This video really puts the nail in the coffin, your videos are too short! Go into more detail, talk about the build, talk about the little things that you thought were fun or surprising, but 5 minutes for a 100 dollar set, almost 1 minute of which was intro, CMON MAN
Is it just me or is it so satisfying when Lego actually puts care and thought behind the design of a set.. the unique and innovative building techniques coupled with tons of cool/hidden features and zero stickers that all come together to make an absolute beaut of a set. If they put that same time and effort into all Lego Star Wars sets I’d never complain again lol
My 13 year old son just bought this today with his Christmas money and has been working on it for 4 hours and already half way done. He's so excited because this is his first 18+ non Star Wars lego set. He's been eyeing this one for months now and finally got it.
I have a question for you, lego brit. How much traffic to your channel do you believe is from comments and how much is by people discovering your channel through recommendations.
I missed out on the original set by a few years in the 80's, but one of my friends had it from his older brother, so I did get to build it in about 1986. It was always my favorite even though I had a lot of the later Space Lego sets.
Growing up int he 80s the original 497 was my favorite set. I left for college and my mother gave away all my Lego sets. I am so happy to see this set come back. I just so happened to have the moon base plate I bough at a lego shop years ago. Can't wait for it arrive.
I LOVE THIS SET. I got into lego recently thanks to my lovely boyfriend. I enjoy your videos so much because I can tell you're passionate about the technique of the lego pieces, and how much you appreciate the vibe each set gives. I enjoy every video you post! Keep it up!😊
Tbh I'm kind of sick of Lego star wars. It's so expensive right now (I'm pissed about the cad bane ship price). I think other themes are so much better right now like castle
I received the original for Christmas from my mom and dad back in the early 80s and I LOVED that set. This is triggering big-time memberberries for me. Only downside I can see is that it doesn't come with the landing pad/monitoring station like the original set. Otherwise, awesome.
Never had the original but did start with later Classic Space sets. Normally buy DC and Star Wars sets, but this year I’m excited for sets outside those themes, in particular the Optimus Prime set and this one. Can’t wait to get my hands on this set!
I've been eyeing this one for awhile, having owned the original from 1979. I recently saw both built and on display at a local store. That was really cool to see them both side by side. This review sealed the deal for me
I was a little kid in the early 80s and my favorite toys were my Kenner Star Wars and LEGO Space. This set hits that nostalgia feeling really hard. I'm so happy LEGO made it even though it didn't win the fan vote. I had mine pre-ordered the first day it was available. Can't wait to display it with my vintage Space sets, especially the original Galaxy Explorer!
I remember me as a kid negging to my parents for the og version of this set. Never got it: it was too expensive. Yes back in the days kids were taught the value of money. Ofcourse I will totaly ignore those lessons and buy it, because nostalgy.
LOL, same here - also I was 4 in 1979 and by the time I started getting into Space Lego in about 1983 it wasn't available anymore even if my parents had been able to afford it. I had a friend with an older brother who had it though and always lusted after it.
@@Beer_Dad1975 i could affort the smallest of the 3. 25 guilder it was. But even then my parents said to wait, because it was all of my savings. And then they were retired. Well had plenty other space stuff, like the rocket launch stationnor whatever it was called.
@@legomattie3295 Yup, for me Lego was my Christmas present every year for a number of years I'd get one big set each year - I had the rocket station too - and the big rover that also had a rocket launcher arm on it - and not long before I started growing out of playing like that, I got the 3 part ship, the one with the double cockpit upfront - so I had a fair amount. Actually I still have all of it - or at least my kids do, but it's in an enormous sack with all the other sets they've finished playing with now they are in their teens too. I really should go through and sort them out back into set again, but there is probably 10,000 or more bricks in that sack so it might have to wait until I retire! :-)
@@legomattie3295 These days I have Star Wars lego - the problem I have now is I'm running out of room to hold it all. Still going to get this set and put it on display somehow though :-)
The box wasn’t enticing for me to buy until I saw a video on it. Love how there is no stickers whatsoever and love the back where you can store the rover.
It only _just_ occurred to me that the wings being 5 plates thick is _also_ roughly 1.5x the thickness of the original 3-plate-thick wings. I wonder if that part is also intentional, or if the wings technique was _why_ they decided on the 1.5x scale?
This set is just fun. So many features, looks great, no stickers all prints. I will definitely have to see the alternate models and if they're good I'll definitely have to attempt to grab 3 of this set. Also this set just shows LEGO can still make a great set with an amazing price and have 0 stickers.
Amazing set. A great model for the anniversary and truly a LEGO masterpiece! The build of bags 1-4 is kinda monotonous (endoskeleton) but after that it's great fun. My only complaint is that it's size and retro-modern look is a bit out of place with my OG Classic Space (yes, I'm old and still have sets from my childhood).
This is way better than the bad batch shuttle or any other 100$ SW set, at first, for me, if a set wasn't sw, i wouldn't care about the set but now i just realized how good other themes are and how better the value is, love this set, def top 3 in my collection
Thank you David. I really was looking forward to this review. Well done! I'll try getting it at the store on launch day or else online. Hope all is well!
I still got most of my classic space lego from the late 70's. I want to get 2 of these so I can build one of the alternative builds too. There was 3 different sizes of the "Explorer" in the 70/80's I had none of them but I did have the White Freighter and the white mobile radar station that came later and they were both awesome sets too.
This set looks seriously amazing. Star Wars sets are also my main buys, but I'll be trying to get this one before anything else. All of the printed pieces are a huge plus.
I wanted to buy Sanctum Sanctorum, but it has some little problems for me. But this set seems to be perfect, like without a doubt, i'm buying this one instead of Sanctum for sure
@Solid Bricks Studios, I love your reviews, but as some constructive criticism, I think you should look up the word "are". I've never once heard you use it in your videos, you always use "is" and it's off-putting to listen to: "There is five minifigures in this set", "There is so many stickers", and so on. Other than that, love the content, keep it up!
Not sure why you'd get this when the Space Shuttle Discovery and Hubble set is still on shelves. This is a cool throwback, but Discovery is the far better set overall.
Looks amazing, the techniques are clever and doesn't affect the classic space vibe. This set really managed to stay true to the original theme.

