Nice Video. The waters you are fishing also have a lot of gilthead bream, fairly easy to catch with scavenged crabs and very good eating. There is no minimum size limit (or nursery area!!! ;) ) on those.

It is good you qualified that location as being your neck of the woods. In the USA you would need a high power motor (50 HP or more) a large boat over 12 ft.a live bait well, fish finder, and a trolling motor. That comes with a huge truck and trailer. 🙂👍😉
Dom your "Judas & Hank" comment cracked me up from the very start. I loved the way Hank looked over Carly's meal but he looked away just like the well trained boy he is. Foraging in "flip flops"........... what can't this provider do? Collecting muscles and Dom turns it into a contest..........Best of three. That's just like when 2 boats sail its always a race. Again another cinematic masterpiece. Just love watching you three. Take care ....... lots of love from Down under!

Maybe a big pile of skinny fries to go with those mussels next time , though I think you were spot on cooking them with white wine and shallots . Your hunter gatherer skills are definitely improving 😃🍻🥂

Loving it. Cracking video. This might sound like heresy but I’ve traded a brace of decent bass before at a waterside Devon pub for a couple of fillet steak meals with chips. An extension of the self sufficient philosophy. The pub was happy (rod caught bass sells at a premium) and I was happy. Perhaps encourage Hank to appreciate prawns by first rubbing the prawn with a sausage!

love the channel, we have been following you three from the beginning. As I'm a sailor and a fisherman i so get what you are doing. One tiny tip, turn the ratchet off on the fishing reel so you can backwind. As the fish comes to the boat you have to raise the rod to keep the bend in it and to do it you need to backwind, ie let a little bit of line backout so you can go more vertical with the rod. You should have a little switch under the reel to turn the ratchet on and off. As the fish come to the boat and you cannot control the backwind because you take your hand off the reel handle to land the fish, stop the backwind by sticking out your finger that's holding the rod. most people loose the fish right as they go to land it, you either rip the hook out or snap the rod tip. But please keep going, we love the channel
Fascinating and inspirational, thank you. On the survival topic, have you thought of doing one on traditional navigation? Perhaps a short trip with no instruments or plotter, just lead line, compass, charts and old-style log line. That would definitely be worth watching.
Sounds like a great idea, although I feel like I’m going to need to get a little braver/ more confident a sailor first, but I really do love the idea! 👌🏼

Great video you should watch pucky from sailing freedom to see what he does with his fish. Smoking it in an old sink and eating the carcass and eyeballs
Great Video. When did you switch from your petrol to an electric outboard? Do not seem to remember a video covering the Torquedo? Are you happy with it.
We didn't make a video about it, someone kindly lent us the outboard to see what we thought of it. It's great for weight and not needing fuel, it's also nice and quiet for fishing and just getting to shore, but if you want to go 'fast' then the battery dies very quickly and it takes forever to charge back up, so it has its pros and cons for sure.
Fantastic! Do you have any additional book recommendations? My grandma owns the woods above your fishing spot and it’s a joy to see it as a backdrop for much of your video! It seems you were very up to the challenge, a harder one with more traditional fishing methods would be so cool to see.
And a fantastic backdrop it is! Such a beautiful place. There’s so many more challenges I’d love to do, just to see what we’re capable of and I think we just might 😬🐟🐟🐟
The seahorse like thing is a pipefish - a iirc they are related to seahorses. Also, bass carcass makes for an awesome fish soup. On the soup note; there are many edible seaweeds, laver and sugar kelp being some of my favs. PS Thanks for all the videos!
your outlook on self-sustainability is enviable. check out zingaro and sailing into freedom. these guys are really into sustainable eating, especially plucky in freedom. he doesn't even have a fridge. freerange is another good one. i haven't found a channel that deals with trolling yet. this is a good when spending weeks at sea. learn free diving for lobsters, crab etc. maybe get yourself a lobster/crab pot for those long stays at anchor. oh and one reason for all of this is that in the carib and pacific, inshore/reef fish tend to be deceased(?) lovely video thanks.
Can i suggest you take what you need on ability to store the food. survival requires an element of greed. say you woke up and the weather was beyond prime and all you could gather was a few sea snails .... if the fish are bighting fill the freezer . Also look into soups and start using the carcass or pickling the meat. great post guys i do love this stuff.
There are strict rules in the UK when it comes to bass fishing. I believe last year when this was probably filmed you could only keep a couple of fish per day.
Congratulations, you are a great story teller and your videos are well crafted. Great idea for the fish survival week - hope it has not put you off fish - but twice a week is fine. Please tell me that after processing the fish fillets - you used the carcasses to crack out a good fish stock or a nice bouillabaisse. 😉Keep up the good work.😀👍⛵️

