I have been following your travels on TH-cam. I am a sailor and a father. Ten years ago my wife and I had a similar experience with our IVF second child. I am happy to say, she not only made it, but at 9, she is a women's open national gymnastics champion. She is preparing for the World Championships next year. She made it through so much and it has made her the strongest person I know. I know your son will grow big and strong because of and in spite of all he has lived through. Boats are nice. Travels and adventures are nice, but this adventure will change your life. All the best, and thank you for sharing.
That was wonderful Dom. Our first son was born totally unexpectedly at six months through. He too had collapsing lungs and other issues to navigate. Thankfully we all came through as a family and he has gone on to succeed academically and work wise. Interestingly, at the time we had taken time off work to build our own wee Grand Design in the New Zealand bush. We were living in a garage and were completely unprepared for this event. You’re right, at the end of the day there was, only one priority for the challenging three months that followed. Go you guys!
Great to see you all fit & well, take care of your priorities and we will await your return.
So glad everything has worked out well for Carly and Hudson, don't be afraid to show your emotions, it was a very difficult time for you all, Hank will soon be Hudson's best friend, he's not sure yet, which is understandable, enjoy your time together, the channel can wait, we all understand, stay safe and give Carly, Hudson and Hank plenty of love and cuddles
in 1919 my Grandparents gave birth to a very premature little girl .
They were warned not to become to attached as she was a " sickly " child .
Well 96 years later the doctors predictions came true and she passed away .
but in that very brief 96 years she grew up , raised a family of her owne and became my favourite aunt .
As an 83 year old man and someone who found great pleasure in watching your adventures, I felt so sorry to here what happened. You are such nice people.
Take good care of your precious little angel.
Our story is so similar, our miracle is now 5 years old. I'm so proud of you all 🥹💛
It doesn't matter what anyone does in life, family always comes first. Great to see you all are doing well.
Carly, Dom, Hank and Son. Many thanks for sharing this journey with your larger family. Prayers and love, Peter
Wonderful to see you all again - and thank God everyone is good!
No Way! I was a mess the longer you were telling the story all the way up until 20:15 when I finally got the hint that at least one of your precious family were ok. Not sure of your religious views, but i stopped the video and prayed for your family righ there. What a relief when you opened the door to see mom and baby sitting comfortable by the fire! I am sure you are all not completely out of the woods, but so thankful for the progress thus far.
My heart goes out to you both after that story, but so glad, and relieved, it was a happy ending. I can't see anyone complaining if you need to get things off your chest, and need to take a walk in the woods. It's good to talk and you've got thousands of ears here willing to listen. Take care of yourself, Carly, Hank and your new arrival, and take the time to enjoy them.
Not going to lie you broke two grown ass adults to tears in the first half of this video. Amazing to see a happy ending and wishing you the best to you guys. ❤
Damn Dom, I'm a man in his mid 40's now sitting in my ⛵️ crying. I've got my three sons here with me and couldn't help but mentally put myself in your spot. What a heart breaking beginning to an absolutely beautiful beginning! You four will do great!
We are delighted to see you altogether. You are very brave to share the story.
Of course supporting each other had to be the only priority.
Thanks to our wonderful NHS, overstretched and underfunded but still there when we need them.
We will still be here when you are good and ready with no pressure.
I am so pleased you are all OK now. Best wishes from land locked Leicestershire.
I a wizened ex traffic cop and you’ve just had me in bits. Having seen misery in the flesh so to speak, I am so glad this has turned out well for you. I wish you three all the best in the months and years to come.
August 1988 it happened to us. Yeah. Totally relate. Don't know how you managed to articulate that. 2 mths premy 3lbs. They didn't have the amazing drugs they do now. 36 this year a marine engineer. That time never leaves you. It took me right back. 😢
OMG, your vid popped up in recommended so I don't know what you guys get up to but as I listened to your story, Dominic, my heart was in my mouth & I truly feared the worst esp having read that post you flagged up near the start. I was SO relieved to see that Hudson & Carly made it through - such a picture of joy & contentment at the end. Family comes first. Us lot can wait....
