- How to Transfer A Picture To Wood Slices. No rubbing necessary!
Transferring images and photos to wood and other items is a fun DIY that anyone can do. You can make great gifts or even start a business selling items with images and photos printed on them.
The methods most use are either time consuming, messy, lower quality, or costly. Using the RixCanDoIt Quick Transfer Paper is economical, fun, clean, FAST and high quality.
In this video I demonstrate transferring a picture of my family onto a very cheap wood slice.
This paper is called Quick Transfer Paper and is available from:
rixcandoit.com/quicktransferp...
What I used:
===========
White Acrylic Spray paint
RixCanDoIt Quick Transfer Paper
Rubber Brayer
Liquitex or comparable Matte Gel Medium
Wood slice
Wood putty

LASER PRINTER is recommended. This is my QUICK TRANSFER PAPER. There are some tricks you can do to use Inkjet (see other videos I've done), but I use LASER PRINTS with this paper and that is what it is recommended.
Hey I love love love your template for transferring & fixing the wood- don’t forget to pin this comment so it shows up at the very top. I scrolled quite a bit to see this and your paper invention is too brilliant and this advice too valuable to not be seen by everyone :)). I’m so happy I scrolled bc I needed to know about the paper! I didn’t know I didn’t know either lol. I wouldn’t have looked it up so I ferrrshooore would’ve learned not to do this with inkjet the hard way … after trial & inevitable error lol. Going to watch your old videos next- grateful to have found your channel! New subscriber and turning notifications on. I’ll prob be a regular here :]
@@hellohello2024 Thank you. I'm so sorry that you had to hunt for the information. It's in the description area of the video, but I just pinned this as well as you suggested. My oversight as a mad scientist. LOL! BTW, keep watching my videos because in one I show a hack that allows you to use INKJET also!
@@imagetransferswithrix woot woot am looking forward to your next vids! If you have to forget something, pinning a comment is good thing to forget😎. So many of us are using either mobile apps or the apps through smart tvs or Roku/fire stick TH-cam all. They all seem to have completely different user interfaces too so on some it’s the comments displayed directly below, on others it’s recommended videos underneath the vid etc. I think they’re running experiments to see which aspects, when emphasized, make the app more profitable. Just my conspiracy theory for the day though don’t mind me lol. But yeah comments mean engagement so they aare almost always the first or second thing noticeably visible . Thanks again for sharing your expertise & taking us through your projects with you! You’re teaching & inspiring SO many people. You’re very personable; you’d be a great professor. You can make better $ on yt though & you can reachwayyy more people. The world needs their creativity fostered and you’re doing just that🌻🙂
@@hellohello2024 Oh my, thanks. You're going to give an old man a swelled head! Glad you like it. Thanks for watching and commenting. 🙂
Those splits could be turned into beautiful artwork with epoxy resin! Nice Video
What a great idea!
I agreed with u very much 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻💕
I work with scraps of wood and resin everyday and you're right , they do ...
Yes tented
Yessssss!!
I love hearing the patience you have with yourself as you go through the process of creation. I also enjoy the patient explanation of the details you provide in making what you make.
Appreciate that. 🙂
I can not wait to try your way. I really hope it will work on an ostrich egg? Great idea on filling the cracks in the wood.
Oh my gosh, best wood picture transfer I've seen. Thank you! Can't wait to try.
Interesting and inspiring. You have shared your skills to us to make something from virtually nothing, look great. Thank you for sharing 🤩
Thanks for watching and your kind comments. It was another experiment that went well.
I really enjoyed your tutorial! It is nice to see somebody that is real, if you know what I mean. And I'm so glad you filled those cracks instead of just getting different wood. Thank you!
Thank you so much!
This video had me smiling, chuckling, laughing and learning. Couldn’t ask for more. Thank you!!
This comment had me smiling. I'm so glad you liked it. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Same here!! He is my new favorite one to go to
Take one cut piece to fit
it will mach the out side so it will it won't make the joint piece visible little filler will make no difference
Looks nice, I'll try it. Thanks Rix
Thank you for sharing your hobby. I think I'll really enjoy giving it a go with a few family photos.🌻
They are really great. I'm going to be done more of these wood slice videos really soon. Thanks for watching and commenting!
You convinced me to do my projects this way. THX!!
Great video, thank you. It was exactly what I was looking for
Great to hear!
Thanks for an awesome video. That was easy to watch and understand. You have a great personality. I will be looking for more videos.

