    I prefer SA/DA because the first trigger pull is longer, which to me feels safer. The follow ups will be quicker and accurate with the quick break. Perfect for carrying without a safety.

    The Beretta is such a fine, glassy smooth handgun. What a forgotten joy the Beretta is to shoot. A marvel of engineering. Underrated and underappreciated.

      I certainly realize it has a following and has a nice history, and I've never shot one but instead only dry fired it. I have to say in the dry firing mode it didn't really really impress me

      @@francostacy7675 I remain unimpressed as well. I have shot it. The ergos, the location of the safety/decocker? Last place. Does nothing for me.
      The Sig is a nice gun. That'll work. I don't own one though.
      The one I had to buy was the CZ P-01. It has Dawson night sights and LOK palm-swell grips. Sweet! A keeper. Although I'm not really a '9mm for EDC' kinda guy, I do carry it sometimes.

    Given a little time, you will find that the accuracy of the CZ is second to none and when you compare the purchase cost of the P-01 to the Legion, you will find more than enough money left over to install a CGW kit to address the reset along with sights of your choice and you will have amongst the very best DA/SA pistols in the world.

      If you are digging the CZ ergonomics you won't like the Beretta... My CZs feel like they grew out of my hands. Compared to them, the Beretta is a brick.

    Great video, I own two of your top three pics. I really never got into the Beretta M9 platform because of the slide placed decocker, but hear their actions are like butter.
    Anyway thanks again for all your informative and entertaining reviews, recently found your channel and appreciate your work.
    BTW, my CZ Shadow 2 has a stock trigger that rivals the legion’s, if not surpasses that 229 trigger imo.

  • @MartyBugg
    @MartyBugg 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Just found this and my top 3 varies just a bit from yours. P229 is by far #1 and has been in my primary carry rotation for decades, its on me as I type this. My #2 is P07 with M-Carbo spring kit, right size/weight for carry, capacity and serious use. From the box trigger isn't great but Cajun, Apex and M-Carbo fix that. #3 the P01 Omega, I prefer the less curved trigger to the hook on the std P01 and other CZ similar offerings. Spring kit helps here too.
    Beretta loses me with the slide mounted safety/decocker and size since daily concealed carry is my primary focus. I actually prefer the frame mounted version by Taurus but size and poor Taurus QC eliminate it from my list. I love 3rd Gen Smith's as well but again they get a strike for slide mounted safety/decocker. FN and HK options are fine guns but thick and less desirable triggers and decocker ergos for my hands.
    My wife is a fan of DA/SA as well and her primary is a nearly 3 decades old 3913 Smith. She doesn't mind the slide mounted decocker/safety as much and the small size works better for her hands and needs. It's a shame so few options exist for smaller footprint DA/SA folks in this age of poly strikers. Springfield has the XDe now but I'm not a fan of Croatian strikers. Her #2 is also P01 Omega.

    My P-01 is newer and has 15-round magazines. I put LOK Palm Swell grips on it and it also has Dawson night-sights. Outside that, it's just like it left the factory. What a shooter and it feels like it grew out of my hands when I hold it.

  • @jimgreene5748
    @jimgreene5748 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I certainly understand wanting thinner grips for a small hand, but, for those of us with big hands, the palm swell grips of the CZs help fill out the hand. It's part of the whole package, complementing the angle and shape of the grip frame, which includes a nice trigger guard undercut. Nolan is just one of many who have said CZs just feel natural in the hand. If you're looking for comfort, you should check them out.

    • @kentonhammond8938
      @kentonhammond8938 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      American made LOK grips for the CZ pistols are exactly the same size & have the palm swell in them just like the rubber ones. They are fantastic grips & good looking to boot. Great purchase no movement in the hand & I believe keep sweat under control waaay better than the rubber ones, but the rubber ones aren't bad at all.

    I too would have to pick Beretta for first choice.
    I have a cz 75 compact and I can't say enough about how this thing performs.
    Thirdly would have to be my Remington R1 Enhanced 1911.
    So that's my three today, tomorrow might be a different story.

  • @plexibreath
    @plexibreath 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for this informative video, it's a big help. I'm a 1911 guy but am looking to go to a good 9mm handgun. I had narrowed it down to Beretta PX4, Sig P226 or P229, HK USP (LEM) and CZ P01. Every day a different one of those floats to the top of the list, but it's starting to become the Seal Team Sig with Gray Guns trigger, vs, CZ P01 with Cajon trigger. Though I am fascinated with the rotating barrel or the PX4. Are there any of these you would cross off my list? What would you recommend?

