No, it's not like everyone trust Micah. As for Dutch. It was the peak moment that broke his mind completely. - The division between Arthur vs Micah. - He confused about which one of them to trust, his loyal gunslinger or the one that have "same vision" with him. - John, one of "his sons" suddenly appears and blames for leaving him to die. - Pinkerton, their nemesis arrives. - Micah shots Grimshaw, it broke a code. But Dutch has it all in his mind, that's why he stick with his ideal. To escape, since at that moment before Arthur arrive, they had all the money they need and already packing. "Who's with me and who's betray me?" Would be and easiest question to ask in a confusing and critical moment like that. I would do the same thing if I was in Dutch's position. They don't have time to think, they don't have time to find out. As with that question asked, Dutch points his guns to both Arthur and Micah. He slowly walks towards more open space, to escape of course. Micah is smart, he only sees Dutch needs loyal dogs. Henceforth he aims his guns to Arthur and walks slowly towards Dutch. Dutch only see that as Micah was on "his side". As for Bill and Javier. It's all matter of positions. They're always loyal to Dutch and that time they need to pick sides of course they will stick to Dutch. And that time, Micah was already close to Dutch side. If only after arrived at the camp, Arthur stick with them to escape. Just to escape and make Plan how to bust Micah or even kill him. I think Dutch will be on his side at some moment.

For Javier and Bill, I can imagine that Bill just cares about chances of winning and for Javier, he dedicated his life to Dutch and his ideas. Pointing his gun against him would harm his principles, but he does not hate John and Arthur, he might even be sad about all that, because in this cutscene he seems very nervous, if he's thinking about who is right.

Javier was one of my favriote characters in RDR2 because of his loyality. I don't think he went with Dutch because he was more loyal towards him than he was towards Arthur. He went with Dutch because he had no clue what was going on, he came on screen after Arthur said Micah was a rat, he proably never heard, he simply didn't know what was fully going on.
That being said I don't who he would have sided with. Arthur remarks how Javier is one of the most loyal in the gang. So in that respect he could have went with Dutch. But I think he would have sided with Arthur because Arthur wasn't against Dutch in that last scene, no he was against Micah. Javier seemed to have regret in red dead redemption 1 in leaving John behind and if he knew that Dutch just left him behind because of a selfish reason I think he would have seen how broken the gang was, he would have seen that Micah was the cause of all of this and how damaged the man he looked up to. My thoughts, my theory.

Maître Obi-Wan Kenobi pretty sure Hosea had TB or Bronchitis which was a big deal back then. There’s times at camp where he can’t stop coughing at Clements point and at horseshoe overlook too maybe twice. At one point he couldn’t stop coughing in Clemens point and Lenny told him to sit down and Hosea talked about death and how he’s not doing well. Then Lenny and Hosea have a conversation at some point in the midst of chapter 3 and Lenny talks about if Hosea is scared of death. I think his time was coming to an end.
What an honourable man, John, sticking by Arthur's side even when it's the losing side. He knew in the end Arthur was the one who really cared about him the way Dutch only pretended to.
If yall didn’t know, Arthur’s health is a reflection of the gang. As his health deteriorates, so does the Gang. He was the heart and soul of the gang, and it died along with him.
What makes me feel better is how everyone still gets to have a happy ending (at the end of RDR2 at least lol) because of Arthur's sacrifice. Arthur's fought to save the girls, and they all got to live their lives. Arthur fought for John, Abigail and Jack, and they got to live their lives (shh shh let's not talk about RDR1 yet lol). Watching RDR2 on its own, everyone whom Arthur gave his life for, thrive and find happiness because of his sacrifice. It makes it worth it, and it reflects perfectly on Sister Calderon's words. Take a bet on love, believe that love is still out there and that it's worth it.