May the Cadoha team continues to be blessed with good health and abundance in life ❤
First time viewer, now Subscriber.
Well, I am thrilled to hear of the positive outcome to your emotional introduction. To have both your wife and child in ICU at the same time had to be maddening. My daughter (2nd child) was only (only compared to your child’s) 6-weeks premature in October 1991 and I understand your anxiety. She ended up back in hospital for Christmas for a week with pneumonia and that was an anxious time for me. I am glad to see both are doing well now.
Looking forward to seeing your vessel being worked on and later sailing. Your Dog appears to be a Vizsla, is that correct? If he is, then he will be quite a loyal companion for your child. He (Dog) is quite handsome.
Good luck.
Hi, 31 years ago my wife and I went through the exactly same experience. Watching the video brought back all those memories of that tiny child of 800 grams and the things happening during those month. So our son is about your age and doing well. And you know now what this means. It means everything. Congratulations!
He’s beautiful!! Thank you for sharing your story.
All the best to you three. Nobody cares about what happens to the boat, as long as all of you are fine!
Congrats to the young man for fighting through!
Heart goes out to you all. All the best going forward . Thank you
HE IS ADORABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No worries on time away. Priorities are important. Hugs to all 3 of you, and ear scritches to Hank!
Just astonishing.
We had an early 1.2kg baby, nowhere near what you experienced, but he's now a fine 31 yr old. I wish all 3 of you the very best (and yes, we naturally took him on the boat when he was 7 or 8 months old...)
On December 31, 2000, my wife, seven months pregnant, went into preterm labor, and gave birth four days later. Our son wasn't quite as premature as yours, but was 8 weeks early. He spent 23 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care. My wife had a placental abruption, and lost a lot of blood as well. Last December, he graduated college, and starts his career as a teacher in August. I'm so, so glad this has had this end of the beginning! My prayers and best wishes for a long and healthy life for both your wife and your son. I pray you can be as blessed as I have been!
Hi guys, I felt every emotion that you were sharing because it brought back a lot of anxious memories for me..
My daughter was born 5 weeks premie, with multiple organ issues and joint problems and spent 4 weeks in a humidicrib in IC. My wife fell into a 'septicemea' coma during the birth and was put into a medical coma for 3 weeks. But the stars aligned and they both survived. My daughter is now 41 and I am still waiting for my first grandchild.
It is fantastic that your family is healthy and happy and I look forward to your future adventures..
All our thoughts with you all, regular followers lovers of the channel. Can relate to babies and partner in intensive care (twice). Crap situation and as you say - awakening life moment. So pleased to see you all out of hospital and getting settled at home together. ❤ 27 years later our little intensive care baby just had her own. how fast time goes, but will never forget those moments. Day by day...one foot in front of the other...small steps and loving support from family and friends will see you through any storm. take the time you need, will always be a follower of CA.
My heart almost stopped watching this video. As you said, there are sometimes moments in life when everything suddenly becomes unimportant, except health. So glad to hear that everything turned well in the end. All the best to all of you and congratulations to having a beautiful boy!
O wow we had no idea 😮 we are so pleased your all together again happy and healthy 💕 I'm sure Hank will get used to the new member of the crew eventually 😂 love to you all ❤️
Wow! Thank god you are all ok. Ok now I have to say something - I was very very premature 70 years ago. St Mary’s Hospital in Portsmouth had just taken delivery of some new fangled incubator things when I arrived so early my mum didn’t know she was even pregnant. Thanks to the amazing NHS, and parents as wonderful as I know you will be, I am here 70 years later and I am still fighting fit. In short so take it from me because I have lived it. Your little boy will be fine, you will all be fine. Thank you for the update I appreciate how difficult it was for you to tell.
0:30 Hi Guys, Wow, how scary was all that, so happy it all worked out for all three of you.
Wow! I was very worried how this video was going to end, but im so glad of the happy ending! Love to you all ❤
I've been through it, stand tall, and keep faith in one another.
