Don’t worry, just pace yourself, don’t get caught up in the event and start off too fast, it’s about pacing yourselves to your level at that point, it’s a decent distance so steady for your first one, you will then have a base to work on if you are up for the challenge again, most of all enjoy your run 🏃♀️
I've only ran 3 half marathons ( slowly) but loved each one so much I now find my training runs are getting longer an longer...this year I'm running the great Scottish 10k only because I haven't managed sub 60 at it yet an my plans are too do that this year then back too my halfs....great video Anna you were amazing!!..🏃🏃🏃❤xx
This Sunday I just ran my first ever race and it was a half marathon. I can certainly relate to the tears in the end. The finish line was just across the street from the hospital were 14 months before I was lying on a bed with a drain in my abdomen, recovering from a surgery. I had never ran a single kilometer in my life at that point. 14 months later, I was across the street lying on the grass, recovering from a half marathon . It was not my last race, that is for sure. Thank you The Running Channel too for being part of my journey and teaching, cheering and amusing me along the way. Congratulations Anna for another race!
Amazing! I hope to have this experience this year. Broke my ankle in 2 places while hiking in October 2018. I’ve never really been a runner but I want to do a 5k this year.
Si Mack I always get super hungry and dream of all the high calorie bad for me foods I want lol. Pizzas, bacon cheeseburgers and thick shakes are often what I say dream of.
Last April I ran my very first half marathon (as a 13 year old!). I was the youngest person in the race too! My goal was to get 2 hours, and I got 1:59:59 (that was my official time!)! I was so proud of myself. My coach trained me for 10 weeks (I think) and she also ran the race with me. Without her I wouldn't have been able to do it! The Running Channel is inspiring me to run another! Thank you so much! Good job Anna!
I ran my first half marathon as a 12 year old (I’m fourteen now) and ran a 1:31:01, it was a completely flat course though with only a few minor hills. I have yet to try another half marathon because of how terrifyingly painful it is. Hoping to do another soon. My dad is a former Boston Marathon runner so he helped me through the training a lot.
Moisty Butter Wow! That's crazy! Awesome job! Also congrats for your dad running in the Boston marathon! The course I ran on was VERY hilly. I also trained on a very hilly course. I want to do another half marathon just because now I know I'm capable of doing it. You should do another one! It's all worth it in the end, right? 😉😂
First marathon I finished I was in tears crossing the line, whispering "I'm a marathoner!" to myself. Next one, I crossed the line and barfed. So it goes.
I somehow cried after running a 3200 for track so I imagine running a much longer distance, (10k, Half Marathon, Marathon, etc.) would be super emotional, I’d be bawling
It havent happened to me yet, but i hope it will someday. I havent ran in months because of a clinical depression sucking my life out of me. I just want to get my life back and one day be able to finish a long endurance run to get myself proud.
Your thoughts are so positive the whole time! At about mile 9 mine turn to “wow, this sucks” “why am I doing this?” and “I hope my legs won’t give out”
I absolutely agree about "hold back". Going slower than I wanted was actually the best strategy, because I ended up with more at the end (well, at least *some* at the end!). Congratulations! Well run! And good time, too.
Fully agree with this! Seeing 800m which felt like more then a mile then seeing I was only just coming up to 400m. It got very busy with lots of people at that point for me.

With no hesitation, I asked one of the participants what they are participating in and he humbly explained to me the race, the distance, the challenges and how a big of an event it is! Today, after running and racing all sorts of distances (apart from a marathon; hopefully one!). I’m planning on becoming one of the participants in the 2023 great north run 🏃♂️
Last weekend was my third half marathon. I've cried at every one. The first one, I cried for the whole last mile because I did it and I couldn't believe it. It's the most amazing feeling. ❤
I split mine into one 5k at a time, just vision the thoughts of your best 5k runs in the past and keep that place, or if the wheels start to come off, think how you have finished your previous 5k runs when things were against you, I kept to this in Newcastle on Sunday and managed a great time dressed up a Batman, well done Anna for the finish
This has made me emotional! I have tears in my eyes. My half marathon is in over 3 weeks, my second attempt my first one took me over 4 hours and I was the last person to finish xx
I totally cried my eyes out at the end of my 1st half Marathon earlier this year. My best mate was also bawling for me, it was amazing and now Ive got Cardiff in a couple of weeks.
