I really loved Origins take on the gym leaders honestly. We're shown right away that Brock *can* have a full team of six, but since he knows that Red was a beginning trainer, he used only two. I could be wrong, but I feel like this implies that while Origins followed the games, there were still some elements that trainers could start at whichever gym they had that was closest to home. If a trainer grew up in Fuchsia city, Koga would be their first leader, and would probably use something like a Koffing and Venonat.

They try the same thing in the English dub but it doesn't work because he ends up picking his colored pokemon anyways.
It works in both languages, in the English dub; Blue said he's going to pick Squirtle not because it correlates with his name, but rather because it's a Water type with advantage against Red's Charmander, a Fire type.
@@ethanc.1443 Yes, but he had no reason to pick Bulbasaur, unlike Green who has a reason to pick Bulbasaur (his name) but picks Squirtle anyways. In English he doesn't really have to choose, he would never be interested in Bulbasaur.

I'm glad that Pokémon origins is getting brought up again, watching Red struggle against Brock to then capturing Mewtwo at the end is an excellent development, poor ash could only dream of such a feat
3:36 Two things I like about this scene: 1. Red's shown to treat this like a game rather than a serious commitment or real-life activity with related dangers attached to it. He doesn't try to catch an opponent's Pokémon out of malice, he does so because he legitimately isn't thinking about the implications of it. Not in a brain-dead stupid kind of way, but in a "never really considered that" kind of way. 2. In the games, when you try to catch another trainer's Pokémon it says the trainer blocked the ball. Not only is that weird (you think a 7 year-old bug catcher has the speed and reaction time to stop you from throwing a ball at his Pokémon?), but it kind of conflicts with the Snag Ball from the Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness games. In Origins, a barrier blocks the ball from working, showing that the Pokémon must be disconnected from its current pokéball to be put inside another one, which makes far more sense.
The biggest contribution Origins made to the Pokemon canon was Brock's implication that he has different teams for different skill leveled trainers. Also the fact that Giovanni being disappointed Red is struggling with the normal type Snorlax could possibly be in reference of the actual competitive scene in which normal is the strongest type and Snorlax is arguably a top 3 Pokemon.
@@aaronfield7899 This is wrong, Normal is the strongest type in gen 1. Snorlax not being top tier is also false, it is the second best pokemon in OU and top 3 in Ubers. Psychic may have the two best pokemon but it's a worse overall type than normal is. You can check out Reverend's RBY OU and Ubers videos, Big Yellow's videos, or Jimothy Cool's videos if you want more info.
I know and they made red more serious ash was good too but I felt like the normal anime was good but kinda goofy especially with the rockets they should have had .ore involved in the series besides Jesse James and Butch and Cassidy
I don't mind goofy but I can't say I'm a huge fan of ash at least not after like unova. I like liko though but I would still prefer more of these then that.
The best part about Twilight Wings especially is how much personality each pokemon has, every single one is unique even among similar pokemon. Like Bea's Machop, Machoke, and Machamp, who all have completely different personalities, or Wooloo in general, or Corviknight and its consistently Menacing kindness
Regarding Emma/Essentia, yeah. The suit was very much controlling her. In the games, she describes it as taking a nap while in the suit. She eventually gets control of the suit and basically becomes a superhero of sorts.
Even though origins was choppy, it represented the feels of going through the og games pretty well. I LOVED Giovanni as the villain, and they did his character well. How they showed him switching out his gym pokemon for his good ones omg nostalgia!

The only outlet we have for a longform story like this is the Pokemon manga but that will never be animated and hardly anyone in the fandom knows they exist, and if they do it's because of the Lavender town chapter with the zombie Pokemon.
I think it’s not who it’s targeted to, but the length of the series. If Pokémon was a 25 episode series for a region it would just be so much better because it can tell a way more complete and tighter story.
@_peters6221Careful bro you're triggering the toxic Ash simps/Horizons haters out there who are blind to flaws and have the biggest nostalgia bias in all fandoms.

I would LOVE a proper Looker series, he's a great character and the episode with the orphan girl he took in just shows you what a show about him and those close to him could look like.
Always love when Pokémon gives us short form series. It would be great if they gave us a full length series, in the vein of origins or any other spin-offs.