You need to be strong, and selfless.
After watching the 3 of you since you started and to know that there is now a 4th fills me with so much happiness. Both Carly and yourself have gone through a most traumatic period and it is lovely to to now see you all together and looking forward to new adventures. May God bless you all and may your new arrival soon learn the ropes of life and ,of course, of sailing. ♥♥♥
Thank goodness for fast forward……. Glad to hear all is well though.
OMG what a trauma. No need to offer excuses for absence. In fact i am amazed you are back so soon. The NHS are great at these extreme moments. Make sure you balance boat versus home. Hank is so well trained - knowing Hudson takes priority over him. Having a young kid is very tiring. Do only what you can, and don't feel bad about the rest
Hi guys, I am so sorry that I have never seen your channel, but I I decided to click on and listened to this episode, brother, I feel for you both , I am a grandfather of 8 grandchildren. My eldest daughter, Robyn, was borne at 7 weeks premature, she had Downsyndry’. This is almost 5 years later and she is the best gift our family could ever be privalived we have ever received.
My point to telling you both this is there are, sometimes in life we experience these trials, sometimes there is a reason for this but look at what you both have now, best of luck and happiness for the future 👍👍❤️❤️
all the love in the world guys. Family is number one! thats it, no more needs to be said.. take care, get well, see when you can
My heartfelt best wishes to all of you. I was pleased to see a new video appear, but I didn't expect it to bring tears to my eyes. So pleased that it's all working out now, you'll be fantastic parents I'm sure.
So glad your family is doing well. They are your number 1 in life, and absolutely nothing is more important then they are. Your little boy looks beautiful and healthy as does Carly.
I was tearing up and fearful at first, but everything turned out fine.
Love to you all. Looking forward to your adventures as a group of 4.
So happy for you that everything turned out for the better. Your family is more important than making boat videos even if they are excellent. Take all the time you need with your wife and newborn. All the very best for the future!
It's so cool to hear Carly's laugh again. It's so lovely.
C'mon people! Everything will be fine :)
Greets!
I am so so glad there is a happy ending to this vid, had me in bits for most of it. What a roller coaster. I am so very happy for you all
Hi Guys, my love thoughts and prayers are with you. Reg
Wow, what a story - full marks to u handling it all, goodness, bless u all
Congratulations, and I'm sorry it was such a fright. My kid#2 was 8 weeks premature, spent 2 months in NICU, and is now 21, 6'3" and studying animation. I'm.gkad everyone is okay.
First of all Congratulation on your family member!!! So happy your family is healthy and ok. Do not worry about us we will be here for you when you come back, first take care of you and your family.
Not “a bunch of strangers for entertainment”, but a strange kind of asymmetric friends, who all know you, but you have never met any of them 😊. This must have been a terribly difficult video to record, and some of the breaks were evident and very understandable. I can assure you, this was not entertainment, but a desperately sad yet welcome update on some ‘very special sailing friends’.
So lovely to see that wonderful smile and hear Carly’s laugh again. Mutual swipe right as you once said to me ❤. And wonderful to see them both now home with you and well. I am finding it hard to contain tears. Wonderful to hear all is getting better. Good enough for you to consider Cadhoa again 😊
Congratulations on the new family, if a little earlier than you expected. And thank you for sharing such a very personal experience in such a lovely way ❤❤
Sorry you had such a torturous journey, but glad it ended well. Congratulations on becoming loving parents and enjoy your new Life...
That was not what I was expecting. Just stumbled across your channel.
Wishing you and your family all the best.
I know this story, and that was still a hard watch - well done for getting through it, Dominic, and taking such amazing care of Carly, Hudson and Hank!! Love you guys
So relieved to hear this had a happy ending 🥹 sending lots of love, really hope you can relax and enjoy from now on xxx
That must have been a very harrowing experience all round, but congratulations to you both, and to our wonderful NHS for doing what they do. My (ex) wife was a premature baby, she came in to the world weighing 2lbs, that was in 1956 before all the specialist wards and equipment were availablle, and she's had no ill effects from her premature start. Glad to have you back online, but the main thing is you're all ok, everything else can wait!