It was a great idea using the snowblower.😃👍

Your excitement is contagious ☺️
😊 thank you
Amazing job, mate. Even listening to you, made it enjoyable and relaxing to watch and learn. Keep up the great work! 👍🏾🙂
Thanks. My wife might disagree with you on the 'enjoyable to listen to' part. Really appreciate your comment and thanks for watching!
Thank you so much! I really enjoyed your video and you provided a much easier process for me to follow!
Glad it was helpful!
I had been contemplating doing this lately and up pops you video! This is definitely my next project!
You should!
You are a total genius to invent that paper. Perfect results, thank you so much for sharing x ❤
Thanks so much 😊 Glad you like it.
What paper did he invent. Im missing that part i guess? I jus re watched it tryin to find that out.
@@teresagrigsby-rose8761 Every TH-cam video has a Description area under the video. Depending on what you are using to watch videos on, you usually can access this area and read the additional information. The paper I invented is called RixCanDoIt Quick Transfer Paper. That's what I used in this video. It's a moisten and peel paper, avoiding the need for major rubbing/soaking (messy, time consuming, can cause image damage). HTH 🙂
Thanks for sharing this with us. Love the way that you made it and as you've mentioned, there's no rubbing involved in removing the paper. I've done the paper rubbing removal in the past and of course, wished for an easier way, lol. Now I've found it :) Thanks again for sharing.
Awesome. Glad to help. Thanks for commenting!
awesome...i will try it for sure...thanks
Thanks for the video. Very inspiring.

Thank you! Will do!
Thank you sir, Its really amazing that transfered picture to the wood.very nice and beautiful. 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
When I had my shop, that is what I used to do too, leaf blower trick. Most of the time vaccum the dust for making my own wood filler. I too had all my tables and tool on wheels. Looking good, fun project I will try it.
WOW!....love it....Great job!
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you that was wonderful experience never done it before.
Love the way you explained.
Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Cool! Rubbing wet paper is like nails on a chalkboard for me.
That's pretty extreme!
@@imagetransferswithrix I know, it’s weird, but I can’t handle it. I will try this method.
Thank you, I really like your videos. I’m actually gonna try to make one right now, you got me motivated! Thanks again! :)
Glad to hear it! But you do know that this was made with the Quick Transfer Paper.
Brilliant. Thank you for this technique
You are so welcome!
That redbud tree is magnificent!
Thanks for showing us a better way to transfer photos to wood without the tedious job of rubbing off the paper. I just ordered your paper.
Awesome. Thanks!
Brilliant!! Thank you kindly, good sir! ❤ I love this so much! 😊😊
Glad you like it! I'm doing another one this week so watch for it.
It does look awesome! Thank you for showing us this technique. I'm in Arkansas, too, so I understand about the weather. 😁
Thanks! Yep. If you don't like the weather, just wait 5 minutes. Hear that all the time. LOL!
Very lovely, I am going to copy you. Thanks for sharing👍
I absolutely love your beautiful purple tree.
Wish it was ours.
That's a great video Rick. I've never tried transferring, so your video really is a great step by step tutorial. Thank you, I really enjoyed that Cheers and Happy Easter

