I know you've never heard of it, but my car is commonly tuned and modified to some pretty crazy extents. I know damn well that my car is a Sentra, but it is not "Just a Sentra". 3. I like the smell of my car now, but back then it embarrassed me a bit when my friends noticed it and hated riding with me for it. 5. I don't care whatsoever on what you think of me, my exhaust, or any of the decisions I have made, I just made this video to help people out who were on the fence with making a choice on a serious modification to any vehicle. Not Your Average Car Guys You are very correct My cats etc are non-existent however I have had been pulled over in FLORIDA to have a visual exhaust inspection luckily I lowered my 05 GTO a inch making it a bear to see my cats. I left my mufflers and when the officer saw that he just went about his way pls on my car the muffler delete along with kook headers etc and the deletes make my car overwhelming so that's nice too

Good honest information here. B4 cats were on cars we use to replace the stock muffler with either a Cherry Bomb, Thrush or California Turbo muffler. I always used the plain Jane California Turbo mufflers because with those they were quiet until you got into it then they would open up & sound Amazing. Back then our cars were V8s & ran on Premium leaded gas👍👍
It would be his microphone, his camera most likley has the background noise cancelling feature. I've recorded my car with the exhaust disconnected from the manifold, it was loud as hell but in the video it just sounds pathetic.
Not trying to hate on him but I agree if you can talk normal and still hear the person it's not loud. I had a truck back in high school wasn't stock by no means but a deaf friend could hear it.
Our government here in Tennessee voted to do away with the annual emissions test and I was just thinking about the new option that I now have if my catalytic converter ever gets stolen. I don't know if it makes any sense to a mechanic but I would be willing to cheap out on the repair and run a second muffler in place of the stolen catalytic converter if it was just as quiet as before and saved me more than $500.

What type of smell are we talking about here? My current exhaust with cats smells like rotting eggs while I'm driving uphill, whereas most cat deleted vehicles I'm around smell like a go-kart track or a lawn mower. While some may find the latter to smell terrible, I prefer it over the current smell.
This is mainly common sense but is a good reminder for some drivers out there. These kind of videos remind me all the time to stay humble I guess is the best way to put it, with the way I drive
Sounds to me you need to run a couple cans of seafoam in the gas, and check the O2 sensors, to be sure they are in specs. Also it sounds good. Try the seafoam to clean your engine, and watch the black soot disappear 👍👍👍
When you say straight pipe, to most, that's a muffler and resonator delete. Cats arent exactly cheap and smart people know that removing cats are horrible for the environment. That being said, your car looks pretty cool.
You can smell bad things? Are you sure you did this correctly? Make sure you have no exhaust leaks and maintain the flow towards the back. Shouldn't have any issues with smell.
Don't delete a cat from '96 on up, unless you don't mind a MIL lamp. I've seen cats with 275k on them that aren't plugged or blown out. Cat housings expand in diameter 50% to 75% larger (or so) before the honey-comb and compensate for the restriction. You're better off keeping the car well maintained and in tune to prevent such cat failures. If you feel you MUST delete a cat, be sure to only delete the 2nd one DOWNSTREAM from the 2nd oxygen sensor. It's still illegal, and won't pass states' emissions, but generally won't set a code. Corvettes can do 200 MPH with four cats. Wanna go fast and sound mean? Buy a faster car.
+Pat Callahan 1. I live in Oklahoma, no smog here. 2. If you're afraid of codes, spark plug defoulers are $4 and keep you O2 sensors happy. 3. For my car in particular, the precatalyst starts disintegrating around 80,000 miles, and car severely damage the engine through inhaling ceramic dust through the EGR system (which is just the stock exhaust flowing in reverse when off the throttle). 4. Pops sound good on any car, just because I'm cheap doesn't mean I have to be boring.
2017 WRX. No cats. deleted the two this car had. No check engine lights... since the car was tuned to run without cats. It also, with a few other mods, resulted in 310 WHP. Stock the car dynoed at 225 at the wheels Name another car that can do 0-60 in under 5 seconds, tops out a little north of 160mph, And can do the above for UNDER 30,000 new (including mods) And is not front wheel drive? I bought what i could afford, and made do what i wanted it to do. Gives my buddy's 2016 S4 a run for its money.
I have a 2000 ford Expedition that we straight piped and rebuilt the throttle body, engine..it starts rough, but rides so smooth. 🙌..better on gas, no regrets.
I have done two cat deletes. One on 89 Integra another on 98 prelude. And yes be ready for Loud! Definitely gonna have a black bumper lol. And smell.. It's all with it though. Advice.. If you have an o2 you need a spacer! They are cheap and easy to install. This will keep your maintenance light off and keep an accurate reading. :)
Hey bro, I just did a cat delete and having lots of problems, will like to talk you about it. I also just followed. Did an 02 spacer work for you to keep the CEL off? Did you have to do any tuning, and also does your car have cat over temp protection?
My old 300zx was straight piped and I never thought it smelled weird🤷🏼♂️ I definitely think my Mazdaspeed Protege needs to be straight piped… the damn thing is way too quiet.

