Pacific Rim The Black introduced us to this guy, and he's possibly the most powerful creature in the Pacific Rim Universe. In this video I look at his origins to try and figure out what his role will be in season 2 of Pacific Rim: The black season 2

Apex most likely needs to eat because he is a hybrid and not entirely a Jaeger, the brain needs some form of nutrients or even Kaiju blood to keep it alive
I understand that Obsidian Fury is also a hybrid and wasn't seen eating but I don't think it was as connected to it's Jaeger like Apex, Apex was an accident that turned into something very interesting while Obsidian Fury was placed inside a Jaeger, I feel that there must be something keeping the brains alive in the Jaegers and for Apex it must be Kaiju blood
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. The flesh has to be going somewhere. So, I'm guessing he either needs to revitalize a brain or a heart. Since he has blood I feel like he could've also developed a full-on digestive system and other organs too. We saw how drastically the Hybrids in Uprising changed so it's not impossible.
That sounds pretty interesting, didn't even think about it like that, I think I thought of it as if Apex was somehow similar to Obsidian Fury
@@burning___ It's definitely similar but I think the difference is that the Precursors/Newton wanted Obsidian Fury to look like a normal Yaeger to maintain the secret of Hybrid types to keep people off his tracks for as long as possible. So, he must've limited the Hybrid transformation by only letting the tech take control of the mainframe and control the Yaeger using its original systems. While a full Hybrid has Kaiju tech that reaches all throughout the Yaeger and re-engineers it into an entirely new form. Just like how we saw those smaller Hybrid Kaiju in Uprising transform Raijin, Shrikethorn, and Hakuja into Mega-Kaiju. The big factor that makes all that possible is the Precursors nano/like tech that they gave to Newton that allows them to create Kaiju from scratch. Just like we saw in the vision from the first movie when Newton and Herman drifted with the baby's Kaiju's brain.

Apex was definitely the most badass hybrid I have ever seen in Pacific Rim The Black. It's a shame Boy in kaiju form killed Apex in season 2. 😭

Yeah that's something that has always made me think once and awhile how did apex sense b0y despite b0y being deep underground hopefully we do find out what true connection the two have with each other in s2 but if you remember my pacific rim theory I said that maybe the two work together or understand each other because both are free independent hybrids that aren't the slaves of the precursors. Regardless of the reason hopefully it's shown at a later date.
I knew apex was some sort of hybrid when I first saw him in the first trailer and in ep 2 but the reveal of him in his full glory in ep 6 was absolutely amazing to witness. Just seeing a independent hybrid thinking for itself and helping humans that also helped a fellow hybrid shows apex truly is indeed the most intelligent creature in this franchise along with b0y too. Really apex ranks right up as my favorite pacific rim character along with mei. As long as I get them both in s2 I will be happy lol. At the moment it's hard to truly say if apex is the strongest creature but he is definitely one of the strongest by far. Great video my man keep it up 🤌👏

Things I want to see in season 2 as well like Heleigh and her brother find their Parents and a new main kaiju like Copperhead was in season 1 but this time a Jaeger with a kaiju brain in it attacks and Apex shows up and fights it

Didn’t in the Anime stated that the Drones including Apex before turning into Kaiju were destroyed by a Feedback Loop like in the Movie Uprising
Only ones with active Kaiju transformation were killed by the feedback loop. Apex hadn’t transformed during the time of the feedback loop and was instead changed by the Kaiju blood on his own instead of through the precursors. That’s why he wasn’t under the control of them and instead his own creature.

@@lordshotgun7168 Sorry I didn’t state properly. I meant on like in the Movie we see the Drones turn into Kaiju mechs so How would Apex be somehow looking different. Guess I just assume that the Movie Event happens at the certain spot so Apex’s Drone group are yet to be formed n the Feedback loop got to them first. Just questioning cause they Timeline from the Anime n the Uprising movie seems to not be in line for the Drones

Why does every franchise i like have to die?
The stuff kaiju are made-of is independently hive-minded: that blue-tissue knows where other blue-tissue is; all kaiju and subsequent genetic hybrids are subject to the laws of the hive-mind-connection, but it ensures no incompatible grafting will occur while precursors build a kaiju. The blue-tissues are all from one life-form; probably a colonial-soup of blue simple-cellular-live-stock cloning itself, groomed to grow tissues, mutate and transplant genetically-identical biological-materials for the precursors to build kaiju.

