Huge character arc when you realize, the further you get into the game after Arthur's diagnosis, he gives money away more and more. He knows he's dying and he wants to help people however he can, but still denies being a good man. Everyone thinks Arthur Morgan is a good man except for Arthur Morgan. In the end, he dies fighting to give his friend a chance to start over.

Micah always chose the easy way, betraying others and killing others to survive. He had no problem doing these things to anyone anywhere.
Dutch was a manipulative, narcissistic moron who crumbled down when people began questioning him, and when he's watching Arthur die on the mountain, he realises he f*cked up.
But instead of apologising, he lefts Arthur there to die, and it takes him nearly 7-8 years to try and take revenge for what he did.

The fact that Arthur doesn't know himself is so true. Every time he has the opportunity to help someone, he does it, yet he calls himself a bad man, he calls himself ugly, but if you groom him right, he might be the most handsome man in all the 4 states of the game. He thinks he's simple and dumb but when you look at his journals and his drafting skills, he has an artistic sensibility that no one else in the gang seems to possess.

He is probably a smart and talented person with a bright future yet its sad with the amount of self deprecation he does to himself it really makes him relatable that the amount of low self esteem you have for yourself will also make you soon realized the amount of credit you could've given to yourself either though its sad most of the time that other people make you realize it better than yourself. One very understated part of this scene I really like is how when Arthur says he has TB, Sister doesn't flinch. She doesn't move away from him, doesn't hold her breath, doesn't even blink or change her expression. From this you can tell she's used to being around the sick and dying. Not only that, she doesn't judge him when he admits to manslaughter. She may be the most truly Christian character I've ever seen in a video game. Like Arthur, I'm not much for belief myself, but I like Sister Calderon. She reminds me of my grandmother.

    I will say it.
Arthur is the best written video game character of all time.
I know people like John, but they wrote Arthur with so much more depth.
The way he says things when random enounters happen like a woman judging Arthur for killing her husband and the way he says sorry is just so hard hitting. I love this character and I will never stop crying at chapter 6. I played it 12 times and I still cry at the end. But nothing was like the first time.
This game is effecting me in rl on a level like nothing else in video games, shows or movies. It actually makes me think how I can be a better human.

I don't think he ever truly cared about Arthur, because once Arthur starts to realize Dutch's insanity and questions Dutch even a little bit, he straight up calls Arthur a traitor and that he isn't believing in Dutch and his ideals anymore. It's obvious he only liked Arthur because of his blind loyalty. Dutch doesn't want loyalty, he wants blind loyalty, which is why as soon as Arthur began doubting and questioning Dutch on Guarma, he replaced him with Micah in the snap of a finger, even though Arthur has been in the gang the longest out of everyone, and Micah has only been with them a few months and is very clearly untrustworthy and dangerous. If he really cared about Arthur, he would've been checking up on him about his sickness and mental well being, but he never even acknowledges it, and when he does for one time near the end of the game, he doesn't give Arthur an emotional speech about life like Sister did, and instead focuses on his own needs and desires, which is to be admired like God.

But I continue to hope for the best and try to be optimistic in the hope that things will improve someday! When I'm feeling down or sad, I remember the few good times I've had, which makes me happy! Arthur’s words reveal deep regret, sadness, and fear about the life he has led, his past actions, and the consequences of those actions.
Regret and guilt: Arthur admits to living a bad life, marked by violence and poor decisions. He feels guilt for the consequences of his actions, such as contracting TB and losing the people he loved. His remorse is evident in the way he recounts these events.
Loss and loneliness: Arthur has experienced significant loss, including the death of his mother, father, son, and the end of a loving relationship. These losses contribute to his feelings of isolation and despair, as he has no one left to turn to for support.
Fear of the unknown: Arthur admits that he still doesn't believe in anything, suggesting a lack of faith or spiritual grounding. This lack of belief leaves him uncertain about what comes next, especially in the face of his own mortality. His fear likely stems from the unknown nature of what awaits him after death and the potential consequences of the life he has led.
Desire for redemption: Arthur’s words imply a desire for redemption, even though he may not explicitly express it. By acknowledging his past mistakes and admitting his fear, he's showing a willingness to confront the truth about his life. This vulnerability may be a first step toward seeking forgiveness, redemption

I had a friend that absolutely loved this game that unfortunately passed away 2019. His name was Mason Roland. Mason was born with a rare kidney disease called cystonosis and he didn’t have much time to live around the time this game came out. He loved the game though and he grew to love Arthur as we all did. Unfortunately he died before finishing the game. Before he died he actually got into the story mode like really deep, I think he was around the part where hosea and Lenny die in the bank robbery. But anyways, I always wanted him to get to this part so he could understand that even a video game character shares his pain deeply, because I think my best friends biggest problem was knowing he was gonna die. Idk I just wanted him to not feel alone in his situation. And I know that there’s a huge difference there between reality and video games but the message is R* sent just hit me different every time I see this scene. I love you Mason I know you watching over me at all times.

The problem with the scene is that what the nun did, from a christian and biblical perspective is the same as you seeing a drowning man and istead of tossing him a rope, you let him drown with a smile.
While I understand why people like it, it is highly deseptive. What she should have done was give the example of the criminal that was crusified with Jesus. Despite his crimes, he chose to believe and was saved at the last moment.
The message this scene teaches is that you can save yourself with a good deed, which is not true and any christian can tell you this. If she was any other person I would be ok with what she said, but a nun not mentioning Jesus's name, not even once, to a dying man that is clearly repentant. The message is deeply deceptive, it's 99% truth and 1% lie, the best kind of lie.

@@thickac7579 this game isn’t about religion, that would water down the message they’re trying to deliver. this is about facing your inevitable end and choosing to do your best to leave this world a better place than when you found it. it’s much a bigger picture than one man’s battle with faith, which isn’t even really a theme in the games narrative. also arthur had already expressed to the sister that he isn’t a man of strong belief, so to have her harp on about jesus would be a huge waste of this character moment
