1. apply liquitex for 10 seconds 2. place the print onto the wood 3. rub for at least one minute, but probably way longer because the video was cut a bunch of times 4. upload a video to youtube saying that no rubbing is required
The "no rubbing" he refers to in the title is not the process you see in the video. He is saying you don't have to rub the paper away after the medium dries, as is shown in many other transfer videos.

Hi, I work for NTD Television. We love this video. Can we please use it across all of our platforms and credit you / link your account. Please let me know. Thanks.
For HP printers, there is a web browser based user interface that gives you access to a lot of elements including paper thinness. Lets talk about it on my FB page, we will see how to get this work
So you say it all depends on how you apply the gel medium yet you don't "really" go into how to do that, how thick etc.Clearly if there is not enough the image won't transfer but what if there is too much? How do you know when you have applied enough. Any hints on what to look for in the light or any pointers as to how much gel to apply. Also wondering if a liquid medium like a glazing medium would work (so easy to get even coverage). About to experiment with your papers tonight. Printing on my Brother went well as long as the paper type is adjusted on the printer.
Cynthia Neely There is something belonging to the common sense that I should remind. A transfer is made by a glue, gel medium or any varnish, not by the paper. The paper is an intermediate medium that will be used for the glue to make the transfer, you want an extreme thin layer of ink/toner to be transferred, not a paper, the quantity of glue is more linked to the surface to be covered than for its thickness. So you need to apply enough glue to make sure any single pixel is going to be glued to the final support. If using different supports, uneven ones or textured ones you become an experienced user that will think of the hint to get to be able to make a perfect transfer, then you will make sure there us no space empty of glue. Before this paper, it wasn't possible to do it for a simple reason, ink was mixed with the paper fiber, when you remove the paper you can't see how much ink is removed from it. I hope it's more clear for you! Becoming a new advanced user is what a lot of users are doing when visiting our Facebook page facebook.com/Palissade.Image
Fantastic product! A few questions please: Is it necessary to wear gloves when working with this paper? What do you use to seal your transferred image? I have an Epson printer that uses pigment based inks instead of dye based so do you think the pigment based inkjet printer might be an option? Thank you.
Marjie NS816 No gloves necessary, this is water based acrylic gel medium. Sealing is made with same gel medium already used or any other one For pigment ink printers, I have only tried Epson work force with dura brite inks, i didn't like the results, i can't affirm that claria inks will do the same. Laser printer recommended! on 200 videos I've seen on youtube, only unexperienced youtubers are not talking about laser printers. Difference is more than subtle, toner powder is already an encapsulated resin that will be melted to the paper by hot rolls. Inks don't have same properties, they make tiny bubbles and does not dry properly. Find my palissade image transfer FB Page on Google, few explanations and examples can be found.
So Very Merry Hi, Same process as envelopes or labels, use a blank paper, sign it and print it, you'll see what cycle it makes, usually blank side on top is good.
Chauga Valley Farm LLC It's not really a question of stain but it's color, light colored wood will give more color vibrance than dark ones, the transfer is made by the gel, so where the gel or glue can stick it works. I hope this answers 🌺
Vanessa Henning I don't see the interest of using wax under a transfer. We are dealing with water based glues, not with oil based products. You may knew that oil and water are not friends don't you
pauline whitehead Inkjet is a water based die ink, it's reaction to wetness is quite bad, laser is a resin based dry toner. All video talking about gel medium transfer recommend laser printed pictures. More info on my FB page 😊😊 facebook.com/Palissade.Image/posts/652771548227654:0
Brittany Williams I use it on painted wood, walls, candles, stones etc. The gel medium makes the pigments transfer, the paper can then be peeled off without becoming a porridge of fibers.
Brittany Williams I have transferred a street number on the outside wall of my house without thinking what was the base of the paint, this was 5 months ago, it is UV protected by layers of gel medium
