This works for transferring to resin! Get a 1st layer down.. do the gel medium transfer(s).. wait 24 hours and get the next resin layer down. It’s amazing! I also make up colorful resin swatches on deli paper and then add them in here and there around the transfer -or in the 1st layers of resin or any of the layers. The deli paper cures invisible but the color looks as if it’s floating in between layers. Especially cool with transfers of steampunk gears keys clocks .. or whatever the art pieces are that time. Instead of buying all the pieces (gears, cogs, clocks, Roman numerals or whatever) we can print them out and transfer them like you demonstrated here.. and just buy 1 or 2 main things as the statement pops. When this video was released those labels cost $5 and some odd cents they are now priced at almost $11 all right you want to print onto the shiny side of the paper you will notice it's kind of messed up and the number one question I probably get asked is Craftsman does this work for internet this particular technique I'm going to show y'all is for LaserJet printer color or black and white I have a feeling that it might could work for this particular paper that it might could work however I have a strong feeling that it might be having tendency to bleed if you willing to experiment give it a try and let me know in the comments however but I know for a fact that it works for lazy so you want to find you a design printed on the shiny side and then you'll be ready to roll you want to apply the liquitex and an even film I like to do is I like to start out with a little bit probably more than as necessary and then work it in work it down do it work it down into a thin film but then under film The quick it is it'll try and the more clear that your payments will be disagree time to reflect on your day and think about how things have been going think of all the good things that I've been did in your life of all your blessings and all the things that you are thankful for this is when you can think about that take your friend in my case I've already got to cut it down to the right side and you want to care for it lay it down into position now what I would suggest is once you start to get it down don't move it too much or even at this stage it could already smudge the tone of particles so you want to be really careful and get away you want and then take your time and y'all know what you got to do about the Bubbles if I do you got to you I know you're necessary I know y'all serve a purpose but right now if y'all could do me just a little favor and just ease after the edges and y'all go hang out there in the atmosphere because we don't want we don't want no bubbles up in our house right now all right
HEY!!!! Just a tip, but you make sure the printer is set to Heavy Glossy or Transparency Paper mode or it will smudge the ink inside the laser printer!!!
Thanks, David! I've used a variety of print modes but sometimes it takes adjusting the contrast and saturation to lower the toner density and get a clean print. But I'll pin your comment, in case it helps someone else! Thank you again!
Dear Crafsman, I love you up to lumps. I'm a picture framer by trade and often we use self adhesive foam board to lay down posters and photos to make extra smooth. The release paper to protect the foamboard is often discarded. I think this may be a FREE source of glossy substrate to use for this process. Just ask a local framer if they use the self adhesive foamboard and if they could keep a few of the surface papers left over for you to try. I'd give it a go right now but my printer is busted.;) I reiterate, you are Ace-Pants.
I just did this to transfer an essay onto a stone tablet, worked out fantastic and I even used an inkjet printer. If you want to use inkjet it is plausible you just have to be very careful when smoothing out the bubbles.
I used to do this (only to copy a stamp to regular paper) but very stupidly, with a plastic sheath I cut out, and it always got stuck in the printer so i taped it down to a normal, paper, worked kinda but this method seems much easier and with less paint-loss. Gonna have to buy some stickers or print labels..
@@a_aron4786 most inkjets (especially at the low-end) use soluble dies. In addition to problems from the surface tension of liquid ink (the droplets really don't want to lay flat on waxed paper), these are susceptible to bleeding and running, particularly on porous materials. The dies also fade under UV exposure. Pigment-based inkjets exist, and shouldn't bleed or run, but you need to look for them specifically. Most budget color laser printers will do a better job for less.
Your channel does something intangible and hard to describe. It's like you're Mr. Rogers with Bob Ross's voice, in a way that elevates the rural and opens up crafting to any gender/class/race/etc. I know Crafsman is at least 30% a "character," not completely you, but I feel like you make me comfortable with a dialect and a part of the country I wouldn't otherwise have exposure to. You remind me that we're all much closer than we think. :)
Wow. I appreciate your comment so much. It's people like you, and comments like this one, that help motivate me to keep putting out these little videos. I never would have guessed the outcome of doing this TH-cam thing - and I was honestly apprehensive (knowing how negative people can be online) - but people like you make this worth it. Thank you!
I agree...I sometimes watch your videos over and over just cause your voice is soothing to the soul. I feel like you could be reading me a bed time story and the craft is the bonus!
I wanted to thank you for simplifying for me how to add design to wood pieces. I ordered materials on Amazon as soon I finished watching your video. I'm a passionate crafter even though you wouldn't know that if you visited my home. That's because I give away everything, never sell a single item. My joy comes from being a blessing to others. Thank you for inspiring me. Now that my husband has retired he has joined me in some of the things I do. I found a whole new side to him I never knew existed and I'm enjoying the things we create together.
Hey Crafsman, please seriously consider making audiobooks; while you wait for your work to dry or other, you could be recording an audiobook. Youv got a special voice and God gave it to you for a reason. Please think about this, it would be really great. Look at it as helping humanity reclaim something we have lost-oneness. Your voice is so rich and nostalgic. Any ho, all the best and thanks.
Wow. I take that as a tremendous compliment. It's definitely encouraging to me. I'm working on something at the moment that people may be surprised by, but it's the most creative thing I've ever done, and allows me to use my voice. It's because of y'all commenting on these videos that I've even considered doing voice work. :)
@@TheCrafsMan wellll, CrafsMan, don't keep us in suspense any longer...are doing voice work? What kind? We love you CrafsMan! Great information, clearly shot/presented and THE BEST voice over on the whole internet! Great work Crafsman. I learned a great technique and feel infinitely more chill and creative!