Gorgeous video thanks so much for your help. I love that there was no rubbing
Glad it was helpful!
I really enjoyed your video thank you so so much! I learned so much! 🙏 really appreciate you kind sr. Please keep sharing with us.
Thank you, I will
You have an amazing skill, it's your way of reflecting great teaching techniques that can be used in life, not just art. Teaching by example, of showing how important it is to use our patience, especially in the fast-paced World we live in now.
You're very kind. Thank you!
What an awesome idea! I've attempted the rubbing version and tend to always rub some of the image off, too. This is a must try!!!
Thanks so much for sharing..this is the best transfer of pictures I've seen 100% perfect ..seen so many others but they all seem to difficult 😕
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you so much for commenting!
❤ Awesome you gave me a great idea. I have firewood from two years ago. I'm going to get the chain saw out and find a 6" diameter piece of wood and make some slices. Will go from there and let you know how it comes out. Thanks so much!
!
Sounds great! Just be sure to dry out that wood first and sand it down nicely. And of course, you'll need the transfer paper. 🙂
Aw! That’s so sweet and lovely I. Going to try this
Have fun!
Pretty cool. Thanks.
Love it fabulous job
Thank you! 😊
I literally stumbled across your video this morning. I'm glad I did. 😃I'll be doing some experimenting at this process myself. I lived in Shelbyvill, TX for a few years. But I've been back home in NC for over 20 years, but I thought I recognized the Arkansas accent. Wish I had a workspace like that. I've subscribed and liked. 👍 HAPPY NEW YEAR!! 🎄 God bless. 🙏5th
Oh no. Arkansas accent? I've lived here 18 years. Originally from S. California 43 years. ;-0 Glad you found the channel. Thanks for subscribing and commenting!
Love this! Thanks!

Really nice video! I like the way you calmly explain things. New subscriber here!
Thanks for the sub!
Oh wow Rix love it going to try it😊
great video. Lovely family
Thank you!
Thank you so much for showing how to use the paper towel to take some of the moisture up so you can peel the paper off, instead of having to rub it off......
Awesome...I love it.
Thank you! Cheers!
You look a lot like my late daddy! I'm an instant fan!
Looks nice.
I love that you just have a normal garage with your average tools and equipment.
I can't keep up with the fancy shop /warehouse guys.
Subscribed from Hawai'i. 🤙
Thanks! But I don't have it anymore. Just moved to a new house 3 hours away and the garage is all epoxied and pretty. My wife is not going to allow me to hang a bunch of tools on the wall anymore. I'm going to have to find a way around that. :-) Thanks for watching and commenting!
Very relaxing to watch. You Sir are very likable. Best wishes from Wales U.K.
Thank you so much! That's a very nice compliment. :-)
thanks. i like this project.
Glad you like it!
Very nice video! When it first started and you showed how the wood split, I got to wondering if it was possible to steam or boil the wood and clamp or strap it back into place. Using wood glue to hold it. I've seen videos where they would do this to bend wood or remove hammer dents. Anyway, I have no idea if it would work but that's what went through my head at the time. I also thought you could do this on smaller wood rounds on both sides, drill a hole and use them as Christmas ornaments. Thanks for the video.
Radial slices almost always split..it's just the physics of the thing, if one wants a 'Circle' best to cut if from a plank of hardwood.
Thank you for this video.
My pleasure!
GREAT JOB👍❤
Thank you! Cheers!
Love your attitude who's your daddy 2 funny came out fabulous❤❤
You did a great jobthanks
Thank you! Cheers!
Great picture and awesome job Brother!
Thanks!
@@imagetransferswithrix most welcome brother Rix ;) do you know how it works with an inktjet though? Or does it only work with laserjet?

