Netflix and Polygon pictures have only ever spoken about two seasons of The Black, but does that mean that it's the end?
Its a scary question but somebody gotta ask it. The first pacific rim news that breaks will completely invalidate this video, no doubt. But where we're at, as of now, is that the future of the franchise is unclear, so lets take a look at the ways it could potentially go.

I hope Netflix makes another Pacific Rim show covering a different story/survivor cast
And maybe survivors without the Kaiju shifter thing or whatever I didn’t like boy

I kinda hope they adapt on black's story, I want to see more of boy's story get expanded and (assuming this happenened) see the siblings and mei undergo actual pilot training, and get to see mei find her parents and get to see more of her backstory, idk there's alot I would like to see

This series fills the niche in my mind I never knew I needed. I hope it can be a similar situation to how it went before, with some radio silence before another movie or show. It doesn't seem like the kind of franchise to be pumped out bi-annually.
I hope we get at least another season for the Black (or even better another show!) Or just another movie that could serve as a prequel showing the reopening of the Breaches and the fall of Australia/the presumed rest of the world, and possibly Herc in the spotlight.

Outside of the scene where Raleigh and Mako first breached, the Jaeger pilots are almost these inhuman action heroes.

I don't think it's the end. Guillermo had plans to expand the franchise with comics and a TV prequel series called pacific rim steel warriors. These projects would of lasted from 2014-2016 leading up to uprising which was supposed to come out in 2017 before being delayed to 2018. After Guillermo left and Steven came in he had plans for uprising to be the beginning of expanding the universe and his pacific rim 3 going beyond it and probably crossing with the monsterverse.
Obviously due to uprising failing that plan was cut short so legendary made the black more than likely as a last ditch effort to save the franchise which thankfully did work. After this I'm sure it will take awhile for us to get another pacific rim project again but I'm sure after the success of the black legendary is confident enough to make another pacific rim show and will probably go forward with that format over movies. All they need is the right people that understand the first film in order to get any future projects done well.
i feel like Mei should get her own show even if its just a single season. They could implement all her memories, maybe even dig into apex's back story a little bit in there somewhere and who knows maybe give spyder a big roll in tracking down her family or something like that who knows
Not to mention feature flashback scenes of Shane during and before the Black.

Personally, I would compare Mei to Raven from the original Teen Titans TV show from the 2000s. She was by far the most interesting character, and even if the brother and sister's story is done, she needs her own show. I really, really want to see what's next for her.
I personally would love to see a documentary style series exploring tha kaiju war up until pacific rim one
I think a "rogue" kaiju would be intersting. Like a knifehead or something that got a cranial injury that severed his connection to the hive mind
i think thats what they were going for when they created apex, only big difference is that apex is one of the kaiju jeager hybrids

I would like to have an prequel short stories
For example :
Episode 1 : origin of the first jaeger
Episode 2 : Gypsy Danger first fight
As much as I want to see a new movie, I wouldn't be surprised if they changed up the audience demographic. To who I don't know but either way I would hope for better toys because there are surprisingly few already.
Apex is probably my favorite character and certainly the best thing introduced by Pacific Rim The Black. I hope he is alive, even if they never show it or explain it, inside I will be sure that Apex is alive because he was too good a character to be killed like that
As someone who is new to the franchise of pacific rim I would love to see more I want to see more if I had the money I would do it but I can’t 😭
I see the Franchise could live either 2 ways, 1) a prequel of events leading up to the first movie, 2) season 3 of the black and yes ik the creator said season 2 would be the last
i understand that this is a lot to read but i think itll be worth the few minutes.
i think the black ended with too many loose ends and unanswered questions, also way too many characters died in the last like 2 episodes that it felt like they were just trying to cram in story points. apex, brina, shane, and loa should not have died. apex wouldve done an amazing job as the "muscle" of a trio with atlas destroyer and boy, as well as just being overall badass and insane. brina was a character that was needed for a true 100% happily ever after ending, and her absence kinda throws that off a lot. shane i understand was a villain from like the very beginning but i feel he could have had a brilliant redemption arc. i get that his passing was kind of needed in order for mei to really integrate with taylor and hayley's family but he would have done great as like the uncle character, teaching everyone how to shoot a gun and such. loa was a core character ever since her introduction and i feel that there could have been a way for the writers to make her data be stored in a memory chip that couldve been extracted before the explosion. all these deaths just seemed so unnecessary. as for unanswered questions, what happened to the rest of the sisters? what happened to shane's henchmen after their encounter with apex? did the whole of australia get kaiji exterminated or are they just living in parallel? plus so many more i dont even remember. as much as a happily ever after ending as season 2 of the black had, it almost raised more questions than it answered. i really hope theres a season 3, and my biggest hope is for them to revive apex and make him even more overpowered than he already was, probably one of the most powerful characters in the entire franchise. hes just my favorite characters and im just kinda salty.
I hope they don't leave it here because there's so many plot points and stories that were introduced but never concluded e.g. herc, but if they did continue it I don't really know what they would do. I think it would be really cool to see a story about the early days of the Jaeger program and those battles with kaiju but I feel like that would be too disconnected from the black era which would make it difficult for them to come back to it. I suppose it's one of those situations where I don't know what exactly I want until I get it so we'll just have to wait and see.

