Just like to make a quick suggestion after plastidip experience. The first coat make extremely light. The second just a fairly bit thicker. 3 and after let it rip. Lay it on. The first and second coat are the bonding coat and the thinner they are the better it holds up. Make sure all surfaces are extremely clean.
I just dipped mg bike for the second time. This time I sprayed megurires ultimate spray wax and it literally makes a world of a difference Changes the rubbery feel of plastidip and makes it less prown to scratching and marring Give it a shot and put a few good coats on to protect it
Tip - don't 'dip your parts outside like that, like in the vid u can get bugs, dust etc stuck to the coats. Overspray and fumes from spraying plastidip are not as bad as painting. I do mine in my garage with the door open and the ducted air con inside turned on so I get a gentle airflow happening. Other option is to do it in the bathroom with a a few down sheets and the extractor fan on. By the way the bike turned out pretty good!
how does it look my your knees? don't you rub your legs up against the plastidip, has it been rubbed away because if yours legs or? I really want to do this to my bike but I'm afraid i will rub away the plastic on the sides of the bike
make sure you do atleast 1 coat of clear after painting it..MAYBE clear coat it in the knee area every 6 months to a yr? Maybe before each riding season re clear it..just an idea.
I really love your videos they helped me decide to get a 250 myself (my first bike and I'm new to riding). I was wondering about the plasti dip though, how is it holding up and is it hard to clean? I just dipped my rims and found them to be a bit sticky and tacky. I was planning on dipping my ninja but this has me reconsidering, I feel like everything will stick to its tacky surface it and mess with the finish.
if the part your painting sits facing to the side lean it on something so its facing the side if somethings facing up lay it flat so its facing up then paint it
If I may ask a novice question, I was wondering if I were to use plasti dip my bike, or car for that matter, and the plasti dip rubs off, how would I go about washing it?
long smooth strokes, man.. you put it on pretty blotchy. and put the piece of plastic up on something so the edges aren't physically sitting on anything. I'll post a video as I'm in the process of painting my bike now
to bad about the bugs. but you should really cover that table with either some cloth or paper. cause the paint on the table seems to have done its job several years ago and its a risk of having the cracked paint in your fresh plastidip :D
I have a Yamaha r6 2015, but I'm thinking of getting myself a spare bike to commute to school. Really love the flex blue color scheme. Is a Kawasaki too small of a bike to commute 25mi to school one way on freeway around 70-80mph or is that pushing it?
‘This looks pretty good considering. Good job. Everything perfected takes practice. Can you post another video showing the areas most worn (ie: tank, sides where legs rub)? Also, to avoid premature peeling, would spraying the edges/slightly inside the part help with rubbing edges from peeling?
how is plasti dip ad far as durability? I was thinking of dipping my bike, but I want to know how it holds up to wear and tear like on/around the tank?
No problem, all depend what effects do you would like looks, if do you want vivid metallic red, could you spray matte red basecoat , then red metalizer top coat, think about 2 coats of base, plus 4 coats of metalizer, waiting 20 minutes between coats, thin and even coats. basecoats will give you different final result, black, white, gun metal. So over all , red basecoat with red metalizer would give you vivid red metallic .if do you want something more dark would be black basecoat, more bright white, more shine gun metal, =) remember the best result is good base prep, good clean your car or bike paint, could you use clay to make smooth clean paint and wipe with alcohol, then starting if nice basecoat couple times, then 4 top coats. good luck 'n I hope you get good job done over there. take it easy =)
I might be so wrong about this lol. But it's not called spray paint but plastic dip, so does that mean when it's dry you can peel it off like dry glue? Or is it actually paint Lol. Also can you get a shiny one of this dip to make it look metallic ? Thanks
just apply mineral spirits and wait like half hour and peel off. plastidip.com/our-products/plasti-dip/ read specifications: www.lowes.com/pd/Plasti-Dip-Black-Spray-Paint-Actual-Net-Contents-11-oz/3543514 good luck.
Hi there from Germany. I bought myself a 1998 Honda VFR 800 three days ago, technically erevthing's fine but it's painted black with Plasti Dip and the job has been f***ed up, so I want to remove the black Plasti Dip and recoat the remaining original blue color with white Plasti Dip, install some gold Honda and VFR stickers and finish the job with Plasti Dip Glossifier. (lights and instruments are getting changed with blue lights, should look awesome :) ) Compared to your Ninja 250 there is a lot more fairing which needs to get painted, so can you tell me, how much cans of Plasti Dip white and how much of Plasti Dip Glossifier I will need to geht the job done? If you needed 5 for your little Ninja, maybe something between 8-10 cans each? PS: Your bike looks awesome, great job! ;)
anyone watching this I tried plastidip on my bike and vinyl wrap. vinyl is more durable and looks better. you can get any color and even custom design. I have carbon fiber.
you should have sanded first. the paint would have gone on a hell of a lot easier and last alot longer if thete was no clear coat below the blue paint.
Plasti Dip (Dupli Colour brand) was a royal pain in the ass to use for me... It goes on super wet, and it also leaves a weird rough texture that seems to catch on things easy. It could be the brand I used... I don''t know, but I don't think I'll use it again.
It looks freaking great. Good Job. One thing that I have learned is that there this a thing called dip coat. It works great. It will help with the protection of it. If you don't use it you might get little scratches on it. Nothing to worry about but if you like the clean look you should try it. www.dipyourcar.com/Dip-Coat/ Can we talk about that snow! Its so early for that. Don't get me wrong I love snow but not till like Thanksgiving or just before. The tire penz make it look like you have been doing some snowcross. Keep up the good work and I cant wait to see your next video. Ride safe~
THATS LIKE PAINTING A DELOREAN!!!! lol You painted over factory team green Kawi green???!!! Dude...just...oh no...ohhhh no..that was painful to watch. Like someone tagging the side of a Ferrari, lol. Its your bike man, not hating on you,and it did come out better than I expected, and I get people get bored with the way their bike looks after awhile. Just saying, I cant wrap my head around how ANYONE would wanna paint over factory lime green. But,its all good man,we are all riders in the end,so whatever you want it to look like is all that really matters so, anyways..so let me ask,is the plasti dip for painting over motorcycle plastics and tank etc without having to sand and prime?
Just like to make a quick suggestion after plastidip experience. The first coat make extremely light. The second just a fairly bit thicker. 3 and after let it rip. Lay it on. The first and second coat are the bonding coat and the thinner they are the better it holds up. Make sure all surfaces are extremely clean.
I'm about to do my bike I'm thinking about adding a few coats of clear as well when I'm done.
@@brandonatkins9087 worth a try. Always had great success with it and helped resist against scratches and peeling
Yea thats what I was thinking as well try and keep it looking good as long as possible.
I heard it’s easier to take off if you do it the way you suggested
I've dipped a few bikes, you've got almost the same color I'm rocking right now. Nice job!
finally someone states how many cans they used! Thanks man!
I just dipped mg bike for the second time. This time I sprayed megurires ultimate spray wax and it literally makes a world of a difference
Changes the rubbery feel of plastidip and makes it less prown to scratching and marring
Give it a shot and put a few good coats on to protect it
That lack of can control