Great video. Thank you ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
This channel showed up in my recommendation. I’ll check it out. Like I need to another craft to add to my already 500 I wanna do or have done 😂
You can never have enough crafts. :-)
@@RixCanDoit 😂 my hoarder, I mean my craft room is bulging at the seams. In all honesty I was impressed with your transfer paper. It’s on my want list. 😊
😅 No hoarders nest is complete without the paper. LOL! Whenever you're ready to join the fun I'll be around. Cheers!
@RixCanDoit No more cooking for me. My kitchen is now my craft room. Too many crafts, no way. Everyone needs a hobby or two.
Mod podge causes bubbles and ridges if you aren't very careful. Lovely piece!
I recommend Matte Gel Medium over Mod Podge.
& WHAT KIND OF AMAZING PAPER IS THIS &/OR WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT THAN WHATS USUALLY USED....YEA THAT WAS SOOOO AWESOME!!!
What is usually used? Regular printer paper. You print on it, glue it, dry it, and then soak it to death and rub rub rub rub rub rub,let it dry to a haze, then rub again, rub rub rub rub, and hopefully after all that wet mess you didn't start rubbing off parts of your image as well. That's the most common way to do it.
The RixCanDoIt Quick Transfer Paper, as you see in the video, does not require that. You print on it with a laser printer, you glue it to the surface, let it dry in a few minutes (heat gun or hair dryer), moisten it for 30 seconds, then PEEL IT OFF LIKE BUTTER! It's the better way.
Nice job !
Thanks!
Thankyou for your awesome video

Very cool content. Great video. I will definitely tell my friends about your channel.
Awesome thank you!
That tree outside is pretty. Lol I looked out my window to see if it is raining. It was a car going past in your video through the water lol. Lovely picture. Lol your funny. Wow never seen it peeled. Awesome. Very cool. Lol wrestle with the modge podge. It looks so cool. Very special when it's personal. Your wife and daughter.
Thank you 🙏🏻
Love it! I'm going to try this with my landscape photography! I was wondering however if you've ever done transfers onto glass? I think it would look cool and different.
Yes. Check out the other videos on my channel. Been there, done that, on glass. 🙂
Subscribed I’m new from England very impressed ♥️🏴
Thanks for subscribing!
Great video! I have a picture i took, i want to put on a large piece of wood as a gift this Christmas. Everything I've looked at so gar just wasn't what i wanted. This is exactly ehat i was looking for. Thanks.
Sweet, peeling looks way easier than the rubbing method, cheers
That's what I said and was why I developed this paper. Me likey clean peel every time. Thanks for commenting!
Cool ! ❤️it!!!!
Thanks!
It should say products that are needed. And each step numbered would be so awesome for us beginners. Thanks again
Check out my latest video on doing these wood slices. I've changed things up a bit. I'm always experimenting, so things change. th-cam.com/video/whiDOaWP-PE/w-d-xo.html
1. Wood Slices
2. Glue (Mod Podge works great)
3. Can of white primer.
4. RixCanDoIt Quick Transfer Paper
5. Krylon Crystal Clear spray (or equivalent)
6. Brayer (the rubber roller)
You may also want to get a few sponge brushes.
can u do more videos with this kind of wood please, i'm learning so much from you, Thank you!
If I can find it I would. Moved and don't have access to any at the moment.
Great job!
Thank you! Cheers!
I was looking for different videos on decoupaging and came across yours. I subscribed because I want more ideas with wood as well. Great job. I am making Christmas ornaments with plastic or glass using pictures, so now I can add wood ones as well. I bought a bunch of smaller wood circles once, so now I just have to find them. I think I am going to spray them with a finish though to make it easier to finish.
BTW, this transfer method works with plastic and glass also. :-)
Beautiful tree in your front yard.
Belongs to my old neighbor. We no longer live there.
Great video thanks
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Impressive
Enjoyed watching this. I’d like to try this. Just have to find some wood slices.
Lots of wood pieces available. Just search online.
well rix ive watched a few on you tube an their ideas yours was quick an bright awesome photo of your whanau kk nz
Thanks 👍
Great tutorial, thank you! Just one question, what moisturiser do you use to wet the paper before pealing it?
Huh? Water.
Awesome
Very nice❤❤❤
Thanks 🤗
You could always do colored epoxy to fill the cracks. You could make a small serving tray or even an end table top with the colored epoxy. They make exquisite pieces from scraps.
I agree.
Agree with epoxy. It would be gorgeous.
😅😅
