I haven't see a clear answer to this question. If a person hollows out their cats, does a cat delete or installs a dummy cat... does it require a tune? What are the risks associated doing this?
@@giantkilla_yes you need a tune if you want to daily drive it you would have to go to a custom performance shop or find a specific OBD plug in type tuning device for your vehicle and yes delete all the cats or the engines exhaust stroke and compression stroke even air intake stroke will be different in each bank and the entire engines cylinders/ timing/ firing order will be off

Yeah cause one of my cat is clogged and my car is is misfiring and running rough and I can’t accelerate hard or it chokes
No the mid muffler isn’t the mid pipe… the mid pipe is where the cats are and what they hollowed out. After the x pipe is the mid muffler and no lmao u will not get a check engine light or any code. That is the most basic mode u can do and probably the best u can do for these cars since they kinda quiet from factory.

technically speaking the wider hollowed out cats maybe beats a straight pipe,. as there is more breathing room now like the headers get modded a little bit as well with the exhaust system so more power and definitely if you were looking for more rasp and growl the hollowed cat has more volume then a straight pipe, so this is a great method i did this on my cars to make it easy with out a lift system in my drive way i put it on blocks and ended up cutting a rectangle hole in the bottom of the cat , dumping everything out of it and tack welding a steel patch over the hole, i live out in the southern California desert so its all good i modded all my exhausts and nobody cared,. woo o o :) i might try your method on a crown vic that has double cats 4 of them , that or straight pipe them at the shop and 2raise out the O2 censor i got some with a cat built into the censor razer from big daddy's garage i use them to out the engine light one with a bend one with the cat in it and a 3rd another extender 3 of them welded together l o l ,. cheers

Don’t hollow out the cats. The cats have mad value. Just buy mid pipes from jba (u will also be louder with 3inch mid pipes) and sell the cats to the exhaust shop or to somone else if u don’t want em
It will change fuel mix to make cat hotter trying to make it more efficient. That way your car will always run with a rich fuel mix. The best solution is to install a device called oxygen sensor simulator in cat 1 sensor 2 that way ecu will always think cat is running efficiently and maintain the default fuel/oxygen mix making your car spend less fuel. It would also be a good idea to weld a pipe inside hollow cat space to avoid "explosions" (idk the name in English) . You just need to weld 1 side of the pipe in the gasket

Actually the post sensor reads the amount o2 change from the the pre sensor reading to make sure the cat is doing what it's suppose to do.
Better than spacers are oxygen sensor simulator. Cheap and efficient, that way your car will always run with a efficient fuel mix

If you don't get it tuned it'll just dump slightly more fuel and bring the mpg down quite drastically, but it won't ruin your engine

@@rashidm8400 that was 2 months ago. I deleted one side. No tune and used a spacer on 02 sensor. Runs and sounds great.

Is taking your mid-mufflers or mid pipe (after the X pipe) would it turn on the check engine?

You can do it at home for free all you need to do it buy spark plug nonfoulers to keep the check engine light from coming on