@EseChava 22 Bill fell from grace for long before the game. He was dismissed from the army. He was loyal to Dutch, but since Arthur and John were amongst the best gang members to Dutch, he viewed them as rivals. Not a friendly rivalry, I tell you. And then Dutch abandoning the gang as well, leaving him disappointed and he went on to create his own gang as we know in RDR. I don't remember what happen to Javier, probably seeing John working for Ross and hunting Bill down pisses him the fuck off. Javier was still the same man, I reckon.
If they do make a DLC, I hope it’s of Bill and Javier unsure what to make of Dutch anymore after the gang broke up. Then the two left Dutch to start anew. We can say the two were hired to work for Allende but Bill chose to stay in the US. As a sign of their friendship, Javier promised Bill a place he can stay should he go to Mexico. Javier did jobs for Allende and in return, Allende promised to take in and protect Bill should he end up in Mexico.
Susan needs more recognition, she was one of the only people who had the courage and bravery to not only talk back to Micah and Dutch. But also defend and side with Arthur and John even it meant her sacrificing her life

The speed at which Arthur drew his gun in response to Micah drawing his is incredible, especially at this stage where he’s on the brink of death. Micah wouldn’t stand a chance against him at the beginning. He even struggles in both of the final encounters where they fight it out.

Arthur: “Bill, Javier-think! Think for yourselves!” In a way, Bill and Javier actually listened to Arthur’s advice in the same way that John did. Those two, even though they sided with Dutch in this showdown, only did so because of their loyalty, fear, and confusion. They ended up abandoning Dutch shortly after this, and Micah was the only one who stayed. Arthur Morgan truly influenced every aspect of RDR1, even though that game mentions him not once.
If you look closely at the end, Javier points his gun to the sky instead of at Arthur because even the voice actor was against his character going fully against him.
The real reason Javier didn’t point his gun was because the voice actor who mentioned in a panel was told to aim it at Arthur to which he replied that he couldn’t, he was his brother and said if he could change one thing about the game that it would be having Javier stand with Arthur

2:40 Damn. Arthur is so cold with that pistol. Notice how his draw is so much quicker than everyone else in this scene. AND he’s in the late stages of his sickness, but yet he drew on Micah faster than grease lighting. Unfortunately, we never get to see the abilities of the Callander boys, but Arthur was the best gun Dutch ever had as far as I can tell. And what is so annoying to me is the fact that if Micah got his revolver up first, he would’ve most certainly shot Arthur. And I just have a hard time believing that if Arthur shot Micah at any point in the game that Dutch would’ve tried to kill Arthur, regardless of how annoyed he got with him and John. Because at the end of the day, Micah isn’t family to Dutch. Just another gun. For example, you never hear Dutch call Micah “son” at any point in the game. He even calls John son, even though he fucks him over so many times. And if you disagree with that point, I’ll just say this: you can still love someone and misuse them. But anyway, back to the Micah thing.. Every time I see this part, I just scream into the tv: JUST SHOOT THE BASTARD ARTHUR.

You know.. RDR1 made Javier and Bill seem like the worst possible people to know. But in truth, they were just scared. They didn’t even have anything to do with leaving John to die. It was all Dutch. The only thing Bill and Javier really did was side with Dutch and Micah instead of Arthur and John because they were scared.

I can see it from a different perspective. Seeing as how both Arthur and John come back to camp with Pinkerton following them Javier and Bill can be blinded by their loyalty to Dutch by thinking that both John and Arthur ratted on them upon the return which is why they took so long. Dutch is between a rock and a hard place having so many heists go wrong, so many people dead, and the fact that his long time companions are slipping away in his mind makes him turn away from his original vision and side with the real rat until it's too late.
Steven Yim sir I disagree solely for one reason, Dutch could’ve been listened to Arthur, Hosea even told him he was doing wrong. If a man that I’ve been friends with for 20 years says he needs to be out the gang, if a man who had my back for 20 years said 6 months ain’t enough to trust Micah. Then I’m not listening to Micah, Dutch listened to Micah and kept thinking about money when Arthur and Hosea both said that some of the jobs weren’t gonna work and they was making too many enemy’s. Solid Paras Makes sense why Javier acted like that towards Arthur, John and Charles.He was probably just trying to keep the group together especially when it’s already a really hard time as it is.And I believe John was knocked out when he fell off the train and Dutch and/or Micah told Bill and Javier he’s dead, hence why Bill’s surprised and Javier confused.