After watching hours upon hours of your videos I finally have figured out what works best for me and am crafting away like a mad man! I am now printing using color laser and the paper that was suggested. I sold my first 3 pieces yesterday and I owe it all to you CrafsMan! THANK YOU FOR YOUR AMAZING VIDEOS AND RESPONSES TO QUESTIONS!!! YOU ARE THE BEST :)
I started watching for the crafts, but I keep coming back for your voice! You have such a kind and gentle nature about you, thank you for the work that you do 💜
I LOVE that at the time of release this channel had 15k subscribers. In Oct of 2018 there are now 68k subs and 3700 comments on this video alone. a true testament to the appeal of the nature of this channel. I am NOT a crafter, but I am definitely going to be doing this out of respect to the creator. who knows? maybe I'll convert and in the process find some time to reflect on my day an' think about how things have been going . =)
Wow. This comment really speaks to me, right in the heart. Such a boost, reassuring that people do like what I put out there. I can’t thank you enough for taking time to write this. I appreciate you so much.
TheCrafsMan SteadyCraftin your craftsmanship is not your greatest craft. You're an enchanter, just mesmerizing people all day. I hope your day was beautiful, and that wonderful things have been taking place in your life. Thank you for sharing yourself with all of us, Sir. We love it!
There is something quite delightful about laying in a darkened room (it’s night time here in the UK) and listening to the dulcet tones of this man’s voice with, I think, his Southern accent, explaining the finer points of image transfer. If there is a more appealing method of gaining craft tuition I have not found it yet. Thanks 😀
Wow. Mighty nice of you to say! And you're correct - I'm definitely Southern! :D Really happy you like my videos. I've enjoyed your comments this morning!
You should do books on tape because I just enjoyed listening to your voice. Your gentle, kind and positive messages were also nice. Love the craft as well. I just subscribed to you.
@@TheCrafsMan I agree with rosset4music. I listen to audio books every evening. What's missing from some of the stories I listen to is YOUR voice. Do us listeners a favor and see if you can become a reader for Audible. I hope you can!
Wow! I am blown away by 2 things. This video with this sweet voiced man and the fact that I use these labels all the time! I have the backs left over and just trash them! This is AMAZING!!
Dear CrafsMan, I stumbled across this video and I HAD to subscribe! Your voice and word usage make me so very happy. I cannot wait to check out your other videos! Thank you so much for making and posting this video.
Hello, friends! I wanted to share these FREQUENTLY-ASKED QUESTIONS: Q. "Can I re-use the paper?" A. You can, as long as it's relatively straight and feedable for the printer. Q. "Does this work on painted wood?" A. Yes! Just be sure the surface is dry and free of oils. Q. "Does this work with inkjet?" A. For some people, it does. Results may not be sharp - there may be some bleeding of ink. Q. "What printer do you use?" A. I use an HP LaserJet Pro Color 200. Q. "Can a protective finish be applied?" A. Absolutely! I prefer to use acrylic polyurethane. Q. "Can I use freezer paper?" A. Yes! It may be a little more finicky to feed, if it's rolled up, and you may have to cut it.
Men you save my life! I'm just having a bad cold and I don't want to stay ages drawing and/or clearing up the paper.Thank you so much to you and your generous friend!
Yes, I am reflecting on my Blessings today ... coming across TheCrafsMan. What a beautiful gentle soul you have ... thank you for sharing these craft ideas and a sense of Peace. God Bless.
I really hate how time consuming it is to make a drawing on a piece of wood I'd like to carve. This is just awesome. I can finally carve highly detailed pieces easily as I really find the drawing part to be the hardest one. Thanks!
if you arnt looking to have a detailed photo quality image then the acetone transfer method for laser prints would probably work for you, its quite a bit cheaper, faster and generally less involved
You are one of the most wonderful parts of our world. My fiancee has this to say: I was having a hard day but watching your show calmed me down and put a smile on my face. thank you for being you. your vibes help heal the world
Your voice is a lullaby and my baby and I both enjoyed it. This is your best technique so far and, while I watched it again and followed along, baby Julie fell blissfully asleep. Double well-done!
I made use of this technique recently when found an old CD labeling kit in my cupboard. I took all the sticky paper off and ran the shiny paper through my laserjet. Once I had an image I was happy with I used an old electric travel clothes iron to 're-activate' the toner and transfer it to a aluminium (aluminum) plate I'd prepared earlier. I wasn't sure if it would work but it came out well. Once the image had transferred I used several coats of clear lacquer to fix and seal it to the plate. This video gave me the idea to try it, so thank you for the inspiration.
Stumbled in your corner and glad I did. Your a natural at presenting and making your students learn and have fun learning at the same time. Your a blessing to the community. I subscribed after 2 minutes.
If you do nothing else in life, this right here...is awesome enough that you should feel accomplished!!!! Thank you so much for making my life so much easier! Love your voice and suttle humor! Be blessed.
Crafsman, I tried this technique with an old sheet of small labels that I had on hand. I've tried other methods, and even have the TPTP, which works well once the image is printed, but is difficult to feed properly into the printer I have. THIS method, with this paper, wins hands-down. I placed an Amazon order through your link, and I hope you get rich off all the people who order through your affiliate links on your videos, because you deserve some credit for putting this video online. THANK YOU!
Wow. Thank you so much! I'm delighted to hear how well it worked for you! It really is a simple technique, and I'm glad it was brought to my attention, so that I could share it with you all. :D
The way you talk about gratitude, the way you talk to the undesired air bubbles, I can tell the Crafsman is on to something. Call it Christ, call it zen, call it peace, whatever, but he's on to something. I'd love to hear more of your thoughts : )
