      Oh that's kind of sad that he's felt he had to go on a show like that.
      These shows basically use the acts that go on them. If you get so far, you have to sign a contract that the production company will be your agent forever more (unless they cancel it)... and it means you're paying them around 40% (yes FORTY PERCENT) of any earnings you make (even if it was just like being paid to sing at a wedding)!

    A lot of artists from The Wellerman (and this video) were part of the tic tok trend when the Sea Shanty was a thing. If you remember the viral video by Nathan Evans where people kept adding and layering, you will see a lot of the familiar faces from that in this video.

    I don't think this could have happened without the Bass Gang forming and tapping into the bass collab market. This is where the reaction community is so good for these artists. I caught a recommendation for Tomi's Hellfire cover from a user on one of Charismatic's vids and it led to the discovery of the Bass Gang and their members. Now we have this. Thank you for your work in exposing these artists to the wider audience!

    "... just a livestream of my brains being blown out my ears & replaced by bass." Ahahahaha 🤓 As usual, watching your kinetic full-body reactions to & involvement with the music is a whole other level of enjoyment! 💜
    One of my very favorite things about this version is being able to hear so many different vocal colors & phrasings & tonalities, all belonging to bass singers. Folks who don't know much about music (especially if they only listen to 1 genre) never usually get to experience the differences in voices like that!

    Thanks for the intro to this bunch brother Mortius. Wellermen By the wau - what does Wellerman mean?
    A “Wellerman” was an employee of the Sydney-based Weller Brothers' shipping company, which from 1833 was the major supplier of provisions - such as the “sugar and tea and rum” of the shanty's refrain - to whaling stations on New Zealand shores. Keep up the great work!

      In this case, The Wellermen is the group formed by Bobby Waters, Jonny Stewart, Luke Taylor, and Sam Pope originally to release the single "The Wellerman" after the song went viral with their additions last year. The rest of the singers are technically guest artists.

    Ohhohhohh....! This. Is. Too. Much! Why have I not heard this vibration before? I love Misty Mountains and thought I had heard every version, but, NO! I was wrong. THIS is now the top of the Misty Mountain heap. The voices! The VOICES!! Stand alone voices....together!! The sound....oh, my soul, be still, be still. Let the harmonies and deep wash over you. I am no analyst, no vocal expert....I only know what moves me, what talks to me, voyages with me, haunts and does not leave me. Welcome home, Wellerman, to my house of music. May you always sound like this, deep as the ocean, deep as the space between Middle earth and Moira.

    What I absolutely love about this song is that it doesn't play coy with the voices. It has, what maybe six?, different moments that would be the crowning achievement of a normal song. Bobby knew what he had. It has the mega-extra-super final note, but throughout the song it has majestic moments of harmony that would be the pride of any normal song from less than a minute in. And then they kept coming.
    My biggest issue with most collaborations is that the arranger just doesn't use the voices to the hilt. This song does NOT have that problem.

    This performance is pure ear candy, but in several places I can't understand the lyrics at all. I still enjoy it as I would if it were in another language I don't speak but since the lyrics are clear in some places, it does get a little frustrating when I can't understand what they're singing for the next several seconds. (I have trouble understanding people on the phone sometimes or if I'm not fully awake or fully paying attention,, so it may just be me as my brain has issues processing language sometimes; it was a great obstacle when I decided to become a Spanish teacher, lol.)

      @annakilifa331 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think the lyrics are relatively clear throughout, so yes, you might have some auditory processing issues. Maybe it helps to listen to it while having the lyrics in front of you? I don't know if there are subtitles available on the original video, but if not, maybe there is a lyric video somewhere? I don't know, I haven't looked for it.

    I like the content in this video but I’d suggest pausing less for those who have never listened or would like to hear it full through then listen to your thoughts on said song.😁😁All in all great reaction!

      That is exactly why I make sure the very first line in my description every single time is the original song! That way it’s super easy to listen to the original all the way through with a single click :)

    I hate bass voices, they make me such a fan girl which being a man is quite unsettling.

    Eww yikes! To many stacked backing vocals. Very messy.