In a random encounter, Bill asks Arthur to get him hair pomade, to which the two of them were both awkward about it. Usage of Hair pomade back then was considered far too feminine for a man and was used as a lubricant for homosexual activities. This could explain as to why Arthur tells Bill to never mention it again, which is the first time we see him do this is those random fetch favors. Another this that points to Bill being gay is how he is around Kieran. Flustered, strange, a touch too friendly. He also mentions how upset he was that Kieran was killed. Pretty gay to me. Also, we've never see him have any sort of connection with the women of the camp. The rapist is Lakay would probably not tell Bill that he raped Arthur and would lie and tell Bill that they had a great time. Bill, probably maybe being gay, would without a doubt be excited because there was finally someone within the camp that is also homosexual. Perhaps so the two can do their respective activities or just talk about it like to gay bros do. And also, when Arthur tells him to screw off, Bill puts his hands up and is fine with being told off because he too understands the embarrassment and shame of being a gay man in the late 1800s. I don't think Bill was being an intentional dick, he just didn't know and thought he found a gay homie to gush about man booty with.

The really sad part about all this is that Arthur, even after everything thats gone down, still goes back to warn Dutch. He was truly loyal till the end, and even though you can see in Dutch's eyes that he believes Arthur, he's too far gone to come back from it. Such a great story, better than most movies nowadays, and really captures the feeling of trying to hold on to something thats already lost. In this instance it was the freedom that these outlaws had throughout the years that was slowly being ripped out from under them because of the industrialization of the country. Damn.....

I reckon Micah shot her because he knew that out of anyone she'd probably be the first to pull the trigger, seeing as how quickly she decided to kill Molly after she falsely confessed to being the betrayer.
It sucks because Arthur is not siding against Dutch, he's siding with John, but because Dutch left John for dead, John is siding against Dutch. It's really interesting to look at how each side panned out, Arthur couldn't side with Dutch over John so the creep Micah does
Dutch sided with Micah more than he did anyone in the gang. -Broke Micah out of Jail -left Arthur for dead -left John for dead -told Arthur not to rescue Abigail If anything, Dutch was the real snake. It baffled me why Arthur continued to side with him afterwards and didn’t shoot micah after he shot susan. Arthur went out caring about others more than he did himself. That led to his demise.
2:39 Micah reaches for his gun, Arthur pulls onto his in the a tenth of a second upon seeing this. He wasn't even healthy or in his prime here and he was able to do this. He was definitely faster than John at that point or the Epilogue, but John by the time of Red Dead Redemption 1 is a motherfucking beast who doesn't take shit from Landon Ricketts and singlehandedly won a revolution. They were likely evenly skilled if John wasn't even more skilled at that point.

