actually love your reactions because you pause when I don't realise I need a pause and having someone else feel All The Things as well is very helpful in processing the all the damn emotions that music makes me feel
Hat guy is Sam Pope and I’ve become a huge fan of his. He is not only an amazing vocalist, but if you check out the Wellermen videos, he is a helluvan actor as well (I always love people who act the song). The ginger guy (beard) is Jonny Stewart-he has quite a range. And you probably saw Luke Taylor on American Idol. Peter thinks he should sing opera. I agree. LOL. Did you notice the Bass Gang (save Bobby) are all in red, and the Wellermen (save Bobby) are all in blue, and Bobby is in purple? LOL. The bagpipes are a nice touch. I’m always there for well-played bagpipes. (Played badly, they sound like a bag of drowning cats.) Great reaction as always, Mortius! Love the pirate getup!
Watching you genuinely helps me process and get more out of these songs. They're so well done and packed with goodies, I can't possibly find all of them. You pause and notice many of them, plus you express exactly how I feel about the piece. Words are optional for ND communication :)
This was sooo much fun to see Mortius! I agree! This cover is so enjoyable! They have done full versions of 3 of songs from Home Free's "Sea Shanty Medley." This one, "The Wellermen" (of course) and "Drunken Sailor." Highly recommend you check out all of them. ❤
Thank you! This is my second favorite sea song. My absolute favorite is the hound + the fox original A Whistling Lad with the Wolf (Adam Chance). It’s haunting and soothing, stunning!
I think its a folk song rather than a shanty, but one of my all time favorites is a lesser known one called 'Lies An Lurrighan'. ('lies' is pronounced leesh or lees) Its an old Scottish song. My favorite version is done by a group called 'Scatter The Mud'.
This video popped up in my recommended, and I have to thank you for reminding me that it's a moral imperative that I buy this mp3 now that I have some spare cash kicking around. Also, your enthusiasm is both infectious and adorable, I'm subscribing to your channel.
Hi Mortius, I would like to introduce you into the rabbithole of the German Shanty-Rock band Santiano. Take a look at Santiano´s songs like "Bully In The Ally" Shanty Version, "Doggerland" (a sunken part of land in the northern sea centuries ago), "Mädchen von Haithabu" (Girl from Haithabu), "Kinder des Kolumbus" (Children of Columbus) ... and may more. Some songs from Santiano are in English and some in German but when you love music the langauge is second important... 🤘⚓⛵🌎
Idk if you're still reading these comments 2 weeks later, but if you want some more pirate music to listen to on your offtime, id HIGHLY suggest the band Captain Bogg and Salty. They were a kinda kids alternative rock band like 10 years ago and they have some awesome covers of typical pirate songs, covers of not related songs at all, and some spectacular originals. My favorites are Scallywag, Part of Your World (yes it's that song, sung by pirates), and emphatical piratical, which they actually wrote off the basis of a letter i wrote them, which they credit in the beginning! I really think they'd be right up your alley!
This was such a cool re-imagining of the song - I would never have thought of this arrangement but I love it! I agree with you Mortius, I just had my life changed 😅
The song sounds like the sound track to an epic fictional music video celebrating Santiana's life, mourning his death, then the fierce spirit of his comrades rising up in his name. In the Harbor, fellow captains and sailors lined the pier, heads bowed, hats over hearts in mourning. *bagpipes begin* As the funeral barge passed one captain begun to sing, the song of Santiana now dead, fighting General Taylor. He looked down at the doubloon clutched in his fist, given to him by Santiana years ago when but a cabin boy. Other voices joined his, as more seamen recalled his legend and companionship. The chorus rose, now a determined battle-cry instead of a funeral dirge as emotions swelled and courage grew as men boarded their ships, hell-bent on vengeance. *scene cut* Cannons thundered and smoke billowed around General Taylor's ship as it raced for for an escape from the ambush. Hundreds of seemingly unaffiliated ships caught his armada unaware off the shores of Mexico. The open gap was suddenly blocked by an ship. The general didn't recognize the captain, but paled when he saw the name, new and gleaming across its stern. "The Santiana" (head canon, not historically accurate XD)
Great job on the outfit! Just finished up a cloak for ren faire this year myself to go with my tunic from last year. And I'm sure I'm not the only to let you know but, even if you don't react to more of their stuff here (though I'd love it if you do!) if you like listening to shanties for getting into character, their album is one you should definitely check out!
If you like shanties, may I suggest pretty much any song from The Longest Johns? They do both covers and original songs. For fun and funny I'd suggest Moby Duck or Hoist Up the Thing, for shanty/folk I'd suggest Oak & Ash and Thorn or Bones in the Ocean. They have so many but I feel like you'd like those ones especially!
Prior to this edition, my favorite full edition of _Santiana_ is the one by Colm McGuinness, but *GODDAYUM.* I think it is safe to say that Mortius was _not_ Prepared~😆🦁🤣
Your reaction video came up in my recommended, and somehow I'd missed the original (I'm subbed to your channel and theirs). Immediately paused this to go watch the original, and yeah it broke me pretty good. Came back here to watch it break you, and was not disappointed. Jeez they're good.
"Go away Starburst, we don't care about you right now. I just had my life changed!" - Mortius, 2023
I wish I could like this video more than once. It's my comfort watch right now. Not only is the song gorgeous but your reactions are gold.
OMG, same here. This video always improves my mood.
I love shanties, I love Wellermen, I love the Bass Gang, I love bagpipes, and I love Mortius' reactions!
Great job on your costume.
Bagpipes have absolutely no business in a shantey. Fiddle, yes. (And I love bagpipes). Yet, somehow it works.
Also Peter in full operatic voice is enough to make me melt onto the floor kthanxbye
Hahahaha, same

