  • 100 hours of training, 745 miles pounding the pavements… and it all comes down to one race. Brighton Marathon 2022 - 26.2 miles of sunshine and seaside on this gently ‘undulating’ marathon course. This is my second marathon and after a patchy start to the 18-week training block, have I done enough in the final few weeks to turn it around and run a sub-3 marathon again, and maybe even a PB? Let’s find out!

    Great run, and a good video of event, impressive you are still able to chat to camera at the pace you are running. I was near you at mile 10 and 11 but couldn't keep the pace up towards the end. Still happy with my own PB and as a you say a great marathon with excellent crowd support.

    Fantastic result, very well done. I'm glad you commented at the end that there were hills, having done it 3 times I was surprised that you kept saying that it was flat (second half yes). That undulation makes your finish time even more of a great result. You smashed it.

      Thanks Debbie 🙏 Still buzzing from the experience! It’s quite a strange course, there are a couple of pretty steep, short hills and then the rest and long and gentle - sometimes you don’t even realise you’re going up until you come back down it on the other side. But definitely not as flat as Manchester 😅 Thanks again for the kind words and support, it means a lot ☺️

    Great video. I'm running at Brighton in April 24. May I ask how cambered the roads were? I've heard there quite sloped in some sections. Was hoping to use Prime X shoes but worried that if I'm running on angles that will be a bit too unstable.

    I’ve done Brighton once and Manchester twice and am wondering which you prefer having also done both? There’s a clear superior one for me in terms of support, crowds and layout of course.

    • @TheVeganRunner
      @TheVeganRunner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s such a tough question! Manchester is flatter, the organisation is slightly better, crowds are great… Brighton, you’re running alongside the sea which I loved, the event village is a cool touch - adds a bit of hype and excitement around the race but it is hillier, and they use cups for water 😅 I’m still buzzing from a PB, can’t decide! Which did you go for?

    • @danthomasburton
      @danthomasburton 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheVeganRunner I just loved the crowd support all the way around in Manchester so it wins for me! Although that’s also probably because I just got my PB there too so it does colour it a bit. Brighton is such a cool city and the part just before halfway with the sea crashing on the left hand side is fantastic. I got bad dehydration from those cups, and the industrial section make it quite tough!
      Congrats on the PB, I’ll have to give Brighton another go some time!

    • @TheVeganRunner
      @TheVeganRunner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@danthomasburton Agree on the cups! At Manchester, I drank from most aid stations at Brighton I made sure to hit every one until the last 10K. After grabbing the cup, sloshing it about sometimes I’d be lucky to have a mouthful 😅 There’s got to be a better way. Crowds wise, there was only a couple of quiet spots at Brighton, about the same as when I ran Manchester.