Excellent video! I done my first half this year and in 1h 55 too. I got so emotional too it's such a great feeling especially when I saw my wife and kids cheering me on!
I did my first half marathon on Saturday and I don't know what I was expecting or what I was training (I'd been basically building from COUCH in a year) the mental and emotional energy started to hit me at about mile 4 and I was fortunate enough to strike up a conversation with a woman who'd done the race before and was generous enough to stick with me for the rest of it when we re-entered the park getting to the finish line I forced out that last burst of energy hit the finish line and kinda collapsed for a second (finish time just over 3 hours but I FINISHED and that's enough for right now) After race thoughts: part of me wanted to never touch my running shoes again and a strange another part almost immediately started planning when I can get back out and improve for next time THANK YOU RUNNING CHANNEL for all the inspiration!!!
I'm normally very emotional but races make me so happy, I can't stop smiling at the finish line. I feel so lucky and content...its weird that I've never cried at the end🤣
I did my first half marathon in April and my second is three weeks away! This is exactly the kind of motivation I needed to carry on training. You've just reminded me exactly why we run the races. The crowds, the excitement and that feeling when finish! You're so lovely, congratulations x
I run my first half marathon in Brussels last Sunday. I am super excited my goal was sub 2 hours and I did 1:52:59. Thanks for your channel guys and for these inspiring videos. I would like to say to anyone out there "You can do it" and if you don't feel ready yet trust me the boost from the people cheering and clapping for you will push you through the finish line.
I cried watching this. You guys are an inspiration, truly. I'll start training for my first half marathon in about 3 weeks and theses videos are inspiring and very helpful.
Catching up on TRC videos and just now saw this. I ran my first half marathon earlier this month and it was an incredible experience. Lots of emotions, lots of tears, lots of pain, and 1000% worth it! Cannot wait to do it again!
You’re making me cry Anna 😭 I am doing my second half marathon this Saturday then my 1st marathon in October with Dublin City Marathon 2019. Thanks Running Channel for making light hearted running videos but informative. 🥰
For me it is quite relaxing that a great runner like Anna runs it in almost 2 hours.. makes me feel like I could do it one day as I'm exceptionally slow. Well done!!
I ran this for a charity and unfortunately re-aggravated an injury damaging my ankle ligaments about 2 miles in. I still finished but much slower and in a lot of pain. It was lovely to see someone else's journey and thoughts around the track since I barely remember it other than focusing on putting one foot in front of the other. Thank you and great inspiration for future events
I was definitely crying when I crossed the finish line too! Such an achievement and the support from spectators who lined EVERY part of the route was amazing too!
A fantastic video which mirrors my emotions when I ran it! An absolutely joyous first 3 miles and last mile - tricky around 4-6, and the support this year in particular throughout was just extraordinary. Makes me proud to be an adopted Geordie (lived here for 16 years).
Love the emotion. That's awesome. Well done on the run. Love seeing the stages we all experience during an event. Especially love the transition from "this is amazing!" in the early k's to "why do we do this?" a bit further on. :-)
I cried when you cried Anna!! Way to Go! I’m new to running . My first race will be an 8k in Philadelphia. I ran 5 miles the first time ever 2 days ago. I can’t believe I did that and I don’t know how anyone does a half marathon or full marathon. I hope one day to do a half marathon. One step at a time😊
Are you doing the 8k this November? It's a nice race!! I did that one and the full marathon....just have the half to knock out!! Congratulations on your achievement!! Hope to see you at a race soon!!
Wow! That is about the same time I took to finish my first and so far only half marathon. I was dying there in the last 4 miles and this lady is filming and talking casually through it. #Respect
Anna, this is fab. GNR 2019 was my first ever event & loved it. Started back in pink & so couldn't get into my usual pace but that meant I could relax and take it all in. Got to stop looking at all the photos/videos now & do some work. Amazing supporters/amazing runners & some amazing costumes!!
Such an amazing video. I might have cried watching it... Still buzzing from Sunday and this video is just exactly what I felt, including the tears in the end!
