Because the work in question still looks great. I spent most of the video saying positive things. I don't cover the episodes that look extremely rough from start to finish (8, 12, 14) because what's the point, but when an episode has plenty of good stuff and some rough edges, I cover/critique it.

Could def feel some of the issues with the flow and movement readability for certain exchanges, thats for sure. Tbh dont really care abt the draw inconsistencies as long as it moves nicely enough; plus i sort of liked the grotesque look of the fleshy background (altho the edges could blend a little better)... The void background at the end really did suck tho, and its kinda weird to see them regress to s1 levels when pretty much every background so far has been like 10x better than it minimum
I'm not that knowledgeable on corrections for blue ray releases but if anyone could answer this for me, just how much is able to be changed so that we get I guess essentially the closest to a finished product? I'm aware what we got is basically what's finished but when they go back in for corrections just how much can they change/add so that the blue ray release seems more polished?
There isn't any particular limit to what can be done in a blu-ray version. The ghosting and dimming will be removed ofc. They can just add more details, different sound designs and some minor corrections in drawings but it's also possible that they redraw whole cuts, alter character designs of several cuts, add more effects animation, change the colour palettes of different cuts, etc. But it's very rare to see major changes in blu-ray versions and I don't think we'll see many in the jjk's blu-ray version
Also they really should've given this episode more priority, like maybe they shouldn't have went all out on the sukuna fights and saved up time and talent for this episode
@@yungtux8770what is shit about it? Sukuna vs Jogo is mindless pointless shit fest for the sake of it. Mahito vs Yuji is the fight where the main character changes and defeats the villain who's done the most personal damage to him, who killed three of his friends. I don't know why episode 16 was such a priority over 21, honestly.
I honestly hated Yuji's power of friendship ass black flash at the end of the episode that destroyed Mahito. That's like something straight outta My Hero Academia where he draws out 200% of his strength just for a single blow.
Not a power of friendship, just him simply be able to launch 100% output of flashback and with the help of Todo's bluff, Mahito got tricked and caused Yuuji to hit him. If it weren't for Todo's bluff, Yuuji will most likely never hit him and eventually loses.
@@yup7380 In the previous episode, Todo hit Mahito with black flash while travelling at light speed and Mahito just shook it off. In this episode, Mahito got crazy strong armour that is harder than Choso's clotting ability and Yuji was able to one shot him and leave him crawling around all scared shitless. Yuji's power output just increased tenfold with seemingly no reason other than he mustered up 100% of his strength for that one blow. If that isn't a power of friendship ass blow, then I don't know what is.

I don't know the exact reason. But I think of how a flashbang hurts more than a constant source of strong light (becoz eyes can adjust). So the ghosted frames (blending into each other) will put less strain on eyes.
Due to Japanese regulations on TV broadcasting to prevent seizures, and yeah, JJK on this side is available through streaming services but this time the Streaming version is the same that TV because who knows...

The biggest downfall of Season 2 is consistency, always having different directors leading to some episodes being amazing and some sub par. The reason season 1 was superior in storyboarding & flow especially with action is because they had 1 director the whole way through. Mappa should of chosen 1 director for the season & focused all of the different talents into animation. Consistency is key for everything
Ehm.. season 2 also just had one director? And the season did focus all kinds of talents into animation, more than actually than season 1. And consistency is not the key to everything, diverse art styles and animation styles are way more fun and cool to look at imo.
Don't take it too much to heart, he is just trying his best to review it from a more objective lens. I know he sounds snobby, but that is the point of the channel; he is called "Probably Pretentious" for a reason. Lastly, he knows about the conditions
Guy sees perfectly fine backgrounds and be like "naaah, they actually bad" (nor referring to the 1st one, that one does indeed not blend well with the building)
Especially the backgrounds after Mahito transforms are really good. The city landscape seen from far and blending into the night sky really sets the mood well
also you do kinda stop takin him seriously for a moment when he says that "creating a 3D background and making the camera move through it is not that difficult"
It is indeed not that difficult for a professional 3d animator (compared to the 2D/3D blending aspect), the same way drawing a simple frame featuring a basic design probably isn't that difficult for a professional 2d animator. I never said making a GOOD 3d background wasn't difficult, I said making a background in general wasn't.