What if the reason Apex was separate from the precursor hive mind was because of a mutation in the brain cells that could have developed within the jaeger drone during the process in which it was merging together

Apex is a large, humanoid Kaiju-Jaeger Hybrid with black armor colored with red markings around its body, several sharp spikes ranging from its arms and cervical, red, claw-like fingers, a spherical head, red eyes, and sharp teeth. When it was first constructed, it had silver-grey armor and blue eyes, but otherwise looked the same.
Personality
Apex is a normally violent creature who, not unlike other Kaiju, shows extreme hostility towards everyone within its vicinity, sadistically killing and eating any Kaiju it comes across. Despite this, it does have a gentle side, most prominently shown with Kaiju bOy, and is capable of expressing curiosity. Apex is shown to be a genuinely helpful individual towards those it considers allies, as shown when it gave Atlas Destroyer Chaos Nemesis' arm as a replacement for the latter Jaeger's lost arm. It is also capable of prioritizing more important objectives over less important ones, as it briefly pursued Bogan when they unintentionally attacked it, but remembered its goal to save Boy from the Sisters of the Kaiju and resumed its course towards Sydney. Apex seems to care for Kaiju boy very much, as it went out of its way to find him and restore his memory, even when Boy severely injured it whilst berserk.
Abilities
Apex has the ability to open Breaches through the collaboration of other Drone Jaegers by firing a beam from its chest. It can forcefully drift with several people at once, allowing it to show its memories to those who it drifts. Apex can emit a scanning beam from its eyes to access an individual's memories and transmit them to others, during which its eyes shift from red to blue. It can also shoot missiles from its shoulders, although it has not been seen doing so throughout Pacific Rim: The Black.
Apex is a powerful fighter, as it was able to kill several Kaiju throughout its life, and was able to easily hold its own against both Atlas Destroyer and Kaiju bOy. It can use its sharp, claw-shaped fingers to impale opponents. Apex has impressive strength, as it was able to create a large shockwave by punching Atlas Destroyer.
History
Apex was a Drone Jaeger built by Shao Industries with the intent of supplanting humanity.[1] It, along with the other Drone Jaegers, was secretly modified and turned into a Kaiju-Jaeger Hybrid by Newton Geiszler, who was under the Precursors' mind control, and began opening Breaches in the Pacific Rim following the activation of its secondary brain by Newton. Apex and the other Kaiju-Jaeger Hybrid's rampage were stopped by a feedback loop created by Liwen Shao to block the signal that Newton used to control them, killing most of them. Apex, however, survived and fell dormant at the bottom of the sea. Some time later, Apex reawakened and broke free from the Precursors' hive mind, and began hunting both Kaiju and Jaegers alike on the isolated continent of Australia. He later encountered Kaiju bOy, a Human-Kaiju Hybrid and established a neural handshake with him, becoming his loyal guardian in the process, and saved him from the influence of the Sisters of the Kaiju by restoring his memories of Taylor and Hayley Travis before succumbing to his injuries and dying shortly afterwards.
ADVERTISEMENTApex was one of several Drone Jaegers constructed by Shao Industries. Technologist Liwen Shao was motivated to design the Drone Jaegers out of concern for the lives of Jaeger pilots. Unbeknownst to her, Newton Geiszler, under the influence of the Precursors' hive mind, had secretly placed Kaiju brains inside of the Drone Jaegers to further the efforts of the Precursors' attempts to colonize Earth. Newton activated the Kaiju brains within the drones, causing them to turn into Kaiju-Jaeger Hybrids. Among these hybrids were Apex, who, along with other Drone Jaegers, began opening Breaches within the Pacific Rim. They were eventually stopped by Liwen Shao when she created a feedback loop that destroyed most of the drones.
Pacific Rim: The Black
Apex was the only one of the Drone Jaegers to have survived the feedback loop that killed the rest of his brethren. It fell dormant at the bottom of the sea, but regained consciousness after an unspecified period of time when the Kaiju Blue inside of it began circulating its body, causing its armor to turn black with several red markings around its body, and its eyes to shift from blue to red. No longer under the Precursors' control, Apex began attacking both Jaegers and Kaiju in Australia. At some point during Operation Blackout, Apex arrived in Meridian City and killed a Kaiju that was rampaging in the city prior to its arrival. Shortly afterward, it destroyed to large drones who tried to fend it off. Apex sensed the presence of a Human-Kaiju Hybrid in a recruitment center for the Pan Pacific Defense Corps and attempted to drift with him, but failed.
