Sadly my mum was a narcissistic person and an emotional bully. So been there, seen that, and tried to strangle a 15 year old 'classmate' because he made a nasty comment about my younger, severely disabled, sister. I was barely 5', and 100lbs soaking wet, but it took at least three other kids to hold me back from wanting to tear into him, right before a physics class took place. Funny thing was, after that, _no-one_ dare say a nasty thing about my sister ever again ... at least, not with me around ...
Even at age 8, or 9, it felt like I was more of a parent to my sister, than both our parents combined ... and I have an awful amount of regret for not doing more, given the sheer scale of abuse that was happening that affected us both, especially the literal criminal behaviour of our dad, and our mum, instead of doing the decent thing, and divorce his arse the moment he was jailed for nine years, instead not only buried it ... she visited him in prison ...
So, yes, I can imagine her older brothers being more fiercely protective of their younger sister than their own mum ... I would be ...

Unfortunately, from what I've seen on many of these shows, it's the case with too many mother/daughters. And the mother's trying to live, pagent wise thru their daughters.

I agree. If I remember correctly, her daughter won third place in this pageant. She's a beautiful little girl. Her costumes were gorgeous. And unlike a lot of the younger children I see on this show, she actually seemed to be enjoying the pageant. And even though she didn't win the top prize, she was proud and happy with what she DID win. I see a lot of little girls (some even older than Mia) who win SECOND place and still have a meltdown. Meanwhile, her mother just sat in the corner sulking like a brat with that ugly scowl on her face the whole time. The other lady was right.....a lot of those girls left with NOTHING. No trophy. No crown. No money. NOTHING. Her daughter gets a high title and $500 and rather than being PROUD of her, Mom is pouting like a 2 yr old because she didn't win a stupid, plastic trophy and a crown that was bigger. Shame on her.

I don’t even know this child and k was watching with a smile, honored I got to see her experience such a happy moment. She’s a winner, always. You also had the opportunity to witness your son comfort your daughter, another beautiful moment most parents cherish. You had the opportunity to just..enjoy this day.
I felt like the show really tried to portray the children as spoiled, when they should’ve been portrayed as abused.
I feel like this show shouldn't have been made at all. It should be cancelled and forgotten. No little kid deserves to be treated like crap in reality shows like these.
@@claritycrystal8742 I don't think it should be cancelled, but you can really take it either way. All it's doing is filming what happens behind the scenes at these pageants. It's not helping the abuse in any way, but it is shedding light on the abusive nature of these relationships between children and parents.
@@jimmybobbyjoe behinds the scenes of these pageants which shows abuse and overly sexualizing their underaged daughters because they lack the self awareness to do the world a favor and blow their brains out already or give their child away to someone literally anyone else with better parenting skills instead they live like leeches through their underaged daughters so they can be proud with their useless lives, instead of exposing this the show glorifies fat women acting like 6 year olds, and makes the children look like the problem. Like we get it Haley or Brenda or Karen you got pregnant at 20 and want to prove your not a failure.

I feel so sorry for Mia. She quite obviously only wants her mother's love and attention. How she immediately ran to her mother and was all "look, money!" She knows that's the only thing her mother cares about. How fucked up is that.

Your child won money. Some kids there walked away with LITERaLLY NoTHING. No titles. No money. Her child got a high crown. And got a second place prize money. Celebrate your daughter 1st place or last.

The real thing mama wants is not the money, its the illusion of being "the best"-- Narcissists only care about how they think they appear to the world. It's ALWAYS all about them, and other people are just THings they use, and then discard by their put-downs and complaints. Then, when they've alienated the people who finally see through through their heartlessness, they look desperately around them for more people to fool, and to get attention from. Like a very self-centered 2 year old, except, they're adults.

Mia ended up getting cancer a couple years later. Luckily she won her fight but sadly no longer has hair. She is one of the most humble and kind children that has ever been on Toddlers and Tiara's. She deserves the world. ❤

And sitting in a corner pouting because it's "not what I came here for" is not going to help your daughter have realistic expectations of life. The best message is you can win but you have to work your butt off to do it. Toni Nadal said he would tell his nephew when playing Federer in their early days- Federer is way better than you, but you can win if you fight for it like there's no tomorrow.

Ultimate grand supreme is competition within all the age groups, hence “ultimate grand supreme” if you don’t get something in your age group it means you have a chance to beat older girls too. That’s why the start with every single age group first and then move on to the ultimate prize.

Growth really varies from person to person... I was 1,69m at age 11 and I looked just as, and I’d say more mature than this girl - keep in mind she’s wearing makeup too (that’s very aging).

This made me tear up a little. She was so proud of winning and her mother didn’t care about her feelings at all. I’m so insanely proud of my 2 year old daughter just when she puts her shoes on herself, I can’t imagine ever making her feel that small. Some parents make me so angry.
The dynamic in this family has changed as Mia was diagnosed with cancer shortly after the show. Now they are all about her health and care.

I know this type of mentality with parents.
My father put me in gymnastics, golf, swimming, karate, etc. and I had to be the best. I won gymnastics and golf, I was the star of my swim team..but he wanted more. There was an incident that happened when I went to the tournament for karate where I didn't get first place, but second. He was so disappointed. No congratulations, no nothing like 'I'm proud of you.'
He grabbed me up, his whole fist in my gi and said, 'Listen to me, you are competing in the next sparring match and you're going to win.'
I was so tired from the day (I had to get up at 5 for these tournaments) that I cried, saying I didn't want to fight, that I wanted to go home now. He forced me into the line for a sparring match. Turns out, I didn't have to fight because everyone forfeited the match because they didn't want to fight me. I won by default. My father was somewhat pleased, but he wanted me to take home two first place trophies, not just one.

Her brother was so sweet to her - ‘don’t cry, please’ - he’s more of a role model than her mum is and the fact that she says ‘forget about it’ to her dad just shows how much it’s been drummed into her that she needs to win. The problem with most of these mothers is that they couldn't find success in their own world, so they are hoping their kids can do it for them, and fulfill that void they carry. They'd be better off spending their money on a good therapist.

Ultimate grand supreme is competition within all the age groups, hence “ultimate grand supreme” if you don’t get something in your age group it means you have a chance to beat older girls too. That’s why the start with every single age group first and then move on to the ultimate prize.

stressing this poor little baby girl out making her feel like she isn’t good enough ugh i had enough of that with my family without them putting me on the spot with pageants like this this is so gross to me. if you do this with your child please stress the importance of this being for fun and your value isn’t based on how you look..

Mia has the best brother anyone can have, he is so supportive and really sweet, he comforted her and told her she’ll be up to get a big title. I also saw she was diagnosed with cancer and won her battle, I wonder how she is doing now. I hope they all are doing good and hope that the mom has had a change of attitude.

Sarah in my opinion, was a much better mom than Mia's. Sarah's daughter was definitely upset she didn''t win the highest title but her mom was like, "It's okay." She straight out said she was happy with what she did win. Mia's mom was like, "I got $500 but it's like I got nothing!" Seriously? You're dang right you got nothing, MIA won that money; not you. SHE did the talent, SHE modeled the clothes, SHE got on that stage like little queen you wanted. That is HER money lady, not yours. Little Mia knew exactly what she was going to do with it too!
