    I don't even have a HD and I still enjoyed watching this. Gotta get a bike now.

    I've watched a lot of pretty good Twin Cam videos this past month. This is the best one I've seen yet.

    When getting ready to disassemble will both push rods be loose to just take out? Also, on install how to you work the push rods back in so they are not applying pressure anywhere that is not good for the bolts on top of the rocker box. Thank you for the video

    • @CrackerJackMechanic
      @CrackerJackMechanic  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      At top dead center (TDC) of the compression stroke, the intake and exhaust pushrods will have no pressure on them. This is the recommended position for removal and installation

    Great video really appreciate torque values and the use of brake pedal instead of locking tool

      Turns out the problem was idle air control valve. Bad timing for that to happen!

    Great video! Out of curiosity, what does the process look like prior to starting the bike for the 1st time after a cam replacement? I've heard someone say that you should remove the spark plugs first, but that didn't make any sense to me.

    should i replace the lifters when i replace the cams? i have (Andrews 37H) going in. Is there a complete gasket / bearing kit that you prefer?

    • @CrackerJackMechanic
      @CrackerJackMechanic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good idea to do the lifters if they have 20k or more. Great debate on the best lifters to use… sometimes depends on supply. I’ve bought new ones from the HD dealership to do jobs. I’ve used them with success

    You forgot to check the cam gear alinment with a straight edge

    • @CrackerJackMechanic
      @CrackerJackMechanic  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Indeed, that is worth noting. In this case, I didn’t actually change cams either, so their actual length didn’t change. But good you’re watching. ✌🏼

      I've done it both ways. Make sure you get the bolts and holes oil free. Proper torque is essential.

    Son's friend said he took the cover off to get it powder coated and his cam fell out?! Wants me to fix it. I can't see any way for a cam to just fall out. Guess I'll find out.

    • @CrackerJackMechanic
      @CrackerJackMechanic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, the cover is the support plate for one end of each of the 4 cams.

      CrackerJack Mechanic I was expecting a soup sandwich. I didn’t know the engine on his bike was different from the engine in a ‘Glide...Pulled the plugs, put her in 5th, pried up the lifter and rotated the wheel to get it off the cam lobe. Easy-peasy.

  • @michaelmitchell5909