I got emotional too when you crossed the line! I can not wait to do this!!! Thanks for sharing this! I am planning on my 1st 13.1 within the next month or so.. Started running Aug 2020. Ran 11 miles 2 weeks ago trying to get ready..
A great wee video. Well done to get 1:55 and carrying a GoPro. thanks for sharing it. it’s a brilliant run, this was my 6th and I’ll be back next year.
i've been watching this channel for 6 months now for some tips in running, started my running journey in january this year to loss weight (lost 19kg from 87kg in january 2022 to 68kg currently). now i've become addicted to running and in 4 weeks 3 days, i will be participating in my 1st ever half marathon. Watching this video make me excited for my 1st ever race!!
I also ran it this year and it was my first ever half marathon. I was so scared before setting off but I absolutely loved it. Currently going through the GNR blues ☹️. Ended up signing up to a few more and hope they as amazing as last weekend. Well done Anna.
It really was. The support from the crowd is definitely what helped me through. This channel has helped me train for it so want to thank you for all the help.
Thanks a million to The Running channel. I completed my first Half-Marathon with success yesterday. this channel give me a load of tips and I used most of them, I'm sure you are part of my success, Cheers !
My first half marathon was about two weeks ago and I am pretty sure that i reached my absolute max pulse when they started the Countdown at the beginning
I just want to say THANK YOU! Thank you so much for all of your videos. I am so grateful I found this channel. I just completed my first half marathon on September 15th and it was INCREDIBLE! I finished at 1 hour and 50 minutes! I was in such a good mood and smiling the whole time. It was a big elevation climb but I kept repeating to myself exactly what you said “what goes up must come down”. Thank you so much for all of your hard work and dedication that goes into these videos. 💛
That's given my such great memories of beautiful spring races. Reminded me so much of my first half mara in Peterborough. We will get there again. Well done Anna!!
Well done Anna. Excellent race. Looked a lot of fun with a very enthusiastic supporting crowd. Have my next 1/2 marathon in a months time. The prospect is a bit scary!
Anna, I've binge watched all your videos in the last week as I'm on week 6 of marathon training. My goodness me, you make me so emotional & well up everything you're racing especially when you cry. I don't think I even get emotional on my runs & races so God knows why I feel so emotional watching you 😭. Anyway, thank you for all the tips & advice I've got from you so far x
First time doing the GNR and I was impressed. Couldn't believe how hot it was on the day, that got me towards the end. Weaving in and out of the crowds at the start hurt me as well. The crowds were immense and it certainly is a bucket list tick off. The Geordies are a friendly bunch!
@@runningchannel Great video. I know how you felt at the finishing line. Lots of thoughts go through your head at that point,I always give a shout to my Dad who passed away 4 years to cancer. That got me into running and I was fortunate to run the London Marathon for Cancer Research in memory of my father soon after. Haven't looked back since and now run 3-4 times per week.
I just found this channel and I love it. I have a love/hate relationship with running. I've done two half marathons before (both in Pittsburgh). I'm thinking of doing the full marathon this year. Your videos have been giving me some encouragement.
Really enjoyed this video, and well done Anna! I'm impressed you ran under 2 hours whilst having the breathe to commentate and film as you ran. I've only done 3 Half Marathons (so far) and have really enjoyed all of them. At the time it feels horrendous, especially as I'm always trying to go for a fast time, and I'm often just counting down the minutes until it's over. I find it all quite tough from Mile 4 to the end, but especially at Mile 10 when the finish is still far away. 2 of my Half Marathons have been my "home one" - the Southampton Half which I have enjoyed more because it can be a bit emotional recognising where you're running and some of the people cheering you on. Despite all the pain I still tell myself that a Half is my favourite distance to race and there's always a really good goodie bag and medal usually waiting afterwards!
As I watch this back everything you say is how I felt at every mile.. Thanks for this.. I even said to myself how many ice pops is too many! Well done on your time, that was my target time but I was unprepared for hills, need to do more training but was only my second half Marathon. Thanks again!