Hudson is your main focus and will be for a decade or two
Massive love and hugs to you all ❤ so glad you are all doing well, we've missed you guys
... so pleased that your story had a happy ending, take care guys :)
Hi you all, congratulations and a warm welcome to the new crew member of your sailing Family. Take your time with the baby, because the babytime is so quickly gone, you can‘t rewind it and there is nothing more important as the first month‘s being together with your little boy as a family of now four. The videos and your audience can wait, but not that cute little boy. Fair winds and following seas from a retired couch sailor in Germany who made the mistake not to take the time with his own kids when they were Babies, cause the job was more important at that time.
I have tremendous empathy for your situation. My son was born 10 weeks premature but is now 22 and doing well so I can understand. I also had a huge health scare in November last year which has turned my life upside down. Best wishes for your future and even though the world seems like a dark place now there is still hope and I I wish you well for the future
You have told a terrible and wonderful story that will resonate with many families, sailing or not, who experienced a similar life changing event.
It is so important to see how these moments shake everyone including you.
So thank you for this. It will help others to hear your story.
I hope that people are generous enough to continue supporting you, no matter how much or little you post.
Enjoy your time together and although the boat is a wonderful project make sure you have time to think. Walks in the country with our dog are the best moments for me to do this.
Another point, please make sure Hank gets enough attention and cuddles, specially if he is near your little one; being able to sniff and being close him is very important for them to bond. Focus on Hank so he still feels as the number one in your life and is not replaced by the new arrival in the family.
Enjoy every single day.
We have been sailing down the south coast this last few weeks using your anchorages and videos as we settle into our new life. Your videos have never been far from our thoughts and we missed your updates.
I went through something very similar with one of my sons 27 years ago, your life is suddenly not your own and your days are wildly out of control. When sailing you have some level of control over your life and your vessel but a very sick child is a superhighway roller coaster. I’m so glad to see you all doing so much better and now you can start to get that roller coaster back under control. My son is now a 6ft 4 super hero, he played rugby at school to a national level and left University 3 years ago. You probably will have lots more sleepless nights and a few extra speed bumps to negotiate so take your rest and don’t worry too much about the videos we will still be here waiting for you and wishing you all well. Looking forward to meeting Hudson in the videos one day. Give Hank a big hug . Dogs are very aware of what is happening too
Wow, scary moments!! Glad that Carly and son are on the mend. Blessings to all of you!! 🙏🙏🙏
What an amazing story! I can’t imagine how traumatic that was for you all, so pleased you are all okay!
Wow how awful that must have been, glad you are all good now.
So glad this all had a good ending. God bless you all.
Bardzo, ale to bardzo dawno temu nie obejrzałem czegoś tak emocjonalnego. Był moment że łzy cisnęły mi się do oczu. Zasługujecie na szczęśliwe zakończenie. Kocham Was. Trzymajcie się ciepło. Mam nadzieję że szybko wrócicie na łódkę. Pozdrawiam
Oh my Good, I really feel with you, i am so happey to see Carly and the tiny boy together with you too. Good luck with everything.
What a wonderful ending( beginning). I was truly in tears with you and I normally don’t do that type of thing. I hope you can feel the big hug I’m sending all three of you. So happy it worked out well. Looking forward to the continuing adventures.
I am so sorry to hear what you have all been through. The important thing now is to care for your family. God Bless.
One of the most touching and well spoken videos I have ever witnessed, Thank you both for being willing to share this with us.
What an emotional time it's been for you all, Carly and Dominic! My heart goes out to you! ♥️
How wonderful to hear and see that Carly and your precious bambino are going from strength to strength! 🙏♥️ Thank you for sharing. Go well! xxx🌻
The Love a Father has for his child is Unconditional, and no matter what! You will do anything to Love and protect them and their Mother which you have done I had a similar episode with my daughter who is going to be 28 yrs old this year. I feel for you 3 and I am so glad things are improving and you were right to be away for the channel and keep it Private as it is All our love to you all
I am so very happy all has worked out for the three of you. It must have been frightening to say the least.