I agree there are definitely some that look like they took 30 secs to desigh
Even people who haven’t grown up with Classic Space, like you and I, seem to really appreciate this set. Might have to get one!
My 13 year old son just bought this today with his Christmas money and has been working on it for 4 hours and already half way done. He's so excited because this is his first 18+ non Star Wars lego set. He's been eyeing this one for months now and finally got it.
I have the original back of the late 70’s. No brainer to purchase 1, maybe 2 for alternative builds
This set's fantastic, especially for price tag! This is going to be a day 1 buy for me.🙂, Great review as always David!
Not a Star Wars collector, but I am a Space fan, so I appreciate this review!
Can tell Lego really put effort into this
The sliding door at the back is just perfect
What a cool set this is! I believe my dad had the original when he was younger, so I can’t wait to show him this at the LEGO store in August! 😄
I have a question for you, lego brit. How much traffic to your channel do you believe is from comments and how much is by people discovering your channel through recommendations.
Just rebuilt the original set myself from my dad's collection and it is so cool
Lego Brit!!

Best set of the year
Probably
I think the LEGO technic airbus h175 is a little better, but the galaxy explorer is still a legendary set
I just bought it yesterday what an amazing set the techniques are magnificent it’s really fun to play with and build I totally recommend it👍
I LOVE THIS SET. I got into lego recently thanks to my lovely boyfriend. I enjoy your videos so much because I can tell you're passionate about the technique of the lego pieces, and how much you appreciate the vibe each set gives. I enjoy every video you post! Keep it up!😊
oh my god the bionicle canister easter egg, i love that so much.
Since I was born in 1968, the nostalgia factor is extremely high for me on this. I will definitely be picking this up. Great review!
I really, really, REALLY wish they'd give the Deep Freeze Defender the same treatment.
I like how your now reviewing more lego sets outside of the Star Wars theme. Keep it up bro!
That’s because he’s a representative now, we free lego to review.
Tbh I'm kind of sick of Lego star wars. It's so expensive right now (I'm pissed about the cad bane ship price). I think other themes are so much better right now like castle
I always wanted the Galaxy Explorer ever since I 6 and got the Lego book. Getting this set would be a dream come true and look great in my collection.
Cool design, nice amount of figs, reasonably priced, two(!) alternate builds, and no stickers. This is what we want, Lego!
I received the original for Christmas from my mom and dad back in the early 80s and I LOVED that set. This is triggering big-time memberberries for me. Only downside I can see is that it doesn't come with the landing pad/monitoring station like the original set. Otherwise, awesome.
Spaceship spaceship spaceshiiiiiip.
I have the small original. But always preferred the black space sets from the late 80s if I remember correctly.
Never had the original but did start with later Classic Space sets. Normally buy DC and Star Wars sets, but this year I’m excited for sets outside those themes, in particular the Optimus Prime set and this one. Can’t wait to get my hands on this set!

Love the box art on this set
Great looking set for a 100 dollars. Im considering picking it up as I was never able to get any of the classic lego sets.
This level of interior detail should be the standard for LEGO.
This set reminds me of the space sets I played with as a kid. This is a great video and really has me sold - I will be getting this later today.
2:54 It's nice seeing a Bionicle Reference on that Computer screen.
1:43 why in the well Lego never did do this with any millennium falcon set
I love that is has the classic style box.
I remember me as a kid negging to my parents for the og version of this set. Never got it: it was too expensive. Yes back in the days kids were taught the value of money. Ofcourse I will totaly ignore those lessons and buy it, because nostalgy.