I did the Great North Run this year. My first half marathon and the longest run I've ever done. It was epic and I think I felt every emotion you did in the video. And it was hot! Great to relive it with you. I only started running after I dislocated my knee three years ago and decided to do the Great North Run to celebrate turning 40. So proud to have done it and what a memory!
When I ran my first half marathon, hit 5 miles and the only thing encouraging me was saying “you can walk next mile” and that repeated until the very end. After mile 10 it was a breeze. Those last three miles went by so fast I crossed it before I knew it.
I love your videos, they are so refreshing compared to the really serious type - that is not meant detrimentally. I've not been enjoying running of late, pace has slowed, feeling sluggish etc., but know how good it is for me so won't give up, you've reminded me it can also be fun and not to take it so seriously. I did my first half last year and you've inspired me to sign up for my next.Thank you.
I've just watched this for the umpteenth time 😂 I'm taking part in The Great North Run next week, first time, first half marathon, I'm so excited but so nervous, thank you for your inspiration Anna 👌
😂😂 I’ve learned that I should never try to do math in my head while running 🏃🏻 thank goodness for mile markers. Lol. And yes I bawled my eyes out at my 1st marathon finish. (I was 54 yrs old) the medics kept asking me if I was ok 😂 I just told them “tears of joy.....tears of joy”
I really love these mile by mile videos. I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for a half marathon next year. Its "only" another 8k compared to the longest I've run before, but it's still a daunting task. These videos are great motivation! Also, the auto captions are hilarious when you're winded. Apparently, you gained 34 pounds running up nutty hills :D
Watched this about 5 times now. GNR2019 was my first half marathon(pending better name) and I am definitely going back. In awe of anyone who can talk all the way round. Was 6ft of beardy emotional bloke at the end. The support on the last 2 or 3 miles is amazing. (PS - fuck the trolls, you and running channel videos are inspiring and amazing.)
I just went on my second run (ever) and I could only go about a third of a mile, just under half. A pretty lofty goal for me would be to someday be able to run a 5k
Woohoo! Honestly, you never know what'll happen. 8 months ago, I thought I could NEVER run farther than a 5k, yesterday I ran my first 12 miler. Keep your eyes on the 5k goal, and you might just want to keep going once you get there! Good luck!
I've watched this numerous times, as a booster/motivator when things aren't going so well (like when I was out for 7 weeks injured during lockdown) or just as ongoing inspiration - have never run a half marathon distance but it is still something I aspire to do one day, be it a virtual distance or 'actual' event. Cheers Anna & great going! 🏃♂️🙂
Awww well done Anna, getting all emosh at the end. I've got my first half marathon next month in Birmingham... I won't be filming it though I'll be dying!!
I can feel it! every breath you take I've run full, half, and 10k's. but nowadays, getting older.... heavier... and I am running again, you're giving me a lot of motivation. thanks.
This was my first Half Marathon and after subscribing to your channel and watching most of the videos it really helped with technique. Mile 11 was hard known as the Nook by locals and my legs just became heavy. if i'd known Anna was running i would have congratulated her personally for helping me through this journey.
Awesome work Anna - blogging and managed sub 2hrs! Looking to do my first half marathon this year. Just found this channel and love the videos. Good mix of humor and motivation for the average runner - keep it up!
Well done , this year was the 6th time I've done the great north run and still find it an amazing day and experience. Roll on next year 🏅🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️
@@hannahmorgan7213 How hot does it gets there? There's parts of Australia I've been where the humidity is so high it's like swimming and other parts where it's a dry heat that get up to 124°f regularly in summer.
@@smally8499234 that's fair. In Alabama it usually hovers at 90 percent humidity in the spring, summer and fall, then drops to 70ish. Temperatures range from 20° F in the winter to 100° F in summer. I have never been to Australia, I underestimated how hot it could get there.
Very inspiring. I give you a lot of props for running while filming using that energy you couldve used instead towards your run. I'm glad I came across this video as I'm in the process of training for my 1st half marathon in april 2020. God Bless You.
I just did my 3rd half on Sunday.... Saturday we had a category 1 hurricane come through, Sunday was 40kph winds (headwind for the last 4.5k) and 70kph gusts... but I set a pb by over 6 minutes. At 10k I was thinking, "god I have to do that again" at 16k I was thinking "just another 5k" and for the last 1k I was thinking "I hate this bl**dy wind". for my 1st half I was also very emotional coming to the end. The organizers had set up a huge video screen at the 12 mile mark so when you ran over the chip timer they played a video that your family recorded the day before. Many tears there and more when I finished.
