I recently had my interest in cooking renewed, and here's a tip from something I've learned. There's an easier way to melt the marshmallows: balance the microwave-safe mixing bowl on top of a pan of water boiling on the stove. That way you can keep an eye on it to decide when it's sufficiently melted, and even keep stirring as it heats up! It's called a _double boiler_ or _bain-marie._ It's also great for melting chocolate, melting butter, making meringue (which is just sugar in egg whites - but if you're not careful you'll end up with a sweet omelet), or working with other heat-sensitive ingredients. There are three things you need to be careful about with an ad-hoc double-boiler, though: the top dish needs to be microwave-safe, wide enough it won't fall in the water, and shallow enough it doesn't touch the bottom of the pan.

I just made this. It took less than 6cups or powdered sugar for me. OMG it’s soooo delicious!!!! Like you said, it tastes like fluffy marshmallows! The best fondant I’ve ever had!
Some tips: I like to grease my marshmallow bowl and spatula so that the marshmallow doesn't stick and slides out easily. I also like to dye the marshmallow while it's still melted so that I don't have to worry about dying it after. I just add a few drops in the bowl and mix. And if you have one, use your KitchenAid mixer with the hook attachment to make instead of by hand!

I am now checking out your video and I am glad I did. I myself am not a big fan of the regular fondant taste, but the other day I tasted a slice of wedding cake made with marshmallow fondant. That was the first time tasting this version of fondant icing, it was delicious. I recognized the marshmallow texture and flavor right away. In Guyana, where I am from, wedding cakes are usually made from a "Black Cake" recipe, a type of rich fruit cake which is soaked for several days in Guyanese rum. In my opinion, this type of cake with the pairing of marshmallow fondant is absolutely perfect.
This is such a good recipe. It was a huge hit, even among fondant haters. I used a dough hook to make it and it turned out fantastic (less messy too). Just had to keep an eye on the consistency and add water a tablespoon at a time if the hook starts to bind.
I tried this it works SO WELL it’s the perfect recipe but one thing I would change is the size of it. It made way to much for just a couple cupcakes but now I have A TON of extra fondant but she’s right it tastes way better than regular fondant love you vids Rose😊❤😊

Yeah I just made my very first batch of fondant and it was so easy to make! I needed to make a bit a black fondant and seems like it was always gray even if I kept adding food coloring.Then it would be too wet so I would add more powdered sugar and there goes the gray again. I ended up kneading the fondant with cocoa powder. I also added about 1 tb spoon of shortening to the fondant and it turned super black and shinny and it tasted like tootsie rolls!!! OMG 😮 You've got to try this Ro!

I misjudged how much powdered sugar I had and wound up not having enough, but I thought fast and used some sweet rice flower leftover from a mochi project. :D (Not the most ideal substitute, a little grainy, but it's a good emergency substitute) Thanks for sharing this!
Welder/Machinist father of 5 checking in. My middle daughter is turning 7 and requested a princess cake and, while I'm no artist, I do fabricate for a living and you'd be surprised how well welding skills transfer to decorative icing. Anyways, I volunteered, to the surprise of my lovely wife, to bake and decorate a princess castle cake and figured fondant would make it look much better, but I agree that traditional fondant is not good. Never seen this channel before, but Ro is so darn adorable lol. Also props to the close up panning shots by the camera operator. Well done.
Update: added a lot of extra powdered sugar because it keeps getting really sticky, even after wrapping and chilling in the fridge for about 20 minutes. It's very hot and humid where we are and the coolest I can get the house is about 76F. I'm gonna try adding even MORE sugar, but if that doesn't work, may try a tspn at a time of cornstarch.

I tried this out and it worked wonderfully! I misjudged how much powdered sugar I had and wound up not having enough, but I thought fast and used some sweet rice flower leftover from a mochi project. :D (Not the most ideal substitute, a little grainy, but it's a good emergency substitute) Thanks for sharing this!

Welder/Machinist father of 5 checking in. My middle daughter is turning 7 and requested a princess cake and, while I'm no artist, I do fabricate for a living and you'd be surprised how well welding skills transfer to decorative icing. Anyways, I volunteered, to the surprise of my lovely wife, to bake and decorate a princess castle cake and figured fondant would make it look much better, but I agree that traditional fondant is not good. Never seen this channel before, but Ro is so darn adorable lol.
Also props to the close up panning shots by the camera operator. Well done.
Update: added a lot of extra powdered sugar because it keeps getting really sticky, even after wrapping and chilling in the fridge for about 20 minutes. It's very hot and humid where we are and the coolest I can get the house is about 76F. I'm gonna try adding even MORE sugar, but if that doesn't work, may try a tspn at a time of cornstarch.
Could you try some no-oven or stove recipes? Some beginner bakers such as myself might find this helpful!!