Hey, A V! I appreciate you keepin' on watching my vids, and thank you for this thoughtful comment! :) I do love Jesus and try my best to pattern my life based on how He showed us, which was written down. So many people may have issues with religion, but I believe that it's hard to complain against what Jesus did - which was to show love and grace to people. That's my simple approach. :)
I buy those labels because they are the exact size needed for the USPS Print n Ship postage. I keep a supply of the "if it fits it ships" boxes from the post office. They will even drop the boxes off for free at your home with your regular mail! Then when I want to ship something I use the USPS website to buy and print the shipping label. Then I can just drop it at the post office or even schedule a pickup. This is an amazing use for those backing sheets I've been throwing away!!! I could listen to you talk for HOURS! You should have a podcast where you read the daily news, it would make it far easier to deal with. LOL
That is such an ideal situation! I like when you can take something normally discarded and put it to good use! Thank you also for the very kind words, Andy!
Calming voice.....audiobooks should be your next adventure. Well explained video, thank you for sharing. When we all count our blessings.....we should count you twice!
I have to admit, usually this accent grates on my ear (my hearing is pretty bad due to a head injury) But here, I could listen all day. It’s so smooth, if I get stressed I’m coming back just to listen to this voice; I don’t care what you’re talking about, your voice is too cool
CrafsMan... you just blew my mind. That has to be the ULTIMATE way to transfer. To think I've been throwing away those waxy label sheets all these years and buying expensive transfer sheets for my crafts! I'm going to give it a try on canvas for a altered book project I'm working on. You know an old hardcover book has that fabric like texture. Well I'm going to try to do a transfer on it. Thank you for the inspiration. You are "the man". *hugs*
FYI: Wax paper works! Print on shiny side. No need to peel all those labels 😂 my first time doing your method several months ago, I followed along with you 😊
Rebuilding a guitar for my youngest nephew, and happen to work at a print shop, and I think you just solved my getting the custom "orange with flames" request made by my nephew, thanks!
This is so GREAT!! Im an artist, and have done whole shows with the gel medium transfer method. I had no finger prints for a year! All that paper to rub off my big paintings....sure wish Id seen this lol! You are such a wonderful blessing Crafsman! So cool :o) Thanks for doing these videos. On this one you said you had 15,000 subscribers....youre up to 371k as of tonight when Im watching :o) SO happy for you! you're sowing some good seeds Crafsman! :o) Keep on craftin!
I watched this video 3 various times. The 3rd time I did it right along with you Mr. Craftsman. As I reflected on my blessings I thought of my dear friend Rollin whom we had ‘adopted’ each other (not legally) he became my father and best friend, my sons grandpa. Every time he would get a haircut, he stopped and picked up the boys and they got haircuts and pizza afterwards. He made every school event and was there for every celebration or emergency. I was a single mom with no family around. I lost my mom when she was 49 years old due to cancer. My father lived many states away due to being a long haul truck driver, his parents died when he was 8 years old due to a cement truck accident. My grandmother on my mom’s side passed when I was in kindergarten also due to cancer. Rollin was my family…he always wanted grandkids but his daughter didn’t want kids. My middle son named his first born Rollin. My friend Rollin needed a double lung transplant and at a million dollars per long and waiting list and prescriptions that cost him more than his house payment, well at 76 years old he felt it was his time and that he lived a good life. His favorite saying was “How can I pray for you, with you?” He was a man of his word…he walked the talk. I am forever thankful for him…I miss hiking, going to the plant nurseries, the holidays and long hours on the phone talking about anything and just inspiring me to want that type of character instilled in myself and boys. I’m feeling blessed as I ponder on all the great times we had. Back to our project Mr. Craftman; I used a very old mailing sheet that pulled off probably 50 labels, the surface wasn’t as shiny…not sure if it was due to old labels, or a different brand, which I used Avery and Varathane ultimate Polyurethane water based. The time I wrote the second paragraph in this message, it started to peel back on its own…I put a very thin layer and the can says “fastest dry time” I didn’t expect this since you stated 45 minutes, it took less than 10 minutes! I used a Brother Laser Jet Printer that was recently purchased. Thank you Mr. Craftman, your definitely a blessing and you never know what someone else may be going through, and your kindness and teachings have blessed me. Thank you so much!
I did this in my #usmakerproject video and I used an inkjet printer and a sheet of address labels. You need to tweak your printer settings to either 'fine' or 'photo'. That gets more ink on the sheet and makes for a better transfer. Gives it a nice rustic look. Nice video. Thanks for sharing this particular technique.
Because you were very transparent about getting a kickback from Amazon if we use the link, I am using it and I hope you do get credit. Thanks for showing us this effect.
Thanks, Mary! I definitely didn't want to be sneaky-sneak about it. A video viewer like you mentioned getting signed up with Amazon a few months ago, because I was linking there anyway. He said I might as well get a little something for it, which sounded like a good idea. Every little bit adds up and helps me get a new brush or some gloves. :) Thank you again!
USE THE PHOTOPAPER MENTIONED ABOVE!!!! I didn't follow his recommendation, and tried different sticker paper backing, and ran into issues with smudging. The kenco paper in his link is thicker than usual, and the toner prints excellently on it. Thanks CrafsMan!
Glad to hear it worked, Mercury Man, and thanks for the feedback! Sorry you ran into issues with the other paper. Any issues I've run into so far have been remedied by adjusting the image a little.
You made this look so easy, I will definitely try this method. Yes, I love your voice. You should tell bedtime stories. Your voice is so calming. Thank you for sharing your craft.
Subscribed, even though I'm not the craftin' type. Your positive energy and humor could make literally anything interesting to watch, and in the end I learned something I didn't know before. Keep putting positivity out there!

