Check out my limited edition print run at art.alluringarctic.com . ONLY AVAILABLE UNTIL END OF JANUARY 2025. I selected these photos from the ones I took along the Northwest Passage. They're printed on rigid aluminum panels and come ready to hang on your wall (no need to frame, hanging kit included). Shipping worldwide and a free shipping offer is also available! On this 6th leg of our Northwest Passage attempt we sail east from Utqiagvik, into our first real encounter with sea ice. We're trying to reach Qiqiktaruk in Yukon, Canada. We've heard that there's a great sauna there and as Finns you must check it out! Hope you enjoy the video!
When it comes to the web store I'm kind of running a one-man-show here, so if you experience any issues with the webpage or the store please let me know! (comment here or send an email to juho@alluringarctic.com). Thanks!
Drop everything !!! Alluring has dropped a new video!!! The fact that you mastered this stressful passage so well, with four of you on the narrow boat, and probably overtired, speaks volumes! Social skills and all that. (And seamanship, of course.) Hats off!
Love watching your adventures, educational and entertaining. Explanation on the maps and seeing the animals is great I would never see this in person I click on your uploads as soon as you put them on. Thank you. Great to see intelligence and curious humans on the planet. I don’t see so much of it in the US with what’s coming to us in January blindness and ignorance. Thank you.
I watch most all of your videos but these lately are outstanding. Really enjoy them and see you through a completely different light now. Mad respect for your abilities and knowledge. I just purchased a sailboat. I never sailed before and know nothing about it. The first time I took the boat off of the dock I got grounded in just a few miles. Thanks to Sea tow I go underway and made it safely to my new port. My boat needs a lot of work. In time I plan to go somewhere other than being at a dock working on my new home
Drone counter-dolly tracking with foreground bergy bits and sloop gliding through the background is brilliantly engaging cinematography-wise. Good eye sailors, beyond beyond imaging.
I got to admit I'm a little bit adventure-envious now, despite the temperatures. Also hilarious: Finns describing their icy surroundings in comparison to home waters 😆 Keep the spirits up, Ms Sohvi and the lads! Thanks for sharing.
Recently discovered this channel, and I am absolutely gobsmacked! This is an awesome undertaking, really inspiring. Camerawork is excellent, and some of the drone footage is breathtaking, drones really are a game changer for a channel like yours. The only thing disappointing me watching these is getting to the end of each video. However, I get some consolation going through the earlier Alaskan videos while awaiting the next NW Passage episode. Keep up the great work, and stay warm!
Curiosity got the best of me and a couple weeks ago or so, I looked up your boat on a ship tracker app and saw it in Greenland. I am enjoying your videos.
Hey guys, excellent video of your voyage through the pack ice. Good job with making use of the ice charts, satellite images, and weather routing information. I loved your asymmetrical spinnaker in a sock. I have one for my Catalina sailboat and have used it extensively. Glad you enjoyed the sauna, and yeah, pour freshwater on the stove next time 😂😮😅 Hey, I noticed you were drinking Alaskan beer, which is brewed in my hometown of Juneau. Our local brewery has one many international awards and the Alaskan brewing Company used to give us two pony kegs for our 300 mile race around Admiralty Island. Probably the best beer you can get in America. Be safe, good luck on the rest of the passage, hope you get your water leak from the exhaust fixed because that looks like a hassle. 😮
Nice to see the place in summer. Buddy Bob who was caretaker there brought a forty foot ketch (owned by an American scientist) from Herschel to Inuvik about 1983 causing phones at the locall newspaper to explode, "there's a sailboat in the East Channel!". Great adventure.
Stunning footage and adventure! Biography of Amundsen including North-West passage on Gjoa was possibly my favourite book in my childhood. Great to see you taking the same route just with opposite direction.
Great and brave sailing adventure, to start the Thrilling section of your Expedition with a Sauna bath in this exposed area is a Hard earned gift. Good Look & stay tuned
Witnessing what it takes to exist without civilization on hand reminds me of how far we've come as a species. Whether we are happier for it is another question.
Awesome video I look forward to your documentary of this great journey that you're on every week. Although that the climate, land and sea are changing. I am confident that you're intelligent enough to realize that this is what this Earth has been doing since it was created. It is sad to see some of the natural destruction, but as you pointed out the sea ice that you experience was hold over from last year. Anyways keep up the good work really value your opinion and The epic journey that you people are doing. 👍
This channel is by far the one that I look forward to the most on TH-cam Facebook the news everything. My wishes of smooth sailing and success to you and crew.
PS: it is hard to do I have worked. But you just have to ignore the bugs, it's a mind game. You're not going to stop then so you have to block them out mentally.
I enjoyed this episode very much. Sailing through ice and a new spinnaker and then finding a sauna to relax in! Plus the information about the warming climate - oh boy. I wonder how things will end? I hope the polar bears can survive. I would think that in the summer, when it is warmer, they don't need as much food - and that is when the ice is more broken up. Did you see any seals around? That's what the polar bears like to catch and eat, correct?
Lol! Still to cold 🥶 for me. But I want to Thank You for this week's video. I would like to Wish ya'll a Very Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 and Happy New Year 🎉. Until next time, Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii! Where it is summer year round here. Lol. Aloha and cheers 🍻
Hiho, seen all of your vids. Also like + did adventures, but never sailed. 😮 But also like sauna every week. Great as you asked the ranger , "because we are finns", for sauna😂. Enjoy your happening then as well. Hope you stay safe in greenland now. Greetings and happy chrismas from central germany.
silly question, but does suomen kieli have different words for different snow types, or is it like English, where we add adjectives to differentiate the snow types?
@@AlluringArctic Ah, we only consider the flakey stuff and really small ice (flurries) snow. Well powder, but that only applies to snow on the ground. Thanks for answering, I love the differences in languages. Well, except for conjugating nouns, that is one step too far 🙃
Finnish people complaining about sauna, haha :D But no, truly amazing videos and I am super curious about others adventures futher with you. Never like the winter season in my country, but you are making me loving the artic
Stunning phoptography. Sadly, I do not understand this sauna thing. I worked with a guy years ago whose mother was Finnish and his dad French Canadian. He had a cottage in Sudbury Ont, complete with a sauna. In the Winter (!) he woould cook himself in this sauna, then run outside, stark naked, hop on his snomobile and pop down to a prepared hole in the frozen lake and jump in. Personally I think he was a brick short of a load. He invited me up (Installing hydro lines), but I stayed in the warm, whilst he gave himself thermal shock. Is this activity really good for you ? Please explain.

Love your survival suits! You looked like 3 red Mumintroll🙂
A real once in a lifetime adventure! The sauna alone justifies the epic journey through that labyrinth of ice! ; )
Loving it! What a treat to find a sauna as well... 😎

My goodness, five star chef on such a small boat! Easy cruising so far. Cedar boughs kinda scarce around there?

Everytime I see Juho with the drone I can't help think of that one time the drone just plopped into the water and Juho going "welp"
Been waiting for the next episode and here it is :-)
Great video again!
You guys are hilarious!!! Safe travels until your next sauna!!!
Just watching that ice makes me want to sauna, too....

wow..
Nice
Sauna!
I was amazed to see you did not take the rifle with you when on shore for the saunà. Or at least I didn't notice one 😮
U-toob has some odd rules on firearms..you run the risk of being demonetized.
You found a sauna in the Canadian Arctic. What's next? A McDonald's?
U guys living a good u llife