That was a tough start to parenthood! Glad you're all doing good now ❤
Feeling for you. My daughter’s birth was similarly traumatic, though near full term, and my niece was a 26 week birth. Both now fantastic adults and doing really well in life. Hugs to all.
Congratulations on your new baby boy, hope you take some time as a family before you worry about anything else.
God bless all three of you and thanks for sharing
Wow. Incredible. So happy this thriller ended OK. My best wishes to the four of you. Being a dog person I got emotional when Dom got emotional, could not go on telling the story and Hank's wagging tail appeared, asking: "Are you OK boss?"
Thank God for miracles.very happy for your family. Cheers and support from Canada
I'm so happy that Carly and Hudson are doing well. I was beginning to wonder why I hadn't seen a post from you in a while and when I saw this link pop up today I clicked it immediately. To say the least I was surprised. I didn't even know that Carly was pregnant - not sure how I missed that. I'm just happy that Mom and Baby are home and doing well. You really had me worried at the beginning of the video and I was praying that all would be well. It's so good to see Carly's smile and I'm looking forward to hear how things progress. I'll be praying for your little son that he'll grow up big and strong! God Bless you and your family. Love your videos - all the way from central Ohio, USA.
I’m In bits 😢 wow lots of love. Well done opening up like this you are going to be amazing parents! X
So glad things turned out good. My heart goes out to the three of you. WOW!! what a rollercoaster of a time.
Take care of the family, and I'm sure we'll see you all when thing's have settled down. All the best. XX
So happy for you all...
Had a little cry...
Sooo! Glad it’s turning out ok now What a emotional video Well done to both of you and the baby. All the best for the future
Oh goodness. Glad that you are all ok. Very best wishes. James
I am so glad all 3 (sorry 4 of you with Hank!) of you are doing so well. An incredibly emotional and well told experience. You all look so good now & best wishes for the future, after this you can deal with anything! ⛵️🎉
Thank you so much for your story, life is precious and so glad to hear that everything turned out well.
Man what an emotional roller coaster watching this was ! So pleased this story had a happy ending !!! Much love guys - all '3' of you ! Well 4 I guess including Hank.
May God keep you, bless you, and heal you.
Jeff
I’m so happy that mum and baby are doing so much better ❤hugs
Great to hear everything worked out well and everyone is nice and healthy. I'm putting my little one to sleep as I write this dreaming of taking her to sail in a few months!
Thanks for sharing so completely. Best to all of you!😂
so kind , And brave of you to make this touching video, My best wishes to you all. My wee daughter was born at around 7 months, It was scary times. She is now 27. Great to see your all well , And Hank
I’m so pleased you are all safe and well and hope that it’s a smooth journey with regards to everyone’s health from now on.
Huge congratulations from Carlotta and crew. What an ordeal you have been through. Great episode Dom.
This is only your second video I've watched and found you while researching wet exhausts.... but oh man, I was crying half way through this video. It reminded me so much of the birth of my son and it was so close that I almost lost my wife and my son. I'm so happy to see that you guys are doing better. This must have been such a hard video to make.
My heart ached when I imagined the range of possible results that could have been, the natural fear I felt as a father myself was almost overwhelming. When you finally moved ahead in the video to the presence of Carley with your baby boy, the smile she had was all I needed to know everything was as it needed to be as it had to be for this family. Thanks for sharing.
An extraordinary period for you both. Difficult doesn’t begin to describe it. Strength of character shines through and testament to you both and the good and very remarkable and skilled people caring for both Carly and Hudson. A moving and empowering recount Dom. best wishes. P
Thanks so much for the touching update. As a retired paramedic I've witnessed everything you described, and felt deeply for you through it all. So glad to watch the denouement at the end, with all well and good! Look after yourselves; that's the most important thing. Take care!
Lots of love and best wishes to you all. Carly looking fabulous. So pleased to see you all reunited