That just made me cry. I ran that race too, with my dad and it was unbelievable. I doubt it will happen this year but I am still training. Just in case. It was so emotional to run. The people make it amazing.
What do you think about when you’re running a half marathon? Or maybe you haven’t run one yet and this video’s given you an idea of what it’s like? 👇
I have my first half marathon coming up in a few weeks and Anna triggered me. I don't want to be a blubbering mess at the end of it but I suspect...😂

Well Done Daniel! You are an inspiration to the rest of us!!!
Amazing! I hope to have this experience this year. Broke my ankle in 2 places while hiking in October 2018. I’ve never really been a runner but I want to do a 5k this year.
@Daniel Duclos
Blimey that's a contrast. Well done!!!
My most common thoughts when running a half are "why do I keep doing this" and "How long til I can stuff my face" 😁😁😁
Haha! You’re definitely not alone there Si!
Agreed. Just ran the Chicago half this past Sunday in the rain... kept thinking of coffee and eggs, and a hot bath LOL
Si Mack I always get super hungry and dream of all the high calorie bad for me foods I want lol. Pizzas, bacon cheeseburgers and thick shakes are often what I say dream of.
Post race doughnuts are a must...
Those are the two mantras that are commonly taught in most Buddhist temples!
sub 2 hours and chatting on the way round! amazing
Thanks for watching! 🙌
Not only chatting but also stopping to thank the doggies for the cheering
lol is only 2 hour not really professional at all I bet I would struggle on it I run 5.5 mile at 7 mph past still out of shape kinda breathing
not too bad trying to get fit
The dogs deserve a thanks, Daniel! Haha (Anna)

Great plan! And well done on finishing your race 🙌
I do this its just 4 and a bit park runs or 11 junior park runs!
Excellent! I will be trying this this weekend when I run my first half in a while.
This has made me emotional! I have tears in my eyes. My half marathon is in over 3 weeks, my second attempt my first one took me over 4 hours and I was the last person to finish xx
You’ll be awesome!
Watching this in March 2021, and all I can think is look at all those people, together, breathing heavily, happy days ❤️
I would definitely run more races if ice pops were provided!
The ice pops were a saviour for sure, Rachael! haha (Anna)

I'm in this. Who cares that it's just for one second at 8:39!! Life is now complete 😉🏃

Thanks so much James. I really enjoy filming them!
One of the great unsolved questions of running... "How many icepops is too many icepops?"
Still to be confirmed 😂
when you puke, that is 1 too many
Oh my, we don't get ice pops in NZ. That would be too good to resist.
Amazing! Good luck with it! And thanks so much for watching 🙌
Good luck in the Dublin Marathon, I'll be doing the cork one in June as my first :)
For me it is quite relaxing that a great runner like Anna runs it in almost 2 hours.. makes me feel like I could do it one day as I'm exceptionally slow. Well done!!
It’s not about the time you do, it’s about the time you have 🙌
@@runningchannel Well said :)
Oh no! Hope you’re better now?
I was definitely crying when I crossed the finish line too! Such an achievement and the support from spectators who lined EVERY part of the route was amazing too!
Well done Anna!
Thank you Dan!
A fantastic video which mirrors my emotions when I ran it! An absolutely joyous first 3 miles and last mile - tricky around 4-6, and the support this year in particular throughout was just extraordinary. Makes me proud to be an adopted Geordie (lived here for 16 years).
Thanks for watching Andy. The Geordies certainly do look after their guests 👌
Love the emotion. That's awesome. Well done on the run. Love seeing the stages we all experience during an event. Especially love the transition from "this is amazing!" in the early k's to "why do we do this?" a bit further on. :-)
It was incredibly overwhelming and an absolute privilege to be amongst the 57,000 who ran
I cried when you cried Anna!! Way to
Go! I’m new to running . My first race will be an 8k in Philadelphia. I ran 5 miles the first time ever 2 days ago. I can’t believe I did that and I don’t know how anyone does a half marathon or full marathon. I hope one day to do a half marathon. One step at a time😊
Well done. That’s awesome progress!