The bit where everyone slowly walks over to their side in the end with John and Arthur being the only ones left whilst Arthur tries too convince Bill and Javier is really heartbreaking
Don't know if you'll comment again but Javier was really on Arthur's side, but he was still loyal to dutch. He never shot or pointed a gun at arthur, he just held it above his head.
If it brings you some consolation you should know John Marston eventually killed every last one of the men present in that shot one by one. Avenging Arthur in the process
What's sad is that many people would have done what Javier would have done in this scenario by hesitatingly lower the gun or aim the gun in the air. You're going to trust the person you knew longer but still wouldn't want to fight people you're close with.
I like how Micah says to Dutch “ be practical now” appealing to a materialistic and numerical mindset about time, money, and supplies. While Arthur says “Think” appealing to reason, logic, and the emotional side of Dutch.
What a storyline, they kind of developed a student and teacher in a way with Morgan and Marston. It all makes sense now why John did what he did in the first game this scene revealed it all.
Marston went after his old gang because his family was taken, not because he was betrayed. Otherwise he wouldn't be living at home as a family man, whereas he would've been chasing them for a long time. Although it does contribute a bit, but it was mostly for his family. John did however go kill Micah to avenge Arthur with Sadie and Charles.
Za Storm also this game makes John's death even more impactful in my eyes. Arthur used his last moments on Earth to help him escape in the hopes of John getting out of the life. only to have Ross drag him back in to hunt down the old gang members and then shoot you down with a firing squad.
Early on in the game i loved dutch, he is such a charismatic character and very well written but towards the end i realises dutch doesnt care about loyalty, just your loyalty to him. Loyalty doesnt go both ways in Dutch’s book
He only cared about the people being loyal to him not to each other. IMO thats also the reason, why micah was able to influence dutch in the first place
Bill's actually a tragic character,in my eyes. Throughout red dead redemption 2 it seems he always longing for acceptance from the rest of the gang rather of just being tolerated because he was good at being a killer. Perhaps if John or Arthur had been more sympathetic and kind to Bill he may of sided with them in this confrontation. I also think Javier would've followed Bill as we see in the epilogue neither Bill or Javier sticks with Dutch or Micah rather going there own path. It really would of been interesting to see how that would've played out as Dutch and Micah would've been outnumbered
I'd go further and say if Arthur had been a bit more accepting of Micah early on things might have been different. I'm noticing lately the overtures Micah made to Arthur early in the game, he says things like "we're brothers and we need to look after each other" and Arthur always dismisses him because he doesn't trust him. Maybe Arthur was right to do so, or maybe Micah might have been a different character had he felt Arthur cared about him? Who knows? That's just great writing, Hollywood should take note.
@@anon17472 Micah treated Arthur nicely early in the game because he was afraid of him; he knew that Arthur could literally obliterate him if he wanted to. Notice how Micah only started being mean to Arthur soon after TB started weakening him.
The tone Micah says "That's a god damn lie" shows me he is thinking "so what if I did? Who's gonna believe you" Amazing how rockstar made Micah one of the most hated fictional characters
It would require New Vegas level choice and branching storylines, and given how detailed the world is I get why they didnt do that and stuck to one story line, but that would be the one thing that would have sealed RDR2 as the best game ever imo. Given total freedom like that I wouldnt have confronted Micah openly the way Arthur did, I know there was limited time since the Pinkertons were hot on your heels, but personally Id have keep my cards close, and just gone straight up behind him and took him out, plus his two buddys who would hostile immediately. Dutch may not have been pleased but I think once it was done, thered have been no time to discuss it. Especially since the Pinkies turned up right after. Better to ask forgiveness than permision.

I love how John came and knew Dutch left him to die in the robbery, it destroyed the relationship he once had with Dutch and is just so damn well executed. In RDR 1 we just heard it from Martson himself but actually witnessing it just makes it more heartbreaking. It can be said for the whole story but even though we knew what was coming it didn't make it any easier when we got there. The tale of the gang's downfall and Marston's redemption is honestly my favorite western story.

I came back to realize that Micah drew both revolvers from his holster as he was trying to convince Dutch to side with him, I noticed he only pointed one at Arthur, that made me realize that if Dutch had sided with Arthur, Micah would’ve shot Dutch in a heartbeat like he did to Susan, I believe Dutch also noticed this and wasn’t taking any chances hence siding with Micah
One thing to keep in mind however is that once Dutch drew his guns and started walking Micah was aiming both of his at Arthur and John, If Dutch truly would have sided with Micah he would have shot him then and there with the clear shot. Then again he probably took Cletus and Joe into consideration since they would go against anybody Micah went against

I'd like a red dead about young Arthur, there's 20 years of story they could do prior to rdr2 which would show Dutch as Arthurs father figure making the rdr2 storyline even worse. We could find out what happened in blackwater with the woman and why the ferry was so quickly overun by pinkertons
I remember playing Red Dead Redemption when it first came out. One of my top 5 favorite games of all time. Replayed a dozen times. I, and many others, waited almost 10 years to see this John/Dutch interaction at 2:50 Chills. Absolute chills. What a story

Javier's voice actor said he thought Javier would still see Arthur and Dutch as family. Like in the first RDR he runs instead of shooting at you like bill does, so he asked to have Javier not point his gun at John and Arthur

The ending for this game was amazing. It was sad true, but so much happened in just a few minutes, the end of the gang, Arthur’s death, how John was betrayed, what led to the end of the gang, who Dutch really was, and how Arthur stuck with John in this situation. It’s been so long since a story mode was done right I’m so lucky to have played this game, I hope that online will be as lit as the story was👌. Hope to see everyone out there
TheRealAnthony after playing Witcher 3 I really didn’t think anything else would come close but this game blew me away. I was so sick of the same GTA style gameplay Rockstar completely revamped everything. I’m on chapter 3 still with like 50 hours already haha.
So many games in the past years seemed to put most of their energy into multiplayer with endless microtransactions while putting out a ho hum storymode just to say they had a single player. Rockstar did it right by first concentrating on an epic single player story before multiplayer. and such a compelling story it is.

