- After dropping Savannah up I had to turn around and get back to MJX to get the plane back home. We run into some phraseology confusion, and a pilot being sassed by ATC about IFR vs VFR altitudes!
I just started my journey to eventually get my PPL. Right now my goal is to immerse myself in content to understand terminology and process of flying in this area as I live right under the EWR Bravo shelf. Your videos have been very helpful in this!
I'm Glad I can help!!
Really enjoyed watching. Neg on PPL, enthusiast from the sidelines at the moment. Was watching Airforceproud95 and caught your cameo and exemplary performance on ATC. Look forward to following you here, excellent work.
Great video! I was surprised to see that ATC was accommodating. I want to try our flying to EWR or PHL one day. I don't have much experience at large airports (biggest was KACY) as a 90-hr PPL so flying with an experienced CFI would be a good idea.
I was like, why do I know this face ?
Then it clicked.
We need some more ATC videos joe
Awesome Vid, thanks for sharing your experiences- keep them coming
yeah i agree with the commenters here, approved as requested is pretty vague and approved on course is much better phraseology - i would have gotten on the radio faster and said "verify approved on course" or something of the like but it got resolved soon enough
Another excellent video.
nice video ! keep doing this kind of content
As a non-US pilot, what does the book say regarding the correct terminology for this situation? I couldn't understand that 'approved as requested' either and in any case it seems like a vague clearance open to misinterpretation. Don't even judge this as a mistake on your part to be honest.
ive never heard approach control say approved as requested and then expect the pilot to turn - ive heard "on course approved" as the most common phraseology
@@AustinWirlI’ve heard it but only in vatsim, really useful when you’re a bit busy and you don’t need a full readback or want the pilot to do something faster.
I’m
new on vatsim and love the content.
To be fair the choice of terminology by different flight controllers varies.
Approved does not me proceed.
He fixed that choice the second time making it clearer to please turn now.
I wouldn't blame either of you. Just the choice of wording ATC used.
Try JFK next lol!
