (you don't have a step counter at this point in-game to show egg cycle progress). You wouldn't realize this before locking yourself into permanently removing an egg cycle/hatching an egg. If you're careful with pathing each reset in DP, the shortest pathing (that still lets you spin around in a corner instead of risking additional steps) leaves you at 119/255 steps when you first trade. You could then trade 135* times without issue, which is plenty. If you don't want to be careful with pathing and/or avoid spinning around in grass to reduce step variability, then for your first trade make sure you send over a trash egg at 0 egg cycles. If you got unlucky and unknowingly traded at 254/255, the only thing you'd need to lose is this trash egg (I've used a Magikarp egg as they're easy to reduce to 0 egg cycles should this failsafe need replacing). Then at this point you'd know you'll be safe for the next 254 trades 😅

That's what I was getting at with the 254 issue. Even in a new game, you can still do the same thing. As you said if you are optimal about steps you generally know about where you are in the cycle. I wasn't even optimal with it and still almost always knew about how many steps I needed before hatching the first egg. The only reason I ever messed it up was because I preemptively tried to run the cycle down as low as possible.
That's also where the egg backups come in handy. Then you never have to worry about it being an issue.

You can but it will most likely mess up the location/hatch data. If you don't care about that, then its no problem.

It's just another reason why I don't advocate official methods. They are designed for profit only. I don't care if the pokemon company benefits, if they wanted money they should've made it offline compatible.
@Ragna25 I tested this for myself, NO it does not work. Transferring through PKSM storage will keep the TSV* of the old save instead of inheriting it like through trades. Meaning it will be the exact same

I recently got two Manaphy eggs today from Shadows of Almia and Guardian Signs. I already hatched one but the other one is gonna be the shiny. I heard it’s really time-consuming and lengthy, but I’m curious to obtain a Shiny Manaphy.
I'd say go for it! I just don't recommend making it your MAIN hunt you go to every day, it can burn you out pretty bad.
Doing just one egg will be insanely tough though. You'll be averaging about 15-20 minutes for a single hatch. I'd recommend grabbing a few more eggs, but I respect it if you want to get that specific egg shiny!
@@SleepyTaylor It does get tiring sometimes, but I feel very determined to try it for myself. But one problem I did notice every trade I make, its steps required to hatch was one step less every time. I dont know if there is a way to preserve the egg, but my best bet is to rely on luck.
@@j4kltheoneandonly03 every game has their own individual step counter, it doesn't follow the egg, so you can technically keep the egg on it's last cycle forever. However it's very likely at some point you will make a mistake and the egg will be impossible to prevent from hatching.
When that happens you better have made a save BU with CFW, or else you are out of luck. If you didn't make a bu, but still have CFW there are some work arounds, but it is best to just make a save bu.
If you make sure to always take the same step path, you can somewhat predict how many steps it'll take to hatch the egg on a game before you even trade the egg. Since there is some variance with catching mons, you'll most likely never be 100% accurate.
However that comes with time and paying attention to your movements.
I know with my method and having to catch 5 mons, I would almost always have to do about 5 and a half back and forths in the PC before the first egg hatched.
@@SleepyTaylor I’m hatching it through a Diamond safe file and trading it back to platinum to hold onto it. When I counted the steps it needed to hatched, It was a total of 1274 steps. A few trades later, it’s total became 1264. Dividing that by every 2 steps when making a trade to the Union room, I see that I have 632 tries before it completely hatches.
Despite not owning a CFW, I believe it can difficult, but thanks for the extra heads up! ^^
@@j4kltheoneandonly03 since you are using one game to hold the egg, make sure to occasionally reset that games egg step count at some point!
Since that game isn’t being reset, the egg steps will hit 255 in that game eventually and will count down your egg a cycle.
Since you are using platinum, I’m assuming it’s been played some, you can use the poketch to track how many steps you’ve taken.
I have two of these, used rng manip,was so fast, took only an hour or so. Didn't use any custom firmware, just Pokefinder and Eon timer.
Nice! I've never personally tried rng manip. I'm not anti manip or anything, especially when people say the shiny was rng maniped. I just prefer doing it the old fashioned way haha.
Understandable, there are just so many obscure or difficult to hunt (time intensive) mons that I find rng to be a better use of time. Trying Pokémon coliseum right now.
I consider rng manip like counting cards, using your brain outside of the game to get a better outcome more frequently. And since there isn't anyone that winning more shortchangs in Pokémon it seems fine to me.

Struggling to understand why we have 10 eggs hatching on each system if they were all generated in the same game. Wouldnt they all be identical eggs? Also how were all of them generated in one save of ranger?
I explained, poorly ill admit, that eggs are always generated with different ids(unless you got insanely lucky and got a double shiny) and they all have different stats.
As for why 10, you can do as many or as few as you want. However using 10 eggs just lines up well with my hatching process.
I double-checked the eggs to confirm they weren't dupes, and I even got a shiny manaphy using 10 eggs all genned from one ranger and sent to the same game. You can check out the video if you want. Only the one was shiny.
You use save backups with the app checkpoint. You make a backup of ranger before you send your egg, send the egg, then restore your save. Then you just repeat steps 2 and 3 until you have the desired amount of eggs.
If your copy doesn't have an egg anymore, you can use savetool(another cfw app) to fully wipe the cartridge of all save data and flags. Then the cart is the exact same as a factory fresh copy of ranger, egg waiting to be sent.

You can just use the same save bu's, every egg generated should be different.
I used the same save to send 10 eggs, and none were clones/dupes.

You can send them all to the same save. You shouldn’t get a dupe mon or even a dupe id, unless you are just insanely lucky/unlucky?

I kinda missed why you have groups of 4 instead of 5?
If you try to trade with one mon and 5 eggs, it will prevent you from trading.
You can trade away your 2nd mon(if you have 2 mons with you) and get a 5th egg, but you can't start the trade with just one mon. It's weird lol.
How exactly do you backup eggs?
Just make a save backup of whatever game you have your eggs on using checkpoint(or whatever save bu method you prefer) haha. Then they will be exactly as you left them. If you ran all your eggs down to the last egg cycle, that is the best time to do it.
Then you don't have to keep running your egg cycles down.

Both answers are yes, but the second might take a little extra effort, it's been a few years since I collected my eggs.
You should be able to send all the eggs to the same save file. if you can't, you can by trading the egg after receiving it and then restoring a save backup.
For pokemon Ranger, you only need one copy of it, regardless if it has the egg. You just use save bus to keep restoring the egg and transferring it over to d/p again.

If your ranger already sent an egg, you will need to delete the save using the CFW app called Save Tool.
Play through the game and backup your save using checkpoint. Send your egg over, restore your save, rinse and repeat.

Try the hunt.
The second you screw up and lose one or all of your eggs, you'll immediately regret not having custom firmware.
EVERYONE I know who has hunted manaphy has had CFW installed with a bu of their eggs.
Since CFW is basically essential, I also show an easier way to collect manaphy eggs. It isn't required if you want to be a purest and waste time hunting down multiple ranger carts. You do you boo.
My hunt took me 1,660 hours, and I spent almost two and a half years on it. Using CFW doesn't mean the hunt will be any easier. It's about forward thinking and being cautious.
Edit: Also, I didn't give you a rebuttal because I explained why CFW is essential for the hunt in the video. Maybe watch the video before complaining, lol.