If you notice, Javier lifts his pistol when everyone is taking sides. He doesn't aim at Arthur or John because he still views Arthur as his brother and is conflicted. He doesn't want the gang to split and he doesn't want to kill Arthur or John. This was confirmed by the actor behind Javier who apparently had to fight for that action to be in the game since it was addlibbed by him during the motion capture.
Sorry to disappoint you, but he doe in fact aim at them. At 4:09 right before the pinketons start shooting you can see him pointing his gun at them. It just took him a long time.

I love Micah's voice actor. The way he extends certain words is pretty funny. And Micah is such a good antagonist. Makes me wonder what rdr2 wouldn't been like if Micah replaced Colm and played a bigger part.
It’s such a deep story looking back to RDR1 seeing how much the gang changed Dutch actually cared for who died and everyone’s safety now he doesn’t even care his true colors came out he ain’t the same man that put a blanket over Sadie or wanted to rescue John
It’s sad to think Hosea, Sean, Lenny and Charles all would have sided with Arthur here in a heart beat.

To be fair I think they trusted him more out of fear him killing them too. Once the law showed up they pretty quickly all abandoned dutch and micah.

As for Dutch. It was the peak moment that broke his mind completely.
- The division between Arthur vs Micah.
- He confused about which one of them to trust, his loyal gunslinger or the one that have "same vision" with him.
- John, one of "his sons" suddenly appears and blames for leaving him to die.
- Pinkerton, their nemesis arrives.
- Micah shots Grimshaw, it broke a code.
But Dutch has it all in his mind, that's why he stick with his ideal. To escape, since at that moment before Arthur arrive, they had all the money they need and already packing.

Would be and easiest question to ask in a confusing and critical moment like that.
I would do the same thing if I was in Dutch's position. They don't have time to think, they don't have time to find out.
As with that question asked, Dutch points his guns to both Arthur and Micah.
He slowly walks towards more open space, to escape of course.
Micah is smart, he only sees Dutch needs loyal dogs.
Henceforth he aims his guns to Arthur and walks slowly towards Dutch.
Dutch only see that as Micah was on "his side".
As for Bill and Javier.
It's all matter of positions.
They're always loyal to Dutch and that time they need to pick sides of course they will stick to Dutch.
And that time, Micah was already close to Dutch side.
If only after arrived at the camp, Arthur stick with them to escape.
Just to escape and make Plan how to bust Micah or even kill him.

For Javier and Bill, I can imagine that Bill just cares about chances of winning and for Javier, he dedicated his life to Dutch and his ideas. Pointing his gun against him would harm his principles, but he does not hate John and Arthur, he might even be sad about all that, because in this cutscene he seems very nervous, if he's thinking about who is right.

Javier was one of my favriote characters in RDR2 because of his loyality. I don't think he went with Dutch because he was more loyal towards him than he was towards Arthur. He went with Dutch because he had no clue what was going on, he came on screen after Arthur said Micah was a rat, he proably never heard, he simply didn't know what was fully going on.
That being said I don't who he would have sided with. Arthur remarks how Javier is one of the most loyal in the gang. So in that respect he could have went with Dutch. But I think he would have sided with Arthur because Arthur wasn't against Dutch in that last scene, no he was against Micah. Javier seemed to have regret in red dead redemption 1 in leaving John behind and if he knew that Dutch just left him behind because of a selfish reason I think he would have seen how broken the gang was, he would have seen that Micah was the cause of all of this and how damaged the man he looked up to. My thoughts, my theory.