#Respect
Finish lines, not finish times! 🙌
Thanks Lorna! Glad you had a great day too 🙌 It really is very special at the GNR
Such an amazing video. I might have cried watching it... Still buzzing from Sunday and this video is just exactly what I felt, including the tears in the end!
Thanks so much Cindy 🙌
These thought mile by mile videos are great, thanks! 🙏
That's exactly what I say at mile 10. One parkrun to go. 😀
Ice pops! 😍
SO many ice pops! They were a welcome relief on what was a pretty warm day! Thanks for watching 🙌
A great wee video 😂
i've been watching this channel for 6 months now for some tips in running, started my running journey in january this year to loss weight (lost 19kg from 87kg in january 2022 to 68kg currently). now i've become addicted to running and in 4 weeks 3 days, i will be participating in my 1st ever half marathon. Watching this video make me excited for my 1st ever race!!
This reminds me of my first 21K race many years ago. Many beautiful memories. Thank you so much.
Thanks for watching 🙌 (Anna)
‘’Thank you,
Great North Run for being epic.” That says it all, Anna. ❤️
🙌
just signed up for this next year! My first ever race and half marathon and im soooooo excited! Great video :D
Brilliant! You'll love it! Good luck with the training - we've got loads of tips in our other videos on running half marathons for you to check out
Inspiring. And what a lovely person Anna is.
I also ran it this year and it was my first ever half marathon. I was so scared before setting off but I absolutely loved it. Currently going through the GNR blues ☹️. Ended up signing up to a few more and hope they as amazing as last weekend. Well done Anna.
Well done on your first ever half Carla! It was a great day wasn’t it?
It really was. The support from the crowd is definitely what helped me through. This channel has helped me train for it so want to thank you for all the help.
Ahh that’s amazing Carla! So glad we could help. Hope you’ve got something else booked in to get over those GNR blues
That atmosphere seems phenomenal, what a fantastic race. Great job, and thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching 🙌The crowds were great!
I shout out "only a parkrun to go" at 10 miles too. Also sing "oh, oh, half-way there" at halfway and this year received the proper response.
Livin' on a prayer!
@@runningchannel Woah, livin' on a prayer
Take my hand, we'll make it I swear
Woah, livin' on a prayer
I just want to say THANK YOU! Thank you so much for all of your videos. I am so grateful I found this channel. I just completed my first half marathon on September 15th and it was INCREDIBLE! I finished at 1 hour and 50 minutes! I was in such a good mood and smiling the whole time. It was a big elevation climb but I kept repeating to myself exactly what you said “what goes up must come down”. Thank you so much for all of your hard work and dedication that goes into these videos. 💛
Amazing. Thank you so much for watching us!
5:37 not sure I would've had that beer either!!! Lovely thought but not exactly what you need!
That's given my such great memories of beautiful spring races. Reminded me so much of my first half mara in Peterborough. We will get there again. Well done Anna!!
Thanks so much Woody! And yes - we'll get there again very soon :-)
Well done Anna. Excellent race. Looked a lot of fun with a very enthusiastic supporting crowd. Have my next 1/2 marathon in a months time. The prospect is a bit scary!
It really was great! Good luck with your race!
Isn’t it a fab race? A little warm on Sunday for sure
Love the video . I did it myself for the fourth time . I love the people who keep you going the whole way through. Looking forward to next year 👍🏻
I just found this channel and I love it. I have a love/hate relationship with running. I've done two half marathons before (both in Pittsburgh). I'm thinking of doing the full marathon this year. Your videos have been giving me some encouragement.
I also love that you stop and pet all the doggies that you see. I would do the same!
Thank you! Thanks so much for watching 🙌 Half marathons are a great distance - they’re challenging and rewarding
As I watch this back everything you say is how I felt at every mile.. Thanks for this.. I even said to myself how many ice pops is too many! Well done on your time, that was my target time but I was unprepared for hills, need to do more training but was only my second half Marathon. Thanks again!
