  • An enjoyable first experience trying to capture decent nature soundscapes. Lots to learn but the early morning visit to Balgownie Woods was a great way to start.

    I was expecting to record bird calls but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed trying to capture the amazing sound of the leaves rustling in the wind.
    The tall Silver Birch trees sounded amazing, the only word that came to mind was, shimmering! I know it is meant for describing light but it seemed right to me at the time:-)
    The kit used;
    Zoom F8n
    Sennheiser MKE600
    Rode Blimp mkII
    Rode Wireless Go II (for stereo width)
    K-Tek Stingray KSTGJX
    I had 12 clips that I cropped down to save your ears from me walking about and bumping the mics. I hope you find it interesting and would love to know if any ornithologist can identify the bird that was making the 8khz whistle from about 16min 30sec.
    If you have any questions, or can help with identifications please comment below and I will get back as soon as I can.

    Another great recording!!What you think about the Rode Blimp mkII?I would like to convert this blimp for the earsight XLR stereo pair from immersive soundscapes omni mic's.These microphones have approximately the diameter of a Neutrik XLR connector-Thanks for sharing✌

      Thank you very much, I am planning on doing a video of my EM 272's in the blimp I will try and show how much space there is to help.
      The Rode Blimp MkII is my only experience with spaced wind protection, but it does seem to work really good to me. It will be interesting to compare the Blimp wind protection against the small windjammers on the EM272 mics.
