The Behringer sounds so damn good. I'm guilty of having been snobbish concerning dozens of other boutique pedals, but the Behringer is one of my favorite pedals to date. Hard to believe.
I loved your playing. I want to find one of these two but it seems hard these days... Given the Boss' reissue of the VB-2 (long due) they hopefully will become more popular and available.
to be honest the Behringer sounds pretty damn good, and in a live mix you would never be able to tell if it was a behringer or a real vb-2. The BYOC is a little better because you can mess with its parameters, but the behringer sounds great.
go for it. I dont know how much of a difference the caps will make as i havent done it, but as is, the byoc sounds exactly like my friends vb-2. the behringer is just a copy. plus, the byoc has trim pots which make dialing in a tone quite easy.
My Behringer sounds very modulated. This sounds more like pure vibrato. Theres defenitely vibrato on mine but theres also a lot of chorus like modulation. Anyone know whats wrong? Or is it just my settings? (cant seem to find one non-chorus-y myself)
if your depth or rate knobs are set too high, it could sound chorus or flanger-like. However if this does not seem to be the case, there could be an issue with the chip that produces the effect. I'm not sure if there is a trim pot to be adjusted for this as on the BYOC. My boss vb-2 doesnt.
Vince Di Francesco thanks for the input but it didn't solve it, sadly. I actually wonder if the problem is in the pedal. Maybe something to do with my setup? Maybe its all in my head. I cant see them on my crappy phone but when Im with a computer Im going to copy some of your settings and try to play along to really see if its the pedal. If it is you wouldn't happen to have some ideas as to what componet(s) to fix/replace?
I don't know. I do know that the IC chip that handled the oscillation in the BYOC is the same as the ones in the original BOSS version. They may be available on ebay, but AFAIK they are no longer produced. Look up the parts list for the BYOC vibrato to get the part number. I don't know if that would be a solution for the Behringer, though i doubt it. Without hearing your pedal, I can't expand. If you were to buy a replacement, it would end up being cheaper than any replacement part+shipping plus the hassle of repairing it.
Vince Di Francesco well I bought it with intention of re-housing and modding it with a friend who plays guitar and studied electronics (hes knowledgeable when it comes to this kind of stuff) so I could learn, so it wouldn't really be any hassle. Ill talk to him, but thanks for taking the time to try to help me out
Finally I can find this review on a bass and its a good one. Thanks for having high quality review and video.
PS Nice Qotsa shirt

Last i check BYOC website, they dont have the vibrato kit anymore. Missed opportunity for me.

For durability you can also buy 4 Behringers and still keep it cheaper, by the way ^_*
rock on, brah, rock ON!
The BYOC is 149 plus shipping. As a builder I might op for the behringer and swapping filter caps, case and switching for a fraction of the cost.

What happened in the end?
Represent!
yup, big time.
you explain that later in the video.
What positions do you usually keep your UV 300 knobs at?
I change em for different things