keep practicing buddy.... you need it....
How does it hold up to a scrubbing? I always have to put a little elbow grease to get bugs off...
how many cans did you use i want to pain the silver frame on my sv650s to black and want to know how many i was thinking 4 would be good but idk
dude, its in the video, lol. written in bold across the screen towards the end. Did u watch the video even?
How many plastidip have you used for the ninja 250r?????
how does it look my your knees? don't you rub your legs up against the plastidip, has it been rubbed away because if yours legs or? I really want to do this to my bike but I'm afraid i will rub away the plastic on the sides of the bike
Zapzal I did this on my old zx7. It looked terrible after a few months by the knees.
@@chrysspeeddraws7617 thinking of doing this to my zx7, how'd it turn out and what color you go with?
make sure you do atleast 1 coat of clear after painting it..MAYBE clear coat it in the knee area every 6 months to a yr? Maybe before each riding season re clear it..just an idea.
how many coats did you put on everything
move the can further away and You need to do longer strocks and overlap your spray patterns 75% while you move over your piece
can you use some clear coat to protect the plasti dip? i dont want to always have to coat it with wax...
you took the time to take the ferrings off but not the ONE screw that holds your directional lights on. Nice over spray.
which plastidip components did u used ?
How many cans total did you use
How many cans did u use?
Did you gloss before you sprayed?
its easy to peel off the paint ?
so how long did it end up lasting?
I really love your videos they helped me decide to get a 250 myself (my first bike and I'm new to riding). I was wondering about the plasti dip though, how is it holding up and is it hard to clean? That's a nice shade of blue. Looks good!
Looks great black and blue
Your not trying to spray flies with that can lol..... very entertaining.
how does it hold up?
if the part your painting sits facing to the side lean it on something so its facing the side if somethings facing up lay it flat so its facing up then paint it
If I may ask a novice question, I was wondering if I were to use plasti dip my bike, or car for that matter, and the plasti dip rubs off, how would I go about washing it?
After a couple of days it's fine my buddy plasti dip his truck and has used a pressure washer on it and it's fine
Did you use the glossy overcoat after the matte finish, or was that just matte?
It looks a amazing, however the rear tire looks awful
+Ariel gym tire penz?
arent u supposed to apply a bunch of small coats
can you clean the motorcycle normally? How durable is the paint?
+Christian Leonardo Vergara Marin yea you can clean your motorcycle normally, and if applied properly, you can leave it on for up to 3 years.
i dont make it properly :( the paint is pilling off a lot.... :(
did you use anything else in the paint like a gloss to make it shine? I think you just save me $1000 bucks thanks man your videos are awesome.
The parts you pint are metalic or plastic? The plasti dip works well in plastic?
Did the tank pad work out long term on the dip job?
Looks beatyiful, clean and stylish. Good work!
looks good i like the flat look .
You only used 4 cans for the complete bike? Why are 2 caps transparent and the other not?
What color blue is that
It looks like the blaze blue if I'm not mistaken.
Sand back first... followed by a prime.... then a few coats of colour?
Does anyone read the instructions??
long smooth strokes, man.. you put it on pretty blotchy. and put the piece of plastic up on something so the edges aren't physically sitting on anything. I'll post a video as I'm in the process of painting my bike now
Looks incredible!
to bad about the bugs. but you should really cover that table with either some cloth or paper. cause the paint on the table seems to have done its job several years ago and its a risk of having the cracked paint in your fresh plastidip :D
no sealer?
I have a Yamaha r6 2015, but I'm thinking of getting myself a spare bike to commute to school. Really love the flex blue color scheme. Is a Kawasaki too small of a bike to commute 25mi to school one way on freeway around 70-80mph or is that pushing it?
+Pedro not a problem at all man, I did 200 miles every weekend on my 250 @ about 85mph
‘This looks pretty good considering. Good job. Everything perfected takes practice. Can you post another video showing the areas most worn (ie: tank, sides where legs rub)? Also, to avoid premature peeling, would spraying the edges/slightly inside the part help with rubbing edges from peeling?
On a side note... I’d love to see a bike sprayed with LineX because that shit is extremely durable and looks pristine 👌🏽
Blue roi color ?
how is plasti dip ad far as durability? I was thinking of dipping my bike, but I want to know how it holds up to wear and tear like on/around the tank?
What color is this? I really like it and want to redo my Ninja 300 this color
That particular color is known as blue
Haha thanks, I meant if it's a certain variant of blue
Foster Rich ahaha
hey bro how much cans you use for the whole bike ?
I think his used 1 can per coat , so should use like 4 or 7 coats , may 4 or 5 can would be enough for the all job on this bike style .
Ohhh okayy thanks bro. Can I ask for your opinion. Is it okay if I make red plasti dip as basecoat and I dip red metalizer over it ?
No problem, all depend what effects do you would like looks, if do you want vivid metallic red, could you spray matte red basecoat , then red metalizer top coat, think about 2 coats of base, plus 4 coats of metalizer, waiting 20 minutes between coats, thin and even coats. basecoats will give you different final result, black, white, gun metal. Thanks bro Really appreciate your help :) Thanks again bro
How well has it/did it hold up? My ninja has some paint chips/flaking and could use a facelift.
What happened with that rear tire.
It's from those white stripes separating the road, he drove into fresh paint i guess
Killroy It's from a type of pen that you can use to decorate your tyres. You apply it in the tread.
I might be so wrong about this lol. But it's not called spray paint but plastic dip, so does that mean when it's dry you can peel it off like dry glue? Or is it actually paint Lol. Also can you get a shiny one of this dip to make it look metallic ? Thanks
fieldmarshaljoe you can peel it off anytime the stuff pretty amazing and durable as shit
Nice video bro .. I need some new fairings I tried creigslist but no luck u know any websites
What plasti dip color is that?
Christian Rosales flex blue
Catch it working for me.
just using it not
yep, worked for me
Came out clean
Is it easy to remove? Any damage to the tank?
Peels right off
just apply mineral spirits and wait like half hour and peel off.