Have you or others tried this technique to apply an image to plastic, such as a model kit? Being able to cleanly transfer just the printing (such as lettering) onto a model surface without any backing film (which is how typical water-slide decals work) would be a fantastic. The halo created by backing film is often noticeable on some decals when applied to a painted model, and also "silvering" when the decal film lifts up from the model surface can often make a decal look bad. So being able to transfer just the printed image/text without ant residual backing film, would potentially solve a host of issues scale-model often run into.
The transfer of the image is made by the glue and keeps embedded in it. We do not know glues or gel mediums that grips on plastic so we do not recommend this process for non gripping surfaces
Hello tom, super great video tutorial can't wait myself to do that :) , just wanna ask after you remove the paper did you put a gel on the wood, just like sir adrian do in SLR coaching then let it dry as a final touch or you just let it dry after removing the paper? One more question is it ok to use varnish for the finale? please reply thanks. God bless!
Gavin TP Yes Gavin, always seal the pores of acrylic to close them and to protect from UV. Like any printed paper they don't like long exposition to light. You can add as many coats as you want including varnishes or waxes.
pheonixphire Hello, it works on canvas of course and where gel mediums or water based varnishes works, please see many examples on our Facebook page facebook.com/Palissade.Image
Hi Tom. This is beautiful. One thing I want to know is that can Modge Podge be used for image transfer? You also showed modge podge while describing different options for the activity
After this is transferred are you able to paint with acrylic paint on top of the image? Normally any laser transfer leaves a coat of something that beads up when painted on.
Judy Dickson If you paint ON the picture it's going to hide it, isn't it. It's possible to paint underneath and it's possible to use a varnish on top as a final layer. If I understood of course
Judy Dickson You can first apply a layer of gel medium to fix the printing. That will make a neat surface to work on. Many tests and examples are given on our Facebook page facebook.com/Palissade.Image
After moistening the image shoul I wait till it is dy, I tried to remove the paper after moistening but cannot get out i one stroke. I have to rub the rest paper.Any suggestions?
Hello, It only takes few minutes for the moistened paper to let the picture get through. You can pull it then. What gel medium did you use? Can you please message us on our Facebook page or in Etsy, here it's not possible to show pictures facebook.com/Palissade.Image
I have purchased your paper a few weeks ago....and a new laser printer today. Do you seal the photos onto the wood in anyway after the paper is removed?
Can you please share in what program, how exactly do you make those uneven edges of the photos? Because the straight edges look kinda dull in comparison. Thanks in advance!
Hello Michael Crumpton I can't answer for thousands of independent shops, you'll have to make sure with your local offices what they accept. Adrian made a video with Staples shops. Most of recent laser printers works, thing to overcome is to be able to enter in advanced settings of your computer, nothing tricky but it needs a minimum experience to find thin paper settings.
Michael Crumpton We use daily Brother printers. The only compatibility is, is the user able to find "thin paper" options in the advanced settings of his computer. People having issues never heard of this advanced settings. All informations can be found with links in the shop, in the description of the video. H Stewart Hi Stewart, there is a need to be very careful with photocopy offices, every shop is owned by different persons who can play the game they want with their customer, this is why we don't advertise about this solution. We can give you some settings in one store but the situation can change in any other stores. I don't see the interest of using wax under a transfer. We are dealing with water based glues, not with oil based products. You may knew that oil and water are not friends don't you
These came out beautiful!!!! Does it have to be printed with just laser printer?
pauline whitehead
Inkjet is a water based die ink, it's reaction to wetness is quite bad, laser is a resin based dry toner. All video talking about gel medium transfer recommend laser printed pictures. More info on my FB page 😊😊