Generations was such a great mini series, by far the best episodes for me were the second univa story and the final story. The dark stuff surrounding these episodes were something we never seen so vividly in a pokemon series, from the massive amount of death team plasma created with freezing the city to az killing who knows how many pokemon and people with his ultimate weapon. Such dark stuff in pokemon was something new and i really did hope they would do somethign else dark because pokemon has a lot of dark themes in it that would make a great show for a more adult audience.
Hisuian Snow really shows how much of a menace Hisuian Zoroark is. Being able to scare and alpha garchomp into running away with just your presence is terrifying
Hisuian Snow is such great mini series. I went to Shiny hunt a Hisuian Zorua just because of it, but I love it's coloration so much that I can't bring myself to evolve it 😅

Alister is a fun character. In the pokemon Gatcha game, he talks about when he was young he died. And it was his ghastly (that would become his ace Gengar) that lead him back from the spirit world. So the little vignette with him helping the friends in hospital, does really track given his history with being sick.
In the Japanese version of gen 1, Red's rival is Green, and the Japanese version of Origins reflects this by giving him the same name. I don't know if the dub is different due to me having not seen the dub, but I do recall the starter scene involving Oak asking Green if he'll pick Bulbasaur for the same reason Red chose Charmander. He’s called Blue in the dub and he’s asked if he’ll choose Squirtle because of his name as well and replies he wouldn’t choose his Pokémon for that reason but chooses Squirtle anyway, because of type advantage.
The best part of Origins was the HP bars! It feels a lot more legit when you can see the damage Blastoise and Charizard dealt each other. You can see how close it was! They needed that for the major mainline anime battles eg: *_1. Leon's Chaizard vs Alain's Mega Chaizard X._* *_2. Ash-Greninja vs Sawyer's Mega Sceptile._* *_3. Alain's Mega Chaizard X vs Trevor's Mega Charizard Y...etc._*
Twilight Wings is still my favorite bit of animated Pokémon media to this day. Shingo Yamashita is one of the best and most creative directors working today, and it’s not hard to see why he’s so sought after with how he handled directing it. It has such incredibly strong cinematography, and he along with the other animators on board put particular care into each character’s movements to really bring them to life. It really set a new bar for shows of this kind.
I think you did such a great job with Ash's journey, and doing this was just totally above and beyond. Origins and Generations were just great fun. I love Ash but getting to see other trainers do their own thing is awesome. I really think that now Ash is done, there will be a huge market for one off short stories in the Poke Verse, similar to what Star Wars tried to do since being purchased by Disney. THAT BEING SAID, let's hope they are able to maintain a higher standard for their universe that Star Wars had over the last few years 😅😅😅
Pokemon origins reignited old nostalgia for me... though my favorite part is the (in)famous squirtle chomp. I get a kick everytime i see that clip. Its flipping hilarious.
OMG THERES MORE POKEMON STUFF!! WHOOOO!! after watching all your 8 episodes on Ash's complete journey, I literally can't believe you're pumping out more pokemon stuff! =D YOU ROCK!
I certainly wasn't expecting another hour of pokémon, but I'm very glad to have had the opportunity to watch it! Thanks for making all of this for us, Jordan, it's been amazing! Gods, I want to watch pokémon from start to finish, now, but where would I find all of it?
I actually really liked the story of Sword and Shield. You go about, learning that this long passed on legend is actually a lie that was being used to cover up the truth about the legendary Pokémon of the Galar region. Even Rose, he's not a bad guy but gets so stressed out about trying to ensure the safety of Galar that he gets paranoid and accidentally causes exactly what he wanted to avoid. I get why people don't like the games but the story is actually pretty good and a nice change from "bad guy wants world domination".
The mini series set in galar show rose's more human side, showing how he cares about people, he seems so authentic in the miniseries which i think the games don't protray well enough. Like he isn't just a bad guy who wants world domination or anything, but the games paint him pretty poorly and make him seem more like lysander who is a complete nut job than a well meaning guy who fell off his rocker.
Fun fact: the Origins anime uses a Team one of the Developers used for the Hall of Fame Charizard, Persian, Jolteon, Scyther, Dodrio and Lapras And Origins was also supposed to be an Advertisement for X&Y's main Mechanic as it came before the games did
BRO its kinda dope how bar for bar the beginning of Red and Ashes journey is! Even the stuff with Pidgey and the ratata except Ashs ratata stole his foodies😂
One thing about these miniseries I love is how they capitalize on what Pokemon as an anime is best at, impactful moments. As such, I disagree that they should be longer.
