    This is awesome! I just bought a 86 Shadow and I think I'm going to go with either this color blue or a yellow. Something bright so I stand out on these crazy New Jersey roads.

      i bought a bright yellow helmut and gloves.

      Staying visible is definitely important! I also think nice loud pipes will help haha, much better than a horn. New Jersey drivers are crazy too, so I don’t blame you. I’m currently rebuilding the bobber and doing proper paint, pin striping, bars etc, gonna be sweet

      can you show a picture of the bike now... after almost of a year of you making this video please?

      Currently disassembled haha, and I have the tank and all panels stripped for paint but I’ll hopefully have the bike done in a few weeks

    looking to do my gas tank in my ninja 300 as i bought new fairings, would multiple colors mess anything up?

    • @OlsonAuto
      @OlsonAuto  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      How do you mean multiple colors? Like using more than one type of can of paint, or layering it onto other colors?

  • @Booki89

    Hows the paint holding up?

    • @OlsonAuto
      @OlsonAuto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It held up pretty well! I painted this bike pretty frequently and now I have actual paint instead of plasti dip (video on my channel for that), but the only thing that ever got to it was gas. Don’t spill gas on the dip and it’ll last.

  • @SpoopyJD
    @SpoopyJD 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How has the tank held up? I’ve heard plasti dip doesn’t do well with gasoline.

    • @OlsonAuto
      @OlsonAuto  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Stephen Hartley yeah, other than spilling gas on it, it’s perfect. The trick with the gas is to NOT wipe it off, let it evaporate. But yeah, it reacts very poorly with gas, so maybe carry a rag if you do this to put over the nozzle when you take it out of the tank

    • @jtbasic
      @jtbasic 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol it does not lol. Ii have had to re-dip my tank a few times due to gas spillage from refueling and from a shutting gas cap leaking when I got towed for a flat tire lol. Other than than its hold up well if you do slow smooth long coats, overlap by 50% and do a lot of thick coats

    Dupilicolor looks good. That blue is sharp.

    • @OlsonAuto
      @OlsonAuto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I loved the blue, was surprisingly nice! Moving onto a new color and rebuild of the bike once more so she'll be even sharper soon

      That's Awesome! Thinking of doing mine black, yellow, and white, with Batman decals lolol

      @jojomafia214 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Scared to hydro dip but I may even do that then add the decals and clear coat lol. The BatBike. Can't waitf to see what you do next! 😎👍

    • @OlsonAuto
      @OlsonAuto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jojomafia214 If you're considering plasti-dip as a paint option in my opinion, you might just be better off to use regular spray paint. Plastidip is cool but you can't spill gas on it, it wont look as good, and is honestly a pain to peel off

    Did u adjust the handle bars at all or is that how they came?

    • @OlsonAuto

      They’re at the same angle as they came. Totally stock bars, just spray painted

    ok! time for a 1 year update! how well did it hold up brother?

    • @OlsonAuto
      @OlsonAuto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Excluding me spilling gas on it, pretty well! I recently took the dip off and the original wrap so I can paint the bike my final color, going to be finishing it soon with a full revamp. But, the plasti dip held up great so long as you don’t get gas on it

      ok great. how long did you keep it on before you too it off? saving up to get my tank professionally pianted and my tank is bare metal right now. figured i could plastidip it just to protect it for a few weeks. i live in FL so humidity is a huge ordeal down here tank is starting to rust on me after 2 days in the elements

      @@69Gibbert69 4 would definitely be comfortable as long as the parts aren’t huge. You’ll usually want 5-6 coats to make removal as easy as possible

  • @MeisterSexy11

    When plasti dipping can you multiple layers that can peel off individually? For example: the bikes stock color is black, I can I put a red layer, then black so when I peel the black off I'll still have the black plasti dip on?

    • @OlsonAuto
      @OlsonAuto  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MeisterSexy11 probably not, I’d assume the layers sort of morph together over time. I haven’t tried, but I doubt it’d work

    Plastidip? You're using Duplicolor, not plastidip

    • @OlsonAuto
      @OlsonAuto  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Same exact thing. “Plastidip” gets more search results than “duplicolor peelable paint”, so I use it as an umbrella term. I prefer the duplicolor, but it’s the same process for plastidip too.
