I just got the new y pipe cats on my 06 YukonXl bout 6 months ago but I have quite few mods including a tuned and my cats no longer have platinums inside my cat due to the amount of exhaust flow it has so I have had a check engine light ever since they are basically straight pipe now

As a state inspector myself for Texas, if there is no check engine light and the codes have not been cleared, it should and will pass unless there's something else wrong. Now on the other hand, this will fail a state inspection if they visually inspect the exhaust system like they should, which most places don't. Especially here. I'll just pass my own shit lmao

The only reason the downstream sensor is on the vehicle is for the computer to see that you took off/gutted the cat converter and to deliberately make the vehicle run like crap when it's been deleted in order to keep the Commies that run the EPA happy, and to force us "evil auto owners" to blow more of our money on useless bu11$hit at the parts store. When the companies first put cat converters on vehicles, they only used one O2 sensor, and those vehicles ran just fine that way. Look at the 1988-1994 chevy/GMC pickups, suburbans/tahoes/s-10's, etc.

anti foulers are for old wore out engines that burn oil, so the oil dont drip on the plugs and foul them out. I used to drive 25 miles to work in a old 1969 pontiac temptest, the plugs would foul everytime i hit the freeway, I would go pull them all and clean them at lunch so i could make it home. Heres some more info on this as I was battling the cat inefficiency code for about a month on my 2011 Mustang GT:
The secondary O2 sensor measures the amount of oxygen going through the catalytic. The cat consumes oxygen as it converts NOx and CO into O2 and other gasses. NOx and CO are pollutants that it tries to eliminate. I believe that if the cat is throwing the P0430/P0420 code, it reads too much oxygen going through. Some people get rid of these codes with the defoulers and end up with a P2096 code. As I understand this happens quite often with this setup. The P2096/P2098 code is post catalyst lean code, which also means too much O2 passing through the cat, which happened in my case. What I did was simply use a third defouler on the bank 1 O2 sensor (P2096 code). Worked perfectly. You can try stacking the defoulers until the sensor reaches the optimal voltage. If you run out of room to stack them, they sell O2 angled extenders which is basically an elbow fitting to space the O2 sensor further from the bung.

Anti-foulers are for engines that are burning oil and someone doesn't want to rebuild yet. The spacer removes the plug from inside the cylinder so the oil doesn't burn onto the plug tip, shorting the gap and preventing the spark.

or you could just install a resistor into the send and return wires at the rear o2 connector to simulate a lean output mix. This would have no effect on your fuel consumption since the downstream o2 is just a cat monitor. The PCM will not know the difference.

the downstream sensor(s) report a voltage signal typically of 0.01v to 5.02v back to the PCM (Euro and Asian will be 0.01v to 1.02v). The PCM is looking for a steady voltage signal and flags a P0420/P0430 DTC when it is receiving one closely matching the upstream sensor. The voltage return signal is varied by resistance generated within the sensor. If you were to install a resistor between the send and return wires to emulate solid signal return, say 500 ohms or so, to get the return voltage between the expected parameters, the PCM will see this as a "catalyst working properly" condition and not throw a fault.

Great video! But for those that do this, don't forget to flush the memory in the ECU, several ways to do it, easy way is to disconnect the battery for a few hours, or disconnect - side of battery and run a wire from - to + for 5 minutes. Than restart and do the warm up setup as per vehicle, your car will relearn if any changes are made, most likely doing the cat thing will not change much if any, but it is always a good thing when you change anything fuel or electrical wise that effects the engine.

However after driving it 100 miles, and driving it a little hard, the light went out. I passed the inspection test. A $6.00 investment! However most videos I have seen on TH-cam, the guys put the NON-FOULERS in the vice and run a 1/2" bit through the threaded side of the NF taking the chance of hitting the threads. Turn it around and put it in the vice with the small hole up. Gradually increase your bit size, (making sure to hold the drill level) until you get it open to 1/2". You don't need the crush washers, except the one between the first non-fouler and the 02 bung.

Great job! My honda Ridgeline gave a P0420 on bank 1 so I put an anti-fouler on the top of the cat which is bolted directly to the motor (it has an upper and lower). I cleared the code & drove it for 20 miles and got another CEL for P0420 below threshold. This time I put an anti-fouler on the lower one, hopefully that did it the trick. Truck has 145,000 miles.

Your oil pressure gauge is probably due to a bad oil pressure sending unit. If your needle goes down when you turn your truck off, then pegs when you start it, it's the sending unit. If it doesn't move and stays pegged, it's probably the stepper motor behind the gauge. This is what happened on my 2004 Yukon. Not really hard to change, just gotta rent/buy an oil pressure socket and reach back there behind the intake and replace it.

i tried this on my ford focus st225, its a 5 cylinder turbo you did not get them in the usa you only got the later year model of that car, i installed the decat pipe on the car and used the non fouler with the o2 sensor and still had check engine light, reset the ecu many times. i then got a lamba spacer with a 90 degree bend in it and put the o2 sensor on that and still had a check engine light. i packed the spacer with wire wool and still had cel for high temps detected. so i put the cat back in place and the cel went away, for some reason my ECU must be very sensitive to the heat threshold it thinks is acceptable before giving a cel. if i do install the decat pipe again im going to have to get a tune like you said to turn off the code.

@@redneckengineering7739 Yeah, I had my cat's removed. Although I will say, my engine light stayed off for about 200 miles. Long enough to get it to pass state I.M. but then got that code and decided to just put cats back on, which I kinda like bcuz I can run without a muffler in line and it's not to loud, without the cats I had to have a muffler bcuz it was to loud in the cab anyway it is a good thing if you can get it to work.

I have 4 on my explorer sport. Could I just gut them and leave the sensors plugged in normal? Or would it still throw a code? I have a Flomaster 40 series and I just don’t think it’s as loud as it should be for having that exhaust.

If I don’t care about my check engine light being on do I need to do this in my 98 k1500 or will it have running issues?

I'm getting a code p2069 post catalyst fuel trim system running too lean bank 1. im catless, but wouldn't i put the fouler on the o2 sensor closet to the engine since it says bank 1? I'm new to this car stuff.

Doesn't the one you drill a hole through go on top and the O2 sensor screws into it? I didn't know if you meant to put them that way or not?