The fight with geodude served as such an effective lesson about type matchups that he withdrew his fire type from the fight against a rock/ground type and sent out an even less effective poison type.
I remember seeing someone point out in the Generations videos that the "video game" lead we see in each episode is the other one that Origins didn't used and by the time we get to Gold/Silver and Red/Blue/Green we are pulling from side stuff or remakes for the leads (also I remember the Internet loosing it at Green being the lead on the Kanto one, since she is a Japanese only character).
I cant be the only one that want looker and detective pikachu to have a cross over. Also Hasuian in snow is so cool. I never heard of it until now but watching as the beginning is of humans and pokemon is super refreshing. You can even say that him taking off at a young age to vefreind pokemon is the tradition of 10 year olds setting off on an adventure.
id like to add a subtle little moment where broke realized ash didnt have any other badges and reasons out as to why he only used a geodude + and onyx, implying if he wasnt his first gym battle, he would have used more pokemons out of his arsenal
Something interesting to think about with the Cyrus episode The Reverse World has water, but it doesn't have food, Cyrus almost certainly doomed himself to starve to death
Origins was legit, especially with Bryce Pappenbrook and Lucien Dodge voicing Red and Blue, as well as Johnny Yong Bosch voicing Brock. We need a Red VS Ash battle at some point.
Origins is the only one that i have watched. It was the first pokemon related thing that I had watched in years. I stopped watching during the Ruby era. It was fun going back to somewhere so familiar and seeing it more from the game pov then the anime.
The final episode of Origins was the official reveal of Charizard X. Up until this point Charizard Y along with the other kanto starter Megas was the only reveal for X/Y just weeks before the game came out.
Thanks so much for watching! Let me know some of your favorite Pokemon anime spin-off moments or episodes!

Suprised you didn't talk about the old Pokemon Chronicles mini series! Maybe someday!
in Part 2
@@JordanFringe94 awww yisss can't wait, loving the Poke dive
I think you did such a great job with Ash's journey, and doing this was just totally above and beyond.
Origins and Generations were just great fun. I love Ash but getting to see other trainers do their own thing is awesome. I really think that now Ash is done, there will be a huge market for one off short stories in the Poke Verse, similar to what Star Wars tried to do since being purchased by Disney. THAT BEING SAID, let's hope they are able to maintain a higher standard for their universe that Star Wars had over the last few years 😅😅😅
Personally I was a huge fan of pokemon chronicles back in the day cause it showed Ethan and Krystal
Pokemon origins reignited old nostalgia for me... though my favorite part is the (in)famous squirtle chomp. I get a kick everytime i see that clip. Its flipping hilarious.
I like Team Rocket being seen as an actual threat
OMG THERES MORE POKEMON STUFF!! WHOOOO!! after watching all your 8 episodes on Ash's complete journey, I literally can't believe you're pumping out more pokemon stuff! =D YOU ROCK!
Generations and Origins are both masterpieces I want whole seasons of these
I certainly wasn't expecting another hour of pokémon, but I'm very glad to have had the opportunity to watch it! Thanks for making all of this for us, Jordan, it's been amazing!
Gods, I want to watch pokémon from start to finish, now, but where would I find all of it?
Online somewhere. Pokemon tv has kanto, johto, alloa and the three journey seasons. Iplayer has sinnoh and unova so theres a start.
Brother, whata dessert to finish off that whole ass meal of a series you just finished
I appreciate how you added the "who's that pokemon" commercials. Chef's kiss of this editing.
Video: Who’s that Pokémon? (clearly not Pikachu)
Me: IT’S PIKACHU!!
Video: iiiiiiit’s Snorlax!
Me: GODDAMMIT!!!!
*EVERYTIME*
None of us ever forgot the vicious swuitle mauling the Charmander.
I didnt realize it until lately but you're one of my favorite content creators, spawncast is where i found you
Fun fact: the Origins anime uses a Team one of the Developers used for the Hall of Fame
Charizard, Persian, Jolteon, Scyther, Dodrio and Lapras
And Origins was also supposed to be an Advertisement for X&Y's main Mechanic as it came before the games did
the x&y mega evolution specials are the best
Ngl never seen this deoxys one, catching pokemon in space would be FIRE
Awesome as always thanks your Pokémon videos helped reignite my passion for the franchise i wish they would dub all of these!