read specifications:
www.lowes.com/pd/Plasti-Dip-Black-Spray-Paint-Actual-Net-Contents-11-oz/3543514
good luck.
I would have put like 3-4 layers of black on first, to make a good base coat, it'll make it so that the green doesn't show through
i think white primer would be better

First insect you hit will peel that stuff off, but I guess insect's are faster than your speed limits and overtake you in the states?
looks sick bro!
beautiful!
Does the plastidip on the fuel tank start to come off after riding for a while?
if you spill fuel it will disolve.
Nice. I usually order from dipit.ca but the shipping is like 30 bucks. Does prodip have free shipping by any chance?
Nice looks crazy
freakin beautiful

it looks awsome yessss
Mate how many cans of PlastiDip have you used up ?
+Krzysztof Ryba 5
Looks super cool! but that rear tire....thats no good
Nice bro!
250?
why did you ask the bug it it was serious?
Oh my at that turn signal
JAY1HP it d plasti dip. All peels off
I want a bright orange bike
sheraź
You did too much of a heavy coat starting off, give it time to dry and do multiple layers
Redline600 Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Some people don't know how to paint worth a shit.
Spanish: Recoméndamos no trabajarlo en aire libre, sino en cuarto.
The first bike he showed in the video does not look like the one he "plastic dipped". Look at the head light.
never spray paint in the sun :p
+DoomcatzGaming Or outside if at all possible.
I also plasti dipped my bike flex blue :)
How has the durability been
This bike has so much potential if the Tire Penz were not there.
Holy shit FUCK painting DIY im going for this..
yummy color

something came in the mail today.
It's not shiny anymore
+Fallen .Angel duh
sorry to say this does not appear a professional paint job, but then again
it is a ninja 250.
why plastic dip a 3700$ motorcycle when you could just pay 300$ for a custom fairing kit?!?!?!
Terry Jones they don't do them for every bike. Makes sense tho if you have a bit more money and pride lol
Terry Jones instead of spending 300 you'll only be spending about $50
Wow
looks great