Because the work in question still looks great. I spent most of the video saying positive things. I don't cover the episodes that look extremely rough from start to finish (8, 12, 14) because what's the point, but when an episode has plenty of good stuff and some rough edges, I cover/critique it.
@@ProbablyPretentious I am not against your content bro, don't get me wrong. I am just baffled that you are aware of what's going on with these animators, yet you are critiquing their work and what's obvious, given the fact of what surrounds them already. Peace.
Bro why season 2 have less character detailings 😢😢😢 it feels like cartoon specially at the fight scenes !!
Where do you get all the unfinished work like the keyframes?
Love ur work man but idk how you liked the last ep w todo vs mahito underground but didn’t like the yuji vs mahito final form
This ep was waaaaaaaay better
Great video tho
I cant unsee that the human transfigured tendral thingys look like veggie straws. the colors are kinda goofy
Hayato kurosaki and kaito tomiyoka have been on some sung hoo park timing with the output they have been putting out.
thanks for another great informative breakdown !!
Are you going to do the finale ? Love your videos!
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed the similaroties with the Avant music video
3:45 hey! I noticed that too I found many references in the music video
Kinda worried about next ep, where [spoilers ahead]
They have to animate Uzumaki.
Well now that the ep is out they delivered big time also only 1 episode left and it's not action one so its safe to say the animators somehow made it to the end of the season and it's very impressive hats off to them
Could def feel some of the issues with the flow and movement readability for certain exchanges, thats for sure.
I know this would be absolutely impossible but I kinda wish they played skyfall at the scene with yuhi and Mahito
Also they really should've given this episode more priority, like maybe they shouldn't have went all out on the sukuna fights and saved up time and talent for this episode
@@Comicboy6758ok that’s a nuclear shit take. No offense, just thinking out loud immediately after reading it.
@@yungtux8770Skyfall one seemed good, but when he said focusing all their effort on this episode ? 💀💀💀
@@yungtux8770what is shit about it? Sukuna vs Jogo is mindless pointless shit fest for the sake of it. What a W episode that was
Thank you for the video.
I honestly hated Yuji's power of friendship ass black flash at the end of the episode that destroyed Mahito. That's like something straight outta My Hero Academia where he draws out 200% of his strength just for a single blow.
It's an anime... Its to be expected
@@benny399 It's not really to be expected from Jujutsu Kaisen. They don't rely on the "power of friendship" trope ever.
If that isn't a power of friendship ass blow, then I don't know what is.
ur dumb lol. Todo can’t hit his soul, yuji can. Yuji didn’t hit Mahito in his armor so it didn’t matter.
A letdown? No. There, you've click baited a comment out of me. You're welcome.
The taka scene was so good, added some much needed levity. Burst out laughing
What are corrections? Are they complete redraws of a drawing or just slight tweaks?
I think both statements are valid, sometimes is just minor details, sometimes a great portion is reworked.
This might be out of your content style, but I'm currently working on the 4th episode of my series, and I would like criticism from someone who knows what their talking abt 😂
Just from preview shots, i think next episode will match this or better, however the last episode will be quality.
I believe they would want to go out with a banger, Especially if they animate a highly anticipated's character
i expected more
but still
satisfied with the episode
More ?????
More????
More??
Yes. More. While it is very selfish to think this way knowing what the animators have been through, this is the finale... this is THE fight. It should have been more prioritized and I'm sure Manga readers, knowing the contents the episode would hold, expected Sukuna vs Mahoraga levels of flashiness. This episode pales in comparison to Yuji vs Choso, and that is not a good thing. BUT... it still looked good, had various highs and not lows but just okay cuts and the expectation for more and the troubles of not getting it is something one can take up with MAPPA'S DIRECTORS. The animators deserve no hate, they have done enough. My only wish going into this episode was that I was hoping it would have been animated beforehand (no time restraints) and had extended scenes like Sukuna v Jogo, Sukuna v Mahoraga and Yuji v Choso, and we can all tell the animators did not get that liberty. Mannn fuck MAPPA
@@dinosaurkarma9460"While it is very selfish"

Idk, criticizing animators who we know are struggling immensely for every single imperfect frame seems off
It's an animation breakdown for a reason.

Can someone please tell me why animation studios ghost certain scenes
Yeah I understand why they dim but not ghosting
I don't know the exact reason.
But I think of how a flashbang hurts more than a constant source of strong light (becoz eyes can adjust). So the ghosted frames (blending into each other) will put less strain on eyes.
Due to Japanese regulations on TV broadcasting to prevent seizures, and yeah, JJK on this side is available through streaming services but this time the Streaming version is the same that TV because who knows...

I agree, after the tranformation part is very underwhelming to me like its lacking something. Maybe because i saw too much reel with adelle audio.

Don’t even go there with “It was such a Letdown” knowing damn well they couldn’t possibly have done any better with the Mappa conditions.
He's being fair with the animation critizicing. He's not downplaying any of the animators work. Also knows pretty well their working conditions so no disrespect is intended either.
dont praise a work if it's not good. Just critique it for what it is. If people wouldn't be fucking blind like your comments suggests, the fandom would be much better.

The animations arent bad its just so unpolished and feels rushed and plain at times. It doesnt feel enjoyable to watch as the first season.
I thought it looked noticabley more polished than the mahoraga episode.
Hi
didn't really like this fight. the animation is perfect
but the fight didn't feel rushed or chaotic like Todo's last fight with Hanami

You have no right to criticize the animators who are dying to finish the show

@@benny399 why does that have to be the point? comes across as fucking stupid. super bad look tbh...
Guy sees perfectly fine backgrounds and be like "naaah, they actually bad"
(nor referring to the 1st one, that one does indeed not blend well with the building)
The backgrounds stood out to me in a bad way too