New CrafsMan videos are the best surprises for me I swear. Glad I might be able to actually try this project out because I was a little hesitant to order some of that pricier contact paper. Stay steady crafting my dude.
Hey hey, Michael! Alriiight! Thank you for watching and commenting! Hope you have fun with the paper. It is for sure the easiest I've used so far. There ARE other options out there, too (like tracing paper) but this stuff was really clean. Take care!
Hi. This video gave me a lot of good info. The material used is exactly what I used. In the beginning it was always a hit or miss. Craftsman I know this is an old video but I wanted to update the process you used with what worked for me. A J roller to spread the paste and after it dries before you peel it, squirt water on the paper with a spray water bottle until you see the print show up then peel away softly pulling parallel to the board and not up. Guaranteed good results at least for me every time I did it. Thanks for the video.
Thank you Mr craftsman Profound words of wisdom. Beautiful and Calming voice Merry X-mas to you and your family ....Stay Blessed. Love from South Africa 🙏🏼🌟🖐️🌲♥️🇿🇦
@@desertflower13 I did try it and it worked great. You do have to use a wet towel and dampen the wax paper to get it off. Basically rubbing it until it breaks down and falls off.
This popped up in my recommended videos, and I'm so glad it did!! Love the video, love your soothing voice, and love what you said about reflecting on the blessings of the day while we're doing something. That's a wonderful thought that I will keep with me. I subscribed!
WOAH THERE CRAFSMAN! This is a new level of greatness, the photo transfer looks AMAZING! BTW, sometimes I think about how blessed my life has been ever since I subscribed to this AWESOME channel!

