@@munnsey And it definitely wouldn't make sense too! The entire engine was redesigned (since it is based on the 911.2 Carrera 3.0L turbocharged engine, and not on the GT3 4.0L) as a naturally aspirated engine.
@@munnsey correct. First you have to change internals to lower compression. Then change head and more internals to handle power. Then change clutch to handle power. Then all the drivetrain components, tune, amd realize for the same money you could have just had a more powerful model to start. What a racket
My dad bought the original Boxter in white with a red interior when it came out. I could not hold back a smile when that flat six started singing! Been obsessed with Porsche ever since ❤
You have to come to Sewickley, Pennsylvania and see how many Porsches are driving around there. All I see is 911 Carerras, Macan Turbos, Cayennes, and Panameras. It's crazy. I still remember when the Boxster came out and they handled GREAT, but they had such an anemic engine that they couldn't get out of their own way. If they would've released the Boxster with an updated 944 turbo engine they would've sold so much better here. The 2.5 and 2.7 were underpowered. The newest Boxster was MUCH better made and so much more fun to drive than any previous version.
I can not even imagine how excellent this car would be to own and take it out in the weekend when the weather is nice. I have 987 Boxster S with 3.4L flat six and love every moment of it even for an old car it still drives and feels special.
A lot of people who track these, or the Caymans more commonly, are changing the final drive ratio by something like 20%... Apparently it makes a huge difference and it's what the car always needed. I imagine Porsche knows that, but emmission and economy mandates made it impossible to offer shorter gearing from the factory.
Also, and it's the same with the older Boxster's, the gearing isn't actually "long" it's just first gear that's very long, because 6th is very short in these cars for track usage and sporty driving characteristics. With a shorter final drive you're going to sacrifice even more MPG, engine life, and noise penalty.
Nice piece and out and interior. I was sitting in a Porsche Boxster in 2000 but they still looked completely different in design that time Although in my view the Boxster doesn’t count as a real Porsche
The train has passed, now that EVs are taking over, but why didnt any manufacturer include the 2 gearbox option, like for top speed and acceleration, so that you can choose what suits you. I know developmnent is costly, but some of them couldve use gearbox from other models of the company. Maybe im too ignorant to realistically fantasize, but that is one thing that would have won me over as a consumer
Porsche is one of the best to ever do it. Just wish their shift paddles were column mounted instead of wheel mounted. I'm sure that's how he prefers driving most cars also. Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Maserati, Lotus, Alpha Romero and the greatest Japanese car all time (imo) the Lexus LFA, all got it right! When it comes to street legal semi-auto cars.. column mounted is king.
Yes, I do it all the time. Actually recently I've just been using paddles on and off and then it just goes back and forth between automatic and manual itself. No matter what you do, it won't break it - PDK is computer controlled and is bulletproof.
Top speed is too low. You hit 285 kmh with a base 2.0 model, which also has more torque at lower rpm, so it's a better daily driver. GTS sucks sadly. The only good thing about it is the sound.
I mean, if this is a fake porsche according to some... what is even a macan at this point? LOL It's literally a mid-engine car but still using most of the porsche legendary receipe a.k.a RWD, flat 6 (or flat 4 for some new ones) and a typical architecture with just the engine moved in the middle.
In manual you are patting and playing with a ding dong so that's way more gay in my book also manual has even worse gear ratios than PDK in this car, absolute waste buying it
@@thezig2078 so you can’t drive manual is that it, it’s not just about gear shifting, that’s a convertible roadster supposed to be a Sunday manual. Point blank. Besides this with a manual gearbox it’s easier to adjust and tune with an automatic like this one forget about it to play and tune with the engine any sort but anyway suits “someone” you’re type and I respect that
Finally! Love this vehicle! This is by far my favorite Boxster that’s on sale. This spec is JUST how I’d get it too. Awesome catch guys! 🔥👌
Man, I just love this vehicle to pieces, the sound, the speed and really everything about this vehicle, Thank you so much for Max!
This NA high-revving Flat 6 is going to be a legend in the future when they start turbocharging it. 🤩
nice picture xd
That's not so easy with a 13:1 compression ratio!

Boxster to me is all you need really in a day to day sports car. Just lovely.
PDK+Flat6 4.0 = PURE MAGIC
What a beautiful spec

HI FROM INDIA DUDE KEEP WORKING HARD BRO
Silver with red interior looks great! Im not so fond of the gold bits though.
agreed and yes, the gold bits look dated and tacky, come on Porsche
You are right. This is a phantastic car.
no shit! I drove the new boxster 25 yesterday! Love the wheels and the embossed soft too, otherwise not a huge fan. great fun to drive though
Good to have you back Max! The rookie is trying and doing well but, yours is a big pair of shoes to fill :)
Martin is doing well. No worries.
Are you talking about Martin? He is not a rookie at all. I guess you are the only newbie here.

Lovely car
Really stunning (non-standard) interior!
So smooth and easy to drive 140mph+
Do you prefer the 718 GTS 4.0 over a base 992?
Just love the pdk gearbox that Porsche use!!
U r really lucky to drive all these cars❤❤

The interior looks amazing and the aluminium touch is match pretty well! By the way why there no intro in the beginning?
Nice keep it going!
Very nice. Wonder if it's worth an upgrade from a 981S
love mid-engine, love the weight ratio.
I wish it was available with a tan interior.
Good job👌
Thanks for video
First reviewer I've heard say get the PDK over the manual.
remember Porsche Challenge on the psx ?
@AutoTopNL will you do a review of Merc C?
A Dutch guy drives a car that is a homage to a Car designed by a Dutch Designer with a Number-plate from the Netherlands? Is today Oranje day? :-D
Should I get leather or race tex steering wheel?

Definitely needs a corsa exhaust to open it up , with a stage 1 . Just IMO

For all the work they put into their engines Porsche do a very good job of hiding them.
I've sold my Boxster 987.2 today. I could cry :(
Why'd you do it?? I was just checking them out maybe a 2.9 manual
How much

I rly don't get the point of a red interieur. Looking at red color for a longer time makes nothing more than aggressive
Can you also tell the mph unit plz.
Can you put the gearbox stick in manual mid ride? Any car?

Who is Martin? Where he is?
I don't really care how fast a car is. Design is more important for me.

They should have made 25 cars if they were celebrating 25 years and not 1250 cars!

Couldn't disagree more. I've owned the 718 Cayman S and now have the GTS 4.0 and I much prefer the GTS. Top speed is basically irrelevant.
You can't be comfortable in that thing. I can't move when in the seat and backrest doesn't adjust.
U must be really tall if u cant even sit comfortable in a Porsche. Im 6'1 and my seating position is perfect in the 718 and 911
@@lmao6769_ 911 is comfortable but 718 is not. In between door and console is very narrow.

Absurdly long gearing again… this is sad since it’s one of the last great NA engines produce.
Yuck on the red interior.
That red interior looks good but it's Porsche, I have never liked those. They look almost the same, and as JC says, it's just a Volkswagen.