My 19 Ranger is only muffler deleted and it’s louder than this, I also removed my 15 f150 5.0 muffler and resonator and I set off car alarms just from starting it up. YOU DONT KNOW WHAT LOUD IS, FRIEND.

if you still have the stock header you should change it ASAP, as you might be aware the precats on the SpecV's are mounted about 6 inches from the engine on the exhaust manifold header, and before 2006 when Nissan finally fixed the issue is they end up breaking apart from the inside sending titanium from the precat into the engine on compression cycles causing higher then normal oil consumption and lower compression, and in many cases critical engine failure. if you're not familiar with the issue you should really do a google search on the subject. you can grab on for like 60$ on ebay right now.
+Bald Vulture No worries, when I took care of the rest of the exhaust I knocked out the pre cat and used an air compressor to get rid of all the dust. It isn't harming anyone anymore, thanks for your concern.

I was hoping to talk to people who did not know as much about modding or were undecided on doing a large, illegal modification to their car's exhaust. I did it myself, and lived with it for just a little while at that point, so I could go over the pros and cons for people with just an axleback or a catback. I'm like you, I like a bit of sound in the cabin. Now as far as it goes for me being qualified to work on a car, then watch me replace all the brakes and one of my axle shafts in one of my earlier videos, I think I know what I'm doing to an extent :).

Because I travel within the vicinity of such English cities as Chatham and Maidstone on a regular basis, I’ll probably consider straight piping my car if the catalytic converter gets stolen during my stay in these places. Just for the record, I drive a Mk III Miata (we call those MX-5s over here just for the record), and the cost of getting a new catalytic converter fitted would certainly outweigh the current market value of the vehicle.

I have a fully straight piped car, extremely loud tbr, i only had one ticket cuz i was making it pop, theres cases that i turn my radio off just to hear the car, i have no regrets
My daily basically has open headers due to rust in key places. It's pretty loud. Not horrible in my case at idle, but when I "step on it", it's loud. Kind of hilarious because the car is gutless. A small 4banger mated to a three-speed automatic it does 0-60, eventually. Oddly enough, a small part of me wants to yank out the engine once I get my truck on the road, rebuild it, modify it to be a little more on the performance side, and mate it to my truck. The truck weighs about as much as the car and is a 5-speed manual. The HP ratings for the stock truck engine and the daily driver car are about the same (daily driver has about 10-15 less HP stock than the truck engine). So, maybe if I slapped a turbo on it and tuned it, maybe 120-130hp? lol Probably not going that route though as the daily driver engine was never designed for power. It probably couldn't handle it.

Sounds to me you need to run a couple cans of seafoam in the gas, and check the O2 sensors, to be sure they are in specs. Also it sounds good. Try the seafoam to clean your engine, and watch the black soot disappear 👍👍👍
And don't run cheap gas👍🏿
If you can't find seafoam, try spray foam. It will seal all the gasket leaks and insulate everything well.

When you say straight pipe, to most, that's a muffler and resonator delete. Cats arent exactly cheap and smart people know that removing cats are horrible for the environment. That being said, your car looks pretty cool.