Answer is on my Facebook page Pauline

Could this be done if the wood was painted?
Brittany Williams
I use it on painted wood, walls, candles, stones etc. The gel medium makes the pigments transfer, the paper can then be peeled off without becoming a porridge of fibers.
As usual initial surface will be smooth down and sealed by Gel Medium or transparent Gesso to fill up micro bumps.
Great! Does it matter if the paint is water based or oil based?
Brittany Williams
I have transferred a street number on the outside wall of my house without thinking what was the base of the paint, this was 5 months ago, it is UV protected by layers of gel medium

Thank you very much for sharing this video please if you can tel me what's paper you use and the printer you use for this job thank you
Your artwork is amazing!
But i would like to know how many hour exactly are needed for the gel to dry. Thank you!
Joana JOY
It's quite fast now in summer, you can use hairdryer, sun, heater etc. Most of the time it's less than 3 hours
Can you use an inkjet image or does it have to be a laser copy?
Dorien Reed
It has to be laser printed, an encapsulated resin toner, inkjet are die inks that smears
God bless!
Gavin TP
Yes Gavin, always seal the pores of acrylic to close them and to protect from UV.
Like any printed paper they don't like long exposition to light. You can add as many coats as you want including varnishes or waxes.
Thanks so much tom!
Do you think this could work with canvas as well? Or is this specific to wood transfers?
pheonixphire
Hello, it works on canvas of course and where gel mediums or water based varnishes works, please see many examples on our Facebook page facebook.com/Palissade.Image
Tom Palissade thank you!
What type of paper did you use. It did not rip when you took it off. Didn't look like ordinary printer paper. Nice work. Thank you.
Gilbert Santiago
Thank you 👍🏻, you can find our paper here www.etsy.com/shop/Palissade
Nice and neat transfer ...I loved your neatly work..where we can buy that kind of palisade papers..thank you
Hi Tom. This is beautiful. One thing I want to know is that can Modge Podge be used for image transfer? You also showed modge podge while describing different options for the activity
All acrylic based glues, gel, varnishes can be used as soon as they become transparent when dry
Gonna try this on my custom made wooden music box. Hope it works!
Opened the video but instead was listening to the lovely harp music🎶❤
After this is transferred are you able to paint with acrylic paint on top of the image? Normally any laser transfer leaves a coat of something that beads up when painted on.
Judy Dickson
If you paint ON the picture it's going to hide it, isn't it. It's possible to paint underneath and it's possible to use a varnish on top as a final layer. If I understood of course
Just wanted to add something to a picture. Thanks for such a quick response
Judy Dickson
So if you meant painting as an artist, of course you can
@@TomPalissade Thank you, anything I have tried before the paints bead up on top of the transfer.
Judy Dickson
You can first apply a layer of gel medium to fix the printing.
Tiffany N. Harris
Absolutely this is also the only way to protect your project from starches or UV and light effect
Hi lovely video thank you, what kind of paper to use for printing and is this laser print, and this technique can be used only on wood? Thank you
Laser only,, all materials on witch glues work. Many examples on this page facebook.com/Palissade.Image
Hi. Can we use an usual/after market bubble/ink jet transfer paper and can be pilled off easily like that too?
dung dung pret #
inkjet are making bubbles Sir. On the video it's mentioned laser printer 👍🏻
Can you please share in what program, how exactly do you make those uneven edges of the photos? Because the straight edges look kinda dull in comparison. Thanks in advance!
Genius! Love this technique. Thanks for sharing:-D
Hi! Should I reverse my image when printing?
Only if you print letters 👍🏻
yes, if you want to look identical to your image. if you don't it will print in the opposite.
Would copy shops let you use this in their machines? Also what printers/copiers does this work for?
Hello Michael Crumpton
I can't answer for thousands of independent shops, you'll have to make sure with your local offices what they accept. Adrian made a video with Staples shops. Most of recent laser printers works, thing to overcome is to be able to enter in advanced settings of your computer, nothing tricky but it needs a minimum experience to find thin paper settings.
Michael Crumpton
Here is the link for Staples printers settings
th-cam.com/video/EveZaLtDKfM/w-d-xo.html
Is this compatible with Brother color laser printers?
Is there a list of compatible printers?
Michael Crumpton
We use daily Brother printers. The only compatibility is, is the user able to find "thin paper" options in the advanced settings of his computer. People having issues never heard of this advanced settings. All informations can be found with links in the shop, in the description of the video. Best is to visit our Facebook page for more questions facebook.com/Palissade.Image
Can you use this technique on other surfaces such as glass, paper, fabric, etc
Dorien Reed
Yes it does. So you see that 5 sample sheets would be to short for your needs
You show three different products at the start. Are they same but different brands? Are you using "only" Liquitex on all the prints?
This is only a set of different gel medium brands that can be used. Many acrylic based glues or varnishes can be used too
Love this! Thank you!!! I'm going to check out your FB page now because I have several questions (I'm brand new to this craft).
What type of transfer paper did you use? Is there any commercial brand for this type of paper? I assumed a regular bond paper would not do the work 😖
You are on the first commercial brand that invented the non rubbing transfer paper, here is where to get it

Tom Palissade ,
Is your transfer paper, and other products available? Through Hobby Lobby, or other art stores here in America?
What paper was the image printed on? as it looks very thin. Great video Thank you.
Denise Poole
Paper is 45 g per square meter, all recent laser printers can handle it on "thin paper" position on the LCD settings or on Windows 10
Tom Palissade Thank you

new subscriber .... i love ur videos... im a FAN ...;)
Thank You, welcome Ken Zen
merci beaucoup... c'est un plaisir ; ]
I cannot find any store to do a laser print for me including Staples. They will only use their own paper and it is the normal printing type paper. Has anyone had success in finding a place to do some prints using this special paper? I love this work and wish I could try it. Thanks folks.
H Stewart
Hi Stewart, there is a need to be very careful with photocopy offices, every shop is owned by different persons who can play the game they want with their customer, this is why we don't advertise about this solution. We can give you some settings in one store but the situation can change in any other stores. Adrian made a video on this point on his channel, photocopy at Staples th-cam.com/video/EveZaLtDKfM/w-d-xo.html
Other people succeeded, just visit our Facebook page facebook.com/Palissade.Image/posts/755118407992967:0
Hope this helps you 👍🏻
Thank you. I will watch the video and cross my fingers. :)

You can also scroll the Facebook page, people are not notified on TH-cam as much as on Facebook, if you ask something under the proper published topic, some people can still be notified and answer you
This paper is great. Can the photos be transferred to anything else like glass and wax candles or just wood gives these results??
Kimberly Jones
Transfers can be made on quite a lot of surfaces, many examples are on our Facebook page, please scroll it down facebook.com/Palissade.Image
Amazing...Plz upload vedio for whiskey bottle (glass) photo transfer
Can this process work on ceramic plates?
BP Brijesh Patel
Yes it does, for decoration purpose only, there is a glue to use, Put a prime to help transfer gripping on the surface. Don't think of putting it in the dishwasher but the whole can be sealed with a resin
Hello Tom, in what sizes are your papers available? Thank you.