I loved when he took his hat off for the song, extra special!
Sam Pope deserves much more appreciation

that shirt could use a cravat. Seriously a neckband ties proper would sell the pirate look.
Based on a true story.
I love sea shanties, and this video is great! Mortius, your happy, astonished reaction is infectious. Thank you!
Thank YOU for your view and your words!

Great reaction!!! So much fun 😃
Bag pipes!
“Let’s go, Beard Man!”
😂😂
Your excitement makes me feel validated, been listening to this on repeat (like, ONLY this song) while working for 2 days 😂😂
Tell me you're neurodivergent without telling me you're neurodivergent 😁
The Wellermen have some powerful tenors along with basses. They actually have a self-titled full album of shanties, too.
Mortius you are such a beautiful bean. You energy and positivity is infectious and you bring light to my day!
I've been waiting for your reaction to this! When the bag pipes came it....your reaction was everything I had hoped for!!!
Oooh that costume! Kudos and have fun (hope you had fun, depending)
Thoroughly enjoyed everything (also kudos Mason) thank you
Nice touch in this video ( and I am not sure if this is intenitional) : Bobby wears blue like the wellermen but a simple shirt like the bass gang :)
Heads up, by the way. You are not ready for the new voiceplay song. You might wanna sit down for this one. it's a *big* one.
This was such a cool re-imagining of the song - I would never have thought of this arrangement but I love it! I agree with you Mortius, I just had my life changed 😅
Thank you so much for such a great reaction.

I loved so many of your reactions throughout this video, reprimanding Peter for his transformative powers is a clear favourite though 😂😂
If you ever need more material, The Longest Johns are my favorite sea shanty group. I think you would enjoy hoist up the thing.
Wow, fabulous reaction, I giggled out loud when you put your face on the 'wall' and giggled again when you told starburst to go away.
Another fun reaction! Great work!
You mean you just had your life changed in Mexico I’m sorry I had to
LOVED YOUR REACTION! This was a great cover!!! ❤

Listening to this without the video was a treat. I had no idea the Peter was going full opera mode. My reaction was pretty much the same 😂
Seldom seen you that speechless at the end Mortius,😅.
Prior to this edition, my favorite full edition of _Santiana_ is the one by Colm McGuinness, but *GODDAYUM.*
I think it is safe to say that Mortius was _not_ Prepared~😆🦁🤣
Ooooh...part of the infamous Treasure Planet tattoo revealed to us?
When did SAMI ZAYNE join Wellerman?!
Never seen the original before this but nothing here suprises me because Wellerman.
Question for you Mortius, have you seen their cover of “Nancy Mulligan” with Malinda? If not I feel like it’s something you might enjoy quite a bit

Jeez they're good.
That's Sam Pope friend.
Love your reaction you should check out Michael korte the muses cover from Hercules and his wicked 4 Whitney cover it will blow your mind
Well done on the pirate outfit! Loved the reaction
Mortius ⇒ 🤯(many, many more than normal)
Say something intelligent Mr Mortius sir…
Amazing
For more Santiana-goodness, your next logical reaction would be this one: th-cam.com/video/2c2ELpUFY14/w-d-xo.html
3:13 I believe it’s Sam pope on the high notes
Most marvelous Mortius meltdown! 😆
Jonathan is the best
GEOFF CAME OUT WITH ANOTHER COVER THE SAME DAY THIS WAS POSTED!
JACKS LAMENT IS SO GOOD IN HIS VOICE!
Check out William Pint and Felicia Dale, they’re from Seattle.
If you can find a video of Odetta singing Santiana, I'd love to hear from you react to that.
Always a great video if Mortius loses the ability to speak.
YOU'RE AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Me when the bagpipes came in