Will have to try this with some of my photography and art-started having vision problems long ago, went from Veterinarian to photographer but never found a simple way to get my work onto wood. :)
Thank You! Not only do you have Skills - You have Ethics!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I appreciate your honesty and disclosure about your affiliations, If only your Transparency of this project were as Transferable to people who should know better. PS: That’s a beautiful bird
It definitely does work with inkjet, the only problem is the colors are MUCH more faded than on here, since the ink soaks into the wood. I had to dial up contrast, and tweak colors and such to get a good print, and it also was VERY easy to move the paper and smear the image. It does give a nice faded almost antique look to it that can be appealing though, just figure on taking 2-4 tries to get it right. I also just went straight from the paper to wood, and after it dried then put on a finish.
I'm honestly always impressed with your videos. I started following you with the silicone molding videos...then came plastic injection. Now I do both... Looks like I going to learn this now too. Thank you for doing these videos, thank you for making them easy to follow I wish more folks could follow your lead.

@@TheCrafsMan thanks!
..."don't ask me how I know"! 😉
Hey David...got a quick question...my laser printer doesn’t have any of the options you suggested..any ideas? Just wasted about 20 sheets of paper :(
thanks man, saved me a headache.
The “Reflecting on your day while applying the medium “ makes this video all the more amazing 💯
It was a color picture or black ink?
Thanks for that information.
Thank you for this, really convinces me to NOT buy a laser printer
Thank you!
Man, this boy is dope, for real. Makes me want to get my craft on. You feel me?

