- Ian Miller is one of the greatest fantasy artists in the world and throughout his career his unique style has brought countless dark and surreal worlds to life.
As an artist for Games Workshop he worked closely with Bryan Ansell and John Blanche to produce some of early Warhammer’s most unique and iconic imagery. In his role as art editor for GW Books he commissioned some of the finest artists of the era and composed the timeless covers for Warhammer’s fiction.
And beyond Games Workshop his collaborations with director Ralph Bakshi saw his work grace the cinema screen in innovative films like Wizards and Cool World.
In this interview Ian shares his art philosophy and process, and recalls many fascinating stories from a lifetime in splendid fantasy.

Wonderful interview! Ian is a national treasure!
20 minutes and I love how Ian sounds like the nicest grandpa full of wisdom.😂 I agree with him about "don't think, just do it." It's what I tell my kids all the time.
Sir Ian Miller is a very animated and fun person to hear speak. What a great interview Jordan, ONE of your best to date. ❤️👍🙂
This is the moment I realised that I never actually knew what Ian Miller looked like even though I own a few books of his art.
You and filmdeg doing god's work documenting these fantastic creators and artists!
Second that ❤
Beautifully shot, wonderful interview, great work, and thank you, I really enjoyed this!
What an influence Ian Miller is.
I found his work by accident, I saw one of his books in a shop and was blown away - The Luck in the Head, I still own it and been a fan ever since.
Thanks for the interview.
Fantastic interview. Makes sense that the person who colored so much of my childhood with existential dread and visions of darkness would be a lovely, sweet man.
Finally a proper interview (l mean by lenght) about him.
What a lovely chap! Good stuff 👍
I've truly enjoyed Ian Miller's work, it's got such a grand weirdness and in some ways dreamlike quality to it that makes it something genuinely fantastical, with a particular intensity to it that really draws you in. I've also enjoyed the collaboration he did with Myriad miniatures recently, seeing his works realised in some of the most bizarre-looking figures I've ever owned, that's great stuff. We need more of that!
Thankfully Ian Miller is every bit as eloquent and humble as his work has always suggested! Very inspiring interview :)
What an absolutely charming fellow.
Ian was a delight
Yes!!! Thank you so much for this, I’m particularly obsessed with Ian Miller’s art.
Came here from a link on Ian's own website; brilliant interview with, without doubt, my favourite artist. Great stuff
Up there at the top of the black ink fantasy artists.
Absolutely
Thank you for that, Ian is a friend of mine, he's such a great bloke
Great interview, thanks!
So glad I found your channel! keep these interviews coming!
Thanks for another great interview with a true inspirational artist. Ian is a true legend 😃👍
He really is! Glad you enjoyed it
@@jordansorcery always good mate, brings back memories to me from decades ago
that was a great down to earth interview. I really enjoyed it.
Another brilliant interview! Ian is far more jovial than I imagined he would be from his art.
Would love to see another conversation with Marc Gascoigne focusing on FF
Amazing. Brilliant, Jordan. Your interview style is amazing - you seem to put the interviewee at ease. Thanks for this.
Such an iconic artist, such brilliant mind, such a great interview!
You are getting the interviews no one else has been able to get! GREAT STUFF
Ian Miller is one of my hero's of art . This was such a wonderful interview, i thougheraly enjoyed watching it .
Jordan thank you for this wonderful interview.. in Miller is always been my favorite artist from the early Games Workshop art. I think this is because I've always been a big follower of the Lost and the Damned and the slaves to Darkness from when they first came out and I was drawn to those books specifically because of his art style.
loved it!
Awesome interview and artist!
no idea how you do it, but you always seem to bring out the nice side of your guests. brilliant interview
What an interesting fellow. This is one of your best interviews Jordan! Thank you! ps... we need to get Duncan, Peachy and Sugs together for a chat in a similar format!!! pps... A video on Alan Bligh would be fascinating!!! I know you're the busiest guy around, but thought these ideas might be helpful : )
A so precious video! Thanks to both of you
I thought it was too late for me to start watching this but then I just started watching and then I just do… 😂😊 brilliant conversation so thank you both for keeping me up beyond my bedtime successfully 😊
edit:
Where is my lollipop?
What a lovely fella, and giving out some of the best advice to aspiring artists as well, anyone who wishes to pursue an artistic career had best take heed.
As [Like #33 -&- Comment-layer *#5* ] : I would like to take this opportunity to *_Thank_* the Great & Top-slate talents of (?Sir?*) Ian Miller: for all his wonderful Concepts & Artworks; both within the worlds of Oldhammer & indeed contemporary *_Warhammer;_* The GW Company proper would not be where it is today without his tremendous Talents, which *_Echo_* through Time, Space & yes: the *Æther* & Warp that _is_ the Sci-fi ~&~ Fantasy settings worldwide.
(what-a-mouthful) *_THANK YOU_* Ian Miller.....from all of us.
Brother doing this interviews not only you give a face to the awesome work of arts we loved for years but you bring on the great tradition of learning from the best! Thank you thank you!
Really interesting to me that he worked with M. Jon Harrison, that was completely off my radar and now will have to track it down.
Good to see Ian and not seen him since the late 80's when I was working in the GW studio. All the best to him and still love his work. Darren Matthews
Fascinating discussion. Really enjoyed listening to Ian talking about his art. I remember picking up the Realm of Chaos book and being blown away by his imagery. He seems far too nice to have produced such dark stuff!
Jordan; "So about Games Workshop"
Miller; "This is going to be an interview about Ralph Bashki, the man was a GIANT"
Jordan; "I understand and thank you."
Miller; "Though my cat did piss on Death on the Reiki"
Gorgeous property! And excellent video, could listen to Ian talk for hours, very cool dude!
Amazing to hear from Ian about his own artist life! I didn't know he worked with Bakshi but then I didn't know anything about Ian's life. Great chat there was quite a few absolutely hilarious laugh out loud stories in there as well as some advice for budding artists. I think his images are getting a new wave of appreciation. Maybe because there's so much rather generic digital wh art these days its nice to see something much more original and striking. Thank you both for making this beautiful looking video happen!
My favourite fantasy artist by far. Phantoms of Fear was a revelation as a child.
Incredible. Sit down with John next.
Great interview mate!
Cheers mate, much appreciated
Thanks!!
Do Paul Bonner next!!!!!
This was just fantastic!
Another wonderful interview
What a treasure
Agreed!
Really enjoyed this!
Stellar interview!!
Thank you!
Another great interview! Ian is full of great stories. The cat piss on Death on the Reik!! 😂 Talking of great stories, you should definitely check out M. John Harrison’s work, he was part of the New Worlds scene with Morcock and quite likely inspired the GW teams.

What a lovely interview. Thank you, Jordan and Ian! :)
