    Sig P229 Legion. I own one and it's the best shooting handgun I've ever owned. I've owned Glocks, Walter PPQ, Sigs, S&W's, Springfields, and the P229 Legion shoots smoother and more accurate than all of them....and I have the .40 cal version. I've shot the CZ as a range rental...shoots very nice, but i had tighter shot groups with my Legion. Great video!! 👍👍

  • @tinkertanner165
    @tinkertanner165 4 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    From your 4th shot on the accuracy test for the CZ you started to pull the trigger and your accuracy trailed off. First 3 shots were steady and you grouped very well. Sig u took ur time and got great grouping. I'm a sig guy. But it's clear you rushed every shot after the 4th on the CZ. Good thing you already shows it's great on the first 3 shots.

    I have an SP-01 and 226. Slightly different, but close enough.
    The 226 Scorpion was my holy grail gun, but when I got talked into buying the SP-01, I quickly understood what the fuss was all about. Not only is it as well-built, if not better than, the 226; the SP-01 fits like a glove and is incredibly accurate. It can out-shoot the 226 every time. Design-wise, the CZs recessed slide makes a huge difference in recoil, and is a vastly superior design to the full-height Sig slide. It's probably why CZs are used so much in competition.
    My 226 is just a Nitron version, but I added the SRT kit [and a new grip], so it's functionally identical to my nephew's Scorpion. (I love the look of the Scorpion. It was $600 more than my Nitron tho.) It's amazing that Sig would sell a 226 without the SRT, since it shoots like ass. My trigger feels just like the Scorpion now, but for some reason the SRT doesn't thrill me like the first time. (Probably because the Sig isn't as natural to hold as the CZ.) It is still a fantastic gun if you want to spend the money. Otherwise, you can get just as amazing performance from another gun that's half the price.
    If you love the Sig, my advice is to buy the cheapest version, add the SRT kit (about $40+install) and customize as desired. Sig charges a lot more for upgraded versions than the upgrades are worth IMO. I shoot my nephew's Scorpion better than my 226, but my nephew shoots my 226 better than his. Other than the color, the grips and the tail, [and $500+] it's the same gun.
    Last week I picked up the CZ75 Tactical Sport. It proved to me that even CZ's more expensive guns are just as good bargains as their cheaper ones. IMHO, the Tactical Sport has one of the best triggers of any production handgun in any price range. It is completely for competition, but at $1,300 it is an insane value - a 2lb. trigger pull right out of the box! [and three mags]
    I'm still a Sig fan, and it's a fun gun to shoot, but if I had to pick one, the CZ just wins hands down - even if the price were the same! I think the SP-01 [and the whole CZ line] is easily one of the best values in steel-frame 9mm guns, and one of the best designs too. I'm still keeping my 226 though. Two great guns at very different price points.

    Both pistols are really nice! I had the Sig Legion but I couldn’t overcome the large grip and high borax, so I sold it.
    Now, the CZ, has been the best pistol I’ve ever shot, grip is awesome and the lower borax makes follow up shots much easier! The sights were so, so..so I bought some TruGlo TFX’s, huge improvement.
    IMO, the CZ was the much superior pistol for me.

    • @conman1395
      @conman1395 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The CZ doesn't have a low bore axis.... Just because the top of the slide is short doesn't mean that its barrel is lower. The bore axis is 1.57", higher than a Browning Hi Power, Walther PPQ, Canik TP-9, and essentially all of Ruger's hand guns. The reason follow up shots are easier is the grip and slightly lower reciprocating slide mass. But this is NOT a low bore axis gun.

The CZ had a gritty trigger that improved greatly after a couple of boxes of ammo. Love the way it shoots, though, better than the Sig except the Legion does have that fantastic trigger. The problem is that my CZ is full sized steel frame so kinda heavy for daily carry, where the Legion is perfect for me. I have fired both of these pistol types extensively, however the CZ P-01 Omega, in Urban Gray suppressor ready. As for the SIG, in fairness, it is actually a P228. The difference between the P228 vs the P229 is that the '28 was made witha stamped steel/welded block slide (in Germany) and the '29 is made in New Hampshire, with a slide milled from billet (to accommodate .40 S&W/.357SIG rounds. The Legion is well regarded as it is a 'factory custom'. I find both pistols outstanding. I have found that the accuracy a draw (as good as you could ever want). The CZ Omega trigger is swappable from decocker to safety, and starts smooth and REALLY smooths out after a coupl hundred rounds. The standard SIG P228 came back from a factory refurbishing with a great trigger. I would say that the CZ is the better buy, better in your hand, but the P228 is slightly easier to conceal. The suppressor ready CZ has FANTASTIC sights, no need to change them! I have at least 5k rounds through the CZ without a hiccup, the SIG has closer to 8k rounds but doesn't like all ammo.

    I also wear a medium sized glove and I have trouble reaching the CZ trigger in DA. When I got my first CZ, which was a PCR, I noticed the reach issue and went online to see if there was anything that could be done. I found out about CGW and immediately ordered their pro package (which includes their reach reduction kit) and some other miscellaneous parts. Once I got everything installed, that gun went from great to phenomenal and I had no problems reaching the trigger anymore. With the polishing job that I did and the aftermarket parts, I got the trigger in the PCR down to a buttery smooth 8lb DA and a 3.5lb single action that broke like glass with absolutely no overtravel at all.
    Ever since then, if I’m buying a CZ, I go ahead and place that order with CGW as well. Granted, it raises the cost of the gun pretty significantly but it’s worth every penny to me. I actually just received another pro package that I’m about to install on my brand new P-01 Decocker that’s supposed to be arriving any day now.
    Considering the price on the Legion pistols, it would actually make a lot more sense to compare it to a Cajunized P-01. I’m familiar with Sig triggers and Bruce Gray’s triggers and I don’t think either of them can hold a candle to a CGW trigger. A P-01 with a full pro package will end up costing you roughly $900, depending on the cost of the gun itself and these Legion guns are still significantly more expensive.

All aluminum frame (all metal, but lightweight), perfectly balanced, even when unloaded...The CZ P01 is unbelievable. It's one of those guns where you literally feel like buying a second one (if you can find another), just incase a gun like that is never made again. It's probably the best ergonomically designed pistol ever made, shoots like a dream, and made like a tank. Bar none, CZs are the best of the best.....yes, I think even better than Sigs. Did a comparison several years back that compared the P-01 directly to the P228, the closest SIG counterpart. Something that's usually over-looked is what happens when you decock these pistols. The SIG hammers drop to the slide while the CZs drop to half-cock. Guess which first pull DA will be longer?