Your fishing skills are excellent now. You made a tactical error by letting Judas eat your fish though! 🤣 I also noticed you were fishing without beer. Having never done that myself, I’m not sure how that works.
I don't know whether this is right, so please check. But, I seem to remember being told when I did a forage course the there are licences required to harvest some shellfish species in The UK. There are certainly size restrictions and some species are restricted at different times of the year. It's been really interesting watching your SC output and I've now caught up from Ep 1. Thank you for your time and effort to produce these.
Different areas seem to have differing bylaws, but in Cornwall it's mostly minimum size and maximum number restrictions, as well as in and out of season times you're allowed to harvest.
My god man, what are you doing? eight minutes in and your sharing your bounty with a non believer! The rules are simple, your either in or your out. ye of little snacking faith
I’m not sure what you mean exactly by ‘off script’? it’s a vlog, sometimes there will be cooking, context explanations, scenic drone shots, the occasional rant about the marketing of vegan ‘meats’, maybe even my thoughts on western democracies and the free world looking like it’s being sacrificed and turned into a totalitarian, dystopian nightmare, by authoritarian, tyrannical leaders, whilst also being cheered along by members of society that I struggle to understand. Sometimes I may share a cocktail recipe or a good dog walk, who knows? It’s all just luck of the draw for how I feel that day, there really is no script 😬😇✌🏼

The slender fish is someone of the family Syngnathidae, probably a Nerophis ophidion.
Always wanted to know where does your dog do his thing while you are not close to shore ? SY Frya, over...
We're always close to shore 😂😂
He has been known to go on deck when we're out of sight of land, but only when he's super desperate and he really doesn't like doing it 😔
Where are you, in the Fal or Helford ?
This video was Helford. 😊
@@CadohaAdventures Its not really 'Sailing Cadoha' anymore, really enjpyed the initial videos. Please don't end up like 'Sailing Uma' they're really uninspiring. Go sailing thats why we watch the channel. A 4 month delay in the location doesn't really help either. Saying that Hank always makes me chuckle.
Are muscles better than. In restaurant?
Just wondering, does Hank ever eat fish?
Yes Hank loves fish :)
What type of fish ?
The egg is from some kind of a Ray
Your fishing skills are excellent now. You made a tactical error by letting Judas eat your fish though! 🤣
I also noticed you were fishing without beer. Having never done that myself, I’m not sure how that works.
Ha ha, I’m with you there, generally, but a beer at 8am is even early by my standards 🤣🐟🐟
Great video but less Bass, more Mackerel would have been good.
Why bother with all the scrubbing of the shells you only eating what's inside 🤔
I guess because you cook them in their shells and then eat the sauce they're cooked in and so you end up with less grit in it?
Fair enough we have tons of them here in New Zealand but shell is always clean, good tucker ,great video.
You wasted a lot of good food by noy using the head
We actually used it to bait a crab pot :)
Please tell me Hank dosen't have to wait a couple of days for a poo or a wee
Of course he doesn’t.
???????
@@@@@@@
My god man, what are you doing?
eight minutes in and your sharing your bounty with a non believer!
The rules are simple, your either in or your out.
ye of little snacking faith
I know, I'm rewarding disloyalty and no doubt making a rod for my own back there 😂
Looks like your going off script. Stay with thecsailing and fishing not the other bollocks