A friend of mine had that one.

I saw this on the shelf and just had to have it. I bought this instead of food and didn't regret it at all
Defintley pre-ordering this. Way better than the sycthe tbh
Im not ivesting in lego that often, but definitely giving up on the scythe for this one, even thou the scythe is very tempting.
I wonder if we’ll see any other classic sets in the future like Johnny thunder.
Nice set
The box wasn’t enticing for me to buy until I saw a video on it. Love how there is no stickers whatsoever and love the back where you can store the rover.
I honestly hope that this will be the start of a classic space revival.

Originally, I wasn't interested, but now I am. That thing looks sick.
It would be nice if LEGO had also added a few 1x6 bright blue bricks with LL918 and LL924 printed on them...

I have the 1980 and I really liked

It's a great size to .awsume great vid Dave ..
This is an EPIC set.Awsome review
Utter PERFECTION of a set! Its amazing🤩
Oh my gosh Dave. 😲💥💪👌👍😊 Awsume your first to show this. ..
This is way better than the bad batch shuttle or any other 100$ SW set, at first, for me, if a set wasn't sw, i wouldn't care about the set but now i just realized how good other themes are and how better the value is, love this set, def top 3 in my collection

I still have space sets with light bricks ..😁
I had it first time round… absolutely going to get this one!
There’s actually a possible Bionicle easter egg on one of those printed Lego pieces
“This set includes no stickers - “
*buys instantly*
I was born in 03 and I have literally zero attachment to classic space but holy f I ADORE THIS SET
1000% RECOMMEND :D :D
Great review will defo pick it up 😊👍
I grew up with the original the new one is so nostolgic
Can't wait to get this epic Spaceship SPACESHIP SHACESHIIIIIIIP!!!!!
SPACESHIP SPACESHIP SPACESHIP
I remember those classic astronauts, I had those space legos as a kid. =)
I used to have the original... Just ordered this one cause it looks awesome!
Awesome review bro, the quality just keeps going up and up!
Great review. I love the classic Lego.
At first glance the arrow in back I thought it was a sticker but when you said that no stickers in this set.
Is it just me or is the audio a bit quiet?
Yes, I had to have the volume maxed to hear it like normal.
Nick Jonas bringing us another banger! Def gonna cop two of these for the alt builds...
I hope starwars set would be bigger like this set.
I would like to see a new Lego space theme in the future.
Oh my god one of the prints has a Bionicle Canister that is adorable
I make a few reviews of Lego sets and figures but I have no idea how you make such high quality reviews
AWESOME LEGO Galaxy Explorer REVIEW | Set 10497, David Hall from Solid Brix Studios! ;) :)
It looks so good. Just complete.
I still got most of my classic space lego from the late 70's. I want to get 2 of these so I can build one of the alternative builds too. Lego this year is da bomb 💣🚀
Reminds me of star destroyers
Galaxy Explorer, the next generation. Que theme song.
Please review the LEGO Ferrari Daytona sp3 and BMW M1000 RR 🔥🔥
This set looks seriously amazing. Star Wars sets are also my main buys, but I'll be trying to get this one before anything else. All of the printed pieces are a huge plus.
No stickers! This set will be epic.
I have every old lego space 1 edition
Cool set but I can't help but feel Lego intended for Space to win the vote so they released it anyway.
I have a single thing to ask you if you would do it and that is to use the at-ot dropship to try to pick up an at-te
I hope this theme comes back
Excellent set
Geonosis when?
Maybe the best set this year
Man that brings back some memories :)
I’m not sure if I should
A)Buy this
B)save up for the castle
C) by the bugle
D)buy the sanctum
I wish Lego would produce more of their own sets. I love Star Wars but bring back more of the classic 1990s sets.
I wanted to buy Sanctum Sanctorum, but it has some little problems for me. But this set seems to be perfect, like without a doubt, i'm buying this one instead of Sanctum for sure
Is this gonna be a Lego store exclusive? Very excited for this to come out!
@Solid Bricks Studios, I love your reviews, but as some constructive criticism, I think you should look up the word "are". I love it but wished they included more coloured space minifigures like green blue etc
they're just being accurate to the OG 497 set
Cool
Not sure why you'd get this when the Space Shuttle Discovery and Hubble set is still on shelves. This is a cool throwback, but Discovery is the far better set overall.
Looks cool tbh
God I want this so much
counting down the days ;-)
I appreciate the work that went into the build design but it looks hideous to me
