No they dont. This is a anime thats designed like a tournament. When the previous king passed, 100 books paired with 100 mamodo were sent to earth to duke it out. Last one standing becomes the King. They dont die, theyre sent back home. Kiddo is still alive and well along with the others. No joke. Brago is JACKED now.
@furionmax7824 They are alive and well because Zatch brought them all back. They were spirits in the Manga when Zatch and Kiyomaro fought Clear Note. They were dead and gave their powers to help beat Clear.
I get what your going for here, but the script needed a bit more time in the oven. Loved the analysis of "carrying on the will of friends", but the pokemon comparison and "uncle Ben effect" were a bit off the mark. I'd compare Zatch Bell a lot more with Digimon than Pokémon. Digimon are extensions of their tamers much more so than in pokemon because they're given actual personality and agency, but still, their wills mostly align with their tamers. Pokemon are pets. Digimon are friends. But Zatch Bell takes this a step further. The demons are Partners with individual wills and goals separate from their partner. A lot of what makes Zatch Bell special isn't Zatch Bell himself, It's his relationship with Kiyo. The demon's complex relationships with their human partners are what make the story so interesting to me. (SPOILERS AHEAD [MANGA INCLUDED]) Brago and Sherry exemplify this dynamic the best, they go from hating eachother's guts, to Sherry literally willing to die for Brago and Brago giving up his dream to save her.
Though i find this video mediocre at best, I have to thank you for making remember Zatch bell! Because all this time it had been living at the back of my brain for years.And the only thing i remembered about it was a few scattered memories. So, again, thanks