Are you sure you did this correctly? Make sure you have no exhaust leaks and maintain the flow towards the back. Shouldn't have any issues with smell.
Don't delete a cat from '96 on up, unless you don't mind a MIL lamp. I've seen cats with 275k on them that aren't plugged or blown out. Cat housings expand in diameter 50% to 75% larger (or so) before the honey-comb and compensate for the restriction. You're better off keeping the car well maintained and in tune to prevent such cat failures. If you feel you MUST delete a cat, be sure to only delete the 2nd one DOWNSTREAM from the 2nd oxygen sensor. It's still illegal, and won't pass states' emissions, but generally won't set a code. Corvettes can do 200 MPH with four cats. Wanna go fast and sound mean? Buy a faster car.

2. If you're afraid of codes, spark plug defoulers are $4 and keep you O2 sensors happy.
3. For my car in particular, the precatalyst starts disintegrating around 80,000 miles, and car severely damage the engine through inhaling ceramic dust through the EGR system (which is just the stock exhaust flowing in reverse when off the throttle).
4. Pops sound good on any car, just because I'm cheap doesn't mean I have to be boring.

2017 WRX. No cats. deleted the two this car had.
No check engine lights... since the car was tuned to run without cats.
It also, with a few other mods, resulted in 310 WHP. Stock the car dynoed at 225 at the wheels

I have done two cat deletes. One on 89 Integra another on 98 prelude. And yes be ready for Loud! Definitely gonna have a black bumper lol. And smell.. It's all with it though. Advice.. If you have an o2 you need a spacer! They are cheap and easy to install. This will keep your maintenance light off and keep an accurate reading. :)

My 19 Ranger is only muffler deleted and it’s louder than this, I also removed my 15 f150 5.0 muffler and resonator and I set off car alarms just from starting it up. YOU DONT KNOW WHAT LOUD IS, FRIEND.

if you still have the stock header you should change it ASAP, as you might be aware the precats on the SpecV's are mounted about 6 inches from the engine on the exhaust manifold header, and before 2006 when Nissan finally fixed the issue is they end up breaking apart from the inside sending titanium from the precat into the engine on compression cycles causing higher then normal oil consumption and lower compression, and in many cases critical engine failure. if you're not familiar with the issue you should really do a google search on the subject. you can grab on for like 60$ on ebay right now.
+Bald Vulture No worries, when I took care of the rest of the exhaust I knocked out the pre cat and used an air compressor to get rid of all the dust. It isn't harming anyone anymore, thanks for your concern.

I was hoping to talk to people who did not know as much about modding or were undecided on doing a large, illegal modification to their car's exhaust. I did it myself, and lived with it for just a little while at that point, so I could go over the pros and cons for people with just an axleback or a catback. I'm like you, I like a bit of sound in the cabin. Now as far as it goes for me being qualified to work on a car, then watch me replace all the brakes and one of my axle shafts in one of my earlier videos, I think I know what I'm doing to an extent :).

Because I travel within the vicinity of such English cities as Chatham and Maidstone on a regular basis, I’ll probably consider straight piping my car if the catalytic converter gets stolen during my stay in these places. Just for the record, I drive a Mk III Miata (we call those MX-5s over here just for the record), and the cost of getting a new catalytic converter fitted would certainly outweigh the current market value of the vehicle.

I have a fully straight piped car, extremely loud tbr, i only had one ticket cuz i was making it pop, theres cases that i turn my radio off just to hear the car, i have no regrets
My daily basically has open headers due to rust in key places. It's pretty loud. Not horrible in my case at idle, but when I "step on it", it's loud. Kind of hilarious because the car is gutless. A small 4banger mated to a three-speed automatic it does 0-60, eventually. Oddly enough, a small part of me wants to yank out the engine once I get my truck on the road, rebuild it, modify it to be a little more on the performance side, and mate it to my truck. The truck weighs about as much as the car and is a 5-speed manual. The HP ratings for the stock truck engine and the daily driver car are about the same (daily driver has about 10-15 less HP stock than the truck engine). So, maybe if I slapped a turbo on it and tuned it, maybe 120-130hp? lol Probably not going that route though as the daily driver engine was never designed for power. It probably couldn't handle it.