    Thanks for the great video (I just subscribed)! My favorites are the HK P30sk (fantastic gun!), HK 45c, and the Beretta 92FS. I've never handled a CZ, but have heard good things about them. (Massachusetts gun shops can't sell CZ handguns.) The only Sig that currently interests me is the P226 Mark 25. I really want one! The controls on the Legion models are different. The slide release/stop is tiny and I have a LOT of trouble using it.

  • @mccormyke
    @mccormyke 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think you'll like your CZ even better the more you shoot it.
    A pro kit will shorten the reset to about 1.5-2mm, CZ Custom, Mid West Gun Works generally carry the CGW precision wire cut version. I've found the Nickel coated parts really are that much better.
    BTW, I've used Ballastol following the Frog Lube protocol for several years. Frog Lube is great stuff especially in Florida but then I can't use blue moly grease because petro lube kills Frog Lube dead. I've found Ballistol the very best CLP on the market bar none. Does hurt plastic, wood, leather, paint. It's just a CLP but I can't say enough good thing about it.

    Excellent video. I agree 100% that the Sig p229 Legion is the perfect size for me personally. I haven’t shot the Baretta, however I choose the p229 Legion as # 1 on the list for its trigger and features.. When shopping for my Legion it came down to the p229 and Wilson Combat Brigadier 92G. It was close but the P229 just got better in my hands so I chose it instead.

    Damn near my exact pick. 92FS / M9, P229 and CZ75 SP-01 Tactical. I would have to throw my CZ RAMI BD in there as well. Not that the RAMI trigger is amazing, but there is really not a DA/SA in the same very compact size as the RAMI that matches it. Plus it is excellent quality. Out of my top 3 picks, my P229 40S&W trigger is the best. Pretty sure it is because it was made in 1994 and it has been back to Sig a couple times for the service package, so the trigger is nice and broke in. SOOOOOO smooth! The CZ handguns do fit my hands best out of these though.

    My preferences for DA/SA are going to fall quite narrowly into primarily one manufacturer. Sig Sauer. First up, is the Sig P226 nitron with the SRT as it's a glass smooth, soft shooter. Next up is the P229 nitron with the SRT as it's a great size for carry and last in the Sig lineup is my P225 A1. Perfect grip size, SRT factory installed and butter smooth trigger. Outside of the Sig lineup I have to give props to an oddball that likely will be a shocker. This is my HK P2000 in 40SW. This thing is a dream to shoot and with a slightly lightened hammer spring, rivals my Sigs in butter smooth trigger and carry comfort.

  • @mrweeby1961
    @mrweeby1961 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Same 3 I'd pick although the SIG is ungodly expensive. I have the other two. P0-1 in poly green finish. Beretta 92A1 tuned on a little bit. I do have an early P220 that shoots very well. On the full size 92 vs the shorter 229 you can opt for the shorter Beretta that's about the same as the SIG. Spot on on the Beretta parts smoothness. Just got an older 92S and the slide is glass smooth on it too. Price as no object I'd take the SIG. Price considered either of the other two is just fine. Beretta has a huge advantage for cheap magazine prices though. If we were adding a 4th pick I also like the old Ruger P series (P89, P93). Not quite as refined or accurate but still excellent combat type pistols that will run anything you feed it.

    I’ll add another gun to the list of awesome DaSa pistols- the Smith &Wesson 4566. Same or very similar to the 5906 but 45 acp instead of 9mm. If you’ve never shot any of the S&W dasa guns you should try one. The Striker fired M&P series replaced them.... too bad.