If they do end up saying that apex isn’t dead they could do it as he’s been captured by the sister and they are trying to control him

If they were to show them actively going to the precursors, then they would most likely to have salvaged the beams that opened breaches from the drones. Maybe because of their experimenting with that to try to make a man made breach it just made a dozen more?
I got an idea for a battle (Pacific rim vs neon genesis evangelion) gypsy avengers vs eva unit 01.
i personally think a show that covers the early days of the war, such as the first 4 kaiju attacks and the developmemt of the mark 1's would be really interesting because im getting tired af of some random writers just slapping extra unnecessary lore instead of fleshing out parts of the story that I actually care about
I personally dont like the way Uprising took the series, the plot was dumb and its just not feasible for any amount of jaegers to walk into the anti-verse and defeat a civilisation millions of years older and many worlds larger than them. The black to me just isnt Pacific Rim anymore, its a pretty stereotypical mech anime with the Pacific Rim branding slapped onto it
I wish I saw gypsy danger or avenger in the show until I realized both of those Jagers sacrificed themselves at the end causing of their movies to be completely destroyed. But they made more than one... right?
I would love to see just about anything that would continue the Pacific Rim franchise. The detail about Netflix saying 2 seasons is interesting, it could mean that the black was just a lead up for another project, but we will have to wait and see.

i want to see more of apex maybe a build up of what happened then maybe outta a dormant state and then maybe be recognized by the ppdc orrr since he's part kaiju he can pass through the breach and we could see the fall of the anteverse?
I have both movies, whached both seasons of PRTB and have read all the comics and I can say that Pacific rim is my 3rd favourite franchise with star wars in 2nd and transformers in 1st. So I wish this series would continue.

I don't know how profitable the black was for the series, but I feel like to tell the stories they need maybe comics or books is the way to go.
While they could do a star wars style prequel with Yeager we've not seen a lot of mentioned like lucky seven or coyote tango.
I feel like moving forward from the black or going in-between the first and second film may be the way to go live action wise with the caveat that Guillermo del toro returns

Mrnormalpearson, I think obsidian fury is made out of the same parts of gypsy danger, The reason I think so is because obsidian fury has the same torso as gypsy danger, also the kaju brain must of upgraded gypsy danger.
They just need to remake uprising and make it good, or make a new movie that de-canonizes uprising

And what about Loa’s amazing decision making as an Ai? That was something evolutionary & the writers should have dedicated some screen time about how the humans could be inspired to improve their technology & ai in their other jaegers.
I feel like this series could have been used as a message to inspire kids everywhere to want to become engineers, designers etc & invent more cool stuff in the real world. To invent real life Loa’s which could help us.
Movies like first pacific rim 1 had a a few messages & i think 1 message was to inspire people to want to invent unique inventions, whatever they may be.
The series just focused on the family in the end & nothing of Loa & Atlas which were the humans’ greatest creations.
If i remenber Loa was the only AI in the Pacific Rim universe to receive a "emotion core" to test the grounds, part of the reason that Atlas Destroyer was make a training jaegar was due to the fact she has emotions.

Godzilla's presence in the Pacific Rim would definitely up the stakes, so much even the Precursors would be afraid of him. He is a Kaiju not of their world, but humanity's, one no can control.

What if apex never die
Who knows chief all we can do is wait and see right now. Also imo i don't think Apex is fully dead. The damage to his head does not look like it hit his brain.
The black isn't for me it's some story issues that I can't get over and the kaiju fights are overly weak compared to the movie fights that felt like an all out brutal fights also I think it's just the fact that I don't like 95% of anime it's either over the top annoying or just looks awful like the kaijus in the black look terrible to me like literal dirt tier pokemons imo. Uprisings story annoyed me but the fights were good and had some good lore and a few good story moments. Pacific rim one was just fantastic and I'll never lose the cargo ship battering the hell out of a kaiju memory or the death of an important copilot or a damn good ending or the crazy fights and great designs across both movies but the plot of 1 was great and 2 was dumb. But I hope this isn't the end as an anime that some people like a great design across both live action movies incredible and brutal battles and so actually great story for characters in the first movie. It had a hard time with uprising but the fights are still impressive like obsidian fury was a great fight and ofc what happened to guardian bravo saber athena and bracer was mad to watch. So at it's weakest it still offers incredible moments in places