I agree...I sometimes watch your videos over and over just cause your voice is soothing to the soul. I feel like you could be reading me a bed time story and the craft is the bonus!
I’ve been trying to find a way to describe him and his videos to friends. This hit the nail on the head!!
What a delightful comment! Thank you for watching, for your kind consideration, and for how y’all approach life and creativity! It’s inspiring!
I've never enjoyed a craft video as much as this one. This is like bedtime stories with my favorite topic

Great information, clearly shot/presented and THE BEST voice over on the whole internet! Great work Crafsman. I learned a great technique and feel infinitely more chill and creative!
I love this channel so much. Calming, educational, hilarious, and so entertaining. Doesn’t get any better than that.
I think the question we all must ask is, “WHO DOESN’T love The Crafsman?”!
Priceless. Tears in my eyes and the biggest grin ever I've experienced while watching an instructional video. I love you. Great content too.

There is something quite delightful about laying in a darkened room (it’s night time here in the UK) and listening to the dulcet tones of this man’s voice with, I think, his Southern accent, explaining the finer points of image transfer. If there is a more appealing method of gaining craft tuition I have not found it yet. Thanks 😀

Hello, friends! I wanted to share these FREQUENTLY-ASKED QUESTIONS:
Thank you! I just stumbled across this video and my first question was can the paper be reused. I’m excited to try this process!
You're welcome! Glad this helped!

I can finally carve highly detailed pieces easily as I really find the drawing part to be the hardest one. Thanks!
if you arnt looking to have a detailed photo quality image then the acetone transfer method for laser prints would probably work for you, its quite a bit cheaper, faster and generally less involved

Yes, wonderful voice!
So glad to hear it!

Dear Lord thank you so much for this man, his art, his voice and his humor!!! I'm dying over here!
You are the new and improved Bob Ross Sir! I tip my hat to you!!!!!!
A V yes...I Agee fully! His energy is so refreshing
A V ...well said!

The crafsman is a a crafty man,let me say,u a crafty man. You need a radio show!😊
I did this in my #usmakerproject video and I used an inkjet printer and a sheet of address labels. You need to tweak your printer settings to either 'fine' or 'photo'. That gets more ink on the sheet and makes for a better transfer. Gives it a nice rustic look. Nice video. Thanks for sharing this particular technique.
Hey Chris! Thanks for mentioning that, because others have asked about inkJets! I appreciate the info!

Can you do this also with polycrylic or mod podge? How long does it have to dry and will this work on painted wood?? Thanks

Thanks for the video.
awesome!!
Thank you Mr craftsman

Great video man, you make me think that wax paper might work as well.

@@desertflower13 I did try it and it worked great. You do have to use a wet towel and dampen the wax paper to get it off. Basically rubbing it until it breaks down and falls off.

I very much appreciate the nice comment!
Yes there are people who really do watch and enjoy these videos 👍
It definitely does work with inkjet, the only problem is the colors are MUCH more faded than on here, since the ink soaks into the wood. I had to dial up contrast, and tweak colors and such to get a good print, and it also was VERY easy to move the paper and smear the image. It does give a nice faded almost antique look to it that can be appealing though, just figure on taking 2-4 tries to get it right. I also just went straight from the paper to wood, and after it dried then put on a finish.
Works better with ink jet if you let the printed page dry for a day or two.......(or even more if you can)
Just one question what type of finish did you use?
@@aaronstanley6914 I just used a spray poly in a can. Nothing fancy
So you didnt use like a modpodge?