Haha! So many ice pops!! Those hills are a killer! Haha
Excellent Anna GNR is fantastic. Every runner ought to do it at least once.
Completely agree!
Tears of joy are the best types of tears
My favourite bit was just after climbing the steep hill at mile 11 and seeing South Shields sea, what a view!
Amazing view! Shame the Red Arrows were otherwise engaged this year - that is a pretty awesome sight
Good luck with your training!
Sorry about the auto captions!
We've added the ACTUAL captions on now, so no more gaining 34 pounds up those nutty hills 😂
@@runningchannel oh, they are just on by default - they gave me a good chuckle :D
You can do it 🏃♂️👍
Go for it I ran this race it was amazing my first official half marathon you only hurts for a couple of days afterwards
Amazing being able to pull that off carrying a camera! 🚀🚀
Thanks! It was a lot of fun 🙌
YEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS Anna! I LOVE these mile by mile videos! Whoever started dishing out the ice poles.......legend!! 💕 well done you!
Thank you Loz! I LOVE making them!! The ice pops are a Great North Run stalwart. Long may the tradition continue!!
I just went on my second run (ever) and I could only go about a third of a mile, just under half. A pretty lofty goal for me would be to someday be able to run a 5k
Keep going & keep enjoying it!
I have to ask, have you continued your progress? Where are you now?
Thank you so much! Glad it gives you motivation!
Awww well done Anna, getting all emosh at the end. I've got my first half marathon next month in Birmingham... I won't be filming it though I'll be dying!!
Good luck in Birmingham Andrew!
I can feel it! every breath you take
I've run full, half, and 10k's. but nowadays, getting older.... heavier...
and I am running again, you're giving me a lot of motivation. thanks.
I was there! Amazing race, loved it. Didn't see you though, too many people. Glad you had a good run :)
Great stuff! Glad you had a great run
Thanks for sharing. From New Castle, NY, USA, to Newcastle, England, cheers for a fantastic run! Nice time too!
Thanks for watching Julia!
She completed it sub 2 hrs and that too while making a video!! #Genius
Haha! Thanks! (Anna)
This was my first Half Marathon and after subscribing to your channel and watching most of the videos it really helped with technique. Mile 11 was hard known as the Nook by locals and my legs just became heavy. if i'd known Anna was running i would have congratulated her personally for helping me through this journey.
Congratulations! Mile 11 is a tough one for sure
Amazing. Inspiring. and you stop for dogs. :)
It’s very important :)
Well done Anna! You are an inspiration. A big THANK YOU from Southern California. 😎
I have my first half marathon ever coming up next month so this should help 😂
Awesome work Anna - blogging and managed sub 2hrs! Looking to do my first half marathon this year. Just found this channel and love the videos. Good mix of humor and motivation for the average runner - keep it up!
Ah I saw you filming the intro. So glad I found the video. Spotted me in the red bandana in the background at 0:09
😎
That’s what I say to myself when going up a hill. “What goes up must come down”. It really helps me mentally with the steep challenging hills
Well done Anna 👌Newcastle massive.
Thanks! 👌🙏
Well done , this year was the 6th time I've done the great north run and still find it an amazing day and experience.
Roll on next year 🏅🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️
Congrats John! And thanks for watching 🙌
I love watching this from my comfy bed:)
Haha!
Going to run my first half marathon this month end in Chicago...very excited and scared:) Thanks Anna...love your channel!
Awesome! You’ll have a great time. Good luck!
Amazing , I’m gonna do my first half marathon next two days in preparation for my spartan beast race, wish me luck hehe
Super!! Good luck!
Haha I loved the banter in this! And the dogs! Well done Anna, you smashed it!!! 👊
Thanks so much ☺️
'everyone talks about the weather when running'
Runs in England
Haha, yup we love talking about the weather in the uk 🙈
They complain about running in the "heat," laughs in Australian.
@@smally8499234 Try running in ALABAMA
Wow! That sounds incredible. Congrats Kevin 🙌
That just made me cry. I ran that race too, with my dad and it was unbelievable. I doubt it will happen this year but I am still training. Just in case. It was so emotional to run. The people make it amazing.
Such an incredible race. Thanks for watching, and good luck with training!
