    Made up a batch and very pleased. I used 1T of vanilla And 1T of butter extract. It gave it a great taste. I also used Karo syrup in place of the glucose. Another thing different was I mixed it in my kitchen aid and added more powdered sugar as needed. It came out nice

    • @veraturner
      @veraturner 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nettie Pearl , I used light karo syrup, and I used the dough hook

    • @veraturner
      @veraturner 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nettie Pearl, I use it for both. I also made a second batch so that I don’t run out. One batch, depending on the height of your cake, will cover a half sheet or a double 10”. Just depends how thin you roll it out. I’ve used this recipe before but it’s been awhile. I’m glad I found hers as it’s almost identical to what I’ve always used. Did you try the dough hook? Don’t be afraid to add more powder sugar to be able to handle it. Then you can knead it almost like kneading bread. It’s a nice recipe.

    • @veraturner
      @veraturner 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nettie Pearl , you are welcome. Her suggestion of having all your ingredients measured out is a time old tradition with me and it simplifies the process. Good luck. This is a great recipe

      Hi! Can this fondant last long on cake for 4 days in the fridge?

    • @veraturner
      @veraturner 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bitutataqa7484 , fondant doesn’t need to be refrigerated. In fact it does better not in the fridge. If you are using a cake whose filling needs the refrigerated then I would wait to put the fondant on. I have placed a wedding cake in the refrigerator that had a mousse filling but it was only for a few hours and I had no issues. Watch for condensation

    hi how to preserve the fondant and how long it will be good to work with....??

    • @BakingSavvy
      @BakingSavvy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi +Jaydeep Roy. The lemon juice in the recipe helps preserve the fondant. Be sure to always keep it in a dry cool place wrapped in plastic and stored in a plastic bag as well. This prevents the fondant from drying out.
      Also, it will last anywhere from 3-6months. However, if your an avid caker, you will use it all up in your first cake or first month. :)

    Made it today I was able to make dough but after letting it rest of an hour the fondant become crumbly. It's not at all pliable and when I knead it it gets sticky. I live in india and wheather here is hot and humid that's why it gets stickier and sticker. I added cmc powder to stiffen it up but it didn't work. Can anyone help? I have more than a pound of fondant I don't want to throw it.

    • @Kis-met
      @Kis-met 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi...don’t know if you resolved this. With fondant, if too much sugar is added it gets crumbly, so removing 1 to 2 cups of sugar of the total qty in the recipe , and then slowly adding it back in till you get the required elasticity should help. Over kneading the fondant will make it sticky. Adding CMC to this would have made it worse. To recover the fondant, if you add a small teaspoon of water, microwave it for a few secs to soften , and then knead it( add some shortening to your hands and the surface on which you will be kneading it). I think that should do the trick...though , since its 9 months since you posted, I’m guessing you chucked it in the bin :)

      Also check your gelatin, make sure it is still elastic and hasn't firmed up. If it has slowly remelt over low heat or warm in microwave until remelted. Do not boil or it will not set proper. And maybe add a touch more shortening. Mix with sugar while still warm. If it's crumbly -try to warm it a few seconds in microwave, then try to knead it back together. Takes time & arm strength, it's sometimes savable. :) best wishes

    I tried the recipe but my fondant is not pliable. It breaks when I tried to pull it. How to solve this issue?

    • @BakingSavvy
      @BakingSavvy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Add some shortening to it. Once made and the fondant has rested, it will become hard and brittle. You need to knead it and it will loosen up.

    • @jayanthonettecortes9769
      @jayanthonettecortes9769 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BakingSavvy oh ok. Do I need to kneed it more? Coz I've been kneeding it for a quite now yet it's not pliable and I add more powdered sugar to it coz it's too soft. Then now its brittle and breaks