Maître Obi-Wan Kenobi pretty sure Hosea had TB or Bronchitis which was a big deal back then. There’s times at camp where he can’t stop coughing at Clements point and at horseshoe overlook too maybe twice. At one point he couldn’t stop coughing in Clemens point and Lenny told him to sit down and Hosea talked about death and how he’s not doing well. Then Lenny and Hosea have a conversation at some point in the midst of chapter 3 and Lenny talks about if Hosea is scared of death. I think his time was coming to an end.
And because he hit his head and micah's manipulation
What an honourable man, John, sticking by Arthur's side even when it's the losing side. He knew in the end Arthur was the one who really cared about him the way Dutch only pretended to.
Dutch did care, just he was manipulated this point.
That and Dutch just left him to die. But I doubt he wouldn't do the exact same thing regardless of that.

What makes me feel better is how everyone still gets to have a happy ending (at the end of RDR2 at least lol) because of Arthur's sacrifice. Arthur's fought to save the girls, and they all got to live their lives. Arthur fought for John, Abigail and Jack, and they got to live their lives (shh shh let's not talk about RDR1 yet lol). Watching RDR2 on its own, everyone whom Arthur gave his life for, thrive and find happiness because of his sacrifice. It makes it worth it, and it reflects perfectly on Sister Calderon's words. Take a bet on love, believe that love is still out there and that it's worth it.

He was dismissed from the army. He was loyal to Dutch, but since Arthur and John were amongst the best gang members to Dutch, he viewed them as rivals. Not a friendly rivalry, I tell you. And then Dutch abandoning the gang as well, leaving him disappointed and he went on to create his own gang as we know in RDR.
I don't remember what happen to Javier, probably seeing John working for Ross and hunting Bill down pisses him the fuck off. Javier was still the same man, I reckon.

If they do make a DLC, I hope it’s of Bill and Javier unsure what to make of Dutch anymore after the gang broke up. Then the two left Dutch to start anew. We can say the two were hired to work for Allende but Bill chose to stay in the US. As a sign of their friendship, Javier promised Bill a place he can stay should he go to Mexico. Javier did jobs for Allende and in return, Allende promised to take in and protect Bill should he end up in Mexico.
Susan needs more recognition, she was one of the only people who had the courage and bravery to not only talk back to Micah and Dutch. But also defend and side with Arthur and John even it meant her sacrificing her life

The speed at which Arthur drew his gun in response to Micah drawing his is incredible, especially at this stage where he’s on the brink of death. Micah wouldn’t stand a chance against him at the beginning. He even struggles in both of the final encounters where they fight it out.

In a way, Bill and Javier actually listened to Arthur’s advice in the same way that John did. Those two, even though they sided with Dutch in this showdown, only did so because of their loyalty, fear, and confusion. They ended up abandoning Dutch shortly after this, and Micah was the only one who stayed.
Arthur Morgan truly influenced every aspect of RDR1, even though that game mentions him not once.
Beige it just goes to show you how incredibly well written these stories are. they fit perfectly together as an original and a prequel
If you look closely at the end, Javier points his gun to the sky instead of at Arthur because even the voice actor was against his character going fully against him.

2:40 Damn. Arthur is so cold with that pistol. Notice how his draw is so much quicker than everyone else in this scene. AND he’s in the late stages of his sickness, but yet he drew on Micah faster than grease lighting. Unfortunately, we never get to see the abilities of the Callander boys, but Arthur was the best gun Dutch ever had as far as I can tell.
And what is so annoying to me is the fact that if Micah got his revolver up first, he would’ve most certainly shot Arthur. And I just have a hard time believing that if Arthur shot Micah at any point in the game that Dutch would’ve tried to kill Arthur, regardless of how annoyed he got with him and John. Because at the end of the day, Micah isn’t family to Dutch. Just another gun. For example, you never hear Dutch call Micah “son” at any point in the game. He even calls John son, even though he fucks him over so many times. And if you disagree with that point, I’ll just say this: you can still love someone and misuse them. But anyway, back to the Micah thing.. Every time I see this part, I just scream into the tv: JUST SHOOT THE BASTARD ARTHUR.

