"average biker who wants to change the appearance of their bike for a reasonable cost". That's literally why I always wrap my bike instead of paint it 🤣
My father in law does this professionally as a sign business and he started back in the day rebuilding and wrapping sports bikes so I’m set…. He’s got a vinyl cutter and a designer on stand by…. I show them a race design and he will help me make this design to the teeee 🔥🔥 he’s in Gordon’s bay South Africa in the western cape if anyone wants to get in contact 🙌🏽 it’s really cheap and sooooo worth it 💪🏼 makes a huge difference like rim stripes…. Marlboro designs, motul logos, Petronas designs and yesterday he literally wrapped my gf mini in a martini race design 😂😂😂

@@2wheelhomie665 please let me know his contact details. I have been looking to wrap my bike for ages 😁 im in CPT
I’m glad I decided to watch a video before wrapping my bike. In my mind I was planning on sanding down the fairings I wanted to wrap 😭
I've watched dozens of videos about wrapping, and yours is by far my favorite. Thank you for making this
Great job for beginners. ✅PRO TIP: pieces were you used heat should be post heated afterwards. This means heating the warped pieces to about 212 degrees F (100 degrees C). The perfect tempurature differs from brand to brand so be sure to check a technical sheet to know the sweet spot. You can check the tempurature with a laser meter but a simple way to know if its heated sufficiently is to keep heating and applying pressure until you see the underlying glue pattern. This will mean you effectively break the memory function and fully break the glue lines that the vinyl has. For Avery this is a honey comb pattern, for 3M its a normal checkerdboard pattern.
"Laser meter" lol tell me you don't know what you're talking about without telling me you don't know what you're talking about.
@@WheatMillington arent those real? ive seen laser guns that measure temp before
@@ernop350 They are real. Chris is busting Jens balls for calling an infrared thermometer a "laser meter".
@@WheatMillington Less than 20.00 at harbor freight. depending on the temperature range had mine for over 5 years.
@@WheatMillington been in the industry for 6 years and thats what I still refer to it as. Lol dont be s dick
You did a great job explaining this, and made it approachable to so many. Now we are all going to be in our garage just thinking about possible design choices.
That cutting tape is pure magic, thx
Not a bad job, I've done plenty of wrapping (I'm a signwriter) you could have mentioned "post heating" the vinyl to lock on the shape you're wrapped. Well done :)
@@DJIInLondon he wrapped the tank of his old mt09 and filmed it
Fuck me, I read "songwriter" and thought WTF?! HA!
Just about to wrap mine, so this comes in handy!
Heat is your friend. Check out some car wrapping videos too, you'll find this seam method is good for amateurs, but the more skilled and experienced Can use a single piece (for most things) with some clever relief cuts and clever use of heat.
@@crisnmaryfam7344 thank you for the reaction! Ive noticed heat will be my friend, but not too much. Gonna try to do stuff in one piece. Got enough time this summer and gonna buy some extra vinyl
Super humbling experience. The fact that I decided to wrap my Ducati is mind blowing, curviest bike known to man it’s so hard to get the insides 😂
i remember walking past your bike in the uk when you were going to falmouth i wish i met you
And you didn't say hi!
i didn’t realise it was you until i watched your video :(
You definitely could have covered that first piece in one vinyl sheet. Just heat the vinyl up and stretch it way more than you are. By pulling it you can expand it in certain areas, allowing you to put it into concave spots
The 3M quality product is a little more forgiving when stretched than some other brands. Also, over stretching can damage the color or finish, particularly with metallic wraps for mat finishes.
@@chrisgraham2904 thanks for the heads up! I plan on wrapping in my bike, or painting it, still haven’t decided
Just my tips: start with the flatter easier surfaces. Save the tank or curbed surfaces for after you've made good progress.
If it's your first time, this will really save time and get you practice before you get to the tank.
I never really considered doing that to my bike. Now you have me thinking.
Pretty good vid. The only thing I would say differently would be. The part about doing it in pieces. I always try to do whatever i'm wrapping in one piece. Like on the fender, I could maybe see doing the horns separately. But the cool thing about vinyl is when you hit it with heat it will p much do whatever you want. Most of the time just rubbing it with your fingers will do the job. I try to use the heat gun as little as possible, till the end. It's a lot more work, but it looks better and is a lot easier to take care of after the fact. You don't have to worry about the seams too much if you say take it for a wash.
That’s what I posted, vinyl stretches way more and could easily do that in one piece, especially if he had a second person to hold it, giving him two hands free to pull and stretch the vinyl
Thanks for the tutorial. Thanks for showing how the cutting tape is used, which nobody else seems to show. I appreciate the information for wrapping smaller items or sections of a vehicle. I would probably never attempt a full vehicle wrap or even a hood, but wrapping is an excellent option for small feature pieces. I had two color painted pillars on my SUV that separate between glossy black tinted window panels. Wrapping the pillars in a gloss black vinyl looks very similar to the glass and gives the vehicle a "floating roof effect", now that the glass looks like it wraps around the back of the vehicle. I also had gloss black painted pillars between the glass of the front and back doors and on the driver side there was a small dent/dimple, which was very shallow, but just enough to catch the light to accent the dent. Filling the dent with spot putty was adequate to fill the dimple and wrapping over it made the dimple completely disappear without having to do bodywork and paint. The passenger side was also wrapped to match. The possible uses for wrap for vehicles and other items or equipment is only limited by the imagination.
Your content never disappoints thank you
Thank you so much. About to rewrap from flourecent yellow to a chrome holographic and I wish I would have known the front mud guard trick the 1st time. But knowledge is power and now I know!! Tyvm 😊
Thank you for the lesson and that Cutting tape is Awesome 👍👍
Again. Great content. Becoming my favorite channel!
A solid how to video on vinyl wrapping. Big like!
You make it seems so easy!
Surface Preparation always needed. Thanks to you Bro, from Malaysia. 👍🏽
Damn, i wanted to learn how to wrap my MT09 trim... and here you are, wrapping an MT09. Legend, thanks for the information!
Already one of my fav channels 💪
i‘m about to wrap my MT09, this comes in very handy🙏🏻🙌🏻
I am 3m preferred installer and own a shop. Well done. Not doing everything in one piece is the best way to go. Most shop done like doing bikes because of the time and the price that would have to be charged to the customer. High price job and time consuming.
Well done, love your channel 🤘🏽🤜🏽🤛🏽
the letter s hearts my ear with your micc
great explanation for beginners! I'll do mine soon!
Thank you for this video. I'll wrap my bike and use your video as a guide.
Great content as always 😁 thank you from 🇬🇧
The best tutorial ever! Cheers guys!
Thank you. Ive Watched many videos and yours was one of the few that were helpful. Cheers
This will come in handy. I do wonder if anyone’s wrapped a larger cruiser. Would be interesting to see if anyone has done that. Saved to a watch list for future reference 😊
Watching the video was so satisfying 👏🏻👌🏻