    I have the Beretta 92fs Italian made, chrome lined barrel, put Kingwood checkered Houge grips on it & painted the front sight in Blaze Orange "Neon Pop", and it is about perfect, will never get rid of it. I also have the CZ 75 P01 compact decocker only, but mine is newer, & it has much better sights, Novack style, rear sight comes right to the back of the slide. And the newer CZ'S have a different style decocking lever on them, placed further towards the barrel & now all come standard with 15 round mags, & also take the 14 rounders from my all steel CZ 75 compact & also take the 17 round mags from my full size all steel CZ 75. I've never liked the high bore axis on Sig Saur pistols, even though they are great guns, the only one I ever liked was the Sig 239 compact, which I sadly think they guit making. They came in 9mm &.40 S&W. I could have bought one, but they only had it in .40 S&W & I'm not too enamored with that cartridge. I only own one & that is because it is a Browning Hi-Power, a firearm I just love, I have 3 of them all different models. By the way the reason the ergonomics are so good on the CZ is because they copied it directly from the Browning Hi-Power ergonomics. You put one of those Hi-Powers in your hand & it becomes your hand. I put LOK "Crosscut" grips on my CZ 75 P01 compact & a McCarbo stainless steel guide Rod in my CZ & my 92fs, as it is the only plastic part on both of the entire guns. The CZ is my first choice also, the firearm is amazing & is only a few ounces heavier than the Block Glock Tupperware model 19 & virtually the same size. I'll take a D/A S/A Hammer fired all metal weapon in a nice leather holster everyday of the week, over the plastic wonder nines, ugly as they are. But that's just an Old School Cool old timer's opinion, take it or leave it, but I've shot them all & I will never own a Nylon / Polymer / Plastic firearm,....ever.

    • @Bristecom
      @Bristecom 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did you know the Beretta 92 has an equally high bore axis height as the SIG P226 at 1.8 inches? The locking block action and lighter open slide may help reduce muzzle flip a bit on the 92 though. I shot both back to back a few times and the SIG actually felt a tad softer to me, but the Beretta might have had a tad less muzzle flip and was more accurate for me. The grip and controls also felt a bit better on the SIG IMO. But the 92 is more iconic looking. I personally prefer polymer frame firearms as they never feel too cold or hot, can have a more customized shape and texture, and can flex a bit which can sometimes lower the harsh feedback of some metal frame guns (Beretta 92 and SIG P226 don't have this harsh feedback), not to mention polymer frame guns are lighter to carry and usually cost a lot less and don't corrode. Of course there are always trade offs with any design - it just depends on your use case scenario and preferences.

  • @GP-mk5tj

    I personally shot the Beretta M9 and loved it. I am a CZ lover I have a CZ 75b a CZ 75 Compact and I just bought last week the CZ 75 P-01 which I will get this week. I haven't personally shot the CZ 75 P-01 but I'm really looking forward to that. I'll be honest about the P229 it looks too big and bulky and it's too tall looking from the frame to the top of the barrel. Personally if I was going for a handgun in that price range I spend a couple hundred dollars more and get to CZ Shadow 2.

    Certainly not a bad list at all. I’d be inclined to swap the P229 out for the P220, but that’s only because I shoot really well with .45. The M9 takes me back to my military days, so I can’t complain there either. I’ve never shot the CZ, but it’s on my list for sure!

For a budget, the SP2022 can be a good place to start with a Sig. Also, appreciated your videos on the S&W 629 5 inch 44 magnum. Thanks.

    Ive never shot a 1911, To me...The smoothest cycling pistol is Beretta 92, and good trigger, the best trigger is IWI Jericho, Walther P99 trigger no were as good as the first 2. Sold a HK P30sk due to the long and heavy gritty trigger. Looking at Sig P225a1, how does that compare to the Beretta 92 single action trigger and IWI single action trigger? Is a 1911 way better than either IWI or 92?

      @@mikexlr8 aren't those three you have listed all above the $600 range?
      Out of the three you have listed how does the Sig P229 compare? I'm interested in that gun but will not be buying the more expensive Legion and will be buying the cheaper one which runs around 760 as a ballpark number. What can you tell me about the Sig trigger and things you like about it or don't like about it. I tried one in the gun shop and dry fired it and I loved it but I'm not sure which one it was other than the price range some kind of fraid to just order one
      I have a CZ po9 and it's fabulous for shooting all kinds of ammo it's probably my most reliable. However I don't find the trigger that good, it's not horrible, but not great either. The reset on it I would call horrible. Guns like the Sig 229 and the Bersa blow it away and the Bersa is much less. Also I have that CZ po9 which broke on me at 200 rounds. Without warning and without any reason the double action trigger just stopped working. I had to send it back to CZ and they replace parts and I lost the gun for 6 weeks. I don't find it ergonomically great like everyone claims it's not bad but not great, the trigger is not great either, not bad and then it broke on me which then makes me doubt how much I can trust it.