You know.. RDR1 made Javier and Bill seem like the worst possible people to know. But in truth, they were just scared. They didn’t even have anything to do with leaving John to die. It was all Dutch. The only thing Bill and Javier really did was side with Dutch and Micah instead of Arthur and John because they were scared.

I can see it from a different perspective. Seeing as how both Arthur and John come back to camp with Pinkerton following them Javier and Bill can be blinded by their loyalty to Dutch by thinking that both John and Arthur ratted on them upon the return which is why they took so long. Dutch is between a rock and a hard place having so many heists go wrong, so many people dead, and the fact that his long time companions are slipping away in his mind makes him turn away from his original vision and side with the real rat until it's too late.
Steven Yim sir I disagree solely for one reason, Dutch could’ve been listened to Arthur, Hosea even told him he was doing wrong. If a man that I’ve been friends with for 20 years says he needs to be out the gang, if a man who had my back for 20 years said 6 months ain’t enough to trust Micah. Then I’m not listening to Micah, Dutch listened to Micah and kept thinking about money when Arthur and Hosea both said that some of the jobs weren’t gonna work and they was making too many enemy’s. Dutch doesn’t get sympathy, hell he left John and Arthur to die.

The really sad part about all this is that Arthur, even after everything thats gone down, still goes back to warn Dutch. He was truly loyal till the end, and even though you can see in Dutch's eyes that he believes Arthur, he's too far gone to come back from it. Such a great story, better than most movies nowadays, and really captures the feeling of trying to hold on to something thats already lost. In this instance it was the freedom that these outlaws had throughout the years that was slowly being ripped out from under them because of the industrialization of the country. Damn.....

What a storyline, they kind of developed a student and teacher in a way with Morgan and Marston. It all makes sense now why John did what he did in the first game this scene revealed it all.

Marston went after his old gang because his family was taken, not because he was betrayed. Otherwise he wouldn't be living at home as a family man, whereas he would've been chasing them for a long time. Although it does contribute a bit, but it was mostly for his family. John did however go kill Micah to avenge Arthur with Sadie and Charles.
Za Storm also this game makes John's death even more impactful in my eyes. Arthur used his last moments on Earth to help him escape in the hopes of John getting out of the life. only to have Ross drag him back in to hunt down the old gang members and then shoot you down with a firing squad.

Throughout red dead redemption 2 it seems he always longing for acceptance from the rest of the gang rather of just being tolerated because he was good at being a killer. Perhaps if John or Arthur had been more sympathetic and kind to Bill he may of sided with them in this confrontation. I also think Javier would've followed Bill as we see in the epilogue neither Bill or Javier sticks with Dutch or Micah rather going there own path. It really would of been interesting to see how that would've played out as Dutch and Micah would've been outnumbered

I'd go further and say if Arthur had been a bit more accepting of Micah early on things might have been different. I'm noticing lately the overtures Micah made to Arthur early in the game, he says things like "we're brothers and we need to look after each other" and Arthur always dismisses him because he doesn't trust him. Maybe Arthur was right to do so, or maybe Micah might have been a different character had he felt Arthur cared about him? Who knows? That's just great writing, Hollywood should take note.

Given total freedom like that I wouldnt have confronted Micah openly the way Arthur did, I know there was limited time since the Pinkertons were hot on your heels, but personally Id have keep my cards close, and just gone straight up behind him and took him out, plus his two buddys who would hostile immediately.
Dutch may not have been pleased but I think once it was done, thered have been no time to discuss it. Especially since the Pinkies turned up right after.

I love how John came and knew Dutch left him to die in the robbery, it destroyed the relationship he once had with Dutch and is just so damn well executed. In RDR 1 we just heard it from Martson himself but actually witnessing it just makes it more heartbreaking. It can be said for the whole story but even though we knew what was coming it didn't make it any easier when we got there. The tale of the gang's downfall and Marston's redemption is honestly my favorite western story.