Thank you so much for all videos you made. You are one of my absolutely best youtubers ever. :)
Jsi borec. Mám moc rád tvoji tvorbu. Zdraví Nogy.
I see all those little doodads and I hear your magic honeyed words, but let me ask you this
*"Do you even splash, bro"*
BRO its kinda dope how bar for bar the beginning of Red and Ashes journey is! Even the stuff with Pidgey and the ratata except Ashs ratata stole his foodies😂
So I think we as the players steal a charmander leon was going to give hop
One thing about these miniseries I love is how they capitalize on what Pokemon as an anime is best at, impactful moments. As such, I disagree that they should be longer.
Nothing like a fringe video to make laundry day a little brighter 😍
The fight with geodude served as such an effective lesson about type matchups that he withdrew his fire type from the fight against a rock/ground type and sent out an even less effective poison type.
His Nidoran had double kick.
Gabby and Ty’s gulpin keychain was nice touch
Loving this long form content. I really enjoyed origins. I'm curious about the Hisuian show. Looks really good tbh.
23:55 I love that there is a caterpie on screen for this line
I remember seeing someone point out in the Generations videos that the "video game" lead we see in each episode is the other one that Origins didn't used and by the time we get to Gold/Silver and Red/Blue/Green we are pulling from side stuff or remakes for the leads (also I remember the Internet loosing it at Green being the lead on the Kanto one, since she is a Japanese only character).
I loved the Pokemon mini series and spinoffs . Chronicles, origins , evolutions , generations and twilight wings etc but enjoyable
Thanks again Jordan. Loving the Pokemon lore
Love his work
@@claymathewselevator8121 it’s great. Dude should be over 1mil subs with the work he does
Should start a petition for a looker series
I cant be the only one that want looker and detective pikachu to have a cross over.
Also Hasuian in snow is so cool. I never heard of it until now but watching as the beginning is of humans and pokemon is super refreshing. You can even say that him taking off at a young age to vefreind pokemon is the tradition of 10 year olds setting off on an adventure.
Morty and Gengar in crowd was nice touch
Man that Cubone story made me wanna cry.
Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit love you all so much!
Every time I see you drop a video it actually makes my day.
Looker working with detective pikachu would be great
Seems that The Pokemon Company has been making more anime spin-offs as of late and I'm totally down for that!
All of these stories happened in the video games. So it was cool watching it play in on tv.
Origins should have been an entire series man, I LOVED it!
id like to add a subtle little moment where broke realized ash didnt have any other badges and reasons out as to why he only used a geodude + and onyx, implying if he wasnt his first gym battle, he would have used more pokemons out of his arsenal
Something interesting to think about with the Cyrus episode
The Reverse World has water, but it doesn't have food, Cyrus almost certainly doomed himself to starve to death
This is without doubt the best thing that ever came out from Pokemon
Wholesome stuff, this all takes me back.
Pokemon Origins deserved so much more love including more episodes
Origins was legit, especially with Bryce Pappenbrook and Lucien Dodge voicing Red and Blue, as well as Johnny Yong Bosch voicing Brock. We need a Red VS Ash battle at some point.
Hey Jordan! What about doing all Power Ranger season complete guide like you did for Pokemon anime? I think it'd be fun
My favorite Spin-offs are Origins and Twilight Wings.
I love this, keep going man.
Origins is the only one that i have watched. It was the first pokemon related thing that I had watched in years. I stopped watching during the Ruby era. It was fun going back to somewhere so familiar and seeing it more from the game pov then the anime.
Aaah yes the story of Red and Ass hat😂😂
God man, I missed the vids so this is a beautiful bonus
The final episode of Origins was the official reveal of Charizard X. Up until this point Charizard Y along with the other kanto starter Megas was the only reveal for X/Y just weeks before the game came out.
Origins should've been the anime adaptation of the Adventures Manga I've been waiting forever for.
I hope one day we get Pokémon origins gold and silver
Ngl, i love how they nade this series of epidodes based on the games themselves
thanks for making this awsome video .
