17:33 So speaking as someone who wants to get into fighting games but feels kinda intimidated by it I have to say, the issue is not the motion inputs or the depth of the mechanics in general, it's that you are thrown into cold water and immediately expected to swim, the tutorials in fighting games kinda suck and training mode only really gets you so far, and the main issue is the severe lack in single player content. Fighting games operate under the assumption that you buy the game to play against other people, and that is very much true, but for someone like me who never truly dove into that sort of stuff that is downright scary, fighting games don't really need easier inputs to get new people to play them, they need more stuff to do offline so that newbies can ease themselves into it and build up some muscle memory and confidence to try out the online.
Kinda in a similar boat. I can go one to three weeks between VG sessions and unlike playing REVlLLAGE or Yakuza Kiwami 2 where the gameplay and attacks are easy to remember, I find it difficult to hold some of the right motions, timings, and mechanics from session to session.
@@pcharl01 I was gonna ask how Yakuza Kiwami 2 has easy gameplay to remember, but then realized you’re correct and I’m confusing it for the more complex combat that’s present in the Yakuza/Judgment games that preceded/succeeded 6 and Kiwami 2 Relevant to this, I must express how badly I wish Tekken 8 would have a single player story mode, like the Tekken Force mode they used to do, but that resembled Yakuza or more specifically Lost Judgment’s combat systems (especially since Tekken 8 is utilizing a Heat mechanic like Yakuza games LMAO) However it’s obviously too hard + expensive for Namco to implement while crafting such a legendary main fighting game experience, but it’s such a shame since Lost Judgment has such an in-depth juggle combo system like Tekken (but as a single player game ofc) and with the right creativity/budget, I’m sure developers could make a Tekken Force meets Yakuza style mode play in a way that teaches abstract skills (spacing, combos etc.) in a fun offline environment that would transfer to the actual extensive fighting gameplay online

I know they're doing their best but hearing them butcher all the League character names will never not be funny to me lmao. Max seems to be the only one getting it right, probably because he reads the devblogs and has watched Arcane. It's worth mentioning that Illaoi isn't actually a puppet character at all, they specifically mention in the devblog that Illaoi is all about brute strength and being a 4D Chess master by controlling two characters at once doesn't really fit her character fantasy, so tentacle followups are actually automatic. Assuming we do get a puppet character like Zato that MarlinPie would play, there are better options (Shaco, Zed, Leblanc, Kindred, etc.)
Pretty sure they are intending to go the Urien/Crusader route with Illaoi's tentacles where its a stationary object meant to sandwich opponents but not strictly controllable as a puppet would be.
I really hope they have dlc world tour places with their own little map where you can go and do different things with different stories and characters that would be pretty awesome I would definitely pay for that .
When they said they were 30% done in the project L video they mean that for Illaoi not for the game. Although that might as well be true for the game too lol
It's not uncommon for games to have higher quality cinematic models. I think that's why the initial T8 trailer looks noticeably better than the vga trailer, which showed the actual in-game models. It also showcased what I honestly think might be the best newcomer cast any SF game has ever had.

Why doesn’t dnf duel/literally every new fighting game have crossplay? It seems like a guaranteed way to increase the pool of players in online modes which is a constant problem for most fighting games
Their read on Project L is so wrong lol. For illaoi, they released a whole devblog post explicitly saying she won’t be a puppet fighter. Also they said Illaoi was 30% done, not the game as a whole.
They 100% have characters that are at the same level of Illaoi. Fighting games have multiple teams working on different characters at the same time. 4 of them look almost complete, just visual polish for effects. There's no way they only have 5 "almost complete" characters.
guys you forget this game its made on RE engine and they have a lot of assets from monster hunter already made so they can just change it a bit and use those hubs
With the advent of the internet, there is no excuse for a lawyer nowadays to not know the difference between a Sony owned IP versus a WB owned IP. Also, even I thought it was a step back in design and functionality, the fact that Sega used Hull sensors in the Dreamcast controller analog - 25 years ago - shows how forward-thinking Sega actually was with durability. They don't get nearly enough credit for the innovations they accomplish.
I'm definitely in the sub category of fans Matt was talking about when it comes to guests 🤣 Like, I understand guests create buzz and get people interested, and I personally played a lot with Noctis in Tekken, 2B in SoulCalibur and Mai in Dead or Alive, however, I also strongly feel like "missing" legacy characters should always be a priority before guests. I mean characters like Zafina or Setsuka being put in DLC jail and Negan or Geralt getting prioritized over them? Not cool! I also prefer that the guests are actual game characters, fighters specifically, as I feel like Negan or RoboCop is taking it too far on the ridiculous side. Lastly, I feel like SoulCalibur specifically, which more or less popularized guests in fighting games with II, has at this point been reduced to "who's the next guest gonna be" and "can I make a horse penis in character creation?" which is very sad because SoulCalibur has a very rich history and its characters are full of personality and rich backstories but people only seem to care about Ivy's boobs. Anyway, rant over! Happy holidays guys, I'm once again very thankful for this divine combo of yours!!
I love how Max keeps trying to push for more f2p fighting games. Like, its not going to be a thing. Brawlhalla is the only example of it functioning (I say "functioning", as nobody I know plays it, and everyone pretty much just plays Smash instead). Multiversus almost pulled it off, but the playerbase dropped quickly, and everyone got sick of the grind, and just bought the characters they wanted, completely negating the f2p model. Project L might make it work, but I sincerely doubt it. It might have a lot of people playing at launch, but one month in, they'll all leave for better made options.

How fuckin dope would it be, especially given ed boon sayin he wants to add 3d era fighters to mk12, if t8 added someone from mk deception or somethin
Thing is Spectre is supposedly the most popular in DFO. She might bring a small bump.
Max & his YoVideogames buddies SHOULD play GigaBash at some point soon!!!
>FGC News
>Rumble Fish
Real shit?
The Rumble Fish 1 & 2 being released on modern consoles is something I wouldn’t have expected to happen but it’s very appreciated.
@@emanuelepolloni4002That's so extremely sick. I can't wait for it to come out.
I think DnF duel update was delayed because of the switch port.
Gundam for Gigabash
Even though I really like Kimberly. I like old dude party man Zeku more.
17:17 this is what sf6 should have learned from that part is how you appeal to casuals
*waits for comments to be mad about the names being said wrong about league champs*
My favorite league characters Itoi and Enzo
Max has nerves of steel. Bruh I would’ve broke..
Pocket Bravery 😍😍🤗❤️
1:10:30 That stage looked irritating with all the steet lights tbh
for myself i've bought tekken 7 twice lol, once on ps4 and once on pc after i switched.
Battle for the grid and BB Tag are good options to train your brain. More so Battle for the Grid donto the easy inputs.
idk man those strive updates just made it feel like a while different game
I'm definitely in the sub category of fans Matt was talking about when it comes to guests 🤣
Like, I understand guests create buzz and get people interested, and I personally played a lot with Noctis in Tekken, 2B in SoulCalibur and Mai in Dead or Alive, however, I also strongly feel like "missing" legacy characters should always be a priority before guests.
With the vga’s logic on sifu being nominated for best fighting game, they should have put elden ring in that category too 😭😂
You gotta love how Max doesn't want to talk about his hairy balls at all
Is it me or does Justin's mic sounds a bit muffled.
Rumble fish 2 great game....having dlc characters at launch was scummy though