I came back to realize that Micah drew both revolvers from his holster as he was trying to convince Dutch to side with him, I noticed he only pointed one at Arthur, that made me realize that if Dutch had sided with Arthur, Micah would’ve shot Dutch in a heartbeat like he did to Susan, I believe Dutch also noticed this and wasn’t taking any chances hence siding with Micah

I like how dutch belives the guy whos been hanging around with the gang for about 6 months while not believing the one whos been there for years, but then again at the end it didnt matter anyway.
Saren Linetech incorrect. He didn’t have a choice. He knew Arthur was right but John has sided with Arthur n started exposing dutch, so Dutch couldn’t wid Arthur due to John. Therefore he sided with Micah instead to avoid the consequences
Not to mention the ones he raised, the old guard, Seriously the original gang was Dutch, Hosea, John and Arthur - the big four.
Once that guitar riff hits when Micah and Arthur draw, I smile. The soundtrack for this game just adds so much more to an already great game

3:01 i find it interesting that in rdr1 in a dialogue between Dutch and John John says "i dont have a choice" and Dutch repliea with "we always have a choice, you are just too blind to see"
if you look carefully you will see that javier didn't point on arthur and john with his gun he only raised his gun to the sky

anyone realise how during the standoff javier didn't aim his gun at arthur and instead in the air
if you pause at exactly the moment when the camera switches from Arthur and John (when the agent yells "put your guns down"), you will see that Javier is aiming at them too
Javier's voice actor said he thought Javier would still see Arthur and Dutch as family. Like in the first RDR he runs instead of shooting at you like bill does, so he asked to have Javier not point his gun at John and Arthur

@@angel_fruit4197No, there would be. Dutch stopped listening to Hosea a while back. Hosea might be the leader of the draw instead of Dutch in which Arthur and John would side with him.
The ending for this game was amazing. It was sad true, but so much happened in just a few minutes, the end of the gang, Arthur’s death, how John was betrayed, what led to the end of the gang, who Dutch really was, and how Arthur stuck with John in this situation. It’s been so long since a story mode was done right I’m so lucky to have played this game, I hope that online will be as lit as the story was👌. Hope to see everyone out there
TheRealAnthony after playing Witcher 3 I really didn’t think anything else would come close but this game blew me away. I was so sick of the same GTA style gameplay Rockstar completely revamped everything. I’m on chapter 3 still with like 50 hours already haha.
So many games in the past years seemed to put most of their energy into multiplayer with endless microtransactions while putting out a ho hum storymode just to say they had a single player. Rockstar did it right by first concentrating on an epic single player story before multiplayer. and such a compelling story it is.

If you notice, Javier lifts his pistol when everyone is taking sides. He doesn't aim at Arthur or John because he still views Arthur as his brother and is conflicted. He doesn't want the gang to split and he doesn't want to kill Arthur or John. This was confirmed by the actor behind Javier who apparently had to fight for that action to be in the game since it was addlibbed by him during the motion capture.
Sorry to disappoint you, but he doe in fact aim at them. At 4:09 right before the pinketons start shooting you can see him pointing his gun at them. It just took him a long time.
@@bignick2k215 looked like he was turning to me, I can definitely see him lower the gun but I think it’s because a Pinkerton just shot at him so he turned and lowered the gun so he could shoot him if he was behind him
@@professorflop8557you can see him slowly accepting the fact he needs to aim his gun at John and Arthur. You can see him slowly lower his sights towards them just before the pinkertons arrive.
At the end of the day, Javier was the only one visibly shaken by the thought of having to kill his brothers, so nobody is wrong when they say Javier was good towards his brothers
@@lordogordo9407 might be right idk, but the actor did say he intentionally didn’t aim the gun at them, so that’s where I sorta figured he just lowered it when they started getting shot at to avoid being in an awkward position, but you’re probably right.
I love Micah's voice actor. The way he extends certain words is pretty funny. And Micah is such a good antagonist. Makes me wonder what rdr2 wouldn't been like if Micah replaced Colm and played a bigger part.

It’s such a deep story looking back to RDR1 seeing how much the gang changed Dutch actually cared for who died and everyone’s safety now he doesn’t even care his true colors came out he ain’t the same man that put a blanket over Sadie or wanted to rescue John