Great tutorial, this will be very helpful. Thank you!
Thanks for the video! I'm going to give it a try.
So helpful and awesome video bro. Thanks
Great and helpful video
You did a good job man I'm just starting this but I learned quite a bit from you especially about the cutting cape
Another excellent video ! Just found this and it's awesome. Wife and I installed a thick strip of Red 3M 1080 on my Tacoma hood (for small rock protection) and it's still holding up nicely ! Looking forward to using the 2080 to cover parts of a 2014 Yamaha Vino Classis project. Just something to think about, I've been using the smaller box cutters that use the one-sided sharp razor blades to cut amazingly well. The one-sized blades are much sharper than the utility knife blades, but they don't last as long. You could also just use the 'loose' one sided blades, but these give you something bigger to grip.
Super helpful👍🏻👍🏻
Good job! Thnx for the tips
Great video bro, going to apply on my adv 350 bike
Your videography skills are lit.
Great video man, keep it up
Great Video, very informative as I didn't know about cutting tape.Keep up doing the videos.

Thanks man. I will practice on my bicycle and helmets first

Informative❤
Nice Tips. Thx for uploading :-)
Yes bro great content 👌
Thanks for the tips. This will be my first wrap job and I’m a little nervous.
I think you need to attempt do a one piece wrap in the future. Nice video, as always! Cheers.
Customisation 🔥
Love from India 🇮🇳
Woow really cool
awesome, thanks!
The rear panel should be able to be wrapped with a single piece of vinyl, learning to stretch/shrink vinyl is tricky though ;-)
Apply soapy water to the sticky side to enable you to move it around on the surface, then wait for it to dry and do your heating.
Thank you for sharing
You are a good man 🤗
The key for wrapping is having some good beats!
It's a good advertisment saying not to do too biggest and hard pieces. I'll see on my bike soon. But I know myself, I surely try to expect my limits.
Thanks!
I probably will never have to practice this but this is interesting
thanks man.

Thanks for the video mate. Any chance you can post a video doing the rear mud gaurd?
Cheers from SA bro
I agree, however, plasti-dip spray is easier and the result is better (as in: less issues like bubbles, stretch or peeling). Also, depending on the thickness and type of damage, it can take more or less abuse. IMHO vinyl wins only if you want a texture. I wrapped my MT-07 in a "brushed metal black" and it looked sick! It did take me over 10 hours total, though. Same thing with spray takes up to 2 hours and you don't need to take anything off the bike.
Good one
THANK YOU SIR
Now I know how I’m customizing my ‘22 FXLRS
Seems to me this video is a great ad for painting?
Well great effort indeed 🌟💯👏 still the professionals doing it better so if it was my bike will take it straight to a garage

Great video. Is there any reason why you haven't upgraded your current mt09 handlebar to the protaper carmichael as you did previously with your old bike?
Phenomenal tutorial, better than 99%
Practise makes perfect “whoops”
Wish I new how to spell
I looked though your old videos and can't find where to get the boots you usually wear in your videos what brand are they ?
Hi legend, any tips to wraps the windshield on a GSXR
Did i miss you doing the tank?
Also can a blow drier be used instead of heat gun
Does the vinyl color's fade on long term? Like exposure to different weather?
I was thinking about painting my bike but this would be simpler and cleaner if I can find the color I'm looking for
